Definitions

  • the invention relates to a system and a method for determining an efficacy of a cosmetic skin treatment.
  • the treatment and care of aging skin is a target of many cosmetics.
  • Skin aging distinguishes between intrinsic or chronological skin aging and extrinsic skin aging.
  • Intrinsic skin aging reflects the normal aging process of the body and increases with age.
  • Extrinsic aging of the skin is triggered by environmental factors such as tobacco smoke, UV radiation or pollution and can lead to premature aging of the skin or increase the chronological aging of the skin.
  • Chronologically aged skin is often thin and transparent and has wrinkles.
  • Extrinsically aged skin especially when exposed to chronic ultraviolet light or sunlight, often has a leathery thickening, deep wrinkles and often irregular skin color.
  • aged skin has a reduced elasticity, which not only contributes to wrinkling, but also relaxes the contours, as is the case, for example, with hocks.
  • the current condition of aged skin can be determined by means of images showing different signs of aging of the skin, for example crow's feet, forehead wrinkles, glabellar hairs, drooping, eye bags, upper lip folds, nasolabial folds etc. Frequently, five or six expression classes are differentiated per skin aging phenomenon. So far, the assessment by means of such series of images by appropriately trained
  • the skin aging condition is subjectively felt by the respective skilled person.
  • a skin aging condition is classified differently by a trained specialist than by another trained specialist, for example due to other lighting conditions. Consequently, a skin aging condition of a user can not be objectively stated.
  • the rating of a skin aging condition can only be performed based on firm skin aging conditions common in the literature. Individual circumstances or individual behaviors of the respective user, which may slow or accelerate a skin aging condition, are used in the determination of a degree
  • an effect of a care product for example an intensity of coverage by means of a cream or by means of moisturizing a cream, or an effectiveness of the care product, can greatly depend on a skin condition.
  • determining a degree of skin aging of a user may be of great importance and may be an important parameter to the user for the objective or standardized assessment of his skin health.
  • extrinsic aging of the skin which may be affected by, for example, environmental factors such as tobacco smoke, ultraviolet radiation or environmental pollution, into a measurement that provides the user with, for example, information on the current skin aging condition ,

  • the system may contribute to a user's independence of the system of opening hours of cosmetic counseling systems, etc.
  • Various embodiments provide a system in which a comparison of a user's own treatment progress with a treatment progress of at least one other user can be made possible.
  • Various embodiments provide a system that can optimize system quality based on a plurality of determined skin aging phenomena of a plurality of users.
  • Various embodiments provide a system that can refine a recommendation of care products based on users already treated with care products.
  • Various embodiments provide a system that facilitates reduction of skin aging phenomena.
  • Various embodiments provide a system by which a user can have better control over a progress of a skin treatment and can track a treatment phase with a care product.
  • Various embodiments provide a standardized system that objectively provides indications of efficacy of a skin care product.
  • Improvement of a recipe of an individual care product provides by the respective measurement result after application of a care product can be compared with a target state of the measured age skin after the application of the care product.
  • Various embodiments provide a system in which an improvement in the skin condition over time can be monitored and archived by the user.

  • areas of the digital image can be determined by means of the amplitude projection method. If certain features of an image are known, for example a shape or a color gradient of a skin aging phenomenon, it is often possible to find a relatively simple method of segmentation. If, for example, the digital image contains only one area, which stands out due to its color value, which is to be found, then this offers itself
  • Amplitude projection on For each row and column of a digital image taken by the camera, a value is calculated which indicates the mean value of the gray values of this one row or column. For example, if one knows that the area of interest in the digital image is the only dark region, for example one by at least one fold, then the digital image can be digitally cropped by selecting any rows or columns where the value exceeds a certain threshold and the rest can be hidden.

  • a contour chaining can be used in particular if lines are interrupted in the digital image due to external influences. It is recognized by local or global operators, for example, whether a line can be continued or a noise or an error can be bypassed. Subsequently, the contour can be approximated by a function, which can also be referred to as contour approximation. • the method of region growing can be used to identify identical image regions. Starting from a start pixel, it is checked for neighboring pixels if they have equality to be added to the region. If this is not the case, they are discarded as lying outside. In order to obtain meaningful regions it is necessary to set seed-points.
  • the region-growing algorithm assumes that the object to be searched in the digital image differs sufficiently from the background, for example one
  • An edge usually forms the conclusion of an object, for example an edge of a reference color or an edge of a marker. However, an edge can also occur in other contexts. Furthermore, an edge may be distinguished by an intensity difference, for example a color intensity difference of a reference color to its surroundings.
  • edge detectors operate in three major steps: a mask is applied to the digital image 6 to produce intensity gradients. Thresholding over the gradient image becomes significant gradients selected. Subsequently, operators and algorithms connect the calculated data to edges, for example to the edges of a skin aging phenomenon.

On the one hand, a goal of morphological image processing can be a new image that emphasizes the relevant. Another target may be a list which is filled with measured variables determined from the digital image 6. • Skin aging phenomenon or a region having a characteristic skin color are determined in the digital image 6 by means of template matching.
