Definitions
- the technology described herein relates generally to an access control system for a building.
- Embodiments of the technology relate in particular to an access control system with a sliding building door and a method for operating the access control system.
- Access control systems can be designed in a wide variety of ways in order to grant or deny people access to a restricted-access zone.
- the configuration can, for example, relate to the way in which people (users) have to identify themselves as having access authorization, e.g. B. with a key, a magnetic, chip or RFID card or a mobile electronic device (e.g. mobile phone).
- WO 2010/112586 A1 describes an access control system in which a user with access authorization is shown an access code on a display on a mobile phone that is being carried along. If the user holds the mobile phone up to a camera so that it can capture the displayed access code, the access control system grants the user access if the access code is valid.
- an access control system can also affect the way people are granted or denied access, for example through doors, locks or barriers. It is known, for example, that an electronic lock is arranged on a door, at which an access code must be entered so that the door can be unlocked and opened. In addition to this unlocking function on a door, it is known to monitor passage through the door.
- WO 2018/069341 A1 describes, for example, a device that uses sensors to monitor whether and which users are moving through a door. For user monitoring by means of infrared image recording and infrared pulse lighting, the device has a stereometric user identification device consisting of a radiation source and an image recording device, which is fixed in a stationary manner near a wall or a door frame.
- the user recognition device determines the geometric dimensions of a user (human, car) in order to determine how far the door is to be opened for the user to pass. This is to ensure the comfort and safety of the passing user, for example, a running or driving person feel safe when passing through the door.
- the systems mentioned relate to different access control requirements and related configurations of the access control systems.
- further requirements arise, for example due to changing lifestyles or living conditions (e.g. densely populated living in apartments in a city), including a need for increased security and increasing automation of and in buildings.
- lifestyles or living conditions e.g. densely populated living in apartments in a city
- the system has a sliding door system, a controller and a detector.
- the sliding door system has a door frame and a sliding door that can be moved in the door frame between a closed position and an open position by a drive unit controlled by the control device.
- the door frame has a walk-through area and a wall shell area that at least partially accommodates the sliding door in the open position.
- the sliding door has an end face which, in the open position, points in the direction of the passage area.
- a control device has a processor unit and a sensor unit, the sensor unit being arranged on the front side of the sliding door and the processor unit being arranged in an interior space of the sliding door and being electrically connected to the sensor unit and the drive unit.
- a recognition device is arranged on the sliding door system or in its vicinity and is communicatively connected to the control device, the recognition device being designed to detect and check a proof of authorization presented by a user.
- the control device is designed to determine a data record in a memory device for valid proof of authorization for the user, in which the proof of authorization is assigned to a stored opening width of the sliding door, in order to cause the sliding door to move according to the stored opening width.
- the control device is also designed to be a gesture of the user and to cause the sliding door to move as a function of this gesture, deviating from the stored opening width.
- the system includes a sliding door system and a controller for the sliding door system.
- a proof of authorization presented by a user is recorded and checked by a recognition device. If the proof of authorization is valid for the user, the identification device determines a data set in which the proof of authorization is assigned to a stored opening width of a sliding door of the sliding door system.
- a drive unit of the sliding door system is activated by the control device in order to move the sliding door from an essentially closed position into an open position according to the opening width, with part of the sliding door being pushed into a wall shell area of a door frame.
- the sliding door has an end face which, in the open position, points in the direction of the passage area.
- a sensor unit arranged on the front side is activated by a processor unit of the control device.
- the sensor unit is designed to recognize a gesture by the user and to control the sliding door as a function of this gesture, deviating from the stored opening width.
- the technology described here creates an access control system that opens the sliding door for a user with access authorization according to an opening width stored for the user.
- the opening width is selected and stored in such a way that the user can pass through the door comfortably and without feeling restricted or cramped.
- the saved opening width is suitable for many everyday situations, there may be situations in which the user needs a larger opening width, for example if he is carrying one or more larger objects (e.g. parcel, suitcase) or if he is temporarily using an aid for locomotion (e.g. wheelchair).
- the technology described here offers the user the opportunity to change the opening width if necessary, in particular to increase it.
- the user can express such a need by means of a gesture, for example a directional movement (e.g. left, right, up, down) of an arm, hand, leg or foot.
- a gesture for example a directional movement (e.g. left, right, up, down) of an arm, hand, leg or foot.
