Description

The invention relates to a mop cleaning device. A mop cleaning device such as a mop generally consists of a handle at the lower end of which is hinged a plate. A flat fringe, in cotton or microfiber for example, is removably attached to the plate. The invention extends to brush brooms, so that the term "fringe" covers in the present patent application, not only flat fringes of the removable cotton or microfiber strip type but also brushes.

To clean a floor, the user of a conventional flat mop must first impregnate the mop with a cleaning product by dipping it in a bucket filled with product. The fringe thus impregnated is then fixed on the plate. In doing so, the user's hands are frequently in contact with the cleaning product, which is undesirable given the somewhat aggressive nature of certain products for the skin. The user is also required to carry a relatively heavy bucket with the health risks that this entails (back pain, MSDs (musculoskeletal disorders), etc.) and the risk of falling by slipping if the user overturns the bucket and the product spills on the floor.

There are mops with flat mop, which include a tank for receiving a cleaning product, which tank is mounted on the handle and communicates via a hose with one or more spray nozzles located near the lower end of the handle. In some of these devices, a pump actuated by a lever or a push button on the handle makes it possible to spray the product directly onto the ground through the spray nozzles, at the front of the broom near the fringe. Before using the broom, the cleaning product, packaged in a can, either ready for use or in a concentrated form to be diluted, is poured into the reservoir.

WO2004/080265 discloses another example of a mop and tank mops.

EP 0 461 873 A2 discloses a device for applying wax to a floor, which comprises a reservoir receiving a carton of wax and an application head which carries a wipe permeable to wax. A pipe connects an outlet of the reservoir to the wax run-off orifices located in the application head and distributed over the length of the wipe.

Reservoir brooms eliminate the need for buckets filled with water or cleaning product. But they are not without drawbacks: filling the reservoir is a difficult operation, during which the user of the broom can come into contact with the cleaning product; the product sprayed on the floor is not evenly distributed and cleaning is therefore uneven; the direct sprinkling of the product on the ground leads to a large consumption of water and cleaning product for a result that is not better for all that; moreover, it is not uncommon for the spray nozzles of the front brooms to become clogged or for the pump or its actuation handle to have operating problems. Finally, the weight of the cleaning product on the handle contributes to the appearance of MSDs in users.

The invention aims to solve the aforementioned problems. Mainly, the invention aims to provide a cleaning device that is easy to use, reliable, and in which the dosage of cleaning product and the quantity of liquid used are perfectly controlled.

To do this, the invention proposes a cleaning device comprising a handle, a cleaning head including a plate equipped with a fringe, and a chamber for receiving a cleaning liquid.

It should be noted that the expression "cleaning liquid" does not intend to limit the field of action of the liquid: it includes in particular descaling and disinfecting liquids. Furthermore, the term “handle” denotes here both a long handle of the broomstick type and a short handle such as a handle of a device of the wetter or squeegee type for washing windows. Moreover, as indicated in the introduction, the term "fringe" covers not only the fringes plates and brushes for washing floors, but also sausages and other microfiber skins for washing windows. Thus the invention applies not only to a device of the broom type for washing floors and to a device of the wetting type (T-shaped) for washing windows.

  • ✔ le dispositif comprend un conduit d'écoulement du liquide de nettoyage depuis la chambre de perforation jusqu'à la platine ;
The cleaning device according to the invention is characterized in that:
  • ✔ the chamber, called the perforation chamber, is configured to be able to receive a carton of cleaning liquid, which carton comprises a pocket and the cleaning liquid, contained in the pocket, the perforation chamber being provided with a knife, or other perforation tool, configured to be able to perforate the pocket on installation of the carton in the perforation chamber for the purposes of release of cleaning fluid; "knife" means any blunt tool (blade, needle, tip, etc.) capable of perforating or cutting the pocket.
  • ✔ the device comprises a conduit for the flow of the cleaning liquid from the perforation chamber to the platen;
  • ✔ the cleaning head comprises an upper wall connected to said flow conduit and a lower wall forming the plate, which lower wall is provided with one or more holes allowing the cleaning liquid to pass through the plate to impregnate the mop.

