Definitions
- the invention relates to a suction lifting device for emptying a tank and a method for operating the suction lifting device.
- a tank can be emptied actively using a pump or passively using gravity.
- a correspondingly large outflow rate is required.
- the outflow rate is essentially limited by a line cross-section of a line through which the tank contents can be drained away.
- the size of the line cross-section determines the dimensioning of required components, such as the associated shut-off valves. The larger the required components are, the more weight the components have.
- the suction lifting device is a device for lifting a liquid due to a gravitational hydrostatic pressure difference between different sections of a discharge line of the suction lifting device.
- a liquid has previously been lifted within the emptying line over a vertex of the emptying line.
- a negative pressure is usually generated in a portion of the drain line. Due to the negative pressure, a tank content is lifted from a riser section of the drain line into a downpipe section, whereby a hydrostatic pressure difference can be generated.
- Generic suction lifting devices are, for example, from the publications US 136 809 A , KR 102 007 124 B1 or GB 2 167 095 A known.
- the DE 2015 226 495 A1 relates to a liquid storage device for a vehicle and teaches a tank system according to the preamble of independent claim 1.
- the invention is based on the object of providing a compact suction lifting device with a low overall weight.
- a tank system having a tank (12) and a suction lifting device with the features of claim 1.
- the invention is based on the object of providing a method for operating the suction lifting device according to the invention.
- the suction lifting device provides that a blocking element is arranged in a downpipe section of the emptying line, by means of which a liquid can be stored in the downpipe section.
- a “downline section” is to be understood as meaning a section of the emptying line in which a liquid falls along a direction of the gravitational force during operation of the suction lifting device.
- a “riser” is to be understood as meaning a section of the emptying line in which a liquid rises against a direction of the gravitational force when the suction lifting device is in operation.
- Under a “blocking element” there should be one Fitting can be understood, which is designed to interrupt a flow of liquid.
- the liquid can be stored in the downpipe section, a complex lifting process of the liquid over the apex of the drain pipe can be dispensed with.
- a power required to initiate the suction lifting process can be significantly reduced.
- the downpipe section can be prefilled with a low required power. The required installation space for the suction lifting device can thus be kept small and heavy components can be largely dispensed with.
- the blocking element is designed as a pneumatic pinch valve.
- the pneumatic pinch valve can be manufactured with low weight and small installation space. This makes it possible to reduce the weight and installation space of the suction lifting device.
- the riser section has a suction opening and the blocking element is arranged below the suction opening in an operating orientation of the suction lifting device.
- operating orientation refers to an orientation of the suction lifting device in which it is ready for operation, i.e. can work in the intended manner.
- This operating orientation requires that an outlet opening of the drain line be lower than the suction opening. Therefore, the suction opening is arranged above the outlet opening in the operating orientation. This allows a hydrostatic pressure difference to be built up within the suction lifting device, due to which a liquid can be transported from the suction opening to the outlet opening during operation of the suction lifting device.
- above is intended to be understood broadly in this description. An object located above a reference object can be along a vertical line through the reference object or away from the reference object the reference object must be arranged on a vertical line.
- An advantageous development provides a storage tank that is set up to store at least part of the liquid. Using the storage tank, the liquid can be stored in order to be able to initiate a suction lifting process regardless of the volume remaining in the tank.
- the storage tank is connected to a line by means of which the downpipe section can be at least partially filled with the liquid stored in the storage tank.
- the liquid can be introduced directly into the downpipe section via the line. In this way, the liquid can be introduced in a cost-effective manner.
- filling of the downpipe section can be accelerated. If the tank is arranged above the drain line, the liquid can be introduced passively into the downpipe section, i.e. without additional pump power.
- the suction lifting device described above is used in a tank system with a tank.
- the tank can be emptied quickly within a limited period of time. Waiting times when emptying the tank can be shortened.
- the riser section is at least partially arranged within the tank. Furthermore, a connecting line is provided, which opens into the drain line and by means of which the contents of the tank can be directed into the downpipe section.
- the downpipe section can be filled with the connecting pipe in a simple manner.
- the tank contents can be led directly into the downpipe section.
- heavy components necessary for the lifting process such as an injector in the sense of a jet pump, can be used to generate of negative pressure in a section of the drain line.
- the connecting line can be set up to supply the tank contents from the pipe network or directly from the tank to the downpipe section.
- the connecting line can open directly into the downpipe section or be connected to a further connecting line which opens directly into the downpipe section and/or the storage tank.
- the feed pump is set up to pump the tank contents from the tank into the pipe network.
- the tank contents in the pipeline network can be directed into the downpipe section.
- Existing components such as the feed pump can be used to pump the tank contents into the downpipe section.