- the expert recognizes that another type of gesture can also be specified, e.g. B. one or more characters (e.g. hand and/or finger signs) or a sequence of such characters.
- the opening width is selected and stored in such a way that the sliding door initially only opens a little.
- the opening width (gap width) is chosen so that the user who is in front of the sliding door is in a detection field of the sensor unit and the sensor unit can detect a gesture by the user. If the user then performs a specified gesture, the sliding door opens according to a specified opening width.
- the gesture can be individual for the user or uniform for a user group (e.g. family members or employees of a company).
- the gesture serves as an additional factor in addition to the proof of authorization, which enables the sliding door to be opened ajar initially, in order to actually gain access.
- one of the gesture types mentioned can be selected as the gesture.
- a height of the user is determined, which enables a plausibility check. This means that it is not only checked whether the user is authorized to access, which leads to the sliding door being opened, but also whether the determined height also suits the user who is passing through the passage area. This can improve the effectiveness of access control.
- the technology uses a detection device that is arranged on or in the vicinity of the sliding door system and is communicatively connected to the control device.
- the recognition device is designed to record and check a proof of authorization presented by the user. It is advantageous here that the type of proof of authorization and, correspondingly, the identification device can be selected depending on the requirements in the building.
- the recognition device can be, for example, a radio signal transmitter and receiver, a biometric feature reader, an optical code reader, a magnetic stripe card reader or a smart card reader, or a keyboard or a touch-sensitive screen for manual entry of a password, or a mechanical one or include electronic door lock.
- the proof of entitlement enables the user's access authorization to be checked.
- the processor unit determines a data record in a memory device for a valid proof of authorization for the user, in which the proof of authorization is assigned to an opening width of the sliding door and the height range.
- the record can be maintained by a person responsible for the restricted area (tenant, owner, building manager, etc.).
- the sliding door system has an interface device which is arranged on the sliding door and is designed to send data to and/or receive data from a building management system.
- the building management system can be arranged in the building or remotely from it.
- the drive unit is arranged on the sliding door.
- the processor unit and the sensor unit are arranged on the sliding door, but also the drive unit.
- the sliding door can be completely or partially removed from the door frame in order to gain access to the components arranged on the sliding door.
- This also makes it possible to replace a defective sliding door with a new sliding door or a temporary replacement sliding door while the defective sliding door is being repaired in a workshop.
- the sliding door may include an actuator configured to position the door panels in a first position with a first panel spacing in the closed position of the sliding door and in a second position with a second panel spacing in the open position of the sliding door.
- the first sheet spacing is greater than the second sheet spacing.
- the access control system can be equipped with additional functionalities to the possibilities for Reduce access control tampering and/or circumvention.
- the control device can determine how long the user has been in the transit area and can compare it with a fixed dwelling time. The specified length of stay can also be stored in the user's data record. If the specified dwell time is exceeded, the alarm signal can also be generated in this case.
- the control device can determine a length of the user (in the y-direction) in the transit area and compare this with a specified, stored user length range. The specified user length range can also be stored in the user's data record. If the specified user length range is exceeded, the alarm signal can also be generated in this case.
- FIG 1 is a schematic representation of an exemplary situation in a building with an access control system 1, which includes a sliding door system 5 and a control device 8,10.
- the sliding door system 5 is inserted into a building wall and represents a physical barrier between a public zone 21 and a restricted zone 22.
- the building wall extends in a plane that is spanned by the x and z axes.
- the restricted-access zone 22 can e.g. B. an apartment, a business premises or another space in a building.
- the sliding door system 5 can be inserted into a building interior wall (for building-internal access control, eg access to an apartment) or into a building exterior wall (for controlling access to the building).
- the sliding door system 5 opens a sliding door 4 for a user 20 with access authorization, while it remains closed for a user 20 who is not authorized for access.
- the term "building” is to be understood as meaning, for example, residential and/or commercial buildings, sports arenas, airports, ships.
- the technology described here can be used in an advantageous manner in order to operate the access control system 1 with the highest possible level of security, while the user 20 can still be granted comfortable access to the restricted-access zone 22 .
- the operation of the access control system 1 takes place as follows: The technology recognizes the user 20 as having access authorization and opens the sliding door 4 for the user 20 in the direction of the x-axis. In this case, however, the sliding door 4 is only opened to the extent specified for the user 20 in a user profile. If the user 20 wants to change the opening width W, the technology described here is designed to detect a gesture performed by the user 20 .
