Definitions
- the present invention relates to a striking mechanism for a timepiece such as a wristwatch or a pocket watch.
- the striking mechanism is for example a minute repeater or a grand strike.
- the present invention relates more particularly to a striking mechanism of the type described in the patent EP 3108307 B1 of the plaintiff, that is to say comprising at least one gong, an actuating device for actuating the gong(s), a striking barrel, a rocker clutch device for coupling the device to actuation to the striking barrel, the lever of the clutch device being arranged to pivot between a first position where the actuating device is coupled to the striking barrel and a second position where the actuating device is decoupled from the striking barrel , and a bell trigger device.
- the patent EP 3108307 B1 describes two exemplary embodiments for the bell triggering device.
- a release lever 15 serves as a support for a pin 14 carried by the rocker 6 of the clutch device to retain this rocker.
- a bell trigger button 15a the trigger lever 15 is pivoted, which releases the rocker 6, which pivots under the action of its return spring to pass from its first to its second position, thus triggering taking information of the number of strokes to ring then raising the rocker 6 to its first position and then the ringing itself.
- the bell trigger device comprises a trigger lever 124 and a control lever 125 pivotable at respective points 126, 127 which are fixed relative to each other.
- the lever trigger 124 serves as a support for a pin 121 carried by the rocker, designated here by the reference 110, of the clutch device to retain this rocker.
- the control lever 125 is controlled by the bell trigger pusher and carries a retractable lip 132 which, when the pusher is actuated, comes into contact with a lip 133 of the trigger lever 124 to pivot the trigger lever 124 and release thus the flip-flop 110.
- the trigger device there is a risk that too rapid a release of the pusher by the user will cause the trigger lever 15 to come to block against the pin 14 of the rocker before the seesaw has completed its ascent to its first position.
- the rocker of the clutch device is then prevented from returning to its first position where it would allow the striking barrel to actuate the gong(s) via the actuating device.
- the mechanism is blocked.
- the rocker of the clutch device drops back down to its second position even though the bell has not finished ringing. ringing, which restarts the ringing and so on until the energy of the ringing barrel is exhausted. The same phenomenon can occur if the push-button is pressed while the bell is ringing.
- the triggering device can cause the same type of malfunction as the first exemplary embodiment when the push-button is actuated while the bell is ringing: the bell restarts before it has finished ringing, the phenomenon repeating itself until the energy of the striking barrel is exhausted.
- This type of malfunction can also occur during very slow actuation of the bell trigger push-piece, during which, because of the retractable spout 132, the trigger device may find itself in an unstable equilibrium position.
- the present invention aims to remedy, in part at least, the aforementioned drawbacks and to this end proposes a striking mechanism for a timepiece according to claim 1, particular embodiments being defined in the dependent claims.
- the figures 1 to 5 show a striking mechanism as described in the patent EP 3108307 B1 .
- This striking mechanism is for example a minute repeater or a grand strike. It is intended to be integrated or added to the movement of a piece timepiece such as a wristwatch.
- This striking mechanism comprises, in a frame 1, a striking train 2 connecting a striking barrel 3 to a regulator 4.
- the striking barrel 3 can be the barrel of the movement or a barrel dedicated to striking. It engages with a wheel 2a of the striking train 2 and can be wound by turning a winding stem 5.
- the winding stem 5 is preferably the winding stem of the movement, also serving to wind the barrel of the movement.
- Regulator 4 is for example a centrifugal regulator (Watt regulator). It is used to regulate the tempo of the strokes to be sounded.
- a clutch rocker 6 pivoting about an axis 7 carries two pinions 8, 9 rotatable with respect to the rocker 6.
- the pinion 8 is rotatable about the axis 7 and is permanently in mesh with a pinion 10 integral with a ring shaft 11.
- the pinion 8 also meshes permanently with the pinion 9, said clutch pinion.
- the clutch pinion 9 meshes with a pinion 12 which is engaged with the striking barrel 3 and therefore transmits the movement of the striking barrel 3 to the striking shaft 11 via the pinions 8, 10.
- a second position or disengaged position, of the clutch rocker 6 the clutch pinion 9 does not mesh with the pinion 12 and therefore leaves the ring shaft 11 free to rotate.
