Abstract

A low voltage electric cable comprises a conductor surrounded by at least one extruded insulation layer 2 and an insulating varnish coating 3 around one or more of the extruded insulation layers. The extruded layer may be polyvinylidene fluoride, cross-linked copolyethylene-tetrafluoroethylene or polysulphone. The varnish coating may be polyester, polyamide, polyimide or polyester-imide. Two extruded insulation layers may be provided with or without an interposed coating of varnish (Figs. 2&3). The coating and the layer may be cross-linked by irradiation at the same or different times.
