EL PROCEDIMIENTO CONSISTE EN LA FERMENTACION AEROBIA DE HALOFERAX MEDITERRANEI SIN TENER QUE UTILIZAR MEDIDAS ESPECIALES DE ESTERILIDAD, CON EL CONSIGUIENTE AHORRO ECONOMICO EN SU PRODUCCION INDUSTRIAL. EL MEDIO DE CULTIVO CONTIENE UNA ALTA CONCENTRACION DE SALES MARINAS (25%), ADEMAS DE SALES DE AMONIO, HIERRO Y FOSFATOS. EL PH SE MANTIENE PROXIMO A LA NEUTRALIDAD Y LA TEMPERATURA ALREDEDOR DE 45GC. COMO FUENTE DE HIDRATOS DE CARBONO SE UTILIZA GLUCOSA. LA CANTIDAD DE AL MENOS UNO DE SUSBSTRATOS ESENCIALES ES LIMITADA, A FIN DE CONSEGUIR LA ACUMULACION DE PHB.
