Definitions
- the invention relates to a strip light.
- the invention relates to a household appliance with a strip light.
- a household appliance for example a washing machine, includes an operating device, which can usually include input elements such as switches, buttons, rotary knobs or sensor elements, and output elements such as lamps, numerical or graphic display devices. Occasionally an input element is also illuminated to make operation easier, especially in poor lighting conditions.
- strip lights are also used, which represent an elongated strip of light that can be used for display or illumination. To distribute light along the strip light, the light from an individual lighting element can be distributed, for example by means of a light guide. Alternatively, an elongated light source such as a fluorescent tube may be used, or multiple lighting elements may be used, each illuminating only a portion of the strip light.
- One object underlying the invention is to provide an improved strip light, in particular for use in a household appliance.
- the invention solves this problem by means of the subject matter of the independent claims. Subclaims reflect preferred embodiments.
- JP 2013 057 432 A relates to a capacitive control element for a cooling device. It is proposed to design the control element so that it can be illuminated, with an element that delimits cones around the lighting elements being located between a first level in which there are lighting elements and a second level from which light emerges.
- WO 2014 034 434 A1 proposes to form an illuminable capacitive control element for a refrigerator by keeping lighting elements in a first level spaced from a second level by means of an element from which provided light emerges.
- a strip light includes a plurality of lighting elements arranged along a curve; a transparent exit element for light from the lighting elements; and a connecting element configured to fix the exit element at a predetermined distance from the curve.
- the connecting element between adjacent lighting elements each has a web that extends in the direction of the exit element.
- curve can be understood in particular in a mathematical sense. The curve does not have to be curved, but can also be straight.
- the web or webs run transversely to a main direction of extension of the strip light.
- the webs can help to mechanically stabilize the connecting element, so that the strip light retains its intended shape in an improved manner, particularly in the area of the exit element.
- Assembly of the strip light can be made easier and long-term stability, for example when the materials used for the exit element or the connecting element age, can be improved.
- it can be improved to prevent a wall, i.e. a lateral boundary, from falling in parallel to the main extension direction, i.e. from deforming in particular towards the opposite wall.
- the light exit surface on the exit element can be defined more precisely.
- the lighting or display quality of the strip light can thus be improved.
- the strip light can be better integrated with an adjacent element without forming a disruptive joint, especially an irregular joint.
- the connecting element can be shaped so that it laterally encloses a light channel which extends vertically between the lighting elements and the exit element and horizontally along the curve.
- the light channel can, as will be described in more detail below, be filled with air or at least partially with the exit element.
- the light channel is elongated like the strip light, whereby the connecting element can prevent light from the lighting elements from being emitted to the side.
- the connecting element can thus form a kind of trough, a prism or an elongated funnel, which can make the strip light more usable as a separately manageable unit.
- the connecting element between the webs preferably has a substantially constant material thickness.
- the connecting element can in particular be made from a plastic.
- it can be produced, for example, by means of an injection molding process or by deep drawing.
- the bars can provide stability and prevent walls from collapsing.
- the connecting element comprises additional passages for light or operating elements.
- the strip light with the connecting element can be arranged, for example, between a control surface and a circuit board, with a control element or light being able to be guided between the surface and the circuit board in the area of the passages.
- the connecting element In the area of each passage, the connecting element can form a laterally enclosing wall.
- the wall can support the surface against the circuit board. Additional support points between the circuit board and the surface can also be formed without passage.
- the web assumes a predetermined angle of inclination relative to the curve in the direction of the exit element.
- an area that lies between a lighting element and the exit element can be delimited in a funnel-shaped or prism-shaped manner.
- the area can, for example, take the shape of a truncated pyramid, a cone or another body that preferably tapers conically towards the lighting element.
- a web that lies between two lighting elements can enclose such an angle of inclination with the curve on both sides.
- the web does not have to be designed in the shape of a prism, but rather can be hollow or open at the base, i.e. on a side facing the lighting elements, particularly if the connecting element has a substantially constant material thickness.
- the connecting element delimits a hollow body which has an increasing cross section as the distance from one of the lighting elements increases. Due to the shape of the hollow body, light can spread divergently from the lighting element to the exit element. Adjacent hollow bodies can blend into one another in an improved manner, so that a perceptible brightness on the surface of the exit element can be kept constant in an improved manner along the main extension direction of the strip light. Amounts of light from the lighting elements can flow together in an improved manner.
- the region of the outlet element described above can be arranged in the hollow body and have a shape similar to it.