Thus, the chamber of the device according to the invention is not intended to be filled directly with cleaning liquid but to receive a pocket containing this liquid. As soon as it is installed, this pocket is pierced and all of the liquid leaves the perforation chamber and flows towards the platen via the flow conduit, for the purpose of impregnating the fringe. The impregnation of the mop is total and instantaneous (depending on the viscosity of the cleaning liquid, it may however be recommended to wait a few seconds after perforation of the pocket to ensure that the mop is completely and correctly impregnated). The perforation chamber therefore does not constitute a "reservoir" for storing the cleaning liquid as in previous brushes.

Thanks to the use of cartons according to the invention, the user of the device is not in contact with the cleaning liquid when he refills the device with product. Filling is carried out without the risk of spilling liquid outside the perforation chamber. In addition, the dose of liquid introduced into the chamber and used is perfectly controlled. In addition, the handling of the device is not constrained by an additional load in the handle, unlike known tank brooms.

Furthermore, the cleaning liquid is not sent to a spray nozzle but to the fringe so as to completely impregnate the latter when the carton is installed in the perforation chamber. There elimination of the spray nozzles and of the pump making it possible to send the liquid into the spray nozzles in the front brooms in fact solves all the reliability problems of these elements. In addition, the quantity of cleaning liquid used is less for an equivalent or even better result and the cleaning is more homogeneous.

The use of ready-to-use cartons of liquid also makes it possible to control the quantity of liquid used.

According to a possible characteristic of the invention, the lower end of the handle of the device is articulated on the upper wall of the cleaning head by a connection of the ball joint type or of the cardan joint type.

It is considered that the cleaning liquid flow conduit has an upper portion between the perforation chamber and a point located close to the lower end of the handle, and a lower portion below this upper portion.

According to a possible characteristic of the invention:
  • ✔ the perforation chamber is attached to the handle,
  • ✔ the cleaning liquid flow duct comprises, on its upper portion, a pipe, called the primary pipe, which is attached to the handle and runs along it. As a variant, the upper portion of the flow conduit can be formed directly by the handle, which is then tubular, or by a pipe inserted into the tubular handle.

Preferably, the device comprises a protective casing enclosing the perforation chamber, the handle and the primary pipe.

Downstream of this primary pipe, various embodiments are possible.

According to a first possible embodiment:
  • ✔ the cleaning head has a diffusion volume between its upper wall and its lower wall, this diffusion volume being able to receive the cleaning liquid contained in the perforated pocket and to diffuse all of the cleaning liquid on the lower wall of the head cleaning (plate), which lower wall is pierced with a plurality of holes for the purposes impregnation of the fringe by the cleaning liquid contained in the diffusion volume.
  • ✔ on the lower portion of the flow duct, the primary pipe is extended by a secondary pipe which deviates from the handle and then opens into the diffusion volume through a single opening in the upper wall of the cleaning head.

According to a second possible embodiment:
  • ✔ the upper wall and the lower wall of the cleaning head are two sides of a single plate,
  • ✔ on the lower portion of the flow duct, the primary pipe splits into two pipes, called distribution pipes, each distribution pipe leading to an opening passing through said plate.

In this second embodiment devoid of diffusion volume above the fringe, it is the fringe itself which ensures the diffusion of the cleaning liquid and its distribution over the entire surface of the fringe.

According to a possible characteristic of the invention, the knife comprises a polygonal blade comprising two consecutive sides oriented upwards in the perforation chamber, of which at least one is sharpened, the blade being fixed to the bottom of the perforation chamber by another side.

According to a possible characteristic of the invention, the fringe is a flat fringe and the lower wall (or plate) of the cleaning head has two slides on a lower face in which are housed fastening strips of the loop or hook type ( velcro® ) allowing the flat fringe to be removably fixed, which flat fringe has an upper face provided with a fixing surface of the type with loops or hooks complementary to said fixing strips. Preferably, the fastening strips inserted in the slides of the plate are provided with hooks, while the fastening surfaces of the fringe are provided with loops.

The invention extends to a cleaning system characterized in that it comprises a cleaning device according to the invention and a carton housed in the perforation chamber of the device.

According to a possible characteristic of the invention, the pocket of the carton has a lower perforation zone, of less thickness, identified by dotted lines.

It is possible to provide cartons of various volumes corresponding to surfaces to be cleaned of various areas. For example, a 210 ml carton is particularly suitable for a surface of the order of 40 m 2 , and a 180 ml carton corresponds to a surface of up to 30 m 2 .

It is also possible to provide cartons with multiple compartments so as to simultaneously release and/or mix just before use two or more different solutions to obtain a specific action.

