Abstract

A transferring device for transferring pastry articles (2) from a continuous storage conveyor belt to a hollow receptacle conveyor belt, and filling a predetermined number of receptacles in groups separated by an unfilled receptacle, comprises a plurality of paddles (12) carried on an endless chain, each paddle (12) being movable out of the way by the action of a drive means from an operative position where it interferes with said articles (2) to an inoperative position where it is away therefrom. The transferring device has a compact construction and is uncommonly versatile in operation. The drive means comprises an endless chain driven in synchronism with the paddle carrying chain and carrying a cam 16 which engages a roller 29 associated with the paddle 12 to pivot the paddle to an inoperative position.
