Definitions
- the invention relates to an applicator tip for a cosmetic product, an applicator and an associated applicator assembly.
- Applicator assemblies for cosmetic products are known, in particular for cosmetic products intended to be applied to the lips of a user.
- Said applicator assemblies comprise a container containing the cosmetic product and an applicator adapted to be removably attached to the container.
- the container generally comprises a body, the body comprising walls defining a reservoir in which the cosmetic product is contained, and a neck defining an opening through which the cosmetic product can be extracted.
- the applicator generally comprises a stopper adapted to be fixed on the neck, a stem extending from the stopper and an applicator tip fixed to a free end of the stem.
- the rod and the applicator tip extend inside the reservoir.
- the applicator is immersed in the cosmetic product contained in the reservoir.
- the user detaches the cap from the neck and extracts the applicator from the container.
- Known applicator tips generally have a spatula-shaped zone intended to come into contact with the lips to be made up, in particular to load them with cosmetic product.
- the spatula-shaped zone usually only allows local application of cosmetic product, in particular on a single lip at a time.
- the spatula also has an uncomfortable rigidity when pressure is exerted on the lips.
- EP1440629 is an example of an applicator tip according to the state of the art.
- the present invention aims to propose an applicator tip making it possible to make up, in a single application, the two lips of a user while maintaining comfort of use during make-up and ease of wiping.
- the invention relates to an applicator endpiece for a cosmetic product, the applicator endpiece comprising a fixing part capable of being assembled to a support rod and an application part of said product.
- the application part extends along a main direction of longitudinal extension, called the main direction, between a proximal end and a distal end opposite the proximal end.
- the fixing part comprises a support finger external to the support rod.
- the application part is attached to the support finger so as to envelop the major part of the support finger, the support finger and the application part being in discrete contact over a limited area in the vicinity of the distal end of the application part. application.
- the application part is configured to pass from a rest position in which the support finger and the proximal end of the application part are free of any contact towards a use position, in which the support finger (15 ) and/or the application part (20) bend in such a way that the proximal end of the application part is at the point of entering, or comes into contact with, the support finger and/or the support rod, the application part has an internal wall and an external wall, said external wall merging with an applicator surface, said internal wall of the application part and the support finger forming a cavity in the form of a volume of revolution around the support finger , said cavity forming a reservoir.
- the applicator tip comprises an application part fixed to a support finger so as to envelop the major part of the latter, such as a cap covering the support finger extending from the distal end of the application part. to the support rod.
- the applicator has a very distinctive "mushroom” or “umbrella” shape. The space between the application part and the support rod is thus reduced and an accumulation of product at this level after wiping is avoided, which risks running and hinders the application of the product.
- the space between the application part and the support rod gives flexibility to the applicator tip; this flexibility confers on said tip a comfort of use, in particular for making up the lips of a user.
- This space can be defined as a hollow, in particular in the form of a volume of revolution, around a support finger, delimited by the internal walls and the support finger and forming a reservoir.
- the invention also relates to an applicator assembly for a cosmetic product, comprising a container comprising a body forming a reservoir intended to contain the cosmetic product, and an applicator as described above, adapted to be fixed on the container, so that the applicator tip is housed inside the reservoir.
- the invention also relates to the applicator assembly, the reservoir of which is filled with cosmetic product, the product being in particular intended for making up the lips of a user.
- the figure 1 illustrates a first example of an applicator tip 10 for a cosmetic product according to the invention.
- the applicator tip 10 extends in a main direction of longitudinal extension, referred to as the main direction and marked X in the figures.
- the applicator tip 10 comprises an application part 20.
- application part is understood to mean a part of the applicator tip which is able to retain cosmetic product when it is brought into contact with it, and to restore it then.
- the application part 20 extends in the main direction, between a proximal end 13 and a distal end 16, opposite the proximal end.
- the application part 20 has an internal wall 21 and an external wall, the external wall being merged with an applicator surface 22.
- applicator surface is understood to mean a surface devoid of protuberances such as the protuberances of mascara brushes which are used to the application of the product. This is the outer surface of the application part 20.
- the applicator surface 22 is rounded and extends from the distal end 16 towards the proximal end 13 of the application part 20.
