Abstract

The procedure is based on capturing heat from a cold heat source and delivering it to a hot heat source, performing the process by a reversible chemical action with a strong thermal tonality, so that the endothermic process occurs in the cold heat source and the exothermic process in the hot heat source. As in a polymerisation/depolymerisation reaction, acetaldehyde/paraldehyde is used for preference, although any chemical process could be used that combines the conditions of reversibility and thermal tonality. The equipment to perform this process is called a heat pump and consists basically of two superimposed cylindrical reactors, each fitted with a coil which the refrigerant fluid enters, with the assistance of the corresponding compressor.
