Definitions
- the invention relates to an adapter device designed for a fixed arrangement on a suction opening of a gas blower and designed for the supply of fuel gas and air to the gas blower.
- Generic adapter devices are already known in the art. These serve as a mixing device for fuel gas and air and are attached to the suction opening of the gas blower.
- the fuel gas feed is fixed to the housing of the mixing device.
- the mixing devices currently used are assembled from several individual parts comprising a housing and pipe inserts, an annular gap being provided in the mixing device between the flow path for the air and the flow path for the fuel gas, so that the fuel gas and the air mix in the mixing device and together be fed to the gas blower. Due to the multi-part structure with pipe inserts to design the flow paths for the air and the fuel gas, seals must always be used to ensure that the fuel gas flows exclusively in the predetermined gas flow path.
- the invention is therefore based on the object of providing an adapter device which can dispense with sealing the flow paths between the fuel gas and air by means of additional seals and the number of parts for connection to a gas fan is reduced.
- an adapter device designed to be attached to a suction opening of a gas blower and designed for the supply of fuel gas and air to the gas blower
- an outer housing and one extending from the outer housing in one piece in the axial direction through the outer housing to an outlet of the adapter device Includes pipe section.
- the pipe section and the outer housing define two separate coaxial flow channels through the adapter device, the coaxial flow channels being brought together in the region of the outlet of the adapter device.
- One of the flow channels has an air inlet, the other of the flow channels has a fuel gas inlet.
- the pipe section in the area of the outlet of the adapter device protrudes over an axial end edge of the outer housing in the axial flow direction in order to protrude into the suction opening of the gas blower when the adapter device is mounted on the gas blower.
- the adapter device can be mounted more quickly on the gas blower.
- the solution according to the invention that the mixture of fuel gas and air does not have to be carried out inside the adapter device, rather the pipe section separating the coaxial flow channels is lengthened in the direction of flow so that it protrudes over the axial end edge of the outer housing and thus the mixture of fuel gas and air at the intake opening.
- the number of parts of the pipe inserts for creating the annular gap is thus also reduced. Furthermore, this solution reduces the pressure loss and consequently increases the throughput and the heat output that can be achieved as a result of a heater connected to the gas fan.
- a preferred embodiment provides that the adapter device is designed in one piece as a whole.
- production from plastic by injection molding is suitable, in which the outer housing and the pipe section are designed without undercuts.
- Another preferred embodiment provides aluminum materials which can be mapped, for example, using manufacturing processes based on the die-casting concept.
- the pipe section defines the air inlet and the outer housing defines the fuel gas inlet, so that the flow channel running inside the pipe section is designed for air to flow through and the flow channel running coaxially between the outer housing and the tube section for fuel gas to flow through .
- the fuel gas inlet is preferably arranged on an outer jacket surface of the outer housing and forms a connection pipe in one piece on the outer housing for fastening the fuel gas connection.
- the tube section extends uninterruptedly from the air inlet to the outlet of the adapter device.
- the pipe section is preferably designed to be rotationally symmetrical and guides the suctioned Air over the entire axial flow length through the adapter device from the air inlet to the outlet. There is no fuel gas supply into the flow channel of the air flow within the adapter device. Mixing only takes place after the air emerges from the pipe section at the outlet.
- a further development of the adapter device is characterized in that the pipe section tapering from the air inlet to the outlet so that an axial flow cross-sectional area of the flow channel located within the pipe section is reduced towards the outlet. It is further preferred that the flow cross-sectional area of the pipe section steadily decreases in the axial flow path from the air inlet to the outlet and is smallest at the outlet. The air that is sucked in and flowing through the pipe section is thus accelerated by the adapter device and generates a negative pressure at the outlet which can be used to suck the fuel gas out of the flow channel for the fuel gas that coaxially surrounds the pipe section.
- the fuel gas is drawn in indirectly via the negative pressure described and also directly by the gas blower.
- the negative pressure can be determined via the flow cross-sectional area of the pipe section at the outlet.
- the outer housing has an inner diameter that increases towards the outlet, seen in the axial flow direction, so that an axial flow cross-sectional area of the flow channel for the fuel gas between the pipe section and the outer housing increases towards the outlet.
- the flow cross-sectional area of the flow channel for the fuel gas located between the pipe section and the outer housing increases steadily towards the outlet.
- the outer housing and the pipe section diverge in the radial direction along their axial flow direction.
- the adapter device is mounted on the gas blower.
- a preferred embodiment of the adapter device therefore provides that fastening means for fastening it to the gas fan are provided on the axial end edge of the outer housing.
- a flange can also be formed on the axial end edge via which the adapter device is screwed to the gas blower.
- the fastening means cooperating in each case on the gas blower and the adapter device are arranged in the circumferential direction relative to one another in such a way that the adapter device can be mounted on the gas blower in various rotational positions.