- the application part 20 has a longitudinal section in the main direction X elongated, in particular in the shape of an oval of which a part of material is missing at the level of the proximal end 13, and a transverse section in the main direction X circular and of maximum diameter d. This elongated shape provides a larger applicator surface 22 while maintaining a restricted diameter of the application part 20 to facilitate its introduction into a container 50 containing the cosmetic product.
- the applicator tip 10 comprises an attachment part 11 which here takes the form of a sleeve 14 and a support finger 15.
- the sleeve 14 is configured to be assembled with a support rod 40, here embedded in the support rod 40.
- the support finger 15 is in the extension of the sleeve (14) and of the support rod 40 and is configured to link the application part 20 to the sleeve 14. Otherwise said, the sleeve 14 and the support rod 40 are separate parts intended to be in recessed connection once assembled together.
- the application part 20 is thus fixed to the support finger 15 so as to envelop the major part of the latter.
- the application part 20 is an envelope such as a cap surrounding the support finger 15 and extending from the distal end 16 to the sleeve 14.
- the applicator has a very distinctive “mushroom” or “umbrella” shape.
- the envelope extends as far as the support rod 40, reducing the space between the application part 20 and the support rod 40. This avoids an accumulation of product at this level after wringing which risks running and hinders the application of the product.
- the support finger 15 and the application part 20 are in discrete contact over a limited zone in the vicinity of the distal end 16 of the application part 20.
- an isolated point, punctual that is to say a contact at the level of a zone of small surface.
- the contact between the support finger 15 and the application part 20 is made via the internal wall 21 of the application part 20.
- the end of the support finger 15 opposite the sleeve 14 is connected to the internal wall 21 of the distal end 16 of the application part 20 at a point, called the attachment point F.
- the term “point F” is understood to mean a substantially point contact zone which gives the envelope a point around which it is suitable to switch.
- This attachment point F substantially corresponds to the cross section of the support finger 15, here a circle of diameter d15 corresponding to that of the support finger 15 which is cylindrical.
- the applicator surface 22 is continuous so as to form a space between the internal wall 21 of the application part 20 and the support finger 15 thus delimiting a cavity 23.
- the thickness of material between the applicator surface 22 (or outer wall) and the inner wall 21 serves as a wall for the cavity 23.
- the cavity 23 has the advantage of serving as an intermediate reservoir for the cosmetic product to be applied.
- the cavity is designed as an intermediate tank.
- the cavity 23 makes it possible to have enough cosmetic product on the applicator tip 10 which ensures that the user can apply make-up, in a single application without having to refill the applicator tip 10 with cosmetic product.
- This cavity 23, or space participates in authorizing the potential tilting of the application part 20 with respect to the support finger 15.
- the application part 20 is configured to pass from a rest position in which the support finger 15 and the proximal end 13 of the application part 20 are free of any contact towards a position of use. , in which the support finger 15 and/or the application part 20 bend so that the proximal end 13 of the application part 20 is at the point of entering or comes into contact with the support finger 15 and / or the support rod 40.
- the term “bend” means flexing, bending, deforming under pressure applied by a user and/or by a wiper. We mean by “on the point of” getting closer to, touching, on the edge of.
- the support finger 15 and/or the application part 20 are deformed so that the proximal end 13 of the application part 20 approaches of the support finger 15 and/or of the support rod 40.
- the bringing together can be done until the proximal end 13 of the application part 20 is in contact with the support finger 15 and/or of the support rod 40 or can stop before the proximal end 13 of the application part 20 comes into contact with the support finger 15 and/or the support rod 40.
- the application part 20 is flexible.
- This flexibility is notably provided by the fact that the application part 20 is hollow.
- the thickness of material between the applicator surface 22 and the internal wall 21 is chosen so that the application part 20 is sufficiently flexible to be able to be crushed, in particular during application on the lips. .
- the material thickness can be variable. In other words, the material thickness can vary along the X axis in the direction of a component of the Y and Z axes, as will be seen later in the various embodiments.