- a change in the opening width may be desirable because the user 20 needs a larger opening width, for example if he is carrying one or more larger objects (e.g. parcel, suitcase) or if he is temporarily using an aid for locomotion (e.g. wheelchair) uses.
- the technology described here offers the user 20 the opportunity to change the opening width if required, in particular to increase it.
- the opening width is selected and stored in such a way that the sliding door 4 initially only opens a gap. If the user 20 then performs a specified gesture, the sliding door 4 opens according to a specified opening width and the user 20 can pass. Example implementations of the technology are described in more detail below.
- the sliding door system 5 shown comprises a door frame 2 (also referred to as a door frame) and the sliding door 4.
- the door frame 2 has a passage area 24 and a wall shell area 18 which is designed to accommodate the sliding door 4 at least partially.
- the wall shell portion 18 therefore has a structure that forms a cavity sized to accommodate the sliding door 4 .
- the passage area 24 is the area in the building wall in which a passage in the direction of the y-axis from one zone (21, 22) to the other zone (21, 22) is possible; it consists between a vertical frame part 2a (door post) and the opposite wall shell area 18.
- the wall shell area 18 is accommodated in a cavity in the building wall, or the wall shell area 18 can be considered part of the building wall, possibly after cladding.
- the sliding door 4 is in the door frame 2 between an in Figure 2A closed position shown and one in Figure 2C shown open position. Referring to the in 1 xyz coordinate system drawn in, the sliding door 4 is displaced along the x-axis. In the open position, the sliding door 4 is located in one exemplary embodiment essentially within the wall shell area 18. Between these maximum positions, the sliding door 4 can have an in 1 take the intermediate position shown, in which the sliding door 4 (and correspondingly to the passage area 24) is more or less open, ie an end face 30 of the sliding door 4 has a variable distance from the frame part 2a. In Figure 2B this variable distance is shown as the opening width W.
- the sliding door 4 has two substantially parallel door panels 26 (respectively on an inner side and an outer side of the sliding door 4).
- the door leaves 26 are at a distance from one another (in the y-direction), so that there is an interior space between the door leaves 26, in which system components and insulating material for soundproofing and fire protection can be arranged.
- the door leaves 26 are connected to one another in the area of the end face 30, as for example in Figure 2A shown. Each of the door leaves 26 extends parallel to the xz plane. Further details of the sliding door 4 are disclosed elsewhere in this specification.
- the sliding door system 5 is connected to a building management system 12 (BM); in in 1 In the exemplary embodiment shown, this connection takes place by means of a communication network 28 to which the building management system 12 and the interface device 7 are coupled.
- BM building management system 12
- this connection takes place by means of a communication network 28 to which the building management system 12 and the interface device 7 are coupled.
- the building management system 12 can be completely or partially outsourced to an IT infrastructure for so-called cloud computing (colloquially also referred to as “cloud”). This includes, for example, storing data in a remote data center, but also running programs that are installed remotely rather than locally.
- a specific functionality can be made available, for example, in the control device 8, 10 or via the “cloud”.
- a software application or program parts thereof can be executed in the “cloud”. If required, the control device 8, 10 then accesses this infrastructure via the interface device 7 in order to run the software application.
- the communication network 28 can comprise an electronic bus system.
- the electrical connection of the sliding door system 5, including its supply of electrical energy, takes place via the interface device 7.
- the person skilled in the art recognizes that there can be several sliding door systems 5 in the building and that each of these sliding door systems 5 is coupled to the communication network 28 in order to to communicate with the building management system 12, for example in connection with a determination and verification of access authorizations, if this is done centrally by the building management system 12.
- the control device 8, 10 includes a processor unit 8 (DC) and a sensor unit 10, which is connected to the processor unit 8 by an electrical connection 32.
- the processor unit 8 is also connected to the drive unit 6 and the interface device 7 by means of an electrical connection 34 .
- the electrical connections 32, 34 are designed for signal and/or energy transmission; for this purpose they can each comprise individual electrical lines or an electrical bus system.
- the processor unit 8 is also connected to the recognition device 14 .
- the recognition device 14 is designed to record a proof of authorization from the user 20 , on the basis of which the access control system 1 can determine the access authorization for the object 20 .
- the credential can be, for example, in the form of a physical key, a manually entered password (e.g. a PIN code), a biometric feature (e.g. fingerprint, iris pattern, speech/voice characteristics) or one of a magnetic, chip or RFID card or an electronic device (NFC, Bluetooth or mobile phone based) recorded access codes.
