Description
- Invention refers to performing operations and transporting, namely to winches, in particular forestry winches, which are intended for transmission of power from a suitable driving means towards a winding drum, wherein the invention also refers to hydraulic appliances for controlling such winch. According to the International patent classification such inventions belong to the class B 66
D 1/14 or to the class B 66D 1/44. - The invention is based on a problem, how to create a hydraulic assembly for controlling a brake and clutch in a forestry winch, by means alternatively operation of said brake and clutch of a winding drum could be realized in such manner, that such assembly would be compact and should require minimal disposable space, it should be able to withstand all forces, which occur in various directions by towing of heavy loads like timbers, and moreover, such assembly should be comfortably accessible due to maintenance and repair.
- In forestry winches a winding drum is together with a belonging shaft embedded within a winch framework and is intended for winding and storage of each towing cable. Said winding drum is freely rotatable mounted on said shaft and is furnished with a brake, which is located on its circumferential surface, as well as with a clutch, a friction disc of which is placed on the one of its front surfaces, wherein the friction counter-surface is located on a chain wheel of the chain transmission, the driving chain wheel of which is connected with a cardan shaft of a tractor, to which the forestry winch is coupled during its use. Said brake and clutch are alternatively activated, which means that by deactivation of said brake the clutch is activated in order to transmit the torque towards the winding drum, which is then rotated for the purpose of coiling the towing cable thereon. By deactivation of said clutch said rotation of the winding drum is terminated, and at the same time the brake is activated, by which the winding drum is unable to rotate until the clutch is activated again. Such assembly for coordination of operation of said brake and clutch is disclosed in
SI 22295 A claim 1. - In said prior art controlling assembly a shaft is mounted within a winch framework, and a chain wheel is mounted thereon, which is freely rotatable relatively to the shaft, but is immovable in the axial direction of the shaft, and is driven by means of each disposable driving means on a tractor. The first friction disc is located on said chain wheel, and a winding drum is mounted on said shaft adjacent to said chain wheel, which is also freely rotatable, but is displaceable along said shaft against the force of a spring or by means of said force. On that front side of the winding drum, which is faced towards said chain wheel, another friction disc is available, so that by activation of the clutch said friction discs are set in contact with each other and the drum is forced to rotate together with the chain wheel, while by deactivation of the clutch thanks to said spring said friction discs are automatically spaced apart from each other. Moreover, such assembly further comprises coaxial units, which are inserted in each other and sealed, namely an internal unit and an external unit, and a suitable cavity is available between said units, into which a hydraulic media is supplied, by means of which said unit are displaceable relatively to each other, wherein the immovable internal unit is rest on the framework or at least on a part thereof, and the external unit of the assembly, which is movable thanks to said hydraulic media and against to said force of the spring or due to said force, is either directly or indirectly pressed against the winding drum. The external unit can be pressed towards the winding drum either by means of a spacer, or more preferred my means of a spacer and an axial bearing, which is placed between said spacer and the winding drum. Although such assembly is generally functioning, it is pretty sensible to axial forces, which may occur in particular of heavy loads under an essential angle, which essentially differs from the optimal direction of winding each towing cable onto the winding drum. In addition to that, the clutch is located adjacent to the chain wheel and therefore deeply inside the casing of the forestry winch, so that also accessibility of vital components like a multi-plate clutch and components of the belonging hydraulic components is essentially hindered.
- A further assembly is disclosed in
SI 21184 A - Still other winches can be found in the prior art, which are disclosed e.g. in
US 3 107 899 A ,CA 897 677 A and inUS 2 263 064 A . - The present invention refers to a forestry winch and a hydraulic assembly for controlling a winding drum by means of a brake and clutch in a forestry winch, wherein such assembly comprises a shaft, which is embedded within a casing of said winch and on which an essentially cylindrical winding drum is mounted, which is suitable for coiling and decoiling of each towing cable and is freely rotatable but also immovable in the axial direction of said shaft.