- the clutch rocker 6 is subjected to the action of a return spring 13 which tends to cause it to pivot in the disengagement direction.
- the clutch rocker 6 carries a pin 14 (cf. figure 2 ) which, when the striking mechanism is in its rest state, is held against a first end of a striking trigger lever 15 by the action of the return spring 13, thus maintaining the clutch rocker 6 in its engaged position.
- the bell trigger lever 15 In its rest position, the bell trigger lever 15 is held against a surface 1a of the frame 1 by an all-or-nothing return spring 17.
- the bell trigger lever 15 can be pivoted in the clockwise direction of the figure 2 to release the pin 14 and therefore the clutch rocker 6 by pushing axially a tube 15a which acts on a second end 16 of the striking trigger lever 15.
- the tube 15a surrounds the winding stem 5 and is associated with a push-crown (not shown) mounted on the end of said winding stem 5.
- the striking trigger lever 15 could be actuated by a pusher independent of the winding stem 5.
- the rocker clutch 6 defines a spout 18 (cf. figure 1 ) which cooperates with a stop star 19 secured to a wheel 2b of the ring gear 2, to lock the ring gear 2 and the ring barrel 3, when the clutch rocker 6 is in its disengaged position.
- the hour ratchet 20 is integral with the striking shaft 11.
- the quarter 21 and minute 22 ratchets are free to rotate with respect to the striking shaft 11.
- the teeth of the ratchets 20, 21, 22 are used to actuate bell lifts 23, 24, 25, 26 which themselves actuate hammers 27, 28 which strike gongs 29, 30 to excite them.
- the lifts include a 23-hour lift, a 24-hour first lift coaxial with the 23-hour lift, a 25-minute lift, and a 26-minute second lift coaxial with the 25-minute lift.
- Each group of lifts 23-24 respectively 25-26, is arranged to actuate a respective hammer 27, 28, which is arranged to strike a respective stamp 29, 30, the two stamps 29, 30 producing different sounds.
- the hour ratchet 20 comprises a set of teeth with 12 teeth to actuate the hour lever 23 so that the latter actuates the hammer 27, called the hour hammer.
- the minute ratchet 22 comprises a 14-tooth toothing to actuate the minute lifter 25 so that it actuates the hammer 28, called the minute hammer.
- the quarter ratchet 21 comprises two toothings with 3 teeth to actuate the two lifts of the quarters 24, 26, respectively, so that these alternately operate the 27 hour hammer and the 28 minute hammer.
- the hour, quarter and minute ratchets 20, 21, 22 are secured respectively to the hour, quarter and minute pinions, of which only the quarter 32 and minute 33 pinions are visible at the picture 3 .
- the hour pinion is meshed with a toothing of a 34 hour rake.
- the quarter pinion 32 is meshed with a toothing of a quarter rake 35.
- the minute pinion 33 is meshed with a toothing of a minute rake 36.
- the quarter and minute rakes 35, 36 pivot around the same axis 37.
- the hours rake 34 preferably pivots around an axis 38 separate from the pivot axis 37 quarter and minute rakes 35, 36, but could alternatively pivot about the same pivot axis 37 as the quarter and minute rakes 35, 36.
- a feeler for the hours 39 is pivotally mounted around the pivot axis 38 of the rake for the hours 34.
- the beak 40 of the feeler for the hours 39 is arranged to cooperate with a cam for the hours 41 (visible on the figure 1 ).
- a pin (not visible in the drawings) carried by the hour feeler 39 and engaged in an opening of the hour rake 34 defines a range of relative angular displacement between the hour feeler 39 and the hour rake 34.
- a quarters feeler 44 is pivotally mounted around the pivot axis 37 of the quarters rake 35 and of the minutes rake 36.
- the beak 45 of the quarters feeler 44 is arranged to cooperate with a quarters cam 46 (cf. figure 4 ).
- a pin 47 carried by the quarters rake 35 and engaged in an opening 48 of the quarters feeler 44 defines a range of relative angular displacement between the quarters feeler 44 and the quarters rake 35.
- a minutes feeler 49 is integral with the minutes rack 36 and preferably in one piece with the minutes rack 36 (cf. picture 3 ).
- the Beak 50 of the minutes feeler 49 is arranged to cooperate with a minutes cam 51 (cf. figure 4 ).