- the material of the application part 20 is also chosen according to the desired flexibility. These include materials known for their flexibility and elasticity, such as thermoplastic elastomers (TPE), butadiene-acrylonitrile copolymers, also called “nitrile rubbers” (NBR), silicones, and more preferably thermoplastic elastomers (TPE).
- TPE thermoplastic elastomers
- NBR nitrile rubbers
- silicones and more preferably thermoplastic elastomers (TPE).
- the support finger 15 may not be completely enveloped by the application part 20.
- a part of the support finger 15, called the intermediate part 17 may not be enveloped by the application part 20.
- This intermediate part 17 is also not embedded in the support rod 40.
- the applicator tip 10 can advantageously be obtained by injection, bi-injection, assembly or overmoulding.
- the support finger 15 and the sleeve 14 have a section, in particular transverse to the main direction X, of substantially cylindrical shape whose diameter d15 is between 1.5 and 3 mm depending on the flexibility and the desired material, preferably the diameter is at least equal to 1.5 mm, and even more preferably equal to 2mm.
- the application part 20 comprises at least one slot (not shown). These may be, for example, holes, perforations or openings made for example in the wall of the application part 20. These openings may be used to restore the product contained in the cavity 23 during application or even to improve the wiping of the application part 20, the surplus product being able to come out through these slots during the wiping, for example.
- the application part 20 and the fixing part 11 can be a single part ( figures 1 to 3 ) or two separate rooms ( figures 4 to 6 ) and the support finger 15 can be considered flexible or rigid.
- the latter advantageously comprises an elastomeric material, in particular an elastomer whose hardness is greater than or equal to approximately 40 Shore A. Indeed, a hardness of less than 40 Shore A would cause an application part 20, resulting from material with the fixing part 11, which would be difficult to inject and too flexible.
- too flexible we mean here that at the time of use of the tip 10, and more precisely at the time of extraction of the tip 10 and its spin-drying, there would be a risk that the application part 20 can turn around and the tip 10 becomes unusable.
- the elastomeric material will advantageously have a hardness of between approximately 40 Shore A and approximately 90 Shore A, the limits of this interval being understood.
- the attachment part 11 and the application part 20 are a single piece.
- the fixing part 11 and the application part 20 are made of an identical material.
- an elastomeric material such as thermoplastic elastomers (TPE), butadiene-acrylonitrile copolymers, also called “nitrile rubbers” (NBR), silicones, preferably a thermoplastic elastomer (TPE).
- the cavity 23 is in the form of a hollow cylinder, the hollow corresponding to the support finger 15 which is solid.
- the internal wall 21 of the application part 20 is coaxial with the axis X and with the support finger 15 in the rest position.
- said cavity is a hollow, in the form of a volume of revolution, around a support finger, delimited by the internal walls and the support finger and forming a reservoir.
- the applicator part goes around the support finger, in particular over the entire periphery of said finger.
- the cavity 23 has a constant distance d23, of the order for example of 0.7 to 1.5 mm.
- the thickness of material between the internal wall 21 and the external wall 22 of the application part 20 is variable along the axis X in the direction of a component of the axes Y and Z.
- the outer wall 22 having an oval shape when the user looks at the end piece from the side and the inner wall 21 being coaxial with the X axis, the material thickness is variable along the X axis in the direction of a component of the Y and Z axes and thus has a maximum thickness at the level of the maximum diameter d of the application part 20, of the order for example of 1.7 mm.
- This additional thickness makes it possible to have the curved part of the applicator surface 22 more resistant to the pressure exerted by the user at the time of application to the lips and better control of the application of the cosmetic product.
- variable thickness of material between the internal wall 21 and the external wall 22 confers a certain rigidity on the application part. Therefore, advantageously the support finger 15 is flexible.
- the support finger 15 has a certain flexibility so that the support finger 15 and consequently the application part 20 are rotatable relative to the support rod 40 and to the sleeve 14 (the sleeve 14 being embedded in the support rod 40), in particular along at least two axes of an orthonormal reference.
- This orthonormal reference is, for example, centered at a point in the main direction X.
- the two axes are for example the axes identified Y, Z on the figures 1 to 6 .
