Abstract

The furuniture lock has a rectangular housing closed by a cover plate and containing a key-operated bolt. A spring retainer engages in recesses in the bolt, holding it in he open or locked position. The retainer (8) is U-shaped, with a transverse web (21) and two supporting springs (22,23), and fits round the bolt (36). It bears via the ends of the curved springs against the bottom of the housing (10), while the convex sides of the springs bear against a narrow housing sidewall parallel to the direction of bolt movement. It is adjustable between the bolt and the cover plate (63) and along the housing sidewalls at right angles to the bolt movement direction. Mating locking portions (88) are provided on the underside of the web and the bolt surface towards the cover plate. ADVANTAGE - Reliably retains bolt in locked position over long period.
