Description

The invention relates to an escalator with a plurality of movable step segments, which run in a row on four wheels which are mounted on the four corners of each step segment, the tread of each step segment lying horizontally during transport at the front and sloping downwards during transport backwards.

From the JP2003292276A an escalator is known in which the step segments consist of several profiles which are hinged to one another, with both the front rollers/wheels of the step segments being attached to a transport chain and the rear rollers/wheels of the step segments being attached to another transport chain. Such an escalator construction is technically complex and also has the disadvantage that conventional escalators also have, that both in the lower end area (lower turning station) and in the upper end area (upper turning station), a large overall height is required, so that an installation of this escalator is then possible is not possible if little height is available in the lower and/or upper end area.

DE 10 2005 058 052 A1 shows an escalator in which each step body has a significant height. With this construction, the escalator has a large overall height both in the lower and in the upper end area, so that the escalator cannot be installed or used where low overall heights are required. This is particularly important in the case of the stairs used to bring passengers onto the aircraft at airports.

The DE 20 2007 003 908 U1 shows a passenger conveyor belt with which people are transported horizontally. Such a conveyor belt has no steps and transports people with horizontal plates and therefore has no deflection problems at the ends of the conveyor belt.

The one in the GB 197 744 A The solution shown, the step bodies have a considerable height, since the construction only works here if a large projection protrudes from the underside of each step plate, on the underside of which the rollers are attached. At the turning points, it is not possible to achieve a low overall height.

At the in the WO 99/52808 A1 The solution shown has the steps of the usual, considerable height. The underside of the step body can be folded in to reduce the overall height. This is a significant design effort.

The object of the invention is to improve an escalator of this type in such a way that, with a simple construction and a long service life, there is a low overall height in both end areas.

According to the invention, this object is achieved in that
  • that each step segment is formed by a rectangular step plate of the same height, with a wheel mounted on each of the four corners,
  • that in the front transport area of the escalator, the two front wheels of each step segment are transported by two circulating transport chains,
  • that the rear two wheels of each step segment run on two inclined first tracks without being attached to transport chains, and
  • that in the rear return transport area, the step segments are transported back by the two circulating transport chains on two inclined, rear, second tracks with an inclined tread surface.

Such a design not only results in a simple construction and a long service life, but also leads to a particularly low overall height of the escalator both in the lower and in the upper end area, so that this escalator can also be installed or used where low overall heights are available.

The previously known escalators are so tall that significant depressions in the floor or ascent and descent aids are required in order to even allow stepping onto the stairs or the exit.

The lower turning station has such a low overall height that it can be entered directly. The stair scaffolding is designed with a combination of several girders and running tracks and locking devices arranged on them.

The proposed improvement results in the novelty of location independence of a continuous escalator and a streamlining of its overall appearance, especially in the lower, extremely flat turning station, further with the gain in adaptability to different or changing heights of the upper turning station. In addition to its stationary use, this novelty allows mobile use at airports, quays, exhibition grounds, etc. with the advantage of easily overcoming great heights and at the same time the platform can be lowered for transport and parking. When installing in smaller buildings, there is the advantage of the small recess. In all areas of application, the escalator enables adjustment to the millimeter to specified or changing heights, even during the step circulation.

The fact that in the lower and upper end area the step segments are transported horizontally in the horizontal position in the front and rear transport area on horizontal tracks also leads to these advantages.

It is preferably proposed that the two transport chains have rollers as chain links, the diameter of which is equal to the diameter of the wheels of the step segments.

It is also advantageous if the axles of the wheels of each step segment are arranged below the tread surface.

Preferably, it is proposed that the transport chains and tracks are arranged in side cheeks of the escalator.

It is also advantageous if the transport chains are deflected by sprockets in the lower and upper end area of the escalator.

It is also proposed that the step segments are guided horizontally in the upper and lower end area of the escalator and that their treads form a horizontal entry and exit area.

A safe transport and a safe guidance of the individual step segments is given when the rear end of each step segment is beveled at an angle that is equal to the pitch angle of the escalator.

