- This layer of foam acts as a sound absorption element in order to limit the noise produced by the vibrations of the electric battery when the vehicle is in the driving phase.
- Application DE102019002599 A1 describes a battery box arrangement on a motor vehicle chassis.
- This arrangement which allows the battery case to be removed without damaging it, comprises a foam acoustic absorption element, placed between a floor and a battery cover. Sealing elements in the form of seals are positioned on the battery box.
- a disadvantage of this type of arrangement is that it involves a large number of parts, resulting in longer assembly time, greater sources of error and therefore significant additional costs.
- a vehicle according to the invention has an arrangement involving a sound absorption element inserted between the floor and an electric battery placed under said floor, and overcoming the drawbacks encountered in the state of the art.
- the subject of the invention is a vehicle comprising a floor and an electric battery placed under said floor, said vehicle further comprising a layer of sound-absorbing foam inserted between the floor and said battery so that said layer has an upper surface which is contact with the floor and a lower surface which is in contact with said battery.
- At least one of said two surfaces forms at least one joint intended to increase the acoustic absorption of the foam inserted between the floor and the battery.
- a gasket is an integral part of the sound-absorbing foam and is used to increase the performance of said foam in terms of sound absorption, while ensuring a good seal between the foam and the floor, and/or between the foam and the electric battery. It is used to improve the conditions of contact between the foam and the floor and/or the battery.

- FIG. 3 represents an enlarged view of part of the area of FIG. 1, showing the foam of a second embodiment of a vehicle according to the invention
- FIG. 4 shows a perspective view of a foam of a vehicle according to the invention, showing a seal on an upper surface of said foam.
- a vehicle 1 according to the state of the art comprises a floor 2 extending in a substantially horizontal plane XY when the vehicle itself rests on horizontal ground, and an electric battery 3 housed in a box 4.
- the box 4 When the battery 3 is mounted in the vehicle, the box 4 is found under the floor 2 and has a flat upper face 5 extending in a horizontal plane XY when the vehicle 1 itself rests on horizontal ground .
- a space 6 Between the floor 2 and the upper surface 5 of the box 4, there remains a space 6 which is filled by a layer of foam 7, preferably made of polyurethane with a polyethylene film.
- the upper surface 5 of the box 4 and the floor 2 have substantially the same dimensions along a horizontal plane XY, and the foam 7 is inserted between the floor 2 and said upper surface 5 over substantially the entire horizontal surface of these two elements 2, 5. It is advantageously assumed that the floor 2, the upper surface 5 of the box 4 and the foam 7 have the same dimensions and are rectangular in shape. This foam 7 is compressed between the floor 2 and the upper surface 5 of the box 4, and serves to absorb all the sounds and noises which would be emitted between said box 4 and said floor 2 when the vehicle is in a rolling phase. However, such a layer of foam 7 showed some small shortcomings in terms of sound absorption.
- a foam 17 of a vehicle 10 according to the invention has improved sound absorption properties, by implementing at least one seal 20, 30 intended to come crashing down both against the floor 2 and against the upper surface 5 of the box 4.
- the foam 17 has an upper surface 18 intended to come into contact with the floor 2 and a lower surface 19 intended to come into contact with the upper surface 5 of the box 4, said two surfaces 18, 19 being parallel and extending horizontally when the vehicle 10 rests on horizontal ground.
- the upper surface 18 and the lower surface 19 of the foam 17 each has a seal 20 in the form of a rib emerging of said surface 18, 19.
- the joint 20 of one surface 18, 19 and the joint 20 of the other surface 18, 19 protrude in two opposite directions along a vertical axis Z, and create an extra thickness tending to widen the layer of foam 17.
- the seals 20 of the two surfaces 18, 19 are identical and have a cross section of rectangular shape, a long side L of this cross section materializing the width of the seal 20 and a short side I of said cross section corresponds to the height of the seal 20, 30 relative to the surface 18, 19 of the foam 17 on which it is placed.
- gasket 20 extends over upper surface 18 or over lower surface 19 forming a closed loop having a shape rectangular.
- the dimensions of this rectangular loop are smaller than those of the two surfaces 18, 19 of the foam 17 from which the seal 20 emerges.
- the seal 20 runs along the contour of the surface 18, 19 from which it emerges and extends therefore on the periphery of said surface 18, 19.
- the remaining spacing between the contour of the surface 18, 19 and the seal 20 is less than 10cm, and preferably is less than 5cm.