- the connecting element can be made from a non-transparent (opaque or opaque) material and can be provided with a transparent coating at least in sections.
- the connecting element has a reflective surface.
- the surface can be correspondingly smooth so that total reflection occurs at least at certain angles.
- the surface can also be mirrored, for example by vapor deposition. Both the light yield on the surface of the exit element and the uniform distribution of the light in the area of the exit element can be improved as a result.
- the exit element can be designed to scatter light passing through.
- the exit element can be formed by a light scattering film, which usually has a constant thickness in the direction of the lighting elements.
- the light scattering film can also be arranged below or above the exit element.
- the exit element itself can be designed to scatter light.
- the exit element can also be colored in order to make the light passing through appear in a predetermined color in the manner of a color filter.
- a web can be provided on different sides of one of the lighting elements with respect to the curve.
- the exit element extends in the direction of the lighting element up to between the webs.
- the exit element can be so thick in the vertical direction that it dips at least in sections into the area between two adjacent webs.
- the exit element therefore comprises projections, between which there is a web.
- the exit element itself is divided into individual sections or segments in the area of the webs.
- the mechanical stability of the exit element can thereby be increased.
- the uniform distribution of the light passing through the lighting elements in the direction of the surface of the exit element can be improved.
- the bars can each extend the same height over the curve.
- the exit element between the webs can extend to the same height above the curve. This symmetry in the vertical direction allows an improved distribution of the Light of the lighting elements on the surface of the exit element are favored.
- the installation of the strip light can be simplified.
- the mechanical resilience of the strip light can be improved.
- the strip light can also include a circuit board on which the lighting elements are attached.
- the connecting element is preferably supported relative to the circuit board.
- the connecting element can rest on the circuit board and optionally be held there by means of a connecting element.
- the strip light can be part of an operating device, and further input or output elements can be attached to the circuit board.
- the strip light further comprises a cover film on the surface of the exit element.
- the cover film can in particular carry a label, a scale or a symbol.
- the cover film can be easily interchangeable, so that, for example, the labeling can be easily set in different languages using different cover films.
- An operating device comprising the strip light can thus be set up in an improved manner for different embodiments, variants or localizations of a device assigned to the operating device.
- the strip light can also have a control device, which is preferably set up for the individual control of at least one lighting element. More preferably, the control device can control each lighting element individually or one or more groups of lighting elements. A group includes several lighting elements, preferably adjacent to one another.
- the strip light can also be animated, for example to indicate a direction of movement or a percentage of completion of a task.
- the control device can also be set up to influence the brightness of the lighting elements or groups in multiple stages or continuously. This allows the animation to be smoother and perceived as more organic.
- An operating device in particular for a household appliance, includes the strip light described above.
- the operating device preferably includes at least one additional input or output element.
- the operating device is set up to enable interaction between an operator and a device, in particular a household appliance.
- a household appliance for example a dishwasher, a washing machine, a refrigerator or freezer, an extractor hood, a stove or a kitchen appliance, includes the operating device described above.
- FIG. 1 shows a strip light 100 in a first embodiment, not falling within the scope of the claims.
- the dimensions shown are to be understood as purely exemplary.
- the strip light 100 comprises a plurality of lighting elements 105, which can be mounted on a circuit board 110, as well as an exit element 115 and a connecting element 120.
- the lighting elements 105 can in particular include light-emitting diodes and are mounted along a curve 125, which preferably runs in a plane.
- the curve 125 indicates the main direction of extension of the strip light 100 and can be straight or curved.
- It is the purpose of the strip light 100 to display a light band along the main extension direction, the light band usually being longer than it is wide, for example by a factor of approximately 5, preferably approximately 10 or more.
- the light band should be visible on a surface of the exit element 115 and, if possible, show the same light intensity at all points.
- the connecting element 120 is designed to fix the exit element 115 with respect to the lighting elements 105 or the circuit board 110. For this purpose, there can be a propagation area for light between the lighting elements 105 and the exit element 115 in the horizontal direction, i.e. in the direction of the plane in which the curve 125 lies and usually also laterally limit the direction in which the circuit board 110 extends. As a result, a light channel can be formed which extends between the lighting elements 105 and the exit element 115.
- the connecting element 120 can in particular be made of plastic and, in one embodiment, has a constant thickness at least in the area of the lighting elements 105.
- the connecting element 120 can usually be made from a non-transparent material or at least partially treated so that it absorbs or reflects light. In one embodiment, the connecting element 120 is designed to be reflective at least in sections, for example through a correspondingly smooth surface, a color or a surface treatment.
