Description

DESCRIPTION
HINGE FOR DOORS OR WINDOWS.
Technical field
This invention relates to a hinge for doors and windows.
More specifically, this type of hinge is of the type known as‘concealed hinge’.
The definition of this type of hinge is given due to the fact that, with the movable sash closed, the hinge is not visible from the outside. Background art
In fact, this type of hinge comprises, in a prior art solution described in patent document EP 1 223 278:
- a first hinge body provided with a socket; the first hinge body can be associated in a corresponding recessed cavity made on the profile of an upright of the fixed frame;
- a pin defining the axis of rotation of the hinge is positioned and constrained inside the socket of the first hinge body;
- a wing integral with the pin, projecting radially from the pin, and having a curved profile;
- a first connection plate associated on the free tapered end of the wing;
- a second hinge body with a flat profile fixed on the outer surface of the profile of the mobile frame or sash;
- a second plate shaped in the form of a ‘C’, associated with and protruding from the second hinge body, and configured to allow, by means of a horizontal movement, the front entrance of the first connection plate between the wings of the‘C’ of the second plate in such a way as to position the first plate on both sides and inside the‘C’; the second plate is equipped with opposite vertical cavities for the entry of screw means for locking between the first and second plate.
This solution, which makes it possible to mount the two hinge bodies separated in a fixed position and with the actual rotation pin housed in the fixed frame, has several drawbacks.
The assembly between the two hinge bodies is extremely complex and requires at least two operators, since the front movement towards each other between the two hinge bodies, in a horizontal direction, is very complex and makes the assembly slow to allow a correct coupling and fixing of the corresponding two screws for each hinge.
The mounting of this hinge is made even more difficult in the case of a heavy door or window.
In addition to the above-mentioned factors, there is the low mechanical seal of the hinge, over time, due to the fragility of the joining in a cantilever fashion of the two plates which, in effect, must often be adjusted or replaced, especially if the door or window is stressed during opening and closing with angles of opening of more than 180°.
Disclosure of the invention
The aim of the invention is to provide a hinge for doors and windows which overcomes the above-mentioned drawbacks of the prior art.
More specifically, the aim of the invention is to provide a hinge for doors and windows which is able to simplify and render precise the assembly of the hinge bodies on the door or window.
A further aim of the invention is to provide a hinge for doors and windows which is able to increase the reliability of the hinge bodies, in use, through a simplification of the components of the hinge.
These aims are fully achieved by the hinge for doors and windows according to the invention as characterised in the appended claims.
Brief description of drawings
The main features of the invention will become more apparent from the following detailed description of a preferred, non-limiting embodiment, illustrated purely by way of example in the accompanying drawings, in which:
- Figures 1 , 2 and 3 illustrate the hinge for doors and windows according to the invention applied to a door or window and in three different assembly steps; the drawings are all perspective views;
- Figures 4 and 5 illustrate the hinge mounted on the door or window according to the above-mentioned drawings and in two different operating configurations of the door or window; the two drawings are perspective views;
- Figures 6 and 7 are a perspective view and an exploded perspective view, respectively, of a part of the hinge of the above-mentioned drawings;
- Figures 8, 9 and 10 illustrate the hinge of the above-mentioned drawings mounted on the door or window in three different operating configurations; all the drawings are schematic top plan views with some parts cut away to better illustrate others;
- Figures 1 1 and 12 illustrate a perspective view and an exploded perspective view, respectively, of a variant embodiment of a part of the hinge of Figures 6 and 7.
Detailed description of preferred embodiments of the invention
With reference to the accompanying drawings, and with particular reference to Figures 1 to 3, the hinge according to the invention, labelled 100 in its entirety, is of ‘concealed’ type and is used on doors and windows.
The hinge 100 for doors and windows comprises a first hinge body 1 having a central socket 2 (or hollow chamber).
The first hinge body 1 is associated on the profile of an upright 3 of a fixed frame provided with a matching cavity for housing the central socket 2 of the first body hinge 1.