- the downpipe section can be pressurized using the feed pump. This can speed up the filling process. Additional components can be dispensed with and easy retrofitting and significant weight savings can be achieved.
- the connecting line is preferably intended to supply a liquid to the storage tank.
- the tank contents are particularly preferably provided as liquid.
- a pressure relief valve is arranged in the connecting line. If a limit pressure in the pipe network is exceeded, the pressure relief valve is set up to open. Preferably, if the pressure in the pipe network falls below the limit, the pressure relief valve is closed.
- the filling of the downpipe section can be controlled using the limit pressure, the pressure relief valve and the feed pump. Due to the use of the pressure relief valve, shut-off valves and additional safety devices, such as a backflow preventer, can be combined in a component that requires little installation space and is low in weight.
- the suction lifting device can be operated using the method according to the invention.
- the procedure provides for a passage in the downpipe section to be closed.
- the downpipe section is then filled with a liquid up to a minimum filling level. If a minimum filling height is reached, the passage of the downpipe section is opened.
- a “minimum filling level” is to be understood as meaning a level at which the downpipe section is filled with the liquid.
- the minimum filling level is reached as soon as a hydrostatic pressure of the liquid at the blocking element arranged in the downpipe section is greater than a hydrostatic pressure at the suction opening of the riser pipe.
- the minimum filling height can therefore depend, among other things, on a liquid level of the tank contents in the tank.
- the suction lifting process can be started.
- the passage of the downpipe section can be opened.
- the downpipe section can be filled gradually. Small components can be used for filling, which are light and/or require little installation space. This can save costs and weight.
- the tank system is used in a vehicle.
- a tank arranged in the vehicle is emptied using the suction lifting device. Due to the low weight and the low space requirements, the suction lifting device has proven particularly useful in vehicles.
- a suction lifting device is operated with a storage tank and the downpipe section is filled with a liquid from the storage tank. This allows filling of the downpipe section to be accelerated.
- the tank in the event of a risk of frost, the tank is essentially completely emptied.
- the tank can be lifted using the suction lifting device with a normative specification drained quickly at the appropriate flow rate. Furthermore, damage to the tank caused by frost can be prevented.
- FIG 1 shows a vehicle 40 with a tank system 28.
- the vehicle 40 is designed as a rail-bound vehicle.
- the tank system 28 has a tank 12, a line network 32 and a feed pump 34.
- the tank 12 is designed as a fresh water tank.
- the feed pump 34 is set up to convey a tank contents from the tank 12 into the pipe network 32.
- the tank content is fresh water.
- the pipe network 32 has three collection points 42 for removing the fresh water.
- a shut-off valve 44 By means of a shut-off valve 44, the above-mentioned delivery of the tank contents to the delivery points 42 can be interrupted.
- the tank system 28 has a suction lifting device 10.
- the suction lifting device 10 is intended for emptying the tank 12.
- the suction lifting device 10 has an emptying line 14.
- the drain line 14 has a downpipe section 16 with an outlet opening 46 and a riser section 18 with a suction opening 22.
- FIG 2 shows part of the tank system 28 and the suction lifting device 10 in an operating orientation.
- the suction lifting device 10 is aligned such that the outlet opening 46 is arranged below the suction opening 22. So that the tank 12 can be emptied, the riser section 18 is partially arranged within the tank 12.
- a blocking element 20 is arranged in the downpipe section 16, by means of which a liquid can be stored in the downpipe section 16.
- the blocking element 20 is designed as a pneumatic pinch valve. Furthermore, the blocking element 20 is arranged below the suction opening 22 in the operating orientation.
- a connecting line 30 is provided in the tank system 28.
- the connecting line 30 branches off from the line network 32 downstream of the feed pump 34 and in front of the shut-off valve 44. Above the blocking element 20, the connecting line 20 opens into the downpipe section 16 of the drain line 14.
- the Tank contents located in the pipe network 32 can be conveyed into the downpipe section 16 by means of the connecting pipe 30.
- a pressure relief valve 36 is arranged in the connecting line 30. The pressure relief valve 36 is set up to open if a limit pressure in the line network 32 is exceeded. In the open state, the tank contents can flow through the pressure relief valve 36. If the pressure falls below the limit, the pressure relief valve 36 is closed.
- a passage of the downpipe section 16 is closed by means of the blocking element 20.
- the downpipe section 16 is filled with a liquid up to a minimum filling level 38.
- the contents of the tank are provided as liquid.
- the minimum filling level 38 corresponds to a liquid level of the tank contents in the downpipe section 16, which is above a maximum possible filling level of the tank contents in the tank 12. So that the downpipe section 16 can be filled, a pressure within the line network 32 is increased by means of the feed pump 34 to such an extent that the limit pressure is exceeded.