- the hour, quarter and minute cams 41, 46, 51 are driven by the movement in a conventional manner.
- the quarter and minute cams 46, 51 pivot around the same axis which may be that of the movement roadway.
- the hour cam 41 is preferably not coaxial with the quarter and minute cams 46, 51.
- Each of the hour, quarter and minute racks 34, 35, 36 is subjected to the action of a return spring 52, 53, 54 (cf. picture 3 ) tending to rotate it in the direction that brings the beak of the corresponding feeler closer to the corresponding cam.
- the shift feeler 44 comprises at its end opposite to that defining the shift spout 45 a spout 63 arranged to actuate a first clutch control lever 64 (cf. figure 4 ).
- the first clutch control lever 64 is mounted on the shift rack 35 and subjected to the action of a return spring 65 which keeps it in contact with the beak 63 of the shift feeler 44.
- the first control lever clutch lever 64 is arranged to actuate a second clutch control lever 66 mounted on the frame 1.
- the second clutch control lever 66 defines a fork 67 which receives the pin 14 carried by the clutch lever 6.
- the clutch device is no longer in the form of a clutch rocker 6 carrying pinions 8, 9 but in the form of a rocker 110 and a differential gear 111 controlled by this rocker 110.
- the clutch device comprises a rocker, a vertical clutch mobile and a spring control member acting on the vertical clutch mobile and itself controlled by the rocker.
- the bell trigger lever 15 can be replaced by a trigger lever 124 and a control lever 125 pivoting at respective points 126, 127 which are fixed with respect to the frame 1.
- the trigger lever 124 cooperates with the pin, designated here by the reference 121, carried by the rocker of the clutch device to retain it, and comprises a beak 133.
- the trigger lever 124 has its own return spring 128 and its own stop 130 which defines its rest position.
- the control lever 125 can be actuated by the user by means of the ringing trigger button (push-crown or independent button) and is subjected to the action of a return spring 129 of the all or nothing type.
- the control lever 125 carries a retractable spout 132.
- bell triggering device 15 and 124, 125 shown in figure 2 and 5 have the drawbacks set out in the introductory part of the present application: they cannot prevent malfunctions of the striking mechanism in certain cases of irregular manipulation of the pusher by the user.
- the striking mechanism according to the invention is identical to that illustrated in figures 1 to 4 except for its trigger device. Another optional difference is that in the present invention the shift feeler 44 and the first clutch control lever 64 are merged and are integral with the shift rake 35, this in order to simplify the mechanism while ensuring good synchronization between the contact of the beak 45 with the shift cam 46 and the actuation of the second clutch control lever 66 by the shift feeler 44.
- the first clutch control lever 64 thus becomes a beak of the shift feeler 44 and of the shift rake 35, which will be designated hereinafter by the same reference , 64.
- a first embodiment of the device for triggering the striking mechanism according to the invention is shown in figure 6 . It comprises a main body 200, an auxiliary body 201 and a safety body 202.
- the main member 200 is a lever pivoted at a fixed point 203 with respect to the frame 1 of the striking mechanism and is manually operable via a striking trigger button or other manual member such as a lock.
- a return spring 204 preferably of the on/off type, tends to hold the main member 200 against a stop 205 which defines its rest position.
- the main body 200 carries, at its end opposite that on which the pusher acts, a retractable spout 206 consisting of two upper 206a and lower 206b concurrent parts and pivoted at a point 206c on the main body 200.
- the main body 200 further carries an abutment 207 (visible at figure 13 ), a return spring 208 which tends to hold the retractable spout 206 against the abutment 207 and an actuating pin 209.
- the abutment 207 is constituted by the wall of an oblong hole in which is engaged a pin 206d carried by the retractable spout 206.
- the auxiliary member 201 is a lever pivoted at a point 210 fixed relative to the frame 1 and comprises a beak 211 arranged to cooperate with the actuating pin 209. With this auxiliary member 201 are associated, as for the main member 200 and the retractable spout 206, a return spring 212 and a stopper 213.
- the safety device 202 is a lever pivoted at a point 214 fixed relative to the frame 1 and also has its return spring 215 and its stop 216.
- the safety device 202 comprises a beak 217.
- the user rotates the main body 200 clockwise figures 6 and 7 , which main member 200 therefore deviates from the fork 67.