Preferably, the cartons are generally cylindrical with a width or a diameter corresponding substantially to the internal diameter of the perforation chamber. Preferably, the width or the diameter of the carton is equal to the internal diameter of the perforation chamber, so that the carton fits just into the chamber. It is indeed preferable that the carton does not slide freely in the chamber, without its installation requiring significant pressure on the part of the user (such installation of the carton in the chamber, assisted by the user, guarantees that the carton is correctly pierced by the knife). In a preferred version, the carton has a width or a diameter of between 70 and 80 mm, for example equal to 75 mm. The height of the carton then depends on the desired volume of cleaning fluid.

Preferably, the following information is indicated on the pocket of the carton: the model(s) of cleaning device according to the invention with which the carton can be used, the area that the carton can be cleaned with used with the device according to the invention , at least one property of the liquid contained in the pocket and/or the nature or at least one element of composition of said liquid, one or more types of floor covering for which said liquid is suitable.

There figure 1 integrally shows a cleaning device according to the invention, which device comprises:
  • a handle 1,
  • a perforation chamber 2 adapted to receive a carton 3 of cleaning liquid,
  • a cleaning head 4, provided with a fringe 5,
  • a pipe 6 for the flow of the cleaning liquid from the perforation chamber 2 to the cleaning head 4 for the purpose of impregnating the mop 5, which pipe comprises a primary pipe 7 which leaves from the perforation chamber 2 and runs along the handle 1 to a point 8 located close to the lower end of the handle.

Downstream (below) the primary pipe 7, two main embodiments are provided. Up to the lower end 8 of the primary pipe, these two main embodiments are similar.

5.According to the first embodiment, which is illustrated in the figures 2 to 4 , the cleaning head comprises an extruded die 9 (see fig. 3 ) comprising an upper wall 10 and a lower wall 11 which delimit a diffusion volume 12. This diffusion volume 12 is sized to receive all of the cleaning liquid contained in the carton 3 which is inserted into the perforation chamber 2. The wall lower 11 forms the plate on which the user can fix a fringe. 5.

Below the lower end 8 of the primary pipe, the primary pipe 7 is extended by a single flexible secondary pipe 70 (see fig. 2 ) which deviates from the handle in a transverse median plane of the cleaning head and is connected to an opening 71 (single) formed in the upper wall 10 of the cleaning head, in the transverse median plane of the latter. The cleaning liquid released from the carton 3 during the installation of the latter in the perforation chamber therefore flows through the flow conduit 6 (via the primary pipe 7 and the secondary pipe 70) from the perforation chamber 2 to spray volume 12 of the cleaning head.

The bottom wall 11 of the cleaning head has holes 13 (see fig. 3 and 4 ) regularly distributed over the entire surface of the lower wall for the evacuation of the cleaning liquid out of the diffusion volume 12 towards the fringe (not shown in fig. 3 and 4 ). In the example shown, the bottom wall 11 of the cleaning head has ten holes 13. The number of holes depends on the density and viscosity of the cleaning liquid. It is possible to offer several models of head or cleaning device, each model corresponding to a range of cleaning liquids (corresponding to a range of densities or viscosities).

These slides are designed to receive fastening strips 16 with hooks of the Velcro® type. The fringe 5 then has, on its upper face, attachment surfaces with loops of the Velcro® type complementary to the attachment strips 16. Any other attachment system between the fringe and the lower wall of the cleaning head is in accordance with the invention. As can be seen on the figure 4 , if cleaning liquid evacuation holes are provided at the level of the slides 14 and 15 of the lower wall 11, similar holes are also made in the fixing strips 16 facing the holes of the lower wall 11.

The connection 17 between the handle 1 and the upper wall 10 of the cleaning head is a connection of the ball joint type or of the universal joint type allowing the cleaning head to pivot by at least 90° relative to the handle around the axis of the handle and also allowing the lower end of the handle to pivot about the median longitudinal axis and the median transverse axis of the upper wall of the cleaning head. These types of connection are known to those skilled in the art.

According to the second embodiment, which is illustrated in the figure 1 And 5 , the cleaning head comprises a plate 19 which acts both as an upper wall for connecting the cleaning head to the handle 1 and as a lower wall for receiving the mop 5. The primary pipe 7 is extended by two pipes of distribution 80 which deviate from each other and from the handle 1 in a median longitudinal plane of the cleaning head to emerge into two holes 23 made in the plate 19. The cleaning liquid which is released when the carton is installed in the perforation chamber 2 therefore impregnates the fringe at the outlet of the two holes 23; it then diffuses into the fringe itself in order to wet it completely.

