Abstract

Method for reducing the internal pressure build-up in a storage container for radioactive wastes, in particular in a repository container for wastes containing metallic, corrodible components and residual water. Besides the radioactive wastes, chemical substances are introduced into the storage container that bind hydrogen chemically and/or oxidise it to water with emission of oxygen, under the thermodynamic parameters obtaining in the storage container.