- the auxiliary member 201 is itself pivoted counterclockwise by the actuating pin 209 carried by the main member 200 and thus deviates from the trajectory of the pin 14.
- Nothing can retain the rocker 6, 110 of the clutch device which drops to its second position (cf. figure 8 ) where the clutch device is disengaged and the striking barrel 3 is decoupled from the striking shaft 11.
- the information acquisition phase begins, during which the feelers for hours 39, quarters 44 and minutes 49 will take the information of the number of strokes to ring on the cams for hours 41, quarters 46 and minutes 51.
- the quarters rake 35 releases the safety device 202 which rests in low position against his stop 216 (cf. figure 9 ).
- the shift rake 35 also raises the clutch control lever 66 and its fork 67 to its initial position via its beak 64.
- the clutch control lever 66 briefly raises the safety member 202 and then lets it fall against its stop 216.
- the beak 217 of the safety member 202 is engaged in a notch 218 of the lever clutch control 66 and is almost in contact with a beak 219 of the latter.
- the clutch device is in its engaged state and the 3 striking barrel begins to rotate the 34 hour, 35 quarter and 36 minute rakes in the other direction, opposing the force of their springs of reminder, to ring the bell.
- the main member 200 and the auxiliary member 201 return to their rest position (cf. figure 10 ).
- the shift rack 35 puts the safety device 202 back in its high position (cf. figure 6 ).
- the beak 64 As long as the beak 64 is in contact with the clutch control lever 66, it maintains the latter in position. At some point during the ringing, after the quarter ringing, the beak 64 loses contact with the clutch control lever 66. If the user has released the pusher, the upper part 206a of the retractable beak 206 retains the fork 67 after the contact between the beak 64 and the clutch control lever 66 has been lost, allowing the bell to continue ringing. If the user has still not released the pusher, it is the safety device 202 which retains the clutch control lever 66 after loss of contact between the beak 64 and the clutch control lever 66 , by cooperating with the beak 219.
- the user can therefore extend his pressure on the pusher as much as he wishes, the ringing mechanism will not be disturbed.
- the main member 200 returns to its rest position and, by cooperating with the face of the inclined end 67a of the upper tooth of the fork 67, slightly lifts the fork 67 and therefore the pin 14 which allows the auxiliary member 201 to return to its place under the pin 14.
- the resisting torque exerted by the auxiliary member 201 on the lever 6, 110 via the pin 14 is insufficient to prevent the raising of the lever 6, 110.
- the return spring 212 of the auxiliary member 201 as the return spring 208 of the retractable spout 206, in fact has a low stiffness.
- rocker 6, 110 is in its first position, auxiliary member 201 can return to its rest position, under pin 14 (cf. figure 13 ).
- the rocker 6, 110 is then retained in its first position by the fork 67 itself retained by the contact between the beak 64 and the clutch control lever 66 until the beak 64 loses contact with the lever clutch control 66 (after the bell of the quarters), moment from which the auxiliary member 201 takes over by serving as a stop for the pin 14.
- the rocker 6, 110 of the clutch device is thus retained by the auxiliary member 201 until the end of the ringing and even until the next triggering of the ringing after which the main member 200 can return to its rest position with its beak 206 in its rest position, not retracted, where it retains fork 67 (cf. figure 6 ).
- the main member 200 pivots and makes the auxiliary member 201 pivot, but the clutch control lever 66 is retained by the safety member 202, which maintains the rocker 6, 110 of the clutch device in its first position. No malfunction occurs.
- the main member 200 returns to its rest position and, by cooperating with the inclined end face 67a of the upper tooth of the fork 67, slightly lifts the fork 67 and therefore the pin 14 which allows the auxiliary member 201 to resume its place under the pin 14.
- the striking mechanism does not malfunction either in the event of very slow actuation of the striking trigger pusher since no position of unstable equilibrium can be obtained thanks in particular to the rigid connection (without retractable nose) between the main organ 200 and the auxiliary member 201.
- the figures 14 to 17 show a second embodiment of the trigger device according to the invention.
- the retractable spout 206 of the main body 200 cooperates with the pin 14 rather than with the fork 67 (not represented on the figures 14 to 17 ).
- the auxiliary member 201 is coaxial with the main member 200 and its return spring 212 and its stop 213 are carried by the main member 200.