The hinge 100 comprises a pin 4 defining a vertical axis Z of rotation of the hinge 100 and is positioned and constrained inside the socket 2 of the first hinge body 1. The hinge 100 also comprises a first wing 5 integral with the rotation pin 4 and protruding radially from the rotation pin 4.
Moreover, the hinge 100 comprises a second hinge body 6 with a flat profile fixed on the outer surface of the profile of an upright 7 of a mobile frame or sash.
A second wing 8 is integral with the second hinge body 6 and protruding from the second hinge body 6.
The hinge 100 also comprises a device 9 for stable joining between the first 5 and second 8 wing positioned between the first 5 and second 8 wing.
As illustrated (see also Figures 4 to 7), the stable joining device 9 between the first 5 and the second 8 wing comprises a pair of pins 10, 1 1 parallel to each other, associated with the first wing 5.
The pair of pins 10, 1 1 protrudes transversely from the first wing 5, parallel to the axis Z of vertical rotation, and slidably coupled, in a pair of respective cavities 12, 13 made on the second wing 8 in such a way as to form a single rigid wing by a partial overlapping of the two wings 5 and 8.
In other words, the two protruding wings 5 and 8 join rigidly, through the coupling, by means of a vertical movement from the top downwards of the movable sash, of the pair of pins so as to form a single superposed wing for joining with a high degree of rigidity and robustness.
Preferably, the pair of pins 10 and 11 associated with the first wing 5 has a cylindrical shape and the pair of cavities 12, 13 has a corresponding shape (for example cylindrical) for housing the pair of pins 10, 1 1.
Preferably, the first wing 5 is formed from a first 5a and a second 5b segment, mutually consecutive and set at an angle to each other (to form, for example, but without limiting the scope of the invention, a sort of ‘L’) starting from the rotation pin 4.
In light of this, on the second segment 5b of the first wing 5 furthest from the rotation pin 4 is housed a part of the protruding pair of pins 10 and 1 1.
It should be noted that on the second segment 5b of the first wing 5 are formed two cavities 14, 15 partly housing the corresponding pin 10, 1 1.
In light of this, between the second segment 5b and each pin 10 and 11 are interposed means 16 for stabilizing the portion of the cylindrical pair of pins 10, 1 1 housed in the cavities 14 and 15 made on the second segment 5b.
In a first solution shown in Figures 6 and 7, the stabilizing means 16 comprise screw means 16a which can be housed in corresponding holes made on the outer surface of the second segment 5b of the first wing 5. Preferably, the screw stabilizing means 16a can be corresponding screws which are able to engage, by interference, an outer part of the surface of each cylindrical pin 10, 1 1 in such a way as to block the pin 10 or 1 1 inside the corresponding cavity 14, 15.
According to a second solution, shown in Figures 1 1 and 12, the stabilizing means 16 comprise, on each pin 10, 1 1 , an end equipped with a wide head 16b and a threaded section 16c (close to the head 16b) which is able to screw on the lower end of the corresponding cavity 14 and 15 after inserting and passage of the pin 10 and 1 1 along the corresponding cavity 14, 15.
In other words, each pin 10 and 1 1 is inserted along the cavity (from the bottom) and, subsequently, by screwing and generation of the counter thread inside the cavity 14, 15, each pin 10, 1 1 is locked in the socket. Preferably, (see also Figures 9 and 10) the pair of cylindrical pins 10, 1 1 are positioned, the first 10, at the joining point between the first 5a and second 5b segment, and the second 1 1 at the free end of the second segment 5b.
Thanks to this arrangement, the first wing 5 has three points for support/connection at its three ends.
It should be noted that second wing 8 forms a single body with the second hinge body 6 associated with the outer surface of the profile of the upright 7 of the mobile frame or sash and in such a way as to form a sort of ‘L’ with the second hinge body 6. The second wing 8 has the two cylindrical cavities 12, 13 for housing the protruding part of the cylindrical pair of pins 10, 11.