- the shut-off valve 44 is closed, in particular to protect the remaining line network 32.
- shut-off valve 44 remains open during the described pressure increase in the line network 32.
- this has the disadvantage that components of the line network 32 can be damaged due to the increase in pressure. Due to the limit pressure in the line network 32 being exceeded, the pressure relief valve 36 is flowed through by the tank contents located in the line network 32. The tank contents are thus passed through the connecting line 30 into the downpipe section 16 and the downpipe section 16 is filled with the tank contents.
- FIG. 3 shows a second exemplary embodiment of a suction lifting device 10 and illustrates a second exemplary embodiment of the method for operating the suction lifting device 10.
- the suction lifting device 10 of the second exemplary embodiment has a storage tank 24.
- the storage tank 24 is arranged above the emptying line 14 and is designed to store part of the tank contents from the tank 12.
- the storage tank 24 is connected to a line 26, which opens into the downpipe section 16 of the drain line 14.
- the downpipe section 16 can be filled with the tank contents stored in the storage tank 24.
- a further shut-off valve 48 is arranged in line 26.
- the connecting line 30 opens into the storage tank 24.
- the storage tank 24 is filled with the tank contents located in the line network 32 by means of the connecting line 30 and the pressure relief valve 36. This is done in accordance with the FIG 2 explained embodiment of the method. In contrast to the exemplary embodiment FIG 2 the pressure in the line network 32 is reduced to an operating pressure and the shut-off valve 44 is opened as soon as the storage tank 24 has the amount of tank content required to fill the downpipe section 16.
- a passage of the downpipe section 16 is closed by means of the blocking element 20 and the downpipe section 16 is filled with the tank contents up to the minimum filling height 38.
- the downpipe section 16 is now filled from the storage tank 24. So that the downpipe section 16 can be filled from the storage tank 24, the further shut-off valve 48 is opened.
- the tank contents stored in the storage tank 24 are passed passively into the downpipe section 16 via the line 26.
- the further shut-off valve 48 can then be closed.
- the passage of the downpipe section 16 is opened by opening the locking element 20.

Description
The invention relates to a suction lifting device for emptying a tank and a method for operating the suction lifting device.
A tank can be emptied actively using a pump or passively using gravity. In order to limit the period of time in the event of passive emptying of the tank, a correspondingly large outflow rate is required. Here, the outflow rate is essentially limited by a line cross-section of a line through which the tank contents can be drained away. The size of the line cross-section determines the dimensioning of required components, such as the associated shut-off valves. The larger the required components are, the more weight the components have. By using a suction lifting device, large pipe cross-sections can be achieved and at the same time heavy shut-off valves can be dispensed with. The suction lifting device is a device for lifting a liquid due to a gravitational hydrostatic pressure difference between different sections of a discharge line of the suction lifting device. To initiate a suction lifting process, a liquid has previously been lifted within the emptying line over a vertex of the emptying line. For this purpose, a negative pressure is usually generated in a portion of the drain line. Due to the negative pressure, a tank content is lifted from a riser section of the drain line into a downpipe section, whereby a hydrostatic pressure difference can be generated. The greater the height of the tank and the larger the line cross-section, the more tank contents have to be lifted. In order to achieve this performance, components are required which take up a correspondingly large installation space and are heavy.

Furthermore, the invention is based on the object of providing a method for operating the suction lifting device according to the invention.
This object is achieved by a method according to the invention with the features of the adjacent method claim.
Advantageous developments of the present invention can be found in the dependent subclaims.
The suction lifting device provides that a blocking element is arranged in a downpipe section of the emptying line, by means of which a liquid can be stored in the downpipe section. A “downline section” is to be understood as meaning a section of the emptying line in which a liquid falls along a direction of the gravitational force during operation of the suction lifting device. Accordingly, a “riser” is to be understood as meaning a section of the emptying line in which a liquid rises against a direction of the gravitational force when the suction lifting device is in operation. Under a “blocking element” there should be one Fitting can be understood, which is designed to interrupt a flow of liquid.
Because the liquid can be stored in the downpipe section, a complex lifting process of the liquid over the apex of the drain pipe can be dispensed with. A power required to initiate the suction lifting process can be significantly reduced. Furthermore, the downpipe section can be prefilled with a low required power. The required installation space for the suction lifting device can thus be kept small and heavy components can be largely dispensed with.
In an advantageous embodiment variant, the blocking element is designed as a pneumatic pinch valve. Compared to conventional shut-off valves, the pneumatic pinch valve can be manufactured with low weight and small installation space. This makes it possible to reduce the weight and installation space of the suction lifting device.