- the pin 14 bears against an inclined upper face of the retractable spout 206 and the auxiliary member 201 is located under the pin 14 but with a slight play between it and the pin 14.
- the main member 200 and the auxiliary member 201 pivot integrally clockwise at a point 220 and thus move apart every two of the pin 14, allowing the rocker 6 of the clutch device to drop from its first position to its second position where the striking barrel 3 is decoupled from the striking shaft 11.
- the main body 200 falls back into its rest position, against its abutment.
- the retractable spout 206 of the main body 200 is then above the pin 14 but retracts in contact with the pin 14, allowing the rocker 6 to complete its ascent.
- the auxiliary member 201 moves back relative to the main member 200 in contact with the pin 14 and is replaced under the pin 14 at the end of the movement of the rocker 6 (cf. figure 17 ).
- the resistant torque exerted by the auxiliary member 201 on the rocker 6 via the pin 14 is insufficient to prevent the rise of the rocker 6.
- the return spring 212 of the auxiliary member 201 like the return spring 208 of the retractable spout 206, has indeed a low stiffness.
- the auxiliary member 201 retains the pin 14 as soon as the beak 64 of the quarters rake 35 loses contact with the clutch control lever 66 (after the quarters ringing), and this until the end of the ringing and even until the next triggering of the ringing after which the main body 200 can return to its rest position with its beak 206 in its rest position, not retracted, where it retains the pin 14 (cf. figure 14 ).
- the safety device 202 intervenes in the event of continuous actuation of the bell trigger push-button or of actuation of the bell trigger push-button while the bell is ringing, as in the first embodiment.
- the inclination of the upper face of the retractable spout 206 allows the latter to slightly lift the pin 14, so that the auxiliary member 201 can resume its place under the pin 14, after the release of the pusher.
- the auxiliary member 201 is pivotally mounted on the main member 200 instead of being coaxial with the main member 200.
- the figure 18 shows a third embodiment of the trigger device according to the invention.
- the trigger device according to this third embodiment is functionally similar to that of the second embodiment, but the main member 200, with its retractable spout 206, and the auxiliary member 201 are part of the same monolithic part pivoted in one point 221.
- the retractable spout 206 is coupled to the body of the main member 200 by a first flexible guide 222 and the auxiliary member 201 is coupled to the body of the main member 200 by a second flexible guide 223.
- the first flexible guide 222 has crossed blades and guides the retractable spout 206 essentially in rotation relative to the body of the main member 200 while the second flexible guide 223 has circular necks and guides the auxiliary member 201 essentially in translation relative to the body of the main member 200.
- the flexible guides 222, 223 also act as return springs for the retractable spout 206 and the auxiliary member ire 201.
- the various embodiments described above are not exhaustive. Many other modifications could be made without departing from the scope of the claimed invention.
- the auxiliary member 201 and the safety member 202 could be movable in translation. Whether they are mobile in rotation or in translation, the main 200, auxiliary 201 and safety 202 members can be guided by rigid elements (axes, slides, etc.) or by flexible guides.

Description
The present invention relates to a striking mechanism for a timepiece such as a wristwatch or a pocket watch. The striking mechanism is for example a minute repeater or a grand strike.

These two embodiments of the bell triggering device have drawbacks, which are set out below.
With regard to the trigger device according to the first example embodiment, there is a risk that too rapid a release of the pusher by the user will cause the
As for the triggering device according to the second exemplary embodiment, it can cause the same type of malfunction as the first exemplary embodiment when the push-button is actuated while the bell is ringing: the bell restarts before it has finished ringing, the phenomenon repeating itself until the energy of the striking barrel is exhausted. This type of malfunction can also occur during very slow actuation of the bell trigger push-piece, during which, because of the

If the user activates the bell trigger button while the bell is ringing, the
The striking mechanism does not malfunction either in the event of very slow actuation of the striking trigger pusher since no position of unstable equilibrium can be obtained thanks in particular to the rigid connection (without retractable nose) between the

In a variant of the second embodiment (not shown), the

It goes without saying that the various embodiments described above are not exhaustive. Many other modifications could be made without departing from the scope of the claimed invention. For example, in the first embodiment, instead of being pivotally mounted, the
