Abstract

The present invention relates to a bleaching composition for textile and/or cellulosic materials, which is highly efficient at low temperatures, characterised in that it contains peroxide compounds, soluble salts of divalent metals of atomic number between 25 and 29 inclusive and sequestring agents of the ligand type which, in an aqueous medium, form, with the said divalent metals, complexes which act as bleaching catalysts and which at the alkaline pH's of the bleaching baths, have a net positive charge. It also relates to a process for the bleaching of textile fibres and/or cellulosic fibres using the said bleaching composition.
