  • SCR dosing unit for conveying and providing a liquid exhaust gas cleaning additive
  • the invention relates to an SCR dosing unit for conveying and providing a liquid exhaust gas purification additive.
  • an SCR dosing unit can be used, for example, in a motor vehicle to promote an exhaust gas purification additive to the exhaust gas treatment device of the motor vehicle.
  • This can be, for example, an exhaust gas treatment device which is used for purifying the exhaust gases of a diesel internal combustion engine of the motor vehicle and in which the method of selective catalytic reduction (SCR) is used.
  • the exhaust gases of diesel internal combustion engines often have a high proportion of nitrogen oxide compounds, which can be reduced by the SCR process with the aid of an exhaust gas cleaning additive.
  • Urea-water solution is regularly used as the emission control additive.
  • Urea-water solution with a urea content of 32.5% is available for emission control under the trade name AdBlue®.
  • Urea-water solution is removed from the exhaust gases or converted into ammonia inside the exhaust gas.
  • the nitrogen oxide compounds in the exhaust gas in the exhaust gas treatment device then react in the SCR process to harmless substances, in particular water, nitrogen and CO2.

  • an SCR metering unit is required that removes the exhaust gas purification additive from the tank and delivers it to the exhaust treatment device.
  • the over- Licher used exhaust gas cleaning additives can freeze at low temperatures. On freezing, on the one hand, there is a volume expansion that can damage the tank, the SCR dosing unit and other components. In addition, a promotion is not possible if the exhaust gas cleaning additive is frozen.
  • PTC heating elements A type of heaters used particularly frequently in SCR metering units are so-called PTC heating elements.
  • PTC have the property of being self-regulating around a certain temperature. This means that automatically sets a certain heating temperature in the operation of such PTC heating elements.
  • PTC heating elements are made of special materials that have a temperature-dependent electrical resistance, which generates the described dependence of the heating power on the temperature.
  • PTC heating elements are relatively expensive. In addition, it is difficult to heat large areas with PTC heating elements. It is therefore known to use heat distribution structures in order to effectively dissipate the heat generated by PTC heating elements from the PTC heating elements and to distribute them over larger areas. Only then can an effective fusion of larger quantities of frozen liquid exhaust gas cleaning additive in a tank be guaranteed.
  • Heat distribution structures are usually formed of metals with good thermal conductivity, for example of aluminum. Heat distribution structures and PTC heating elements are not permanently stable in the exhaust gas cleaning additive on a regular basis. It occurs very quickly corrosion, when PTC heating elements and heat distribution structures are exposed to liquid exhaust gas cleaning additive. To avoid this, therefore, sufficient protection must be provided.
  • SCR dosing units Another problem with SCR dosing units is that manufacturing costs are a very critical factor.
  • a tank for an exhaust gas purifying additive and SCR dosing unit must be provided in a motor vehicle in addition to the tank and the fuel delivery unit. Therefore, highly integrated, compact and high performance SCR dosing units are regularly desired at low cost.
