Definitions
- the invention relates to a training device for training individual, specific muscle groups in the upper body, with a seat being moved during training in relation to an upper body contact element against a counterforce acting in at least one direction of movement.
- Targeted training In order to ensure training of smaller muscles in particular, targeted training for a single, specific muscle group has proven itself. Since targeted training avoids compensation from other muscles, targeted muscle development near the joints can be guaranteed. Targeted training also has benefits for injured individuals who cannot train all muscles to the same extent.
- the joints in the body act as pivot points around which other parts of the body, such as bones, are moved by the muscles in a pendulum-like manner.
- An example of this is the elbow joint, around which the forearm can move like a pendulum.
- the pelvis can also be moved around the individual vertebrae of the spine. The pelvis can thus be moved on a curved path, like a pendulum, around one of the vertebrae.
- a training device for the trunk muscles is in the DE 9405749 U1 described.
- the legs are fixed so that the upper body, which has fallen on an air-filled ball, can be lifted against its weight.
- different muscle groups are used.
- the disadvantage here is that the deep-seated muscles of the hip joint are not specifically addressed.
- a training device with which the muscles in the lumbar region can be strengthened DE 10 2011 085 571 A1 famous. This muscle group requires special attention because many people have underdeveloped muscles in this area due to frequent, long sitting, which can lead to severe pain.
- This training device has a frame, a seat with a seat for free sitting without touching the ground, at least one backrest, a fixing device for the pelvis and a fixing device for the hands or arms. The seat with the fixing device for the pelvis can be moved relative to the backrest with the fixing device for the hands and arms.
- the object is achieved by a training device according to the independent claim.
- Advantageous developments of the invention are specified in the dependent claims.
- the pelvis When training with the training device, the pelvis performs a pendulum-like movement with the seat. According to the invention, the pelvis moves back and forth on a curved path. To ensure this, the seat can be moved along a curved path.
- the pelvis performs a swinging movement around a joint, i.e. in particular around one of the vertebrae in the upper body.
- a pendulum-like movement corresponds to the natural course of movement in the body, in which the muscles use other parts of the body as a fulcrum move the acting joint. This trains the muscles surrounding the corresponding joint or vertebra.
- the seat itself is not such a bearing element for the legs or feet, even if the upper part of the thighs rests on it.
- the seat is designed in such a way that only the buttocks area is supported and there is no possibility of supporting the legs or feet.
- the buttocks area can also include the upper area of the thighs, ie the upper 50% of the thighs or preferably the upper 20% of the thighs or particularly preferably the upper 10% of the thighs.
- a support for the legs or feet is also any fixation or resting of the legs or feet, in particular the lower area of the legs from the middle of the thighs down and the feet.
- the exerciser is advantageously deprived of the opportunity, for example, to support himself/herself via fixing elements acting on the lower legs in such a way that the thigh muscles or the outer hip muscles take over the power to move the seat and thus the lower-lying, vertebral muscles relieved.
- the thigh or hip muscles cannot be used to move the pelvis and thus the seat when the upper body is stationary. Compensation by the hip and thigh muscles is thus avoided.
- the seat is designed in the form of a saddle, for example in the form of a bicycle saddle.
- Another variant provides for a fixation of the pelvis in that the trainee sinks into a soft surface of the seat in such a way that there is sufficient friction to keep the buttocks and thus the pelvis on the to fix the seat. Slipping is thus prevented by the weight exerted by the user.
- the seat is designed with a planar upper side. The seat has no side bolsters or other fixing elements.
- the seat preferably has a foam covered with a cover.
- the friction between the seat and the person exercising is determined by the degree of hardness of the foam and the choice of material, such as leather or synthetic leather or fabric, for the cover.
- the surface of the seat preferably has sufficient roughness.
- the seat has a rectangular shape with a length in the direction of the seat.
- the length is less than 30 cm or 25 cm or 20 cm.
- the seat is then designed only as a contact surface. It does not create any support for the legs, not even for the upper part of the thighs, which creates a compulsion to perform the exercises correctly.
- the short seat reduces the possibility of using the legs to support yourself like a lever and then relieving the muscles in the upper body area that are actually to be trained using the hip muscles.
- the length of the seat is arranged in the direction of the seat, so during training the length is parallel to the ventral and dorsal main direction of the person exercising.
- a needs-based adjustment of the counterforce advantageously enables training that is adapted to the training condition of the respective person.
- the counterforce to be overcome during training is preferably adjusted by varying the inclination of the entire training unit and thus the direction of movement of the seat relative to the floor.