- the seal 20 is made of the same material as that of the foam 17 and advantageously the foam 17 and the seal 20 form a common part made by molding.
- the seal 20 is an added piece which is fixed to the foam 17.
- the seal 20 thus contributes to improving the sound absorption properties of the foam 17, and to ensuring a good seal between this foam 17 and the two elements constituted by the floor 2 and the upper surface 5 of the box 4.
- the upper surface 18 and the lower surface 19 of the foam 17 each has a seal 30 in the form of a hollow groove in said surface 18, 19.
- the groove materializing the joint 30 of each surface 18, 19 is delimited by a bottom 31 and by two parallel side walls 32, 33, said two side walls 32, 33 being perpendicular to said bottom 31 .
- the groove 30 of one surface 18, 19 and the groove 30 of the other surface 18, 19 are dug along a vertical axis Z, so that the distance separating the bottoms 31 of the two grooves 30 represents the minimum distance separating said grooves 30.
- the grooves 30 of the two surfaces 18, 19 are identical and each have a cross section of rectangular shape.
- seal 30 extends over upper surface 18 or lower surface 19 forming a closed loop having a rectangular shape.
- the dimensions of this rectangular loop are smaller than those of the two surfaces 18, 19 of the foam 17 in which were dug the grooves 30.
- the seal 30 runs along the contour of the surface 18, 19 in which it was dug and therefore extends around the periphery of said surface 18, 19.
- the remaining spacing between the contour of the surface 18, 19 and joint 30 is less than 10cm, and preferably is less than 5cm.
- This depression created at the seals 30, will thus contribute to improving the conditions of contact between the foam 17 and the floor 2 and between the foam 17 and the upper surface 5 of the box 4. It follows that these seals 30 will thus contribute to improve the sound absorption properties of the foam 17, and to ensure a good seal between this foam 17 and the two elements constituted by the floor 2 and the upper surface 5 of the box 4.

Description
Titre de l'invention : Véhicule doté d’un élément d’absorption acoustique entre un plancher et une batterie électrique Title of the invention: Vehicle equipped with a sound absorption element between a floor and an electric battery
The present invention relates to a vehicle provided with a sound absorption element between a floor and an electric battery.
In order to clearly understand the positioning of the various parts involved in a vehicle according to the invention, the description is made with reference to a direct orthonormal reference XYZ linked to said vehicle and in which X is a front-rear longitudinal axis of the vehicle oriented towards the rear, Y is a transverse axis directed towards the right of the vehicle and Z is a vertical axis directed upwards.
On certain types of vehicle having an electric battery, a layer of foam is inserted between a floor of the vehicle and said battery, which is placed under said floor. This layer of foam acts as a sound absorption element in order to limit the noise produced by the vibrations of the electric battery when the vehicle is in the driving phase.
Application DE102019002599 A1 describes a battery box arrangement on a motor vehicle chassis. This arrangement, which allows the battery case to be removed without damaging it, comprises a foam acoustic absorption element, placed between a floor and a battery cover. Sealing elements in the form of seals are positioned on the battery box. However, a disadvantage of this type of arrangement is that it involves a large number of parts, resulting in longer assembly time, greater sources of error and therefore significant additional costs.
A vehicle according to the invention has an arrangement involving a sound absorption element inserted between the floor and an electric battery placed under said floor, and overcoming the drawbacks encountered in the state of the art.
The subject of the invention is a vehicle comprising a floor and an electric battery placed under said floor, said vehicle further comprising a layer of sound-absorbing foam inserted between the floor and said battery so that said layer has an upper surface which is contact with the floor and a lower surface which is in contact with said battery.
According to the invention, at least one of said two surfaces forms at least one joint intended to increase the acoustic absorption of the foam inserted between the floor and the battery. Such a gasket is an integral part of the sound-absorbing foam and is used to increase the performance of said foam in terms of sound absorption, while ensuring a good seal between the foam and the floor, and/or between the foam and the electric battery. It is used to improve the conditions of contact between the foam and the floor and/or the battery. This gasket can take any shape, for example being constituted by a rib emerging from the surface on which it is placed, or by being for example constituted by a groove hollowed out in said surface. It should be specified that at least one of the two surfaces of the foam can form a single seal or a plurality of independent seals. Advantageously, the foam extends over the entire surface of the floor. Preferably, the floor has a rectangular shape and the foam also has a rectangular shape.