- the mobility of the application part 20 with respect to said sleeve 14 has the advantage of conferring on said applicator tip 10 an ability to adapt to a large public wishing to use it to apply make-up with it.
- This embodiment has two positions of use visible to the figures 2 and 3 .
- the support finger 15 remains straight, that is to say in alignment with the sleeve 14 and the support rod 40 and therefore with the axis X, and only the zone where the pressure is exerted flattens and approaches the support finger 15 at the level of the proximal end 13 of the application part.
- This bringing together can be done until the proximal end 13 of the application part 20 is in contact with the support finger 15, as is the case here.
- This position of use called the first position of use, is visible at the figure 2 .
- This position of use can also be observed when a pressure is exerted at the level of the proximal end 13 of the application part 20, allowing a pivoting of the application part 20, so that the proximal end 13 of the application part 20 either at the point of entering or comes into contact with the support finger 15.
- This position makes it possible to apply the cosmetic product to a lip delicately and in one piece, in particular because the pressure allows the release of the cosmetic product contained in the cavity 23.
- the possibility of deformation of the application zone allows the applicator tip 10 to adapt to all lips.
- the proximal end 13 of the application part 20 and the support finger 15 come closer together but without coming into contact.
- a localized pressure leads to a deformation of the application zone.
- localized pressure at the location of the proximal end 13 shifts the application part 20 towards the support finger 15.
- the applicator tip of the invention adapts all the more to the area to be made up as the application part 20 is capable of shifting as soon as it is pushed, touched, pressed, even very locally.
- the user exerts a more pronounced pressure on the tip 10 or a localized pressure rather towards the distal end 16 of the application part 20 and the support finger 15 which is flexible deforms.
- the support finger 15 is no longer in alignment with the sleeve 14 and the support rod 40.
- the support finger 15 and therefore the application part 20 are inclined with respect to the axis X.
- the internal wall 21 of the application part 20 is in contact with the support finger 15, in particular at the pressure point.
- the proximal end 13 of the application part 20 is in contact with the support rod 40.
- This second position of use allows greater application of the product. It also makes it possible to restore the remaining product contained in the cavity 23 at the end of application and avoids having to refill the tip 10 by immersing it in the container 50.
- the deformation of the application zone allows the 10 applicator tip to adapt to all lips.
- a localized pressure causes a deformation of the support finger 15.
- localized pressure at the distal end 16 of the application part 20 will cause the applicator assembly to shift.
- the applicator tip of the invention adapts all the more to the area to be made up as the application part 20 is capable of shifting as soon as it is pushed, touched, pressed, even very locally.
- the attachment part 11 and the application part 20 are two separate parts.
- the attachment part 11 and the application part 20 can thus be made of different materials. This facilitates the choice of materials whose mechanical, aesthetic, necessary properties may differ for the application part 20 and the fixing part 11. It is thus possible to choose a flexible and soft material for the application part 20 and a material more rigid for the attachment part 11.
- the two materials must be compatible to ensure durable and strong attachment between the application part 20 and the attachment part 11 which are two separate parts. It may thus preferably be thermoplastic elastomers (TPE), butadiene-acrylonitrile copolymers, also called “nitrile rubbers” (NBR), silicones for the application part 20.
- TPE thermoplastic elastomers
- NBR nonitrile rubbers
- thermoplastic elastomers TPE
- NBR butadiene-acrylonitrile copolymers
- silicones silicones
- the fixing part 11 can also be made of thermoplastic material such as polypropylene (PP), polyethylene terephthalate (PET) or poly-oxo-methylene (POM).
- PP polypropylene
- PET polyethylene terephthalate
- POM poly-oxo-methylene
- the fixing part 11 and the rod 40 may be in the form of a single piece (not shown).
- the fixing part 11 and the rod 40 will be made of thermoplastic material such as polypropylene (PP), polyethylene terephthalate (PET) or poly-oxo-methylene (POM).
- PP polypropylene
- PET polyethylene terephthalate
- POM poly-oxo-methylene
- said cavity is also a hollow, in the form of a volume of revolution, around a support finger, delimited by the internal walls and the support finger and forming a reservoir.
- the applicator part goes around the support finger, in particular over the entire periphery of said finger.