- the inclination of the training unit also adjusts the inclination of the direction of movement of the seat element. As the seat moves in an arcuate path, the inclination of the path is also changed, i.e. the path is tilted.
- the direction of movement of the seat element is also adjusted, as a result of which the angle to the horizontal is determined.
- a change in the direction of movement always affects the proportion of weight on the seat element, which means that the training intensity of the exercise can be adjusted effectively and easily.
- the training unit is tilted or tilted about an axis of inclination in such a way that the direction of movement of the seat runs in a plane which is arranged perpendicularly to the axis of inclination of the training device.
- the training unit is preferably arranged so that it can be adjusted in relation to the support frame.
- the counterforce can also be realized by additional weights or by using a rubber band or by using a cable pull system.
- the distance between the upper body bearing element and the joint can also preferably be adjusted and fixed in different positions.
- the upper body contact element can be adjusted and fixed in different positions and at different distances from the seat.
- the upper body bearing element is preferably designed as a backrest or as a side rest or as a backrest for the front area of the upper body.
- Upper body contact element designed as a contact element for the upper upper body, ie in particular for the shoulder and chest area.
- the upper body contact element can also be designed as a rest for supporting the lower upper body, in particular the lumbar region.
- the lower abdominal muscles i.e. the external, oblique abdominal muscles (musculus obliquus externus) and the internal, oblique abdominal muscles (musculus obliquus internus) as well as the straight abdominal muscles (musculus rectus abdominis) are stimulated and trained.
- the hip flexors which are also referred to as hip flexors, are advantageously unable to act in a compensatory manner.
- the deep back muscles in particular the multi-feathered muscle (musculus multifidus), are trained.
- the hip extensors which are also known as hip extensors, cannot have a compensatory effect. The trainee is thus deprived of the opportunity to simplify the exercise by having the hip extensors relieve the deep back muscles that are actually to be trained. The exerciser is forced to stimulate the deep back muscles, making the deep back muscle training much more effective.
- the upper body contact element is designed as a side rest. This specifically trains the transverse abdominal muscles (musculus transversus abdominis).
- the hip abductors which are also referred to as hip spreaders, advantageously cannot act in a compensatory manner.
- the invention will be explained in more detail below using exemplary embodiments.
- the exemplary embodiments relate to various embodiments of a training device according to the invention and are intended to describe the invention without restricting it.
- FIG. 1a shows a training device 1 with a support frame 2 and a training unit 3.
- the training unit 3 has an upper body bearing element 4 and a seat 5.
- the upper body contact element 4 is designed as a backrest 4 with a curvature 4A in the lower region.
- Two fixing elements 6 for the arms or hands in the form of handles 6 are arranged above the upper body contact element 4 .
- the seat 5 is designed here as a contact surface with a small length 5L in the direction of the seat. Such a narrow seat 5 only provides a support surface for the buttocks of the exerciser, while the thighs are not supported.
- the seat 5 thus serves as a contact surface for the ischial tuberosities.
- the seat 5 is coupled to the training unit 3 via a joint 7 .
- the person exercising can move the seat 5 with the backrest 4 stationary, so that the seat 5 performs an arcuate movement around the joint 7 .
- the seat 5 is moved about the joint 7 in the manner of a pendulum on a circular path.
- Figure 1b shows the training device 1 with the support frame 2 and the training unit 3 in a rear view.
- the handles 6 are detachably fixed to the backrest 4 and the seat 5 is designed as a narrow contact surface. It is crucial that only the buttocks can be supported on the seat 5.
- Storage or fixing elements for the thighs, lower legs, knees or feet are not available, as they would cause the trainee to facilitate the exercise by using other muscle groups, such as the thigh muscles, to seat 5 against a to move with some force.
- a crank 8 is arranged on the training device 1 to adjust the incline of the training unit 3 .
- the inclination of the training unit 3 can be set in different positions relative to the support frame 2, whereby the training intensity can be adjusted.
- This training device 1 is shown in a perspective view diagonally from above 1c shown.
- FIG 2a a side view of the training device 1 is shown.
- the upper body contact element 4 is also designed here as a backrest 4 with a curvature in the lower area. The curvature prevents the upper body from being at a distance from the upper body contact element 4 in this area during training.
- This type of fixation of the upper body on the upper body contact element 4 causes the relevant deeper muscles in the upper body to be trained in this area and the person exercising does not simplify the exercise by involving other, stronger muscles in the training via lever movements, here in particular of the upper body includes.