According to a possible characteristic of the invention, each of the two surfaces forms a seal. In this way, thanks to the presence of a seal on each of the two surfaces of the foam, it is in close contact both with the floor and with the battery. This results in a significant increase in sound absorption by the foam, compared to a foam without a joint, or a foam forming a joint only on one of the two surfaces. Advantageously, the shape of the joints is identical on the two surfaces of the foam. Preferably, each joint of one of the two surfaces is aligned in a vertical direction with a joint of the other surface.
According to a possible characteristic of the invention, the seal is constituted by a rib creating a bead emerging from the surface. Such a joint thus increases the dimensions of the foam. When the foam is inserted between the floor and the battery, one of the gaskets tends to crash against a surface of said flooring and the other gasket tends to crash against a surface of the battery.
According to a possible characteristic of the invention, the cross section of the joint is rectangular, a large side L of this cross section materializing the width of the joint and a short side I thereof corresponding to the height of the joint relative to the surface of the foam from which it emerges. This is a form of cross section which is particularly suitable for the vehicle according to the invention, to increase the acoustic absorption of the foam, but which is in no way limiting.
According to a possible characteristic of the invention, the joint is materialized by a groove creating a groove in the surface of the foam in which it was dug. The close contact between the foam and the floor and the battery is achieved by means of a depression created in the groove between said foam and said floor and said battery. For this configuration corresponding to a removal of material, said foam is found lightened.
According to a possible feature of the invention, the cross section of the groove representing the seal is rectangular. This is a cross-sectional shape which is particularly suitable for a vehicle according to the invention to increase the acoustic absorption of the foam, but which is in no way limiting.
According to a possible characteristic of the invention, the seal extends over the entire periphery of the surface of the foam. For this type of configuration, the seal will pass for example over the side members, and will be particularly effective in helping to increase the acoustic absorption of the foam. The periphery corresponding to the space between the outer edge delimiting the foam, and a fictitious inner edge having the same profile as that of said outer edge but with smaller dimensions, the width of said space being less than 10cm.
According to a possible characteristic of the invention, the joint forms a closed loop on the surface of the foam. This loop can take any shape and can for example be square, rectangular or circular.
According to a possible characteristic of the invention, the loop is rectangular in shape. Indeed, since in a good part of the cases the foam is rectangular in shape, it is desirable that the seal forms a rectangular loop to follow the contour of said foam.
According to a possible characteristic of the invention, the foam is made of polyurethane and has a polyethylene film. This is an example of foam particularly suitable for a vehicle according to the invention, but which is in no way limiting.
A vehicle according to the invention has the advantage of having a foam which is particularly effective vis-à-vis acoustic absorption between the floor and the electric battery, thanks to a judicious addition of a seal on the foam, requiring neither a change of foam nor the addition of bulky additional parts. In addition, a vehicle according to the invention has the advantage of having a foam interposed between the floor and the electric battery, which has a dual function: that of ensuring improved sound absorption and that of ensuring good sealing with the floor and/or the electric heater.
A detailed description of a preferred embodiment of a vehicle according to the invention is given below, with reference to the following figures:
[Fig. 1] représente une vue de côté dans un plan XZ d’une zone d’un véhicule selon l’état de la technique, comprenant un plancher, une mousse d’absorption acoustique et une batterie électrique [Fig. 1] represents a side view in an XZ plane of a zone of a vehicle according to the state of the art, comprising a floor, a sound absorption foam and an electric battery
[Fig. 2] représente une vue agrandie d’une partie de la zone de la figure 1 , montrant la mousse d’un premier mode de réalisation d’un véhicule selon l’invention, [Fig. 2] represents an enlarged view of part of the area of FIG. 1, showing the foam of a first embodiment of a vehicle according to the invention,
[Fig. 3] représente une vue agrandie d’une partie de la zone de la figure 1 , montrant la mousse d’un deuxième mode de réalisation d’un véhicule selon l’invention, [Fig. 3] represents an enlarged view of part of the area of FIG. 1, showing the foam of a second embodiment of a vehicle according to the invention,
[Fig. 4] shows a perspective view of a foam of a vehicle according to the invention, showing a seal on an upper surface of said foam.
Referring to Figure 1, a vehicle 1 according to the state of the art comprises a floor 2 extending in a substantially horizontal plane XY when the vehicle itself rests on horizontal ground, and an electric battery 3 housed in a box 4. When the battery 3 is mounted in the vehicle, the box 4 is found under the floor 2 and has a flat upper face 5 extending in a horizontal plane XY when the vehicle 1 itself rests on horizontal ground . Between the floor 2 and the upper surface 5 of the box 4, there remains a space 6 which is filled by a layer of foam 7, preferably made of polyurethane with a polyethylene film. The upper surface 5 of the box 4 and the floor 2 have substantially the same dimensions along a horizontal plane XY, and the foam 7 is inserted between the floor 2 and said upper surface 5 over substantially the entire horizontal surface of these two elements 2, 5.
