LA PREPARACION DE FLUOROTITANATOS DE METALES ALCALINOS FLUORANDO UN MINERAL DE TITANIO, POR EJEMPLO RUTILO O ILMENITA, POR MEZCLA DEL MISMO CON UNA SOLUCION DE HIDROFLUROSILICATO QUE TIENE PREFERIBLEMENTE UNA CONCENTRACION COMPRENDIDA ENTRE 5 Y 36% EN PESO, EVAPORANDO LA SUSPENSION RESULTANTE A UNA TEMPERATURA DE 90 A 110 C, RECOGIENDO SEGUIDAMENTE EL RESIDUO EN AGUA O EN UN ACIDO MINERAL Y NEUTRALIZANDO LA SOLUCION DEL RESIDUO, PREFERIBLEMENTE A UN VALOR DEL PH ENTRE 3 Y 5, CON UN COMPUESTO DE METAL ALCALINO, TAL COMO UN CARBONATO O HIDROXIDO DE METAL ALCALINO, PREFERIBLEMENTE UN COMPUESTO DE POTASIO O SODIO, TRAS LO CUAL SE SEPARAN LOS FLUOROTITANATOS DE METALES ALCALINOS PRECIPITADOS FORMADOS. LOS FLUOROTITANATOS OBTENIDOS SE PUEDEN UTILIZAR COMO MATERIAL DE PARTIDA PARA LA PREPARACION DE TITANIO METALICO POR ELECTROLISIS DE SALES FUNDIDAS.