- the seat 5 is slidably arranged on rigid connecting elements 9 and can be displaced along the rigid connecting elements 9 and thus adjusted in height. This makes it possible to choose between different deep muscles along the spine. Primarily those muscles are trained which are arranged at the height of the joint 7 around which the seat and thus also the pelvis perform a pendulum-like movement during training.
- FIG 2b a rear view of this training device 1 is shown.
- the training device 1 is shown in a side view.
- the seat 5 is shown here in a pivoted position, the seat 5 being connected to the joint 7 via rigid connecting elements 9 .
- the seat 5 and the connecting elements 9 can be pivoted about the joint 7 in the manner of a pendulum.
- the pelvis of an exerciser sitting on the seat 5 moves with the seat 5 like a pendulum during training, so that the pelvis has a pendulum-like movement around the corresponding vertebra of the upper body.
- the seat 5 and the elongated connecting elements 9 can be pivoted by up to 60° during training, while the upper body contact element 4 and the handles 6 remain in place.
- FIG. 3b A side view of such a training device 1 with a height-adjustable seat 5 is shown in Figure 3b shown.
- the seat 5 is arranged here in a lower position than in the figures 3a and 1a until 1c is shown.
- the distance between the seat 5 and the joint 7 and thus the height of the seat 5 can be adjusted via a crank for adjusting the seat height 10 by means of a spindle gear. Due to the greater distance between the seat 5 and the joint 7, the pelvis moves like a pendulum around those vertebrae of the upper body which are arranged further up. The pivot point in the upper body is thus shifted upwards, so that muscles located higher up are stimulated and trained.
- the training device 1 is shown with a training unit 3 inclined by 45° in relation to the support frame 2 .
- the inclination of the training unit 3 can be adjusted and fixed in different positions. This allows the intensity of the training to be varied at different levels.
- the trainee places his back against the upper body contact element 4, which is designed here as a backrest, and moves the seat 5 in a curved path, with gravity having an increased influence.
- the training unit 3 is connected via a coupling rod 11 to a spindle gear, which can be actuated via a crank for tilt adjustment 8.
- the training device 1 is shown with an incline of the training unit 3 of 180°.
- the backrest 4 is oriented horizontally and the seat 5 is oriented vertically.
- FIG. 5 A further variant with an upper body contact element 4 arranged on the support frame 2 and designed as a side rest 4 is in figure 5 shown schematically.
- the trainee shown here from the front moves the pelvis arranged on the seat 5 in a lateral movement along the direction of the pendulum movement 12.
- the upper body is fixed by resting on the side rest 4 and by holding the hands on the handles 6 connected to the side rest 4 .
- the seat 5 is connected to a joint 7 via rigid connecting elements 9, as a result of which the seat 5 can be moved on a curved path.
- the legs or feet of the person exercising cannot be supported in such a way that the person exercising uses the hip abductors, which are usually better trained, incorrectly for exercising via lever movements.

Description
The invention relates to a training device for training individual, specific muscle groups in the upper body, with a seat being moved during training in relation to an upper body contact element against a counterforce acting in at least one direction of movement.
A large number of training devices for different muscle groups of the human body are already known. Simultaneous training of a large number of muscle groups has the disadvantage, however, that only some of these muscle groups apply the main part of the force required for the execution of the movement and thus other muscle groups are not stimulated and trained with sufficient intensity.
However, a lack of sufficiently trained, deep-seated muscles repeatedly leads to serious health problems, since the joints are not sufficiently supported by the muscles. This is particularly relevant for the muscles in the upper body, such as the back muscles, which support the spine. The lateral and anterior muscles of the upper body are also relevant, as the muscles work together and provide overall upper body support. For good support of the spine, it is particularly important that the deep muscles close to the vertebrae are sufficiently developed. In addition to the back muscles, the deeper, small, side and front muscles should also be sufficiently trained.
In order to ensure training of smaller muscles in particular, targeted training for a single, specific muscle group has proven itself. Since targeted training avoids compensation from other muscles, targeted muscle development near the joints can be guaranteed. Targeted training also has benefits for injured individuals who cannot train all muscles to the same extent.
Basically, the joints in the body act as pivot points around which other parts of the body, such as bones, are moved by the muscles in a pendulum-like manner. An example of this is the elbow joint, around which the forearm can move like a pendulum. In this way, the pelvis can also be moved around the individual vertebrae of the spine. The pelvis can thus be moved on a curved path, like a pendulum, around one of the vertebrae.
