Abstract
Description
- The present invention relates to a cooler appliance having a cooling apparatus.
- In order to cool the containers containing hot food products recently removed from a cooking appliance such as a cooking range, oven or another cooker, users tend to keep them temporarily in room conditions. Such a cooling process takes a long time and bacteria grows on the food products which are open to external elements. In order to avoid this drawback and to enable a more rapid cooling, users usually place the containers containing hot food products directly in cooler appliances. However, since cooling in a cooler appliance is enabled by way of convection, the time required to cool the containers containing hot food products is likewise long and therefore bacteria may develop on food products. This may lead to conditions hazardous to users' health.
- There is an application in the state of the art, in which rapid cooling is performed in an internal volume isolated from the inner volume of a cooler appliance.
- State of the art Korean patent document no. KR101821097 discloses a cooler appliance having a chamber hermetically sealed from a cooler compartment.
- The aim of the present invention is to realize rapid cooling of the food products placed in a cooler appliance without allowing bacteria growth.
- The cooler appliance realized to achieve the aim of the invention and disclosed in the first claim and the dependent claims, comprises a body, and at least one compartment provided in the body. An evaporator provided behind the rear wall of the body, cools the air circulating in the body, thereby reducing the compartment temperature. At least one shelf is provided in the compartment, on which are placed the food products and containers to be cooled. A cooling apparatus is placed on the shelf. The containers containing the food products are placed on the shelf so as to rest on the cooling apparatus. An end of the cooling apparatus is positioned proximate to the evaporator or in contact with the evaporator. The containers contacting the cooling apparatus heat the cooling apparatus by way of conduction and this thermal energy is transmitted to the evaporator. Consequently, the containers containing the food products are cooled rapidly. Rapid cooling enables inhibiting bacteria growth on the food products and provides food safety.
- In an embodiment of the invention, the cooling apparatus comprises bars forming a grill-shaped structure by extending parallel to each other. The grill-shaped structure enables increasing the contact surface area between the cooling apparatus and the containers containing the food products. Rapid cooling is thus provided without allowing bacteria growth.
- In another embodiment of the invention, the cooling apparatus is plate-shaped. The plate-shaped structure may cover the entire surface of the shelf in accordance with users' needs or may be produced so as to partially cover the shelf surface and in a structure adapted to cool relatively smaller containers. There may be a plurality of cooling apparatuses which may be detachably attached according to the ground surface of the containers containing the food products to be cooled, and ease of use is thus provided for the users.
- In another embodiment of the invention, the vertical cross-sectional thickness of the cooling apparatus increases in evaporator direction. The cooling apparatus with a thickness increasing in the direction of the rear wall of the compartment, enables enhancing the heat retention capacity and the capacity of heat transmission to the evaporator. As a result, rapid cooling is provided and bacteria growth is inhibited.
- In another embodiment of the invention, the cooling apparatus is detachably placed on the shelf. A user may remove the cooling apparatus from the shelf when he/she does not need to use rapid cooling, thereby increasing the available volume.
- In another embodiment of the invention, the slot which forms when the cooling apparatus is removed from the shelf, whose depth increases in evaporator direction, acts as an inclined surface to place bottles and cylindrical items therein.
- In another embodiment of the invention, the cooling apparatus is placed on the shelf so as to be flush with the shelf surface. The food products to be cooled placed on the shelf are thus enabled to rest on a flat surface.
- In another embodiment of the invention, the cooling apparatus comprises a heat transfer surface. The heat transfer surface is placed proximate to the evaporator or in contact with the evaporator. The heat transfer surface enables enlarging the surface to which heat is transferred and accelerates heat transfer between the cooling apparatus and the evaporator. By this, a rapid cooling is provided without allowing bacteria growth in the containers placed on the cooling apparatus and containing the food products to be cooled.
- In another embodiment of the invention, the cooling apparatus and the heat transfer surface form almost a right angle with each other. The heat transfer surface is placed in the cooling duct between the evaporator and the cooling apparatus, proximate to the evaporator or so as to be in contact with the evaporator. The heat transfer surface extends parallel to the cooling duct thanks to forming almost a right angle with the cooling apparatus, and its heat transfer capacity is increased by means of the cold air current passing over it. Rapid cooling is thus provided by the cooling apparatus, inhibiting bacteria growth.
- In another embodiment of the invention, the cooling apparatus extends almost parallel to the evaporator. This enables increasing heat transfer with the evaporator. Consequently, the cooling apparatus cools rapidly, avoiding bacteria growth.
- The invention enables rapidly cooling the containers containing food products with high temperatures, which are removed from ovens, cooking ranges and similar cookers and placed directly in cooler appliances, and enables averting bacteria growth therein likely to threaten user health.