- the connecting element 120 has a web 130 in the area between two lighting elements 105, which extends in the direction of the exit element 115.
- the web 130 can also lie transversely to the direction of extension of the curve 125.
- a hollow body 135 can thus be formed between two webs 130, the cross section of which increases with increasing distance from the lighting element 105, which lies between the webs 130. Laterally adjacent such hollow bodies 135 can be connected to one another in an area near the exit element 115.
- the increase in cross-section can be caused by correspondingly inclined webs 130 and/or inclined lateral boundaries of the connecting element 120.
- the hollow body 135 preferably has the shape of a truncated pyramid, the pyramid having its base in the area of the exit element 115 and its tip in the area of the lighting element 105.
- the base area of the hollow body 135 is preferably rectangular, more preferably square.
- the hollow body 135 may also comprise another conical body, for example a truncated cone.
- surfaces of adjacent webs 130 on different sides of a lighting element 105 are inclined so that they form an angle of approximately 30° with one another.
- the angle of each individual boundary of a web 130 with respect to a vertical through the plane in which the curve 125 and the circuit board 110 extend is therefore preferably approximately 15°.
- the webs 130 only extend at a certain vertical height above the lighting elements 105 in the direction of the exit element 115.
- the lighting elements 105 lie below the hollow bodies 135, which are each formed between webs 130.
- the webs 130 can also extend deeper towards the circuit board 110.
- the webs 130 extend to a lower boundary of the lighting elements 105 facing the circuit board 110.
- the exit element 115 is located on the top of the strip light 100, on a side of the connecting element 120 facing away from the lighting elements 105.
- the exit element 115 is designed here with a constant vertical thickness.
- the exit element 115 can be set up for light scattering, for example by being made of a transparent material with scattering or reflecting particles.
- the exit element 115 is clearly transparent.
- the exit element 115 can be colored in the manner of a color filter. The color can in particular allow the passage of light in a wavelength that can be provided by the lighting elements 105.
- the lighting elements 105 can be controlled using a control device 140.
- the lighting elements 105 can be organized individually or in groups. Groups preferably include at least two lighting elements 105 that are immediately adjacent to one another.
- a single lighting element 105 or a group of lighting elements 105 can be controlled by means of the control device 140 in the intensity of the emitted light, i.e. in its brightness.
- the brightness can be controlled continuously or the lighting element 105 can be switched on and off.
- the control device 140 can be set up to provide a light animation. For example, a running light or a moving bar display can be implemented.
- Figure 2 shows another embodiment of a strip light 100 falling within the scope of the claims.
- the representation is based on that of Figure 1 although not all of the elements used there are shown.
- the main difference is that the exit element 115 extends between two webs 130 into the hollow body 135.
- the hollow body 135 can be completely filled by the exit element 115 or it remains as in Figure 2 shown is a remainder of the hollow body 135 in the area of the associated lighting element 105. What was said above applies to the transparency or coloring of the exit element 115.
- a cover film 205 can be attached to the top of the exit element 115, which is preferably transparent and can, for example, carry a label, a symbol or other information that can carry a functional reference, in particular to the light emitted by the strip light 100.
- exit element 115 Due to the relatively thick design of the exit element 115, its stability can be increased.
- segmentation of the exit element 115 which is required so that a single section can extend between two webs 130, can keep the mechanical flexibility of the exit element 115, in particular along the main extension direction of the strip light 100, sufficiently large in order to compensate for production or assembly tolerances or a to allow gentle assembly.
- the individual hollow bodies 135 preferably have the same dimensions. In particular, their dimensions d along curve 125 can each be the same. A hollow body 135 with a larger extension e along the curve 125 can be provided at the ends of the light strip. An angle of the outer boundary of the hollow body 135 with respect to the curve 125 can correspond to that of the inner boundary or be different, in particular smaller.
- Figures 3A and 3B show details in the area of a lighting element 105 of an exemplary embodiment of a strip light 100 like that of Figure 1 , and therefore not falling within the wording of the claims, but is considered to facilitate understanding of the invention.
- Figure 3A shows light propagation in the exit element 115 and Figure 3B the light propagation if the connecting element 120 is also attached. Due to the exit element 115, which widens conically from the lighting element 105, an approximately uniform illumination on the top can be achieved, so that a viewer can better perceive a uniformly bright band of light. Light that leaves the illustrated section of the exit element 115 laterally can be reflected back into the exit element 115 by a reflection layer 305.