In order to adequately stimulate the muscles in the various joints, such as the hip joint or individual vertebrae of the spine, which are particularly relevant to health, the aim of the training is to implement the resistances against which the muscles have to work as close as possible to the joint, i.e. close to the pivot point generate resistance. This trains the muscles that surround and protect the joint.
Training devices for the leg muscles, the hip muscles or the muscles in the lumbar region are known from the prior art for the special training of the muscles surrounding the joint.
The disadvantage is that the exercise to strengthen the muscles in the lumbar region with this device is repeatedly carried out incorrectly by the trainee, which jeopardizes the success of the training. It is particularly problematic that muscle groups other than those in the lumbar region are used to move the seat against a certain force. Well-trained, outer muscles then compensate for the force that should actually be applied by the deeper muscles. This is achieved by the trainees in particular by using other muscles via lever movements of the legs, and sometimes also the arms.
So far, the problem has been solved by experienced, trained trainers and physiotherapists accompanying the exercises and repeatedly pointing out errors in the execution. Since the trainees, despite such instruction and support, repeatedly fail to perform the exercises correctly, regular and close supervision of the trainees is essential to ensure effective training with such a training device. This causes a high expenditure of time and money.
The object of the invention is to provide a training device that makes incorrect execution of the exercise significantly more difficult and thus forces correct execution of the exercise for training the muscles in the lumbar region, so that the exerciser performs the exercise intuitively correctly and the deeper muscles are effectively stimulated.
According to the invention, the object is achieved by a training device according to the independent claim. Advantageous developments of the invention are specified in the dependent claims.
The object is achieved in particular by a training device for training individual muscle groups in the upper body, which has a support frame and a training unit. The training unit has an upper body contact element and a seat. The seat can be moved on an arcuate path relative to the upper body contact element in such a way that the pelvis can be moved in a pendulum manner against an adjustable counterforce acting in at least one direction of movement when the upper body is resting against the upper body contact element. The seat is designed in such a way that only the buttocks area is supported and that no elements for supporting the legs or feet are arranged on the training device. There are also no elements for fixing the pelvis on the seat that are in contact with the legs or feet on the training device. Thus, no elements are arranged on the training device on which the trainee could support his legs during training.
When training with the training device, the pelvis performs a pendulum-like movement with the seat. According to the invention, the pelvis moves back and forth on a curved path. To ensure this, the seat can be moved along a curved path. During training, the pelvis performs a swinging movement around a joint, i.e. in particular around one of the vertebrae in the upper body. Such a pendulum-like movement corresponds to the natural course of movement in the body, in which the muscles use other parts of the body as a fulcrum move the acting joint. This trains the muscles surrounding the corresponding joint or vertebra.
The upper body is fixed to the upper body contact element. This fixation can be done by pressing the upper body against the upper body contact element by the trainee himself, with the application or pressing of the upper body against the upper body contact element being supported by other elements arranged on the training device, such as belts. The seat is preferably movable with a fixed backrest.
The counterforce preferably acts in one direction of movement. As a result, in order to move the seat in one direction, the person exercising has to exert an increased force to move the seat and thus to overcome this opposing force. The return movement of the seat also occurs under the influence of the counterforce. The opposing force pushes the seat back, thus supporting the return movement. When moving back, no effort is required to overcome the opposing force, but effort is required to move the seat back in a controlled manner, i.e. slowly. The return movement corresponds to an eccentric movement of the muscles. Preferably, the return movement is performed as a controlled return movement using the appropriate muscles to be exercised. Depending on the direction of the opposing force, different muscles are required to move the seat using the upper body muscles. The direction of the opposing force can therefore be used to determine whether the muscles to be trained are those in the back, those in the abdominal area or lateral muscles. The corresponding muscles are stimulated by the counter-force to be overcome and the intensity of the training can be adjusted depending on the level of counter-force set.