- the thickness e20 of the application part 20 is constant over the entire length of the support finger 15 along the axis X. It is of the order of 0.7 mm, for example.
- the flexibility of the applicator surface 22 is thus identical at all points of the application part 20, facilitating the use of the applicator tip 10.
- the uniformity of the thickness of the wall of the application part 20 leads to variability in the thickness of the cavity 23. Consequently, the cavity 23 has a maximum thickness at the level of the maximum diameter d of the application part 20, of the order for example of 0.7 to 1.5 mm.
- the volume of the cavity 23 is thus increased and a greater quantity of cosmetic product can be stored. A larger surface can be made up in one go without having to restock the product.
- An extra thickness can be envisaged at the level of the attachment point F, that is to say at the level of the distal end 16 of the application part 20.
- This extra thickness of the order of 3 mm for example, allows to reinforce the attachment between the application part 20 and the support finger 15. Otherwise, the wall being thicker, it is more difficult to tear and more resistant to multiple manipulations.
- the thickness of material between the internal wall 21 and the external wall 22 is constant and confers flexibility on the application part 20 which deforms more easily.
- the fixing part 11 can thus be rigid, both at the level of the sleeve 14 and at the level of the support finger 15, without the applicator tip 10 losing comfort of use.
- the application part 20 remains in alignment with the sleeve 14 and the support rod 40.
- the support pin 15 and consequently the application part 20 are therefore no longer mobile in rotation relative to the support rod. 40 and sleeve 14.
- the position of use shown in figure 5 corresponds to the first position of use of the first embodiment in which only the application part 20 deforms on the side of the pressure point, here until the proximal end 13 is in contact with the support finger 15
- the support pin (15) remains straight, that is to say in alignment with the sleeve 14 and the support rod 40 and therefore with the axis X, and only the zone where the pressure is exerted is crushed and comes, here, to touch the support finger 15 at the level of the proximal end 13 of the application part.
- the proximal end 13 of the application part 20 and the support finger 15 it is possible for the proximal end 13 of the application part 20 and the support finger 15 to approach but without coming into contact.
- the figure 6 represents a position of use, called the third position of use, in which two opposite sides of the application part 20 are deformed. This position allows example of making up both lips at the same time and also of exerting pressure on the entire volume of the cavity 23 and thus of restoring all the product stored in this cavity 23.
- This second embodiment ( figures 4 to 6 ), has at least two positions of use, thus making it possible to apply make-up to a single lip or both and to restore more or less of the product contained in the cavity 23 depending on the pressure exerted on the application part 20. At the end of application, if product is still needed, greater pressure can be exerted to force the remaining product out of cavity 23.
- the third position of use is also possible in the first embodiment.
- the support finger 15 can be flexible and the position of use, called the second position of use, of the first example, can be envisaged.
- the figure 7 illustrates an applicator assembly for a cosmetic product, comprising a container 50 comprising a body 51 forming a reservoir intended to contain the cosmetic product, and an applicator comprising a tip 10 such as that of the first example embodiment described above.
- the applicator is adapted to be fixed on the container 50, so that the applicator tip 10 is housed inside the reservoir. He is thus immersed in the cosmetic product marked 80 on the figure 7 .
- the figure 7 also illustrates the sleeve 14 assembled with a support rod 40 of the applicator.
- Stem 40 allows, among other things, manipulation of said applicator tip 10. More specifically, the applicator comprises a cap 70 adapted to be handled by the user and stem 40 advantageously extends from cap 70.
- the stopper 70 is formed of a head 71 resulting from material with the rod 40, and of a cover 72 mounted by force and held in position on the head 71 of rod 40 using internal counter-forms intended to cooperate with forms made on the head 71.
- the cover 72 is rigid.
- the term “rigid” is understood to mean that it cannot be deformed either at atmospheric pressure or at pressure exerted by the fingers of a user. It is with the aid of said cover 72 that the user manipulates the applicator of the invention, in particular because the cover 72 imparts the movement that the user gives it to the head 71 of the rod 40, which -even transmits this movement to the sleeve 14 with which it is assembled.