In light of this, the two cylindrical cavities 12, 13 are made, respectively, at the joining point between the second wing 8 and the second hinge body 6, and at the free end of the second wing 8.
In this way, the second wing 8 is superposed on the second segment 5b of the first wing 5 during assembly and, therefore, once mounting is complete, the combination between the two wings and the hinge bodies form a sort of‘IT for joining between the fixed frame and the sash.
Preferably, the hinge 100 comprises adjustment members 26 along the vertical axis Z of the hinge 100 positioned between the first wing 5 and the second wing 8 and between the two cylindrical cavities 12, 13 for housing the two pins 10, 11.
The adjustment members 26 are configured for modifying the distance in height between the first 5 and the second 8 wing.
In a first embodiment shown in Figures 6 and 7, the adjustment members 26 comprise an adjustment screw 26a which can be housed in a through cavity 26b made centrally on the second wing 8.
The screw 26a, in use, has its lower end in contact with the upper surface of the second segment 5b of the first wing 5: in this way, a screwing or unscrewing of the screw 26a allows a modification of the distance in height between the second segment 5b of the first wing 5 and the second wing 8 (thanks to the sliding between the second wing 8 and the pins 10 and 11 ) in such a way as to adjust the movable sash in height.
In a second embodiment shown in Figures 1 1 and 12, the adjustment members 26 always comprise an adjustment screw 26a which can be housed (from the bottom upwards) in a through cavity 26b made centrally on the second segment 5b of the first wing 5.
The screw 26a, in use, has its upper end in contact with the lower surface of the second wing 8: in this way, a screwing or unscrewing of the screw 26a allows a modification of the distance in height between the second segment 5b of the first wing 5 and the second wing 8 (thanks to the sliding between the second wing 8 and the pins 10 and 11 ) in such a way as to adjust the movable sash in height.
Preferably, the rotation pin 4 of the hinge 100 is composed of a first lower bushing 17, from which protrudes the first wing 5, inside of which is rotatably housed, in a through fashion, a first portion of the pin 4 having an end articulated in the socket 2 of the first hinge body 1.
The pin 4 also comprises a second upper bushing 18 housing the other part of the pin 4 in such a way that the other articulated end protrudes in the socket 2 of the first hinge body 1.
It should be noted that the socket 2 of the first hinge body 1 has a longitudinal extension and a depth configured to house, at least partly, the first 5 and the second 8 wing assembled at a mutual moving towards each other of the two surfaces on which are fixed the first 1 and the second 6 hinge body corresponding to a closed position of the mobile frame or sash on the fixed frame see Figure 10.
Preferably, the first hinge body 1 has two end flanges 19, 20 configured to allow the relative fixing to the outer surface of the profile of the upright 3 of the fixed frame.
The hinge structured in this way is mounted as follows:
- preparing and fixing the first hinge body on the upright of the fixed frame and with the first wing with pins outside of the socket (Figure 1 );
- preparing and fixing the second hinge body on the movable sash (Figure
1 );
- lifting the movable sash with superposing of the second wing on the second segment of the first wing in such a way as to position the cavities of the second wing coaxial with the pins of the second segment of the first wing (Figure 2);
- lowering the movable sash along a direction parallel to the vertical axis of rotation in such a way as to couple the cavities of the second wing with the pins on the second segment so as to obtain the joining together of the two hinge bodies (Figure 3).
If necessary, a step for any adjustment of the height (along a vertical axis parallel to the axis of rotation) of the sash with respect to the fixed frame, after assembly, by means of the screw present on the first or second wing. Thanks to this structure the hinge according to the invention achieves the preset aims.
The presence of the pair of cylindrical pins allows a rigid connection between the two wings combined with a rapid and simple assembly.
The particular shape of the two wings which, after assembly, form a U- shaped structure, give a guarantee of considerable mechanical seal for doors and windows of any weight unit with a high level of reliability over time without the risk of structural failures.
The hinge also has a quick and easy system for adjustment in height of the movable sash.