A reduction in the possibilities for compensation by other muscles is primarily achieved by the training device according to the invention in that the unwanted possibilities for support by the feet and especially also by the legs have been eliminated. Advantageously, the person exercising cannot facilitate the exercise by means of lever movements on fixing elements or support options. There are therefore no elements provided on the training device which can serve as contact elements for the legs or feet, nor any through which a fixation of the pelvis on the seat should be realized in the first place. The training device is designed in such a way that the trainees can neither support their legs nor their feet on the floor or on the training device. This advantageously deprives the trainees of the opportunity to support themselves on the contact elements, so that a correct execution of the exercise is enforced with the exclusion of compensating lever movements. The seat itself is not such a bearing element for the legs or feet, even if the upper part of the thighs rests on it. According to the invention, the seat is designed in such a way that only the buttocks area is supported and there is no possibility of supporting the legs or feet. The buttocks area can also include the upper area of the thighs, ie the upper 50% of the thighs or preferably the upper 20% of the thighs or particularly preferably the upper 10% of the thighs. However, there is no possibility of supporting the other part of the thighs on the training device. Within the meaning of the invention, a support for the legs or feet is also any fixation or resting of the legs or feet, in particular the lower area of the legs from the middle of the thighs down and the feet. The training device thus has no elements that rest on the middle and lower area of the thighs, the lower legs, the knees or feet or fix them in any way. The leg and feet hang freely and the pelvis is held on the seat primarily by the fact that there is some friction between the seat and the buttocks. Increased muscle exertion may be necessary for the correct fit. The pelvis is particularly preferably only in contact with the seat through the ischial tuberosity (tuber ischiadicum), so that the seat can be moved by a pendulum movement of the pelvis around a vertebra in the upper body in such a way that the seat is moved on an arcuate path.
Due to the lack of support options for the legs or feet, the exerciser is advantageously deprived of the opportunity, for example, to support himself/herself via fixing elements acting on the lower legs in such a way that the thigh muscles or the outer hip muscles take over the power to move the seat and thus the lower-lying, vertebral muscles relieved. When training with the training device according to the invention, the thigh or hip muscles cannot be used to move the pelvis and thus the seat when the upper body is stationary. Compensation by the hip and thigh muscles is thus avoided.
Due to the lack of fixing elements on the legs for fixing the pelvis, the pelvis is only fixed by the seat itself. In order to enable the pelvis to be fixed on the seat, a special configuration of the seat itself is required. The fixation of the pelvis on the seat preferably results from the friction between the seat and the person exercising.
In one possible embodiment, the seat is designed in the form of a saddle, for example in the form of a bicycle saddle. Another variant provides for a fixation of the pelvis in that the trainee sinks into a soft surface of the seat in such a way that there is sufficient friction to keep the buttocks and thus the pelvis on the to fix the seat. Slipping is thus prevented by the weight exerted by the user. In an advantageous embodiment, the seat is designed with a planar upper side. The seat has no side bolsters or other fixing elements.
The seat preferably has a foam covered with a cover. The friction between the seat and the person exercising is determined by the degree of hardness of the foam and the choice of material, such as leather or synthetic leather or fabric, for the cover. The surface of the seat preferably has sufficient roughness.
In a particularly preferred variant, the seat has a rectangular shape with a length in the direction of the seat. In a suitable variant, the length is less than 30 cm or 25 cm or 20 cm. The seat is then designed only as a contact surface. It does not create any support for the legs, not even for the upper part of the thighs, which creates a compulsion to perform the exercises correctly. The short seat reduces the possibility of using the legs to support yourself like a lever and then relieving the muscles in the upper body area that are actually to be trained using the hip muscles. According to the invention, the length of the seat is arranged in the direction of the seat, so during training the length is parallel to the ventral and dorsal main direction of the person exercising.
A needs-based adjustment of the counterforce advantageously enables training that is adapted to the training condition of the respective person. The counterforce to be overcome during training is preferably adjusted by varying the inclination of the entire training unit and thus the direction of movement of the seat relative to the floor. The inclination of the training unit also adjusts the inclination of the direction of movement of the seat element. As the seat moves in an arcuate path, the inclination of the path is also changed, i.e. the path is tilted. By fixing the training unit in a specific position, ie at a specific angle of inclination, the direction of movement of the seat element is also adjusted, as a result of which the angle to the horizontal is determined. A change in the direction of movement always affects the proportion of weight on the seat element, which means that the training intensity of the exercise can be adjusted effectively and easily.
If the seat has to be moved further upwards due to the incline, the weight, which is also caused by the exerciser himself, has a greater influence and the counteracting force increases with a more tilted training session. At a greater influence of weight, the person exercising has to use more force to move the seat element, which means that effective training can be guaranteed. The training unit is preferably mounted such that it can be tilted about an axis of inclination relative to the support frame in such a way that the inclination of the training unit relative to the ground can be varied and fixed in different positions.
In an advantageous embodiment, the training device has a manual or driven gear, which is arranged between the training unit and the support frame. The gearbox is used to adjust the incline of the training unit. The gear can be designed as a worm gear, in particular as a self-locking or self-locking worm gear. In a possible variant, another component is arranged on the worm gear, which brings about the self-locking effect.