- the user 20 presents the credential when seeking access to the restricted area 22 .
- the proof of authorization can be presented in different ways, for example by a deliberate manual action (e.g. entering a PIN code or holding out an RFID card) or by approaching the door in order to to come within radio range of the recognition device 14 (e.g. for establishing a Bluetooth connection).
- the recognition device 14 can be arranged on the sliding door 4 or in its vicinity, for example it can be arranged on an outside of the sliding door 4 so that it can detect the proof of authorization when the user 20 is in the public zone 21 .
- the identification device 14 is configured in accordance with the proof of authorization provided in the access control system 1 .
- the recognition device 14 has, for example, a door cylinder, a device for detecting a biometric feature, a device for detecting an optical code, a reader for a magnetic stripe card or a chip card, a keyboard or a touch-sensitive screen for manually entering a password, a transmission and Receiving device for radio signals.
- the sliding door system 5 may include more than one recognizer 14, each for a different type of credential, or one recognizer 14 may be configured for multiple types of credentials.
- the recognition device 14 detects a proof of authorization which a radio device 21 of the user 20 or a radio device 21 carried by the user 20 emits as a radio signal.
- the radio signal can be sent according to a known standard for radio communication (e.g. RFID, WLAN/WiFi, NFC, Bluetooth).
- the detection device 14 is designed to receive such a radio signal; in 1 a transmitting/receiving device 16 and an antenna connected to it are shown for this purpose.
- the transmitting/receiving device 16 uses the received radio signal to determine the proof of authorization, which is then used to determine the access authorization. If the credential is valid, the user 20 is granted access; in this case, the processor unit 8 controls the drive unit 6, which moves the sliding door 4 in the direction of the open position. If the credential is not valid, the sliding door 4 remains closed and locked.
- the sensor unit 10 is arranged on the end face 30 of the sliding door 4, for example in an area of an upper (corner) edge of the sliding door 4. From this elevated area, the sensor unit 10 has an optimized detection field 11 in the direction of the passage area 24 and the floor.
- An exemplary detection field 11 is in 1 (vertical) and in Figure 2B (horizontally) shown.
- the sensor unit 10 is better protected against dirt and damage (e.g. due to vandalism) in this area.
- a gesture that the user 20 executes when he wants to change the opening width W is detected with the aid of the sensor unit 10 .
- a change may be desired because the user 20 needs a larger opening width, for example if he is carrying one or more larger objects (e.g. parcel, suitcase) or if he is temporarily using a mobility aid (e.g. wheelchair) uses.
- the technology described here offers the user 20 the opportunity to change the opening width if required, in particular to increase it.
- the opening width is selected and stored in such a way that the sliding door 4 initially only opens a gap. The gap is so narrow that the user 20 cannot pass.
- the opening width is also selected such that the user 20 who is in front of the sliding door 4 is in a detection field 11 of the sensor unit 10 and the sensor unit 10 can detect a gesture by the user 20 . If the user 20 then performs a specified gesture, the sliding door 4 opens according to a specified opening width and the user 20 can pass.
- the gesture can, for example, comprise a movement of the body and/or a body part, for example a movement of the head, an arm, a hand, a leg or a foot.
- the movement can be directional, e.g. B. left, right, up, down, or it may include combinations thereof.
- another type of gesture can also be specified, e.g. B. one or more characters (e.g. hand and/or finger signs) or a sequence of such characters.
- the gesture can be defined individually for the user 20 or uniformly for a user group (e.g. family members or employees of a company).
- the (vertical) height of the user 20 can also be determined with the aid of the sensor unit 10 .
- the term "height" is used for the extension of the user 20 in the direction of the z-axis; this although for people usually their size is indicated.
- the height of the user 20 indicates a distance between the floor and a top point or area of the user 20 .
- the sensor unit 10 is at a fixed and known distance from the floor (distance from the floor). In this situation, according to one embodiment, a user distance between the sensor unit 10 and the user 20 is determined.
- the height H of the user 20 results from a difference between the ground clearance and the user clearance.
- the sensor unit 10 comprises a 3D camera.
- a camera which is based on the principle of time-of-flight measurement ("Time of Flight", TOF sensor) can be used as the 3D camera.
- the 3D camera includes a light emitting diode or laser diode unit that emits light in the infrared range, for example, the light being emitted in short pulses (e.g. several tens of nanoseconds long).