As in the first embodiment, the underside of the plate 19 may optionally include two side slides for receiving hook fastening strips. However, unlike the fixing strips shown on the figure 4 , the fixing strips used with the second embodiment have no holes for the evacuation of the cleaning liquid since the holes 23 are made on the median longitudinal axis of the plate 19, outside the slides for receiving the strips of fixation.

There figure 6 shows the perforation chamber 2 of a cleaning device according to the invention, the example illustrated being compatible with the two embodiments previously described. The illustrated perforation chamber has a cylindrical wall 30, a bottom 31 and a lid 32. The bottom 31 is pierced with a mouth 33 for the outlet of the cleaning liquid, to which is connected the upper end of the primary pipe 7 of the duct. flow. For example, this outlet has a diameter of 16mm. The perforation chamber 2 incorporates a knife 34 which can be observed in more detail on the figure 8 . In the example illustrated, the knife 34 has a polygonal shape with an upper vertex 37 and two upper sides 35, 36 sharpened, a lower side 38 fixed to the bottom 31 of the perforation chamber, two opposite vertical sides 39, 40 form which follow the cylinder wall 30 of the chamber and an inclined lower side 41, which allows the cleaning liquid to flow under the knife towards the exit mouth 33. A notch 42 is made in each of the two vertical sides to receive a corresponding boss (not shown) provided in the cylindrical wall 30 in order to retain the knife at the bottom of the perforation chamber.

In the example of perforation chamber illustrated, the cylindrical wall 30 of the perforation chamber has a portion 30a having a cross section in the shape of an arc of a circle and a flat portion 30b.

Due to its manufacturing process, the pocket of the berlingot 3 has welded flat rectilinear lower and upper edges, delimited by "earpieces" (see fig. 1 ). Between these flat rectilinear edges, once filled with liquid, the pouch has a domed body, the section of which at mid-height of the pouch is substantially circular. Preferably, the lower edge and/or the flat upper edge of the carton (or of the pocket) have a width equal to the internal diameter of the perforation chamber, that is to say 75 mm in the example illustrated. At mid-height, the diameter of the pocket is of the order of 50 to 55 mm.

At the rear of the flat portion 30b (outside the volume for receiving the carton) there are elements for fixing the perforation chamber to the handle 1. These elements comprise a flexible half-ring 43 which can extend over the entire height of the perforation chamber and whose internal diameter is slightly less than the external diameter of the handle 1 so that the handle can be fitted by force in the half-ring. The fixing elements also comprise one or more lugs 44 intended to be inserted into corresponding holes provided in the handle, which lugs prevent both the perforation chamber from pivoting around the handle and from sliding axially relatively in the handle.

There figure 9 more specifically shows a protective casing 45 which can be placed around the perforation chamber 2, the handle 1 and the primary pipe 7. This casing protects the primary pipe 7 and its connection to the perforation chamber, and ensures a nice finish aesthetics of the cleaning device according to the invention.

À noter que le manche 1 peut être télescopique afin de pouvoir en régler la longueur au-dessus de la chambre de perforation 2 (la distance entre la chambre de perforation et l'extrémité inférieure du manche restant fixe).Note that the handle 1 can be telescopic in order to be able to adjust its length above the perforation chamber 2 (the distance between the perforation chamber and the lower end of the handle remaining fixed).

The invention extends to any variant accessible to a person skilled in the art, that is to say falling within the scope delimited by the appended claims.

For example, the device may take the form of a dampener for washing windows, in which case the handle of the device is reduced in size to form only a sort of handle. In addition, in such a wetting device, the flow conduit advantageously comprises a member preventing the flow of the cleaning liquid in the opposite direction, that is to say from the fringe towards the perforation chamber so that the cleaning head of the moistener can be oriented upwards without the risk of the user getting wet. In addition, the cleaning head can incorporate a squeegee parallel to the fringe in order to clean and dry the glass in a single pass.

In the case of a device for cleaning windows, the advantage of the invention remains intact: the user no longer has to carry heavy buckets of water or put his hands in the cleaning liquid; the dose of product used is controlled, etc.
