- the second opening(s) ensure that more premix gas will be available at the cylindrical perforated plate at the position of the ionization pen. It has further been observed that the inventive burner produces less carbon monoxide (CO) at full burner load compared to gas premix burners in which the porosity of the burner deck and/or the gas permeable area of the burner deck have been enlarged locally at the position of the ionization pen to facilitate ionization current measurement. Furthermore, the burner according to the invention has a longer lifetime compared to gas premix burners in which the porosity of the burner deck and/or the gas permeable area of the burner deck have been enlarged locally at the position of the ionization pen to facilitate ionization current measurement.