- the 3D camera also includes a sensor group from a number of light-sensitive elements.
- the sensor array is connected to a processing chip (e.g. a CMOS sensor chip) that determines the transit time of the emitted light.
- a processing chip e.g. a CMOS sensor chip
- the processing chip simultaneously measures the distance to a number of target points in space in just a few milliseconds.
- the 3D camera can also be based on a measurement principle in which the propagation time of emitted light is recorded via the phase of the light. The phasing when sending the light and when receiving it is compared and the elapsed time or the distance to the reflecting user is determined from this.
- a modulated light signal is preferably emitted instead of short light pulses.
- control device 8, 10, detection device 14, interface device 7, drive unit 6) are arranged on the sliding door 4 and move with the sliding door 4.
- the processor unit 8 is arranged in an area between the door leaves 26, for example in the area of a rear side 31 of the sliding door 4 opposite the end face 30.
- the rear side 31 of the sliding door 4 is not visible from the outside because the sliding door 4 is wider than the passage area 24 and the rear side 31 therefore also remains in the closed position of the sliding door 4 in the wall shell area 18 .
- the drive unit 6 and the interface device 7 can also be arranged in this area.
- the electrical connections 32, 34 are arranged accordingly between the door leaves 26 and are not visible from the outside.
- the technology described here is not limited to this exemplary arrangement of the components.
- the processor unit 8 has an interface device 44 (I/O), which is electrically connected to a processor 40 ( ⁇ P) and has a plurality of connections 46, 48, 50, 52 for input and output signals.
- the connection 46 is connected to the drive unit 6, the connection 48 to the sensor unit 10, the connection 50 to the recognition device 14 and the connection 52 via the interface device 7 to the building management system 12.
- the processor unit 8 also includes a storage device 36 which is electrically connected to the processor 40 .
- the storage device 36 has a storage area 38 for a database (DB) and a storage area 42 for one or more computer programs (SW) for operating the sliding door system 5.
- the operation of the sliding door system 5 includes the opening of the sliding door 4 as a function of the recognized user 20 and detecting the gesture. Depending on the configuration, the operation can also include determining a height H of the user 20 .
- the computer program can be executed by processor 40 .
- the database stores a record for the user 20 authorized to access the restricted area 22 .
- the stored data record is also referred to below as a user profile.
- the user profile includes user-specific data, e.g. B. Name, information on the proof of authorization (key number, PIN code, access code, including biometric data) and any time access restrictions (e.g. access from Monday to Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.). If several users 20 are authorized to access the restricted-access zone 22, the database stores a user profile for each user 20.
- the user profile can be created in a database of building management system 12 , access control system 1 being able to access this database via communication network 28 .
- each user profile also states up to which width W (see Figure 2B ) the sliding door 4 can be opened. It is also specified which gesture or gestures the user 20 can use in order to influence the operation of the sliding door 4.
- the height H of the user 20 is also specified.
- the height H of the user 20 may be a maximum height or a range of heights, as the height may vary depending on the type of shoes and headgear for the user 20 .
- the length (in the y-direction) of each user 20 can also be specified.
- the height H and the length (if present) are plausibility parameters for access control, as explained elsewhere in this description.
- the recognition device 14 detects and checks a proof of authorization presented by the user 20.
- the proof of authorization can be in one of the forms mentioned above.
- the processor unit 40 checks whether a user profile has been created in the database 38 for the proof of authorization. If this check shows that the user 20 has access authorization, the user 20 is recognized as having access authorization.
- a step S3 if the proof of authorization is valid for the user 20, the recognition device 14 determines a data set in which the proof of authorization is assigned to a stored opening width W of the sliding door.
- the choice of the opening width W can be based on various motivations. According to one motivation, the opening width W is selected and stored so that the user can comfortably and without feeling restricted or cramped through the sliding door 4 or the Passage area 24 can pass through. According to another motivation, the user's 20 desire for increased security determines the choice of the opening width W. The opening width W is selected such that the sliding door 4 initially only opens a gap, which is too narrow for the user 20, however.
- a step S4 the drive unit 6 of the sliding door system 5 is controlled by the control device 8, 10, in particular by its processor unit 8, in order to open the sliding door 4 according to the opening width W stored.
- the drive unit moves the sliding door 4 until the width W is reached.