- Said winding drum is on its first front side furnished with a brake disc with a smooth cylindrical friction surface, which is suitable for cooperation with a belt of each corresponding belt brake. On the opposite front side of said winding drum a chain wheel is mounted on said shaft also immovably in the axial direction of said shaft and is via a lamellar chain driven by means of a driving chain wheel, which is mounted in appropriate area within said casing of the winch and is driven by means of a cardan shaft, by which the forestry winch may be coupled with the engine of a tractor, to which the forestry winch is coupled during the use in such a manner that its casing is attachable to the tractor by means of a common three-point coupling mechanism. A multiple-plate clutch is mounted on said shaft, so that its friction discs are by means of a hydraulically controlled displacing assembly displaceable along the shaft and are adapted to be pressed against said winding drum, so that upon activation of the clutch and deactivation of the brake the torque is transmitted from said chain wheel onto the winding drum, while upon deactivation of the clutch and activation of the brake despite to continued rotation of said chain wheel transmission of the torque onto said winding drum is interrupted.
- Such controlling assembly according to the invention is characterized in that said clutch together with its friction discs is located on the same side of the winding drum as the brake disc, and said friction discs of the clutch are by means of a hydraulic displacing assembly displaceable in a direction along the shaft, namely towards front said side of the winding drum.
- According to the invention said hydraulic displacing assembly is embedded within a bearing assembly, which is foreseen for bearing of said shaft within the casing of the forestry winch, so that a casing of bearings of the shaft on the side of brake and clutch represents a stationary unit of said displacing assembly, along which a movable unit of said displacing assembly is by means of pressure of the hydraulic media displaceable in said axial direction towards said friction discs of the clutch.
- An embodiment of the assembly according to the invention will be explained on the basis of the attached drawing (
Fig. 1 ), in which the hydraulic assembly is presented in its longitudinal cross-section in its diametrical plane and in its mounted state. - Hydraulic assembly for controlling a winding
drum 2 by means of a brake andclutch 5 in a forestry winch comprises ashaft 1, which is embedded within acasing 1 of said winch and on which an essentiallycylindrical winding drum 2 is mounted, which is suitable for coiling and decoiling of each towing cable and is freely rotatable but also immovable in the axial direction of saidshaft 1. - Said winding
drum 2 is on itsfirst front side 21 furnished with a brake disc 3 with a smoothcylindrical friction surface 30, which is suitable for cooperation with a belt of each corresponding belt brake. - On the
opposite front side 22 of said winding drum 2 a chain wheel 4 is mounted on saidshaft 1 immovably in the axial direction of saidshaft 1, and is via a lamellar chain driven by means of a driving chain wheel, which is mounted in appropriate area within saidcasing 10 of the winch and is driven by means of a cardan shaft, by which the forestry winch may be coupled with the engine of a tractor, to which the forestry winch is coupled during the use in such a manner that itscasing 10 is attachable to the tractor by means of a common three-point coupling mechanism. - A multiple-
plate clutch 5 is mounted on saidshaft 1, so that itsfriction discs 51 are by means of a hydraulically controlleddisplacing assembly 6 displaceable along theshaft 1 and are also adapted to be pressed against said windingdrum 2, so that upon activation of theclutch 5 and deactivation of the brake the torque is transmitted from said chain wheel 4 onto thewinding drum 2, while upon deactivation of the clutch and activation of the brake despite to continued rotation of said chain wheel 4 transmission of the torque onto said windingdrum 2 is interrupted. - The invention provides that said
clutch 5 together with itsfriction discs 51 is located on thesame side 21 of thewinding drum 2 as the brake disc 3, and saidfriction discs 51 of theclutch 5 are by means of ahydraulic displacing assembly 6 displaceable in a direction along theshaft 1, namely towards saidfront side 21 of thewinding drum 2. - S said
hydraulic displacing assembly 6 is in the embodiment as shown inFig. 1 embedded within a bearing assembly 7, which is also foreseen for bearing of saidshaft 1 within thecasing 10 of the forestry winch, so that a casing ofbearings 71, 72 of theshaft 1 on the side of brake andclutch 5 represents astationary unit 61 of saiddisplacing assembly 6, along which amovable unit 62 of saiddisplacing assembly 6 is by means of pressure of the hydraulic media displaceable in said axial direction towards saidfriction discs 51 of theclutch 5. - It should be therefore clear to each person skilled in the art, that herewith a compact and rigid concept of assembly for controlling of operation of a winding
drum 2 is achieved, which is resistant against loads acting from various directions. Besides, all components of theclutch 5 and the brake, as well as saidunits hydraulic displacing assembly 6 used for controlling ofclutch 5 are arranged within the same easily accessible area in thewinch casing 10, which then enables much easier supervision, maintenance or repair.