- the gas connection can thus be aligned in different circumferential directions and the adapter device is suitable for different installation positions.
- a further development of the adapter device is also characterized in that an opening is provided on an outer jacket surface of the outer housing, which creates a pressure connection to the flow channel between the outer housing and the pipe section.
- a pin projecting from the outer jacket surface of the outer housing is preferably formed at the opening, onto which, for example, a hose can be plugged for taking pressure off and checking the pressure in the flow channel of the fuel gas.
- the invention further comprises a gas blower with a blower housing, a motor and a blower wheel, wherein the blower housing has an intake opening and an exhaust opening and the adapter device described above can be attached to the intake opening with the outer housing in such a way that the pipe section protrudes into the intake opening of the gas blower.
- the fuel gas is combined with the air in the area of the intake opening of the gas blower, so that the components determining the intake opening of the gas blower are also used to design a nozzle that forms an inlet gap for the fuel gas.
- an inlet nozzle is additionally provided on the suction opening itself, which together with an outer jacket surface of the pipe section forms the inflow gap for the fuel gas in the area of the suction opening.
- the inlet nozzle reduces the cross-sectional area through which the flow can flow in the area of the suction opening.
- the adapter device is fastened with its axial end edge of the outer housing to the gas blower or the inlet nozzle of the gas blower so that the protruding pipe section and the inlet nozzle run in an axial plane. The mixture of fuel gas and sucked air takes place when entering the suction opening.
- the gas blower is further characterized in that a carrier plate is attached to the adapter device to hold at least one gas valve securely so that the at least one gas valve can be fixed to the adapter device and thus to the gas blower via the carrier plate.
- a carrier plate is attached to the adapter device to hold at least one gas valve securely so that the at least one gas valve can be fixed to the adapter device and thus to the gas blower via the carrier plate.
- the Figures 1-3 show an embodiment of the one-piece adapter device 1 with the outer housing 2, which has the axial air inlet 8 and the radial fuel gas inlet 9 by means of the connector 3.
- the two media air and fuel gas flow through the continuous, uninterrupted pipe section 4 in the coaxial flow channels 6, 7, separated by the entire adapter device 1, before they are brought together in the area of the outlet 5 of the adapter device 1.
- the flow channel 7 for the fuel gas is shorter and ends at the axial end edge 10 of the outer housing, which is formed by the flange plate 19.
- the flow of fuel gas and air are brought together in the area of the suction opening, ie at the outlet of the adapter device 1.
- the pipe section 4 of the area of the air inlet 8 to the outlet 5 of the adapter device 1 is designed to taper conically, so that the axial flow cross-sectional area of the flow channel 6 lying within the pipe section 4 decreases towards the outlet 5.

Description
The invention relates to an adapter device designed for a fixed arrangement on a suction opening of a gas blower and designed for the supply of fuel gas and air to the gas blower.
Generic adapter devices are already known in the art. These serve as a mixing device for fuel gas and air and are attached to the suction opening of the gas blower. The fuel gas feed is fixed to the housing of the mixing device. The mixing devices currently used are assembled from several individual parts comprising a housing and pipe inserts, an annular gap being provided in the mixing device between the flow path for the air and the flow path for the fuel gas, so that the fuel gas and the air mix in the mixing device and together be fed to the gas blower. Due to the multi-part structure with pipe inserts to design the flow paths for the air and the fuel gas, seals must always be used to ensure that the fuel gas flows exclusively in the predetermined gas flow path.
The invention is therefore based on the object of providing an adapter device which can dispense with sealing the flow paths between the fuel gas and air by means of additional seals and the number of parts for connection to a gas fan is reduced.
This object is achieved by the combination of features according to
According to the invention, an adapter device designed to be attached to a suction opening of a gas blower and designed for the supply of fuel gas and air to the gas blower is proposed, which an outer housing and one extending from the outer housing in one piece in the axial direction through the outer housing to an outlet of the adapter device Includes pipe section. The pipe section and the outer housing define two separate coaxial flow channels through the adapter device, the coaxial flow channels being brought together in the region of the outlet of the adapter device. One of the flow channels has an air inlet, the other of the flow channels has a fuel gas inlet. The pipe section in the area of the outlet of the adapter device protrudes over an axial end edge of the outer housing in the axial flow direction in order to protrude into the suction opening of the gas blower when the adapter device is mounted on the gas blower.
