Description

DESCRIPTION
AN IN- VEHICLE COATING WEDGE ASSEMBLY
Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to an in-vehicle coating wedge which is provided between the coatings mounted on the vehicle sheet metal and the vehicle sheet metal, and which prevents noise and vibration. Background of the Invention
There are coatings provided on the sheet metal in the vehicle and used aesthetically and functionally. Only painting process is performed on the sheet metal materials used in the vehicle outside the vehicle. The vehicle cabin has coatings in areas where the users can contact (door, roof, console parts, etc.). The coatings are provided on the sheet metal such that there will be a distance between the sheet metal and itself, and they are fixed on the sheet metal by extending towards the circumference. The coatings provided on the sheet metal hit the vehicle sheet metal while the vehicle is moving there is a force enabling the vehicle to move, and a disturbing noise is created with the effect of the vibration occurring. The said created disturbing noise affects the comfort of the driver and the passenger, and it also causes deformations to occur in connection areas of the coatings. In order to solve the vibration and the disturbing noise problem in the current technique, the distance between the vehicle sheet metal and the coating is increased. However, the structure with larger gap takes more place in the vehicle and causes the area of use to decrease. Furthermore, breaks can occur due to the larger gap in impacts that can occur. In a different technique developed for the vibration and disturbing noise problem, surrounding cord is applied between the parts where the vehicle sheet metal contacts the coating. The developed cord placing method increases cost, and it is a very difficult process in terms of time and labor.
United States Patent Document no US5588683A, an application known in the state of the art, discloses a clip mechanism developed in order to prevent vibration between the components used in motor vehicles. In the said invention, the mechanism positioned between pipes or similar vehicle parts which are not wanted to vibrate relative to each other comprises a flexible bridge member, and this member absorbs the vibrations and the noise etc. that can occur are eliminated.
The Problems Solved with the Invention
The objective of the present invention is to provide an in-vehicle coating wedge assembly which enables to prevent and absorb the vibration occurring between the vehicle sheet metal and the coatings. Another objective of the present invention is to provide an in-vehicle coating wedge assembly which has an area where the wedge can be placed by forming a protruding surface on the coating.
A further objective of the present invention is to provide an in-vehicle coating wedge assembly which enables to form a barrier by entering between the coating and the coating plate and which a channel groove thereon preventing the vibration.
Detailed Description of the Invention An in-vehicle coating wedge assembly developed to fulfill the objective of the present invention is illustrated in the accompanying figures, in which:
Figure 1 is the front view of the in-vehicle coating wedge assembly before the wedge is mounted.
Figure 2 is the front view of the in-vehicle coating wedge assembly after the wedge is mounted.
Figure 3 is the front view of the mounting state of the wedge and the coating in the in-vehicle coating wedge assembly.
Figure 4 is the perspective front view of wedge member of the in-vehicle coating wedge assembly.
The components given in the figures are individually numbered where the numbers refer to the following:
1. Absorption assembly
2. Coating contact extension
21. Protrusion
3. Wedge
31. Recess
32. Channel groove
4. Adhesive material
5. Sheet Metal
K. Coating
The absorption assembly (1), which is provided between the coatings (K) mounted on the vehicle sheet metal (S) and the vehicle sheet metal (S) and which prevents noise and vibration, essentially comprises
at least one coating contact extension (2) which extends from the coating (K) in the vehicle towards the body sheet metal (S),
- at least one protrusion (21) which extends from the coating contact extension (2) towards the sheet metal (S) in an angular way, at least one wedge (3) which forms a barrier between the coating contact extension (2) and the in- vehicle body sheet metal (S) and which comprises • at least one recess (31) in which the protrusion (21) on the coating contact extension (2) can fit,
· at least one channel groove (32) which is in form of a hole parallel to the sheet metal (S) surface and which absorbs the incoming vibrations, at least one adhesive material (4) which is provided on the surface of the protrusion (21) contacting the recess (31) and enables the wedge (3) to hold onto the coating contact extension (2).
The inventive absorption assembly (1) is comprised of at least one coating contact extension (2) extending from the points of the coating (K) provided on the vehicle sheet metal (S) that will generate vibration by contacting the sheet metal (S) towards the vehicle body sheet metal (S), at least one protrusion (21) extending from the coating contact extension (2) towards the sheet metal (S) from a different angle, a recess (31) in which the protrusion (21) fits, and a wedge (3).
The inventive absorption assembly (1) is provided between the vehicle inner body metal sheet (S) and the coating (K) on the sheet metal (S). The vibrations generated while the vehicle is moving or the vibrations generated as a result of a force coming on the coating (K) are transferred to the coating contact extension (2) extending from the coating (K). The vibrations coming on the coating contact extension (2) are transferred to the wedge (3) before directly contacting the sheet metal (S). The generated vibration is absorbed by means of the flexibility of the wedge (3). In cases wherein the vibration is intense, the vibration is transferred onto the channel groove (32) provided on the wedge (3), and the channel groove (32) increases the flexibility of the wedge (3), thereby enabling the intense vibration to be absorbed. In the inventive absorption assembly (1), the channel groove (32) provided on the wedge (3) enables the flexibility capacity of the wedge (3) to be increased. The channel groove (32) preferably extends parallel onto the vehicle body sheet metal (S) in the wedge (3), and enables the wedge (3) to perform flexing movement inside the channel groove (32) as a result of the incoming forces. There is a protrusion (21) extending from the coating contact extension (2) so that the wedge (3) provided on the inventive absorption assembly (1) can be attached on the coating (K). When the wedge (3) is wanted to be attached on the coating contact extension (2), the protrusion (21) engages inside the recess (31) on the wedge (3). By means of the engagement process, the wedge (3) is fixed between the vehicle body sheet metal (S) and the coating (K).
In one embodiment of the invention, the wedge (3) has a flexibility feature. By means of flexibility feature, the vibrations occurring on the vehicle inner coatings (K) are transferred to the sheet metal (S) with minimum force via the flexing movements of the wedge (3), and the noise generated due to vibration is eliminated.
In one embodiment of the invention, the wedge (3) part has a plastic structure. By means of the formed plastic structure, flexibility and elasticity features are provided for the wedge (3).
In one embodiment of the invention, an adhesive material (4) is used which prevents the displacement of wedge (3) part after being attached on the coating contact extension (3). The adhesive material (4) is preferably provided on the part of the wedge (3) recess (31) contacting the protrusion (21), and it provides adhesion after the wedge (3) is attached to the coating contact extension (2), and thus the wedge (3) is enabled to be fixed.
