Abstract

A replaceable scale plate 12 introduced into a housing 1 of an electric measuring instrument through a slot defined between the end of top wall 2, 3 and the instrument glass retainer 11 is retained by a cover 5 slideable between an open position I (Fig. 1) and a closed position II (Fig. 2). The cover 5 has an upper wall 17 joined to a lower wall 18 by a strap at its leading end and the two walls slide on the upper and lower surfaces of a reduced portion 3 of top wall 2. A central projection 4 of the reduced portion 3 has a lug 13 which snaps into a recess in the lower wall 18 of the cover when it is in its closed position and prevents it reopening. At each end the cover (5) is provided with fingers (9) which fit into recesses (19) in a union flange (10) of the housing in which the retainer 11 is inserted, so that the cover (5) automatically is closed when the housing is fitted into an instrument panel.