- the reflection layer 305 can be provided at a boundary of the connecting element 120.
- the reflection layer 305 is preferably parallel to a boundary of the conical section of the exit element 115. In another embodiment, the reflection layer 305 can also be attached to a lateral surface of the conical section of the exit element 115.
- the reflective layer 305 can arise naturally if the connection element 120 has a significantly greater optical density than air.
- the surface of the connecting element 120 can also be processed, for example by polishing.
- a coating that promotes reflection can also be provided, for example by vapor deposition with a reflective layer, for example aluminum or silver.
- Figures 4 to 6 show an exemplary operating device 400 with a strip light 100 in one embodiment.
- Figure 4 shows a top view of the upper surface of the exit element 115
- Figure 5 a top view of the connecting element 120 with the exit element 115 removed
- Figure 6 the exit element 115 in a longitudinal section through the curve 125.
- the connecting element 120 can provide not only a propagation channel or light channel for the strip light 100, but also one or more propagation channels for further display elements 405, as shown.
- Display elements 405 shown as examples include a seven-segment display and a light field.
- An input element can be arranged in the area of the light field or outside, for example a button or sensor surface.
- the operating device 400 can be comprised by a household appliance 410, in particular by a large appliance such as a dishwasher, a tumble dryer, a washing machine, a refrigerator, a freezer or a vacuum cleaner.
- the operating device 400 can also be used on a kitchen appliance such as a stove, an oven or an extractor hood.
- a toaster such as a dishwasher, a tumble dryer, a washing machine, a refrigerator, a freezer or a vacuum cleaner.
- the operating device 400 can also be used on a kitchen appliance such as a stove, an oven or an extractor hood.
- it is also possible to use the operating device 400 on another household appliance such as a toaster, a mixer or a food processor.

Description
The invention relates to a strip light. In particular, the invention relates to a household appliance with a strip light.
A household appliance, for example a washing machine, includes an operating device, which can usually include input elements such as switches, buttons, rotary knobs or sensor elements, and output elements such as lamps, numerical or graphic display devices. Occasionally an input element is also illuminated to make operation easier, especially in poor lighting conditions. In this context, strip lights are also used, which represent an elongated strip of light that can be used for display or illumination. To distribute light along the strip light, the light from an individual lighting element can be distributed, for example by means of a light guide. Alternatively, an elongated light source such as a fluorescent tube may be used, or multiple lighting elements may be used, each illuminating only a portion of the strip light.
However, when using multiple lighting elements, mechanical elements of the strip light can become unstable due to the unfavorable length-to-width ratio. Assembly of the elements can be difficult and the stability of the strip light during operation of the household appliance can be reduced. In addition, the lack of stability can cause a gap or joint to form through which water or dirt can get inside the household appliance.
One object underlying the invention is to provide an improved strip light, in particular for use in a household appliance. The invention solves this problem by means of the subject matter of the independent claims. Subclaims reflect preferred embodiments.
A strip light includes a plurality of lighting elements arranged along a curve; a transparent exit element for light from the lighting elements; and a connecting element configured to fix the exit element at a predetermined distance from the curve. The connecting element between adjacent lighting elements each has a web that extends in the direction of the exit element. The term curve can be understood in particular in a mathematical sense. The curve does not have to be curved, but can also be straight.
The web or webs run transversely to a main direction of extension of the strip light. The webs can help to mechanically stabilize the connecting element, so that the strip light retains its intended shape in an improved manner, particularly in the area of the exit element. Assembly of the strip light can be made easier and long-term stability, for example when the materials used for the exit element or the connecting element age, can be improved. In particular, it can be improved to prevent a wall, i.e. a lateral boundary, from falling in parallel to the main extension direction, i.e. from deforming in particular towards the opposite wall. The light exit surface on the exit element can be defined more precisely. The lighting or display quality of the strip light can thus be improved. In addition, the strip light can be better integrated with an adjacent element without forming a disruptive joint, especially an irregular joint.
The connecting element can be shaped so that it laterally encloses a light channel which extends vertically between the lighting elements and the exit element and horizontally along the curve. The light channel can, as will be described in more detail below, be filled with air or at least partially with the exit element. The light channel is elongated like the strip light, whereby the connecting element can prevent light from the lighting elements from being emitted to the side. The connecting element can thus form a kind of trough, a prism or an elongated funnel, which can make the strip light more usable as a separately manageable unit.
