Abrasive body, based on fibre band cuttings coated with binder and charge of abrasive grain. The innovation relates to an abrasive body of high durability, consisting of fibre band cuttings coated with binder and a charge of abrasive grain applied electrostatically, which fibre cuttings charged with abrasive grain are secured to plastic backings for use in the trades and industry, for which purpose with semi-rigid profiled plastic backings, the fibre base preferably shaped in a tool, especially arched with a charge of abrasive grain as the plastic backing is secured indissolubly and unbreakably by means of an adhesive bond of binary adhesive or contact adhesive. Accordingly, prolonged durability is achieved without risk of breakage and furthermore many basic shapes can be achieved with a compact non-replaceable adhesive bond between economical thermoplastic backing material in semi- rigid form and abrasive grain on a fibre base with some flexibility to absorb any impact.