Due to the one-piece connection and design of the outer housing with the pipe section, a seal between the two components is obsolete both in the area of the inlet of air and fuel gas and in the area of the outlet of the adapter device. In addition to reducing the number of parts, it is also advantageous that incorrect assembly of otherwise required seals is excluded are. In addition, the adapter device can be mounted more quickly on the gas blower. At the same time, it can be achieved with the solution according to the invention that the mixture of fuel gas and air does not have to be carried out inside the adapter device, rather the pipe section separating the coaxial flow channels is lengthened in the direction of flow so that it protrudes over the axial end edge of the outer housing and thus the mixture of fuel gas and air at the intake opening. The number of parts of the pipe inserts for creating the annular gap is thus also reduced. Furthermore, this solution reduces the pressure loss and consequently increases the throughput and the heat output that can be achieved as a result of a heater connected to the gas fan.
A preferred embodiment provides that the adapter device is designed in one piece as a whole. In particular, production from plastic by injection molding is suitable, in which the outer housing and the pipe section are designed without undercuts. Another preferred embodiment provides aluminum materials which can be mapped, for example, using manufacturing processes based on the die-casting concept.
In a variant of the adapter device, it is also provided that the pipe section defines the air inlet and the outer housing defines the fuel gas inlet, so that the flow channel running inside the pipe section is designed for air to flow through and the flow channel running coaxially between the outer housing and the tube section for fuel gas to flow through . The fuel gas inlet is preferably arranged on an outer jacket surface of the outer housing and forms a connection pipe in one piece on the outer housing for fastening the fuel gas connection.
In a favorable embodiment, the tube section extends uninterruptedly from the air inlet to the outlet of the adapter device. The pipe section is preferably designed to be rotationally symmetrical and guides the suctioned Air over the entire axial flow length through the adapter device from the air inlet to the outlet. There is no fuel gas supply into the flow channel of the air flow within the adapter device. Mixing only takes place after the air emerges from the pipe section at the outlet.
A further development of the adapter device is characterized in that the pipe section tapering from the air inlet to the outlet so that an axial flow cross-sectional area of the flow channel located within the pipe section is reduced towards the outlet. Since the outlet of the adapter device rests against the suction opening of the gas blower, the fuel gas is drawn in indirectly via the negative pressure described and also directly by the gas blower. The negative pressure can be determined via the flow cross-sectional area of the pipe section at the outlet.
In a further embodiment of the adapter device, the outer housing has an inner diameter that increases towards the outlet, seen in the axial flow direction, so that an axial flow cross-sectional area of the flow channel for the fuel gas between the pipe section and the outer housing increases towards the outlet. In this case, it is particularly advantageous if the flow cross-sectional area of the flow channel for the fuel gas located between the pipe section and the outer housing increases steadily towards the outlet. As far as the pipe section at the same time in the flow cross-section to the outlet is reduced in size, the outer housing and the pipe section diverge in the radial direction along their axial flow direction.
The adapter device is mounted on the gas blower. A preferred embodiment of the adapter device therefore provides that fastening means for fastening it to the gas fan are provided on the axial end edge of the outer housing. In particular, a flange can also be formed on the axial end edge via which the adapter device is screwed to the gas blower. The fastening means cooperating in each case on the gas blower and the adapter device are arranged in the circumferential direction relative to one another in such a way that the adapter device can be mounted on the gas blower in various rotational positions. The gas connection can thus be aligned in different circumferential directions and the adapter device is suitable for different installation positions.
A further development of the adapter device is also characterized in that an opening is provided on an outer jacket surface of the outer housing, which creates a pressure connection to the flow channel between the outer housing and the pipe section. A pin projecting from the outer jacket surface of the outer housing is preferably formed at the opening, onto which, for example, a hose can be plugged for taking pressure off and checking the pressure in the flow channel of the fuel gas.
The invention further comprises a gas blower with a blower housing, a motor and a blower wheel, wherein the blower housing has an intake opening and an exhaust opening and the adapter device described above can be attached to the intake opening with the outer housing in such a way that the pipe section protrudes into the intake opening of the gas blower. The fuel gas is combined with the air in the area of the intake opening of the gas blower, so that the components determining the intake opening of the gas blower are also used to design a nozzle that forms an inlet gap for the fuel gas. A further education provides here that an inlet nozzle is additionally provided on the suction opening itself, which together with an outer jacket surface of the pipe section forms the inflow gap for the fuel gas in the area of the suction opening. The inlet nozzle reduces the cross-sectional area through which the flow can flow in the area of the suction opening. The adapter device is fastened with its axial end edge of the outer housing to the gas blower or the inlet nozzle of the gas blower so that the protruding pipe section and the inlet nozzle run in an axial plane. The mixture of fuel gas and sucked air takes place when entering the suction opening.
The gas blower is further characterized in that a carrier plate is attached to the adapter device to hold at least one gas valve securely so that the at least one gas valve can be fixed to the adapter device and thus to the gas blower via the carrier plate. This embodiment ensures that the gas blower with the adapter device and the gas valve or the gas valves can be installed and distributed as a structural unit.