The connecting element between the webs preferably has a substantially constant material thickness. The connecting element can in particular be made from a plastic. For this purpose, it can be produced, for example, by means of an injection molding process or by deep drawing. Especially when an injection molding process is used, the bars can provide stability and prevent walls from collapsing. In one embodiment, the connecting element comprises additional passages for light or operating elements. The strip light with the connecting element can be arranged, for example, between a control surface and a circuit board, with a control element or light being able to be guided between the surface and the circuit board in the area of the passages. In the area of each passage, the connecting element can form a laterally enclosing wall. The wall can support the surface against the circuit board. Additional support points between the circuit board and the surface can also be formed without passage.
The web assumes a predetermined angle of inclination relative to the curve in the direction of the exit element.
In this way, an area that lies between a lighting element and the exit element can be delimited in a funnel-shaped or prism-shaped manner. The area can, for example, take the shape of a truncated pyramid, a cone or another body that preferably tapers conically towards the lighting element. A web that lies between two lighting elements can enclose such an angle of inclination with the curve on both sides. To save material, the web does not have to be designed in the shape of a prism, but rather can be hollow or open at the base, i.e. on a side facing the lighting elements, particularly if the connecting element has a substantially constant material thickness.
As already indicated, the connecting element delimits a hollow body which has an increasing cross section as the distance from one of the lighting elements increases. The region of the outlet element described above can be arranged in the hollow body and have a shape similar to it.
The connecting element can be made from a non-transparent (opaque or opaque) material and can be provided with a transparent coating at least in sections. In some embodiments, the connecting element has a reflective surface. The surface can be correspondingly smooth so that total reflection occurs at least at certain angles. The surface can also be mirrored, for example by vapor deposition. Both the light yield on the surface of the exit element and the uniform distribution of the light in the area of the exit element can be improved as a result.
The exit element can be designed to scatter light passing through. For this purpose, the exit element can be formed by a light scattering film, which usually has a constant thickness in the direction of the lighting elements. The light scattering film can also be arranged below or above the exit element. Alternatively, the exit element itself can be designed to scatter light. The exit element can also be colored in order to make the light passing through appear in a predetermined color in the manner of a color filter.
A web can be provided on different sides of one of the lighting elements with respect to the curve. The exit element extends in the direction of the lighting element up to between the webs. In other words, the exit element can be so thick in the vertical direction that it dips at least in sections into the area between two adjacent webs. The exit element therefore comprises projections, between which there is a web. As a result, the exit element itself is divided into individual sections or segments in the area of the webs. The mechanical stability of the exit element can thereby be increased. The uniform distribution of the light passing through the lighting elements in the direction of the surface of the exit element can be improved.
The bars can each extend the same height over the curve. The exit element between the webs can extend to the same height above the curve. This symmetry in the vertical direction allows an improved distribution of the Light of the lighting elements on the surface of the exit element are favored. The installation of the strip light can be simplified. The mechanical resilience of the strip light can be improved.
The strip light can also include a circuit board on which the lighting elements are attached. The connecting element is preferably supported relative to the circuit board. In particular, the connecting element can rest on the circuit board and optionally be held there by means of a connecting element. As already indicated above, the strip light can be part of an operating device, and further input or output elements can be attached to the circuit board.
In yet another embodiment, the strip light further comprises a cover film on the surface of the exit element. The cover film can in particular carry a label, a scale or a symbol. The cover film can be easily interchangeable, so that, for example, the labeling can be easily set in different languages using different cover films. An operating device comprising the strip light can thus be set up in an improved manner for different embodiments, variants or localizations of a device assigned to the operating device.
The strip light can also have a control device, which is preferably set up for the individual control of at least one lighting element. More preferably, the control device can control each lighting element individually or one or more groups of lighting elements. A group includes several lighting elements, preferably adjacent to one another. The strip light can also be animated, for example to indicate a direction of movement or a percentage of completion of a task. The control device can also be set up to influence the brightness of the lighting elements or groups in multiple stages or continuously. This allows the animation to be smoother and perceived as more organic.
An operating device, in particular for a household appliance, includes the strip light described above. The operating device preferably includes at least one additional input or output element. The operating device is set up to enable interaction between an operator and a device, in particular a household appliance.
A household appliance, for example a dishwasher, a washing machine, a refrigerator or freezer, an extractor hood, a stove or a kitchen appliance, includes the operating device described above.

The connecting
It is proposed that the connecting
In the embodiment shown, the
The
The
Due to the relatively thick design of the
The individual
The
It should be noted that one skilled in the art can easily combine features discussed above with respect to different embodiments of the invention with features of other disclosed embodiments.
