Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zum Betreiben eines Waschautomaten mit einem Laugenbehälter (2) zur Aufnahme von Wasser (13), einer in dem Laugenbehälter (2) drehbar gelagerten Trommel (3) zur Aufnahme von Wäsche (8), einem Motor zum Antreiben der Trommel (3) und einer Steuer- oder Regeleinrichtung, wobei das Verfahren einen Schritt zum Entknittern von sich in der Trommel (3) befindender trockener Wäsche (8) aufweist, bei dem die Trommel (3) mit Hilfe des Motors in eine Rechts-Links-Bewegung derart über eine vorbestimmte Zeitdauer versetzt wird, dass eine Pendelbewegung der trockenen Wäsche (8) derart verursacht wird, dass die trockene Wäsche (8) in der Trommel (3) mechanisch bewegt wird.