- the sliding door 4 is moved from the essentially closed position into a more or less open position. A part of the sliding door 4 slides into the wall shell area 18 of the door frame 2, such as in Figure 2B shown.
- a gesture of the user 20 who is located at the sliding door 4 in the detection field 11 of the sensor unit 10 is recognized with the aid of the sensor unit 10 .
- the gesture is recognized according to a method that is described, for example, in the above-mentioned dissertation by Martin Haker.
- the sliding door 4 is controlled as a function of the recognized gesture in deviation from the stored opening width W.
- a reset procedure (reset) can be initiated, in which the user 20 must identify himself via another communication medium in order to z.
- B. a new gesture set or initiate remote opening.
- an alarm signal can be generated which is transmitted to a person responsible for the restricted area 22 (tenant, owner, building manager, etc.), for example as a text message via e-mail or SMS.
- An alarm signal can also be generated by the control device 8, 10 if the height H determined by the sensor unit 10 of the user 20 in the passage area 24 deviates from the height H or height range stored for this user 20 by a specified degree.
- the degree of the deviation can be defined in such a way that it is expressed that the ascertained height H does not match the user 20 at all (is plausible). If an expected height H (based on the user profile) deviates significantly from the currently determined height, it can be concluded from this, for example, that it is not the user 20 to whom the proof of authorization is assigned. It could be the case, for example, that an unauthorized person is in possession of the proof of authorization (e.g. mobile phone, RFID tag) and is trying to gain access instead of user 20 .
- the proof of authorization e.g. mobile phone, RFID tag
- a set of rules can be defined in the access control system 1, which specifies whether and which action should be initiated after an alarm signal.
- These actions can be situation specific, i. H. it depends on what time (day or night) and on what day (weekday or weekend, vacation time) the alarm signal is generated.
- Exemplary actions can be: an acoustically and/or visually perceptible alarm (siren, warning light), automatic notification of security personnel (police or private security service) and automatic notification of the person responsible for the restricted zone 22 (tenant, owner, building manager, etc.).
- Those skilled in the art will recognize that these actions can also be combined.
- control device 8, 10 can be configured with an additional functionality that determines how long the user 20 has been in the transit area 24 and compares it with a fixed dwelling time. This functionality is similar to functionality for a security or elevator door, where a beep sounds if the door is held open too long or blocked. The specified length of stay can also be stored in the user's 20 data record be. If the specified dwell time is exceeded, the alarm signal can also be generated in this case. With this functionality, for example, the risk can be reduced that an unauthorized person tries to block the open sliding door 4 or to manipulate the sensor unit 10 .
- control device 8, 10 can be configured with an additional functionality. This functionality determines a length of the user 20 (in the y-direction) in the transit area 24 and compares this with a fixed, stored user length range.
- FIGS 2A-2C each show a schematic representation of a plan view of the sliding door system 5.
- the components sensor unit 10 (S), processor unit 8 (DC) and drive unit 6 (M) included in the sliding door 4 are located;
- the interface device 7 and its connection to the building management system 12 are not shown.
- the drive unit 6 and the processor unit 8 are arranged inside the sliding door 4 , in particular between the door leaves 26 .
- the wall shell portion 18 with the structure to accommodate the sliding door 4 in the open position is in Figures 2A-2C also shown.
- the sensor unit 10 is arranged on the end face 30 .
- the arrangement is selected in such a way that the electromagnetic radiation (light or radio waves) can propagate unhindered in the direction of the passage area 24 during operation.
- the sensor unit 10 can e.g. B. inserted into a recess on the end face 30 and protected by a radiolucent cover from damage and dirt.
- the electrical connection 32 ( 1 ) between the sensor unit 10 and the processor unit 8 and the electrical connection 34 ( 1 ) run inside the sliding door 4, for example between the door leaves 26.
- the illustrated embodiment of the sliding door 4 is based on a principle that is similar to one EP 2876241 A1 known principle. Therein a sliding door system is described in which two opposite door panels are coupled to an actuator which moves the door panels towards or away from each other. In relation to the sliding door system 5 according to the technology described here, this means that the two door leaves 26 have a leaf spacing d1 when the sliding door 4 is in the closed position.
- the two door leaves 26 are actuated by an actuator 9 ( Figures 2A - 2C ) so far towards each other that they have a leaf distance d2, which is dimensioned so that the sliding door 4 in its fully or partially open position ( Figures 2B and 2C ) has a small enough thickness to fit within the receiving structure of the wall shell portion 18.