- the stopper 70 is intended to be removably attached to a neck 52 belonging to the container 50 (see figure 7 for the assembled version and figure 8 for the exploded version).
- the sleeve 14 and the rod 40 each have a substantially cylindrical shape and a main direction of longitudinal extension coinciding with the main direction X.
- the assembly between the sleeve 14 and the rod 40 is an embedding.
- the applicator tip may be molded onto or through the rod.
- the figure 8 is an exploded view of the applicator assembly of the figure 7 .
- the figure 8 illustrates container 50 in detail.
- the neck 52 comprises an opening through which the cosmetic product can be extracted, and a wiper 60, intended to be fixed inside said neck 52.
- the wiper 60 comprises a wiper orifice 61 configured to scrape the excess cosmetic product on the rod 40 and on the applicator tip 10 when the latter pass through it.
- Wiping orifice 61 is advantageously cylindrical in shape; this choice is not limiting and any other shape of orifice 61 may be chosen for the wiper 60 without departing from the scope of the invention.
- the diameter d61 of said wiping orifice will advantageously be chosen in relation to the diameter D of the rod 40 and the small diameter d of the applicator tip 10 from which it scrapes off the excess product on board.
- the diameter D of the rod is comparable to the small diameter d of the application part 20.
- the application part 20 here has a circular cross section and therefore a diameter d, said two diameters D, d are advantageously connected by the following formula: 0.9 ⁇ d / D ⁇ 1.5 .
- the diameter D of the rod 40 could be equal to 6.3 mm and the diameter d of the application part 20, to 7.5 mm. This means, moreover, that the diameter D of the rod will be substantially the same, or even substantially smaller than that of the application part 20.
- the diameter d61 of the wiping orifice 61 is substantially the same as that of the rod 40. This has the advantage of scraping the product on the applicator tip 10, and in particular of scraping the product on the application part 20 of said applicator tip 10.
- An additional advantage of the presence of the cavity 23 consists in limiting the effort required to extract the applicator from the container and more particularly the effort required to extract the application part 20 from the wiping orifice 61 , since the cavity 23 allows some deformation of the application part.
- the applicator assembly is designed such that the wiping of the application part 20 is optimized during its extraction from the container 50.
- the cosmetic product that the application part 20 is able to embark is scraped in an optimized manner by the wiper 60 through which it passes during its extraction from said container 50.
- the invention advantageously relates to a said applicator assembly whose reservoir 50 is filled with cosmetic product, the product being in particular intended for making up the lips of a user.
- the application part 20 can be smooth. It should be noted, by way of an alternative not excluded from the invention, that the application part 20 may have flocking on its surface, the flocking comprising in particular cotton or nylon. According to another variant, the application part 20 may comprise grooves, in particular of shallow depth, in particular of 200 to 300 micrometers.
- the flocking allows better retention of cosmetic product and a softer touch.
- the diameter of the application part 20 provided with the flocking is greater by 0.3 to 2.6 mm depending on the flocking chosen.
- the applicator tip 10 will have a height h10 of the order of 22 mm (see figure 8 ) measured between the distal end 16 of the application part 20 and a proximal end 18 of the sleeve 14, along the main direction X.
- the sleeve 14 of said applicator tip 10 is no longer visible, because it is embedded in the rod 40, in particular at the free end of the latter.
- the visible applicator tip 10 is then the application part 20 and the intermediate part 17 of the support finger 15.
- the height h'10 of these two visible elements, measured along the main direction X is of the order of 12.5 mm.
- the applicator tip according to the invention is of simple and modular manufacture. Indeed, thanks in particular to the design of the application part 20, different positions of use are possible. It is thus possible to modulate the application of the cosmetic product by combining the flexibility of the application part 20 and of the support finger 15 and by exerting either discreet pressure, or more marked pressure, on one or both lips at the same time. . A tip is thus obtained that adapts to all users and their makeup methods with ease of use.
- the presence of the cavity 23 makes it possible to make up one or both lips in one piece without having to plunge the tip back into the container.
- the restitution of the product is improved and can be complete thanks to the flexibility of the application part 20. Pressure on the application part thus makes it possible to use the cosmetic product contained in the cavity 23 without needing to refill with product .