In an advantageous variant, the training unit is tilted or tilted about an axis of inclination in such a way that the direction of movement of the seat runs in a plane which is arranged perpendicularly to the axis of inclination of the training device.
The training unit is preferably arranged so that it can be adjusted in relation to the support frame. In possible design variants, however, the counterforce can also be realized by additional weights or by using a rubber band or by using a cable pull system.
To optimize the training and to adapt to different needs, the training device is preferably designed in such a way that the distance between the seat in the rest position and the upper body contact element can be adjusted and fixed at different distances.
In a particularly suitable embodiment, the seat is connected to the upper body contact element via a joint, which is preferably designed as a rotary joint, and the distance between the seat and the joint can be variably adjusted and fixed. Due to the height of the joint in relation to the user's body, the exercise can be initiated in different muscle groups. The area that is located at the height of the joint around which the seat moves on an arc-shaped path is always particularly stimulated and stressed. For example, if the joint is located at the height of a lumbar vertebra, the muscles around this lumbar vertebra are particularly strengthened by the training. The pelvis then executes a pendulum-like movement around the corresponding lumbar vertebra. Thus, by adjusting the height of the joint around which the seat moves on a curved path, the muscle segment to be trained can be varied and specifically stressed.
For this purpose, the seat is preferably coupled to the joint via telescoping elements. Within the meaning of the invention, telescopic elements are understood to be extendable, interlocking tubular elements or elements in the manner of a hollow profile. Other coupling elements are also possible, which can be adjusted in length. The change in the distance between the swivel joint and the seat element is relevant here.
The distance between the upper body bearing element and the joint can also preferably be adjusted and fixed in different positions.
According to an advantageous embodiment, the training device has a shelf or fixing elements for the arms or hands. The fixing elements are particularly preferably designed as handles. Alternatively, the trainees can also hold on to the backrest, but in particular handles arranged in front of the backrest, i.e. those that are easy to reach for the arms and hands when the upper body is put on, enable the upper body to be comfortably fixed. An alternative possibility of fixing the upper body are straps which connect the upper body to the upper body contact element.
The training device is preferably designed in such a way that the movement of the seat runs on an arcuate path. The curved path can be described as a polygon of the nth order, ie it can be designed as any curved path. A possible embodiment is an elliptical path. The movement of the seat preferably runs on a circular path.
In a particularly suitable variant, the seat is connected to the upper body bearing element via a joint designed as a rotary joint. The arcuate path of the seat then results from a pendulum movement of the seat about the pivot. In one possible embodiment, the seat is connected to the swivel joint by means of elongated elements, so that the seat can be moved around the swivel joint in the manner of a rigid pendulum. According to an alternative embodiment, the training device has a curved guide on which the seat can be moved in a guided manner.
According to one possible embodiment, the upper body contact element can be adjusted and fixed in different positions and at different distances from the seat.
The upper body bearing element is preferably designed as a backrest or as a side rest or as a backrest for the front area of the upper body. In a special variant that is Upper body contact element designed as a contact element for the upper upper body, ie in particular for the shoulder and chest area. Alternatively, the upper body contact element can also be designed as a rest for supporting the lower upper body, in particular the lumbar region. By choosing which part of the upper body the trainee supports himself with, the muscle to be trained is determined in connection with the direction of the opposing force.
In one embodiment with a backrest, the lower abdominal muscles, i.e. the external, oblique abdominal muscles (musculus obliquus externus) and the internal, oblique abdominal muscles (musculus obliquus internus) as well as the straight abdominal muscles (musculus rectus abdominis) are stimulated and trained. The hip flexors, which are also referred to as hip flexors, are advantageously unable to act in a compensatory manner.
In another embodiment, in which the upper body contact element is designed as a rest for the front area of the upper body, the deep back muscles, in particular the multi-feathered muscle (musculus multifidus), are trained. The hip extensors, which are also known as hip extensors, cannot have a compensatory effect. The trainee is thus deprived of the opportunity to simplify the exercise by having the hip extensors relieve the deep back muscles that are actually to be trained. The exerciser is forced to stimulate the deep back muscles, making the deep back muscle training much more effective.
In a further embodiment, the upper body contact element is designed as a side rest. This specifically trains the transverse abdominal muscles (musculus transversus abdominis). The hip abductors, which are also referred to as hip spreaders, advantageously cannot act in a compensatory manner.