- the blade spacing d1 is greater than the blade spacing d2.
- the thickness is defined in such a way that the outsides of the two door leaves 26 in the closed position end essentially flush with the outsides of the wall shell area 18 or its lining. As a result, a substantially smooth-surfaced finish is achieved on both sides of the wall in the door area.
- the sliding door system 5 has a guide device on a door cross member, which supports the sliding door 4 and guides it on its way between the closed position and the open position.
- the sliding door 4 has a complementary device on its upper edge.
- the guiding device and the complementary device interact when the drive unit 6 causes the movement of the sliding door 4 and acts on the complementary device; they can, for example, form a system with a telescopic extension.
- the drive unit 6 can, for example, comprise a motorized or pneumatic sliding drive which acts on the telescopic extension.
- the two door leaves 26 are actuated by the actuator 9 towards or away from each other.
- the actuator 9 can include a spreading device that is activated mechanically, electrically or electromechanically.
- the spreading device is designed to move the door leaves 26 towards one another when the sliding door 4 is to be opened and to move them away from one another when the sliding door 4 is to be closed.
- other spreading devices can also be provided instead, for example pressure-medium-actuated cylinders.

Description
The technology described herein relates generally to an access control system for a building. Embodiments of the technology relate in particular to an access control system with a sliding building door and a method for operating the access control system.
The systems mentioned relate to different access control requirements and related configurations of the access control systems. In addition to these known requirements, further requirements arise, for example due to changing lifestyles or living conditions (e.g. densely populated living in apartments in a city), including a need for increased security and increasing automation of and in buildings. There is therefore a need for a technology for an access control system that meets these requirements, with the access control having to take account of the need for security in particular, without negatively affecting the comfort for users.
One aspect of such technology relates to a system for controlling access to a restricted area in a building. The system has a sliding door system, a controller and a detector. The sliding door system has a door frame and a sliding door that can be moved in the door frame between a closed position and an open position by a drive unit controlled by the control device. The door frame has a walk-through area and a wall shell area that at least partially accommodates the sliding door in the open position. The sliding door has an end face which, in the open position, points in the direction of the passage area. A control device has a processor unit and a sensor unit, the sensor unit being arranged on the front side of the sliding door and the processor unit being arranged in an interior space of the sliding door and being electrically connected to the sensor unit and the drive unit. A recognition device is arranged on the sliding door system or in its vicinity and is communicatively connected to the control device, the recognition device being designed to detect and check a proof of authorization presented by a user. The control device is designed to determine a data record in a memory device for valid proof of authorization for the user, in which the proof of authorization is assigned to a stored opening width of the sliding door, in order to cause the sliding door to move according to the stored opening width. The control device is also designed to be a gesture of the user and to cause the sliding door to move as a function of this gesture, deviating from the stored opening width.
Another aspect of the technology relates to a method of operating a system for controlling access to a restricted area in a building. The system includes a sliding door system and a controller for the sliding door system. According to the method, a proof of authorization presented by a user is recorded and checked by a recognition device. If the proof of authorization is valid for the user, the identification device determines a data set in which the proof of authorization is assigned to a stored opening width of a sliding door of the sliding door system. A drive unit of the sliding door system is activated by the control device in order to move the sliding door from an essentially closed position into an open position according to the opening width, with part of the sliding door being pushed into a wall shell area of a door frame. The sliding door has an end face which, in the open position, points in the direction of the passage area. A sensor unit arranged on the front side is activated by a processor unit of the control device. The sensor unit is designed to recognize a gesture by the user and to control the sliding door as a function of this gesture, deviating from the stored opening width.
The technology described here creates an access control system that opens the sliding door for a user with access authorization according to an opening width stored for the user. In one exemplary embodiment, the opening width is selected and stored in such a way that the user can pass through the door comfortably and without feeling restricted or cramped. Although the saved opening width is suitable for many everyday situations, there may be situations in which the user needs a larger opening width, for example if he is carrying one or more larger objects (e.g. parcel, suitcase) or if he is temporarily using an aid for locomotion (e.g. wheelchair). For such situations, the technology described here offers the user the opportunity to change the opening width if necessary, in particular to increase it. The user can express such a need by means of a gesture, for example a directional movement (e.g. left, right, up, down) of an arm, hand, leg or foot. The expert recognizes that another type of gesture can also be specified, e.g. B. one or more characters (e.g. hand and/or finger signs) or a sequence of such characters.
