- Locking device of padlock type, comprising a body (2) and a shackle (3) mounted movably with respect to translation and rotation relative to said body (2), in which said body (2) is provided with an aperture (7) and a bore (11) formed within said aperture (7), said shackle (3) comprises a thinned end portion (16) mounted in said aperture (7) of said body (2), and said device (1) further comprises a mounting member (4) mechanically connected to said thinned end portion (16) of said shackle (3) and accommodated in said bore (11), said mounting member (4) being configured to enable the rotation of said shackle (3) relative to said body (2) and also the translation of said shackle (3) in said aperture (7) of said body (2), between a first position in which said device (1) is in an open state and a second position in which said device (1) is in a closed state, and said mounting member (4) forms a stop on said thinned end portion (16) of said shackle (3); said mounting member (4) has a predetermined height and said bore (11) has a height at least equal to or greater than the predetermined height of said mounting member; said device is configured such that said mounting member (4) is translated with said thinned end portion (16) of said shackle (3) within said aperture (7) and said bore (11) of said body (2), between said first and second positions; and said thinned end portion (16) of said shackle (3) has a length approximately equal to said predetermined height of said mounting member (4), and said bore (11) has a height considerably greater than said length of said thinned end portion.
- Device according to claim 1, characterized in that said height of said bore (11) defines a travel of said shackle between its first and second positions.
- Locking device of padlock type, comprising a body (2) and a shackle (3) mounted movably with respect to translation and rotation relative to said body (2), in which said body (2) is provided with an aperture (7) and a bore (11) formed within said aperture (7), said shackle (3) comprises a thinned end portion (16) mounted in said aperture (7) of said body (2), and said device (1) further comprises a mounting member (4) mechanically connected to said thinned end portion (16) of said shackle (3) and accommodated in said bore (11), said mounting member (4) being configured to enable the rotation of said shackle (3) relative to said body (2) and also the translation of said shackle (3) in said aperture (7) of said body (2), between a first position in which said device (1) is in an open state and a second position in which said device (1) is in a closed state, and said mounting member (4) forms a stop on said thinned end portion (16) of said shackle (3); said mounting member (4) has a predetermined height and said bore (11) has a height at least equal to or greater than the predetermined height of said mounting member; and said device is configured such that said thinned end portion (16) of said shackle (3) is translated relative to said mounting member (4), between said first and second positions.
- Device according to claim 3, characterized in that said thinned end portion (16) of said shackle (3) has a length considerably greater than said predetermined height of said mounting member (4), and said bore (11) has a height considerably less than said length of said thinned end portion for example approximately equal to said predetermined height of said mounting member.
- Device according to claim 4, characterized in that said length of said thinned end portion (16) defines a travel of said shackle between its first and second positions.
- Device according to any one of claims 1 to 5, characterized in that said mounting member (4) is a ring mounted at least partly around said thinned end portion (16) of said shackle (3).
- Device according to claim 6, characterized in that said ring is split and fitted over said thinned end portion (16) of said shackle (3).
- Device according to claim 7, characterized in that said ring is metallic or formed from plastic material.
- Device according to any one of claims 1 to 8, characterized in that said thinned end portion (16) of said shackle (3) is located between an end flange (17) of said shackle which is inserted into said aperture (7) of said body (2), and a U-shaped main portion (14) of said shackle which projects from said body.
- Device according to any one of claims 1 to 9, characterized in that it further comprises a return member (5) accommodated in said aperture (7) of said body (2) and configured to apply a force on said thinned end portion (16) of said shackle (3) to translate it from its second position to its first position.
- Device according to any one of claims 1 to 10, characterized in that it further comprises a hole (8) made in said body (2) and configured to receive a locking portion (15) for locking said shackle (3) in said body, said locking portion being located at a remote opposite location from said thinned end portion (16) of said shackle.
- Method of assembling a locking device (1), of padlock type, according to any one of claims 1 to 11, comprising the steps of:- mechanically securing the mounting member (4) of said device on the thinned end portion (16) of the shackle (3) of said device,- mounting said thinned end portion of said shackle with said mounting member in the aperture (7) of the body (2) of said device, to attain housing of said mounting member in a bore (11) made within said aperture; whereby said mounting member is configured to enable the rotation of said shackle relative to said body and also the translation of said shackle in said aperture of said body, between a first position in which said device is in an open state and a second position in which said device is in a closed state, and said mounting member forms a stop on said thinned end portion of said shackle.