The stability of the escalator is significantly improved if the two lateral cheeks of the escalator are connected to one another by U-shaped supports, which are also the ends of the understep areas.

It is also advantageous if two additional deflection wheels are mounted in the lower end area, by means of which the rear wheels of the step segments are deflected, so that there is a reliable deflection movement of the individual step segments.

Trapping of feet/shoes is significantly prevented if slides are movably guided in the lower and/or uppermost space (understep area) between the step segments, which cover the rear area of the space while the height of the space decreases.

An embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawings in vertical sections and is described below, the figures show:
Figure 1:
The escalator at the bottom and
Figure 2:
the escalator at the top.

The escalator has a large number of step segments 1, each of which is formed by a rectangular step plate of consistently low height. The upper side of the step segment forms a step surface 3 and a wheel 2 is mounted at each of the four corners, the axis of which lies below the step surface 3 in each case. The two front wheels 2a are each fastened to a transport chain 4 which is formed by a roller chain with rollers 7 . The rear two wheels 2b of the step segments 1 run on first inclined tracks 5 and are not attached to any chain.

Hierbei laufen die Stufensegmente 1 in ihrer schrägen Lage mit ihren vier Rädern 2a, 2b auf hinteren zweiten Laufbahnen 6.In the front transport area C, the step segments are horizontal with their step plate and tread 3, while in the rear transport area D the step plates and treads 3 are inclined. In this case, the step segments 1 run in their inclined position with their four wheels 2a, 2b on rear second tracks 6.

The rear ends 15 of the step segments are beveled at an angle α, which corresponds to the incline angle of the escalator, so that the step segments are reliably guided on the first runway 5 .

Both in the lower end area (lower turning station) A and in the upper end area (upper turning station) B, the two lateral transport chains 4 run horizontally, so that the step segments 1 are guided horizontally there, especially since the tracks 5, 6 are also arranged horizontally there. Here, the transport chains 4 are deflected by chain wheels 9, 10 at the outer ends of both end regions A, B.

Such a construction allows the distance between the upper and lower step segments 1 to be kept small in the end areas A, B, particularly in the lower end area A, so that the escalator can have a low overall height H in the end areas.

In addition, there are deflection wheels 16 in both end regions A, B, which accommodate the rear wheels 2b, while the respective step segment 1 is deflected or reversed (turned).

There is a cheek 8 on each side of the escalator, which accommodates the transport chains and the tracks 5, 6. The cheeks 8 are connected to one another by U-shaped supports (not shown), which are used for stability and are also ends of the understep areas 19 .

As a step segment 1 approaches an end region (A or B), the distance of the step segment 1 to the adjacent step segment 1 decreases, i. H. the space between the two step segments (also referred to as "understep area" 19) becomes smaller. As a result, the foot/shoe of a user of the escalators can be trapped in this understep area. To prevent this, there is a horizontally movable slider in the understep area, which clears the understep area while the space in between becomes smaller.

The tread bodies are grooved on the surface and on the front and rear sides and are square or rounded on the edges. They are connected to the carrying and pulling devices of the step link belt and correspond to all end devices by means of the rear bevels. They can have openings, divisions, incisions or inclusions, etc., but not exceeding their basically flat, cuboid contour.

The turning stations are equipped with the bearings for the stair scaffolding, with the drive device for the step belt and with the movable or immovable barrier devices for personal and accident protection arranged in the shaft; also with devices for the chain tension, for the deflection of the step link belt, for the inwardly bent roller conveyors and for the transitions of the step link belt at the connection points of the assemblies. They can be equipped with an additional drive with an additional drive shaft.

The cover of the turning station is designed with an offset in the shaft area. Brush belts, nubbed and saddle runs seal the slots of the tracks or the driver bolts of the step link belt and the rear step roller. The handrail is equipped with a nub protection below the grip area and can be equipped with a disinfection device.

The body may have devices for cleaning, for obtaining the atmospheric overpressure, cooling, heating and other protective and safety devices.