In another exemplary embodiment of the technology, the opening width is selected and stored in such a way that the sliding door initially only opens a little. The opening width (gap width) is chosen so that the user who is in front of the sliding door is in a detection field of the sensor unit and the sensor unit can detect a gesture by the user. If the user then performs a specified gesture, the sliding door opens according to a specified opening width. The gesture can be individual for the user or uniform for a user group (e.g. family members or employees of a company). In this exemplary embodiment, the gesture serves as an additional factor in addition to the proof of authorization, which enables the sliding door to be opened ajar initially, in order to actually gain access. In this exemplary embodiment, too, one of the gesture types mentioned can be selected as the gesture.
In one embodiment, a height of the user is determined, which enables a plausibility check. This means that it is not only checked whether the user is authorized to access, which leads to the sliding door being opened, but also whether the determined height also suits the user who is passing through the passage area. This can improve the effectiveness of access control.
In one embodiment, the technology uses a detection device that is arranged on or in the vicinity of the sliding door system and is communicatively connected to the control device. The recognition device is designed to record and check a proof of authorization presented by the user. It is advantageous here that the type of proof of authorization and, correspondingly, the identification device can be selected depending on the requirements in the building. The recognition device can be, for example, a radio signal transmitter and receiver, a biometric feature reader, an optical code reader, a magnetic stripe card reader or a smart card reader, or a keyboard or a touch-sensitive screen for manual entry of a password, or a mechanical one or include electronic door lock.
The proof of entitlement enables the user's access authorization to be checked. In one exemplary embodiment, the processor unit determines a data record in a memory device for a valid proof of authorization for the user, in which the proof of authorization is assigned to an opening width of the sliding door and the height range. The record can be maintained by a person responsible for the restricted area (tenant, owner, building manager, etc.).
In one exemplary embodiment, the sliding door system has an interface device which is arranged on the sliding door and is designed to send data to and/or receive data from a building management system. The building management system can be arranged in the building or remotely from it.
In one embodiment, the drive unit is arranged on the sliding door. Thus, not only the processor unit and the sensor unit are arranged on the sliding door, but also the drive unit. As a result, maintenance and/or repair work can be carried out with relatively little effort, for example the sliding door can be completely or partially removed from the door frame in order to gain access to the components arranged on the sliding door. This also makes it possible to replace a defective sliding door with a new sliding door or a temporary replacement sliding door while the defective sliding door is being repaired in a workshop.
Another advantage of the technology described here is that its use is not limited to a specific type of sliding door system. In one embodiment, the sliding door may include an actuator configured to position the door panels in a first position with a first panel spacing in the closed position of the sliding door and in a second position with a second panel spacing in the open position of the sliding door. The first sheet spacing is greater than the second sheet spacing.
The
According to the forms mentioned, which the proof of authorization can have, the proof of authorization can be presented in different ways, for example by a deliberate manual action (e.g. entering a PIN code or holding out an RFID card) or by approaching the door in order to to come within radio range of the recognition device 14 (e.g. for establishing a Bluetooth connection).
According to the technology described here, a gesture that the
The gesture can, for example, comprise a movement of the body and/or a body part, for example a movement of the head, an arm, a hand, a leg or a foot. The movement can be directional, e.g. B. left, right, up, down, or it may include combinations thereof. Those skilled in the art will recognize that another type of gesture can also be specified, e.g. B. one or more characters (e.g. hand and/or finger signs) or a sequence of such characters. The gesture can be defined individually for the
In one exemplary embodiment, the (vertical) height of the
Time of Flight", TOF Sensor) beruht. In one exemplary embodiment, the

The components mentioned (
The
The database stores a record for the

In a step S2 , the
In a step S3 , if the proof of authorization is valid for the
In a step S5, the
In a step S6, the sliding
An alarm signal can also be generated by the
A set of rules can be defined in the access control system 1, which specifies whether and which action should be initiated after an alarm signal. These actions can be situation specific, i. H. it depends on what time (day or night) and on what day (weekday or weekend, vacation time) the alarm signal is generated. Exemplary actions can be: an acoustically and/or visually perceptible alarm (siren, warning light), automatic notification of security personnel (police or private security service) and automatic notification of the person responsible for the restricted zone 22 (tenant, owner, building manager, etc.). Those skilled in the art will recognize that these actions can also be combined.
In one exemplary embodiment, the
