Description

The invention relates to a device comprising a cloth, more particularly to a device comprising a screen, the screen comprising the cloth and a framework configured and suitable for fastening and tensioning the cloth thereon.
Many embodiments of such a device are known, such as a sunshade, wherein the cloth extends in a more horizontal plane, or a wind-break, wherein the cloth extends in a more vertical plane. Whether a sunshade or a wind-break is desirable depends, particularly for balconies, terraces and canopies, on the position of the sun, the time of day, the temperature and the wind force. Sunshade and wind-break need therefore be exchanged repeatedly for optimal comfort. GB702896A discloses such a device comprising a cloth having the features of the preamble of claim 1. The present invention now provides an improved solution for this.
The invention provides for this purpose a device comprising a cloth according to claim 1, wherein the the device also comprises first control means configured and suitable for positioning the cloth in a first position in which the cloth, in a situation of use of the device, forms a sunshade and a second position in which the cloth, in a situation of use of the device, forms a wind-break.
The invention will be further elucidated hereinbelow on the basis of an exemplary embodiment of a device according to the invention. More or less schematically in the drawings:

figure 1 shows side views and front views of the device with the cloth in the 'sunshade position' and in the 'wind-break position' and in two height positions;
figure 2 shows cross-sections in the 'sunshade position' and in the 'wind-break position';
figure 3 shows the folding out of the screen into the 'wind-break position'; and
figure 4 shows a perspective detail of the device in the 'sunshade position'.

The device (1) according to the invention shown in the drawings comprises a screen (2), the screen comprising a cloth (21) and a framework (22) for fastening and tensioning the cloth (21) thereon. The screen (2) can be folded out and folded in. According to the invention, the device (1) also comprises first control means (3) for positioning the cloth (21) in a first position (A;A1;A2) in which the cloth (21) forms a sunshade, and a second position (B;B1;B2) in which the cloth (21) forms a wind-break.
The device (1) also comprises a stand (5) for supporting the screen (2). The stand (5) comprises an upright (51) which comprises a first part (52) and a second part (53). The first control means (3) comprise a rod (31) which is pivotally connected at a first outer end by means of first connecting means (32) to the stand (5) or the upright (51) or the first part (52) of the upright (51), and is pivotally connected at a second outer end by means of second connecting means (33) to the screen (2). The screen (2) is also connected pivotally and slidably by means of third connecting means (34) to the stand (5) or the upright (51) or the first part (52) of the upright (51).
The device (1) also comprises second control means (4) for adjusting the cloth (21) in the height within a determined range (C), here at least 100 cm. The second control means (4) comprise fourth connecting means (41) for telescopically connecting the first part (52) and the second part (53) of the upright (51). The cloth (21) can thus be adjusted in the height, both in the 'sunshade position' and in the 'wind-break position'.
The device (1) also comprises first operating means (35) for operating the first control means (3), and also second operating means (42) for operating the second control means (4). In the given example the first operating means (35) are integrated in the third connecting means (34). The first operating means (35) and the second operating means (42) are arranged on the same side of the device (1), and can thus both be accessed and handled on that side, which is very practical for a user.
It will be apparent that the invention is not limited to the given exemplary embodiments but that diverse variants which will be obvious to a skilled person are possible within the scope of the invention. In the 'sunshade position' the device can for instance also serve as rain cover/umbrella. It is also possible to combine a plurality of devices so as to thus cover a greater surface area. What is essential is that the cloth can be placed in a first position and a second position, in which it serves respectively as sunshade and as wind-break.

Claims

Device (1) comprising a cloth (21), wherein the device also comprises first control means (3) configured and suitable for positioning the cloth in a first position (A;A1;A2) in which the cloth (21), in a situation of use of the device, forms a sunshade and a second position (B;B1;B2) in which the cloth, in a situation of use of the device, forms a wind-break, the device comprising a screen (2) that can be folded out and folded in, the screen comprising the cloth (21) and a framework (22) configured and suitable for fastening and tensioning the cloth thereon, wherein the device also comprises a stand (5) configured and suitable for supporting the screen, characterized in that the first control means (3) comprise a rod (31) and first connecting means (32) that connect the rod at a first outer end pivotally to the stand (5), and in that:
the first control means (3) comprise second connecting means (33) that connect the rod (31) at a second outer end pivotally to the framework (22), the screen (2) is fan-shaped and comprises a hinge from which the framework (22) extends and (un)folds, the first control means (3) comprise third connecting means (34) that connect the hinge pivotally and slidably to the stand (5).
Device as claimed in claim 1, characterized in that the device also comprises second control means (4) configured and suitable for adjusting the cloth in the height within a determined range (C), at least 20 cm, preferably at least 50 cm, more preferably at least 100 cm.
Device as claimed in claim 2, characterized in that:
the stand comprises an upright (51), which upright comprises a first part (52) and a second part (53); and

the second control means comprise fourth connecting means (41) configured and suitable for telescopically connecting the first part and the second part.
Device as claimed in any of the foregoing claims, characterized in that the device also comprises first operating means (35) configured and suitable for operating the first control means.
Device as claimed in claim 2 or 3, characterized in that the device also comprises second operating means (42) configured and suitable for operating the second control means.
Device as claimed in claims 4 and 5, characterized in that the first operating means and the second operating means are arranged on the same side of the device (1).
Device as claimed in any of the foregoing claims, characterized in that the rod (31) extends over the screen (2) in the first position (A) and the rod (31) extends between the screen (2) and the stand (5) in the second position (B).
Device as claimed in any of the foregoing claims, characterized in that the screen (2) takes up a horizontal first position and a vertical second position.
Device as claimed in any of the foregoing claims, characterized in that the third connecting means (34) comprise a sleeve that is fitted slidably around the stand (5) and the hinge is arranged pivotally on the sleeve.
