Description

ENGINE COVER WITH SUPPORT
Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to an engine cover which is used by being placed on the upper part of the engine and provides strength against high temperatures.
Background of the Invention
In the prior art, there is an engine located in the lower part of the hood preferably in the front part of the vehicle and generating a drive for the movement of the vehicle. There are aesthetic covers so that the engine is not seen by the user upon opening the vehicle hood and the vehicle engine is protected from unwanted substances such as dust, dirt, liquids, etc. The aesthetic covers are positioned on the top of the vehicle engine and they are fixed such that they will not be able to move on the vehicle engine. The plastic covers used in the current technique are affected from the temperature generated in the engine, and they become unusable due to permanent deformation by losing their rigidity. The plastic cover may break or lose its form since they do not have sufficient strength in cases of hitting, crashing from outside.
United States Patent document no US7255085B2, an application known in the state of the art, discloses an engine cover which is comprised of three layers and comprises a dom-shaped embossed portions on the top layer in order to decrease vibrations. The said document does not include a structure or teaching for a temperature problem or reinforcing the engine cover.
Chinese patent document no CN106894914, an application known in the state of the art, discloses an aluminum cover cap for automobile engines. In the said document, the cover in shape of rectangular profile is comprised of ribs located on the edge parts of the cover and increasing strength, and upper rib parts located on the cover, placed parallel and used in heat insulation. The said document does not include a structure or teaching for a temperature problem or reinforcing the engine cover.
The Problems Solved with the Invention
The objective of the present invention is to provide an engine cover with support which is resistance against high temperature and external factors, and prevents the deflection of the cover.
The objective of the present invention is to provide an engine cover with support which is durable and easy to manufacture.
Detailed Description of the Invention
An engine cover with support developed to fulfill the objectives of the present invention is illustrated in the accompanying figures, in which:
Figure 1 is the top perspective view of the internal part of the inventive engine cover with support.
Figure 2 is the front perspective view of the internal part of the inventive engine cover with support.
Figure 3 is the front perspective view of the profile on the inventive engine cover with support.
Figure 4 is the front perspective view of a different version of the profile on the inventive engine cover with support.
The components given in the figures are individually numbered where the numbers refer to the following: 1. Engine cover
2. Body
21. Edge part
3. Profile
31. Edge projection
32. Hole
33. Transverse projection
An engine cover (1) which is used by being placed on the upper part of the engine and provides strength against high temperatures comprises
At least one body (2) which has the shape to cover a top portion of an engine,
At least one profile (3) which is provided on the body (2) and which is used for the strength of the body (2) against high temperature and external factors.
The inventive engine cover (1) is comprised of a body (2) which has the shape and dimension to cover the vehicle engine and which is preferably formed of plastic, and a profile (3) which is located on/in the body on the horizontal axis and provides rigidity to the body (2). The profile (3) extends on/in the body (2) on the horizontal axis and prevents the deflection of the body (2) due to high temperature by forming support in the horizontal direction to the cover body (2).
In an embodiment of the present invention, there is a plurality of profiles (3) provided on/in the body (2) of the engine cover (1) and form a frame structure for the body (2).
In one embodiment of the present invention, there is an edge part (21) extending on at least one edge of the body (2) from the body (2) to the upper surface of the engine on which it is located. In one embodiment of the invention, there are edge parts (21) extending from the whole perimeter of the body (2). In one embodiment of the invention, the profile (3) is in form of a rectangle with or without comers having long edge and short edges.
In one embodiment of the invention, there is an edge projection (31) which is used in increasing the strength of the profile (3) preferably at long edge parts of the profile (3) and which is in form of a protrusion. In another embodiment of the invention, the profile (3) is in shape of a letter H. In another embodiment of the invention, the profile (3) is a U profile.
In one embodiment of the invention, there is a hole (3) provided on the profile (3) and used in preventing the deformation of the profile (3) due to expansion occurring at high temperatures. In another embodiment of the invention, there is a plurality of consecutive holes (32) on the profile.
In one embodiment of the invention, there is at least one transverse projection (33) extending transversely between the edges on the profile (3) and used in increasing the strength of the profile (3) against temperature and external factors. In another embodiment of the invention, there is a plurality of transverse projections which are more than one and coincide with each other transversely.
In one embodiment of the invention, profile (3) parts are mounted inside the body (3) as inserts.
In one embodiment of the invention, the body (2) and/or profile (3) is manufactured from a polyurethane material.
In one embodiment of the invention, the profile (3) is manufactured from polyamide material. In this way, a lighter structure which is compatible with polyurethane is formed. In an embodiment of the present invention, the body (2) and the profile are manufactured in the same mold such that they will be in the same form and the profile (3) will be inside the body (2). By means of the holes (32) provided on the profile (3), when the polyurethane in gel form filling into the holes (32) solidify and freeze during molding, it enables the holes (32) of the said polyurethane profile (3) and their surroundings to be filled and to be fixed in the desired place inside the polyurethane body (2). Furthermore, by means of these holes (32) the polyamide insert becomes quite light. By means of the U form of the profile (3), two thick edge projections (3) located on the right and left prevents the deflection of the polyurethane material in Z direction when subjected to high temperature. Furthermore, this polyamide plastic profiled insert remains inside the polyurethane body (2) like a frame when viewed from the outside and it cannot be seen. It does not require mounting from the outside in any way. A person looking the polyurethane body (2) does not realize that there is a polyamide frame system inside this cover. The engine cover (1), which has a frame system made of new design polyamide inserts, protects the polyurethane body (2) without losing its rigidity when exposed to high temperatures coming from the engine.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the body (2) and the profile (3) come out of the same mold with one shot application at a density of 250 GR/DM3 and they are formed in the same mold.
In one embodiment of the invention, there is at least one slot inside the body (2) in which the profile (3) will be placed.