An advantageous embodiment provides that the riser section has a suction opening and the blocking element is arranged below the suction opening in an operating orientation of the suction lifting device. The term “operating orientation” refers to an orientation of the suction lifting device in which it is ready for operation, i.e. can work in the intended manner. This operating orientation requires that an outlet opening of the drain line be lower than the suction opening. Therefore, the suction opening is arranged above the outlet opening in the operating orientation. This allows a hydrostatic pressure difference to be built up within the suction lifting device, due to which a liquid can be transported from the suction opening to the outlet opening during operation of the suction lifting device. The term "above" is intended to be understood broadly in this description. An object located above a reference object can be along a vertical line through the reference object or away from the reference object the reference object must be arranged on a vertical line.
An advantageous development provides a storage tank that is set up to store at least part of the liquid. Using the storage tank, the liquid can be stored in order to be able to initiate a suction lifting process regardless of the volume remaining in the tank.
In an advantageous embodiment, it is proposed that the storage tank is connected to a line by means of which the downpipe section can be at least partially filled with the liquid stored in the storage tank. The liquid can be introduced directly into the downpipe section via the line. In this way, the liquid can be introduced in a cost-effective manner. With a suitable arrangement of the tank, filling of the downpipe section can be accelerated. If the tank is arranged above the drain line, the liquid can be introduced passively into the downpipe section, i.e. without additional pump power.
The suction lifting device described above is used in a tank system with a tank. The tank can be emptied quickly within a limited period of time. Waiting times when emptying the tank can be shortened.
The riser section is at least partially arranged within the tank. Furthermore, a connecting line is provided, which opens into the drain line and by means of which the contents of the tank can be directed into the downpipe section. The downpipe section can be filled with the connecting pipe in a simple manner. The tank contents can be led directly into the downpipe section. Furthermore, heavy components necessary for the lifting process, such as an injector in the sense of a jet pump, can be used to generate of negative pressure in a section of the drain line. The connecting line can be set up to supply the tank contents from the pipe network or directly from the tank to the downpipe section. Furthermore, the connecting line can open directly into the downpipe section or be connected to a further connecting line which opens directly into the downpipe section and/or the storage tank.
Another advantageous development provides a pipe network and a feed pump. The feed pump is set up to pump the tank contents from the tank into the pipe network. By means of the connecting line, the tank contents in the pipeline network can be directed into the downpipe section. Existing components such as the feed pump can be used to pump the tank contents into the downpipe section. The downpipe section can be pressurized using the feed pump. This can speed up the filling process. Additional components can be dispensed with and easy retrofitting and significant weight savings can be achieved. The connecting line is preferably intended to supply a liquid to the storage tank. The tank contents are particularly preferably provided as liquid.
In an advantageous embodiment variant, a pressure relief valve is arranged in the connecting line. If a limit pressure in the pipe network is exceeded, the pressure relief valve is set up to open. Preferably, if the pressure in the pipe network falls below the limit, the pressure relief valve is closed. The filling of the downpipe section can be controlled using the limit pressure, the pressure relief valve and the feed pump. Due to the use of the pressure relief valve, shut-off valves and additional safety devices, such as a backflow preventer, can be combined in a component that requires little installation space and is low in weight.
The suction lifting device according to the invention can be operated using the method according to the invention. The procedure provides for a passage in the downpipe section to be closed. The downpipe section is then filled with a liquid up to a minimum filling level. If a minimum filling height is reached, the passage of the downpipe section is opened. A “minimum filling level” is to be understood as meaning a level at which the downpipe section is filled with the liquid. The minimum filling level is reached as soon as a hydrostatic pressure of the liquid at the blocking element arranged in the downpipe section is greater than a hydrostatic pressure at the suction opening of the riser pipe. The minimum filling height can therefore depend, among other things, on a liquid level of the tank contents in the tank. When the minimum filling level in the downpipe section is reached, the suction lifting process can be started. For this purpose, the passage of the downpipe section can be opened. The downpipe section can be filled gradually. Small components can be used for filling, which are light and/or require little installation space. This can save costs and weight.
According to the invention, the tank system is used in a vehicle. A tank arranged in the vehicle is emptied using the suction lifting device. Due to the low weight and the low space requirements, the suction lifting device has proven particularly useful in vehicles.
In an advantageous development, a suction lifting device is operated with a storage tank and the downpipe section is filled with a liquid from the storage tank. This allows filling of the downpipe section to be accelerated.
In an advantageous embodiment variant of the method, it is proposed that in the event of a risk of frost, the tank is essentially completely emptied. The tank can be lifted using the suction lifting device with a normative specification drained quickly at the appropriate flow rate. Furthermore, damage to the tank caused by frost can be prevented.

Furthermore, the
A blocking
A connecting

Based on

As soon as the
