Abstract

This invention is the connection apparatus used in the assembly of donut type auto LPG tanks to motor vehicles, and it has removed the fasteners such as bolts, washers and nuts used in the current connection method, thus eliminating the need to open the holes on the vehicle and provide sealing. With the newly designed connection apparatus, functions were added to the ventilation pipe and the tank bottom plate, the number of holes that had to be opened on the vehicle was reduced to one, all processes for sealing were eliminated and the tank was mounted to the vehicle with the help of the new ventilation pipe.

Description

CONNECTION APPARATUS USED IN THE INSTAUUATION OF TOROID AU TYPE AUTO UPG TANKS TO MOTOR VEHICUES
FIEUD OF INVENTION:
This invention is an apparatus, which is using for installing the toroidal shaped LPG autogas tanks in to motor vehicles, which is using liquefied petroleum gases in their fuel system.
KNOWN ART:
Figure 1 and figure 2 in the annexed drawings show a method to installed tanks in the car as cross sectional view in vertical plane and top view plane. As shown in figure 1 and figure 2 toroidal shaped LPG tanks installing in the car boot (1) at spare wheel compartment (2) space in horizontal plane and filling with LPG in closed area (4) with the internal space (6) by internal wall(5) of the tank. This internal space (6) uses to install tanks (3) in to car. Top of this internal space (6) closes by a cover named as “Gas Tightening Cover” just after the installation completed. The internal space (6) isolating by cover. The internal space (6) bordering with another bottom plate (7) which also uses for fixing the tank (3) in car body too. A ventilation pipe (11) adds to bottom plate (7) for ventilating the internal space (6). Two bolts (8) or studs that can do the same job are used to connecting the tank. This bolt (8) goes to under the car through bottom plate (7) and fixes the tank (3) to car body with using washer (9) and nut (10). In addition, opens a hole in the bottom of spare wheel compartment (2) and a ventilation pipe (11) comes out through this hole to ventilating the internal space (6) to put away the danger against the possibility of leaking of LPG. This ventilation pipe hole uses for installing the copper pipes which are using fill to tank and using to servicing fuel to engine too. In order to connect the tank and to ventilate the compartment, first of all, three holes are drilled in the base of the vehicle spare tire compartment (2), two for the screws (8) to pass, and one for the ventilation pipe (11) to pass, and all three holes must be sealed in the current situation. OBJECTIVE OF THE INVENTION:
The aim of this invention is to reduce the number of materials used in connecting the LPG tank to the vehicle and the number of holes that need to be drilled, thus reducing the material and labour costs, eliminating the positioning problems during assembly, thus shortening the installation time, making the ventilation function healthier, in case of possible gas leakage or reducing the LPG pressure and to provide faultless ventilation in case of dangerous evacuation.

DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION:
The invention is used in the connection process of the toroidal shaped LPG tank (3), in the vehicle boot compartment (1), to the spare wheel compartment (2), as in the pictures shown in figure 3 and figure 4: Without changing the main characters in the tank structure, a hole is drilled on the base of the vehicle spare wheel compartment (2) as seen in figure 10, where the new ventilation pipe (13) can pass. As seen in Figure 5 and Figure 6, the inner (female) screwed muff (12) has been added on the tank bottom flange (7). As seen in Figure 3 and Figure 4, the LPG tank (3) is placed in the vehicle spare wheel compartment (2). As can be seen in Figure 8 and Figure 9, first the washer flange (14) is attached to the new ventilation pipe (13) seen in Figure 7 and placed on the stepped stage (13c) by processing under the vehicle. The ventilation pipe (13) is pushed upwards through the hole drilled in the base of the vehicle spare wheel compartment (2), and it is brought together with the inner screw muff (12). By rotating the ventilation pipe (13), it is ensured that the screw threads (13a) at the end are interlocked with the inner screw muff screw threads (12a). As the rotation of the ventilation pipe (13) continues, together with the flange washer (14) moves upwards. It is continued to rotate until the flange washer (14) touches the base of the vehicle spare wheel compartment (2). In order to ensure that the connection is strong enough, the ventilation pipe (13) is tightened by turning the ventilation pipe (13) shown in figure 7, by attaching a shaft of sufficient strength to the tightening holes (13b) located near its lower end. Different vehicle manufacturers produce the spare wheel compartment (2) in the boot in different sizes due to their designs. The screw threads (13a) on the ventilation pipe (13) and the inner screw muff (12) are produced in long lengths and are also used in the trunk spare wheel compartment (2), which has different sizes in different model vehicles. As a part of the tank production, when the bottom flange (7) and the inner (female) screwed muff (12) are combined, there is no need to provide additional sealing in the single hole drilled in the base of the spare tire housing (2), since the sealing conditions are met. Since the spare wheel compartment (2) in the boot (1) and the washer flange (14) come into contact with the large surface, the deformation on the vehicle caused by the tightening force required for the connection is prevented. In addition, this ventilation pipe (13) is also used as a route to the copper pipes laid for LPG supply and use. The connection seen in figure 3, figure 4 and figure 11 is thus completed.
APPLICATION OF THE INVENTION TO INDUSTRY:
The invention is the method used in the assembly of toroidal type LPG tanks used as fuel tanks of motor vehicles using LPG in alternative fuel systems, providing ease of assembly, reducing the number of parts used, accelerating the modification process on the vehicle, and ensuring that the connection is safe and leak-proof at the same time.