Referring to Figures 2, 3 and 4, a foam 17 of a vehicle 10 according to the invention has improved sound absorption properties, by implementing at least one seal 20, 30 intended to come crashing down both against the floor 2 and against the upper surface 5 of the box 4. The foam 17 has an upper surface 18 intended to come into contact with the floor 2 and a lower surface 19 intended to come into contact with the upper surface 5 of the box 4, said two surfaces 18, 19 being parallel and extending horizontally when the vehicle 10 rests on horizontal ground.
Referring to Figure 2, according to a first embodiment of a vehicle 10 according to the invention, the upper surface 18 and the lower surface 19 of the foam 17 each has a seal 20 in the form of a rib emerging of said surface 18, 19. The joint 20 of one surface 18, 19 and the joint 20 of the other surface 18, 19 protrude in two opposite directions along a vertical axis Z, and create an extra thickness tending to widen the layer of foam 17. The seals 20 of the two surfaces 18, 19 are identical and have a cross section of rectangular shape, a long side L of this cross section materializing the width of the seal 20 and a short side I of said cross section corresponds to the height of the seal 20, 30 relative to the surface 18, 19 of the foam 17 on which it is placed.
Referring to Figure 4, gasket 20 extends over upper surface 18 or over lower surface 19 forming a closed loop having a shape rectangular. The dimensions of this rectangular loop are smaller than those of the two surfaces 18, 19 of the foam 17 from which the seal 20 emerges. In this way, the seal 20 runs along the contour of the surface 18, 19 from which it emerges and extends therefore on the periphery of said surface 18, 19. The remaining spacing between the contour of the surface 18, 19 and the seal 20 is less than 10cm, and preferably is less than 5cm. For this first embodiment, the seal 20 is made of the same material as that of the foam 17 and advantageously the foam 17 and the seal 20 form a common part made by molding. According to a variant embodiment, the seal 20 is an added piece which is fixed to the foam 17.
For this first embodiment, when the foam 17 is inserted between the floor 2 and the upper surface 5 of the box 4, it is compressed between these two elements and the seal 20 of the upper surface 18 comes crashing against said floor 2 and the seal 20 of the lower surface 19 is crushed against said upper surface 5 of the box 4. The seal 20 thus contributes to improving the sound absorption properties of the foam 17, and to ensuring a good seal between this foam 17 and the two elements constituted by the floor 2 and the upper surface 5 of the box 4.
Referring to Figure 3, according to a second embodiment of a vehicle 10 according to the invention, the upper surface 18 and the lower surface 19 of the foam 17 each has a seal 30 in the form of a hollow groove in said surface 18, 19. The groove materializing the joint 30 of each surface 18, 19 is delimited by a bottom 31 and by two parallel side walls 32, 33, said two side walls 32, 33 being perpendicular to said bottom 31 . The groove 30 of one surface 18, 19 and the groove 30 of the other surface 18, 19 are dug along a vertical axis Z, so that the distance separating the bottoms 31 of the two grooves 30 represents the minimum distance separating said grooves 30. The grooves 30 of the two surfaces 18, 19 are identical and each have a cross section of rectangular shape.
Referring to Figure 4, seal 30 extends over upper surface 18 or lower surface 19 forming a closed loop having a rectangular shape. The dimensions of this rectangular loop are smaller than those of the two surfaces 18, 19 of the foam 17 in which were dug the grooves 30. In this way, the seal 30 runs along the contour of the surface 18, 19 in which it was dug and therefore extends around the periphery of said surface 18, 19. The remaining spacing between the contour of the surface 18, 19 and joint 30 is less than 10cm, and preferably is less than 5cm. For this second embodiment, when the foam 17 is inserted between the floor 2 and the upper surface 5 of the box 4, it is compressed between these two elements 2.5 by creating a depression at the level of the two grooves materializing the seals 30. This depression created at the seals 30, will thus contribute to improving the conditions of contact between the foam 17 and the floor 2 and between the foam 17 and the upper surface 5 of the box 4. It follows that these seals 30 will thus contribute to improve the sound absorption properties of the foam 17, and to ensure a good seal between this foam 17 and the two elements constituted by the floor 2 and the upper surface 5 of the box 4.
