- the second end 15.2 of the adapter 15 has two magnetic bodies 30 to magnetically connect the adapter 15 to the RJ modular plug 2, and when the RJ modular plug 2 is magnetically connected to the adapter 15, the contacts 5 of the RJ modular plug 2 contact mating contacts 14 in the inner mating contact region 21 .1 of the socket part 21.
- the female part 21 is designed to receive an RJ-modular connector 2 in the embodiment as RJ-45 connector.
- Figure 6 shows a connector system comprising an adapter 1 for a plug 2 and an adapter 12 for a socket 13.
- the adapter 12 for the socket 13 is shown in a different from the embodiment of Figures 3 and 4 variant.
- the housing 40 of the adapter 12 for the socket 13 is formed as a diaphragm 40, such that the aperture 40 can be fixed to a front side of the sleeve 13, wherein the two magnetic body 30 integrated into the front wall 60 of the aperture 40 and the side of the opening 70 are arranged.
- a panel 40 can be fixed, for example, to the socket 13 by being fixed to an existing panel, to a building wall or to a piece of equipment.
- the adapter 1 shown in Figure 6 for the plug 2 is an adapter 1 according to the embodiment of Figures 1 and 2.
- no kink protection grommet 9 is provided on the cable 10.
- the adapters 1, 12 each have two magnetic bodies 3, 30, which together generate a magnetic holding force which keeps a connection of the adapters 1, 12 closed in the inserted state. When plugged in and closed, the contacts and mating contacts of the plug and socket contact each other so that signals, power or data can be transmitted.
- the adapter 1 for the plug 2 has a housing 4, which is designed to receive the plug 2 and mechanically fix it, as has already been explained above.
- the housing 4 is designed such that the front, provided with contacts 15 contact area 2.1 of the plug 2 remains accessible.
- the socket 13 which is adapted by the adapter 12 to a magnetic socket, it may for example be a wall socket for connection of a cash register.
- a magnetic holding force is generated, a user receives during the handling of the adapter 1 and the plug 2, a tactile feedback, in which orientation and position of the adapter 1 in the socket 13 and the adapter 12 for the socket 13 is inserted.
- the closing of the connector is greatly facilitated by the magnetic guide.
- FIG. 7 shows the system 16 in a second embodiment.
- the adapter 12 for the socket 13 is now an adapter 12 for a socket 13 according to the embodiment of FIGS. 3 and 4.
- the invention may be used to advantage to extend existing connectors, such as those shown on cables 10 as shown herein, to a magnetic connector system.
- the socket 13 may also be formed in an electrical device or be connected directly to this, for example, such that the socket 13 projects slightly beyond the device and in particular the cable 10 of the socket 13 is optionally also formed very short.
- FIGS. 9 and 10 show an isometric view of two views of an adapter 17 with two adapter parts 17.1, 17.2 which can be connected to one another.
- a first adapter part 17.1 at a first end 17.1 .1 a plug part 23 for connection to an RJ-modular socket 13, in this case an RJ-45 socket (not shown), on.
- contact elements 18 and a first part 25.1 of a magnetic connection means 25 are provided.
- the first part 25.1 of the magnetic connection device 25 comprises two magnetic bodies 30, which are arranged longitudinally to the contact elements 18 and surround the contact elements 18. By this arrangement, a strong magnetic holding force can be generated.
- the second adapter part 17.2 provides at a first end 17.2.1, which is provided for connection to the second end 17.1 .2 of the first adapter part 17.1, countercontact elements 19 and a second part 25.2 of the magnetic connection device 25.
- the second part 25.2 of the magnetic connection device 25 has correspondingly two magnetic bodies 3.
- the adapter 17 has an RJ modular socket part 24, in this case an RJ-45 socket 13, on.
- first adapter part 17.1 with its first end 17.1 .1 in an RJ-45 socket 13 in a conventional manner, whereby instead of the RJ-45 socket 13 now at the second end of the 17.2.1 first adapter part 17.2 located interface with the contact elements 18 and the first part 25.1 of the magnetic see connecting device 25 is present.
- a cable 10 with an RJ-45 plug 2 can be plugged into the RJ-45 socket part 24 of the second adapter part 17.2, whereby the cable 10 at its end now instead of the RJ-45 connector 2, the interface of the first end 17.2.1 of the second adapter part 17.2 with the mating contact elements 19 and the second part 25.2 of the magnetic connection device 25.
- the contact elements 18 and the mating contact elements 19 can thus contact when the magnetic connection device is closed. Also in this way it is easily possible to convert a conventional connector system into a magnetic connector system.
- the connector or the adapter 17 are simultaneously protected from damage by lateral forces that may possibly lead to a termination of the connector.
- the magnetic holding force can be designed so that the magnetic connection device 25 represents a predetermined breaking point, which magnetically separates a connection of the adapter parts 17.1, 17.2 in the event of mechanical overstress, before any damage occurs. This is particularly possible if the interfaces of the adapter parts 17.1, 17.2 are designed such that they do not penetrate too deeply mechanically into each other when the adapter parts 17.1, 17.2 are connected together. This is the case in the illustrated embodiment of Figures 9 and 10.
- FIG. 1 1 and 12 each show an embodiment of the adapter 1 for the plug 2 ( Figure 1 1) and the adapter 12 for the socket 13 ( Figure 12) for a USB connector system. In this embodiment, therefore, no locking lug 1 1 is provided, since a USB connector system does not have such a latching lug 1 1.
- the adapter 1, 12 according to the invention can be used for a variety of known connector systems, however, a use of the adapter for plugs and sockets of an RJ-modular connector system is particularly suitable.
- FIG. 13 shows a third exemplary embodiment of an adapter 1 according to the invention for a plug 2. In this case, the housing 4 is designed for receiving and fixing a plug 2 with primarily flat contacts 5.
- the contact region 2.1 of the plug 2 terminates coplanar with the front side 6 of the housing 4 of the adapter 1. Further, in the embodiment, two magnetic bodies 3 are provided, which are arranged in the longitudinal direction of the contacts 5 of the plug 2 and arranged around the opening 7 of the housing 4.
