Definitions
- the present invention relates to the general field of isolation of sound pickup microphones.
- the present invention more particularly describes an anti-wind and anti-vibration protection device.
- a microphone is an object usually composed of one or more acoustic sensors, a transduction device, a possible electrical outlet carrying the useful signal, a possible recorder of this signal, a possible high frequency transmitter and of a body forming the object.
- a microphone is sensitive to surrounding air flows and to possible vibrations transmitted by its support.
- Many very common microphones are made up of two parts: a front part made up of acoustic ports and a rear part made up of electronics.
- Some anti-vibration protection devices are for example described in old documents US1653109 , US3155780 , US4396807 or, more recently since the appearance of new techniques, described in the documents FR2893213 (Claims 1 to 6) or US8121333 . All these devices are based on the application of the great principle of reduction of the vibration transmission based on the inertia effect of a mass fixed by one or more springs to a vibrating support.
- the microphone considered inert and rigid in low frequency approximation, therefore plays the role of mass.
- the springs can be so called “insulators" and only those having two ends are concerned by the present description and by the claims.
- Said isolators are therefore inserted between the microphone on one side and the vibrating support on the other.
- These devices often called “microphone suspensions”, can be associated with an additional wind protection such as a foam or a cage around the acoustic ports of the microphone, said protection being rigidly linked to the microphone in its front part.
- the protection is a cage, or the like, it may be made up or covered with various porous materials. See for example the documents DE19934260 and US2014211974 .
- a microphone suspension must in particular be able to extend over the greatest possible length of the body of the microphone.
- wind protection must be able to surround the acoustic ports as widely as possible in all directions. For many microphones, particularly of small size, this conflicting need for space often leads to a degraded compromise between the efficiencies of wind protection and anti-vibration.
- the document GB2184916 shows the example of a large wind screen completely surrounding the microphone in its entirety, for enhanced wind protection efficiency.
- the cage considered rigid and porous, is possibly covered with various materials which are also porous, such as fabric or fake fur.
- the microphone is therefore completely surrounded by a cavity, with the exception of its own supporting structure constituted by an anti-vibration device entirely included in the cavity.
- the microphone hangs flexibly relative to the support, but the cage itself is rigidly attached to said support. This rigidity of fixing causes a significant vibratory sensitivity of the cage and indirectly transmits the vibrations of the support to the microphone by acoustic means.
- the documents FR2893213 and GB2529069 present two variants of combinations between an anti-vibration device for a microphone and an anti-vibration device for an associated wind cage. For each of these two variants, the microphone and the two devices are fully included in the cavity. These two variants have a drawback: it is very difficult to produce smaller versions, in particular because relative flexibility between the microphone and the cage, which can significantly increase the risk of various noises.
- the device according to the invention overcomes the various drawbacks described above, in particular when the microphones are of reduced size or when the rear part of the microphone is small compared to its front part.
- the device comprises on the one hand a rigid cage forming a complete cavity around the microphone, without any particular details on the nature of the fixing of the microphone in the cage, said cage being made up or covered with porous materials. It should be noted that the description of said materials is not part of the present invention.
- the device comprises one or more insulators fixed on one side to the cage and on the other to the support. Each insulator, generally wired and curved, having two ends, is made of one or more spring effect materials.
- the device according to the invention is particularly characterized in that the insulators are fixed outside the cage.
- the microphone (1) is not part of the invention, but its representation is necessary for understanding the device.
- the device comprises: a cage (2) considered rigid in the sense of vibrations at low frequency approximation; a cavity (3) completely surrounding the microphone (1); one or more insulators (4) and a support (5).
- the support (5) is an element which is directly subjected to vibrations from which the microphone must be protected.
- the insulators (4), located outside the cage (2), constitute the vibration isolation interface between the support (5) and said cage (2).
- the cage (2) made up or covered with porous materials, provides wind protection for the microphone (1).
- the method of fixing the microphone in the cage is not specified; it can therefore be arbitrary.
- the size and shape of the cage (2) must be chosen according to the physiognomy of the microphone (1) and the desired degree of wind protection, knowing that the efficiency increases with the increase in volume of the cavity (3) .
- the microphone (1) is rigidly fixed to the cage by an internal structure (6).
- This structure thus guarantees the constitution of a rigid and mass assembly formed by the cage (2), the microphone (1) and structure (6).
- the refined forms of this structure (6) must be chosen so that the cavity effect, in particular necessary for the quality of wind protection, is respected.
- the microphone (1) is made removable by rigid coupling to a hollow profiled element (7), such as a tube, said element being rigidly fixed to the cage (2).
- a hollow profiled element (7) such as a tube
- the Figure 3 shows the case where the microphone (1) comes out from the back of the cage (2), insofar as the acoustic ports (1b) are considered at the front.
- the rear part (la) of the microphone (1) does not have acoustic ports (1b). It is therefore this rear part (la) which is rigidly coupled to the element (7).
- the microphone (1) comes out from the front, as opposed to the mode shown in Figure 3 .
- the Figure 4 presents a possible separation of the cage (2), not claimed, implying the formation of the parts (2a) and (2b). This separation is also possible in all embodiments.
- the device according to the invention is useful for any sound recording linked to the radio, music, cinematographic or audiovisual industry as a whole.

Description
- le microphone est rigidement fixé à la cage par toute structure utile ne nuisant pas aux qualités acoustiques de l'ensemble, notamment à la qualité de protection anti-vent ;
- le microphone peut être inséré ou extrait de la cage par tout moyen mécanique ;
- ledit moyen mécanique est un élément profilé creux, tel un tube, rigidement fixé à la cage, assurant un couplage rigide avec le microphone ;
- le couplage rigide du microphone est réalisé sur une partie du corps de microphone ne possédant pas de port acoustique ;
- les isolateurs, au nombre de quatre, sont couplés symétriquement deux à deux, de telle sorte qu'il y ait quatre points de fixation distincts sur la cage ;
- les isolateurs, au nombre de quatre, sont couplés symétriquement deux à deux, de telle sorte qu'il y ait quatre points de fixation réunis deux à deux sur la cage ;
- outre leur caractéristique filaire et courbe, les isolateurs possèdent une forme quelconque ;
