Abstract
Description
- The present invention relates to a powder puff assembly, and more particularly, to a powder puff assembly with a puff normally in contact with cosmetic powder received in the cosmetic powder case which is biased by a resilient member.
- The conventional powder puff assembly generally includes a base, a puff and a cover, wherein the base receives a cosmetic powder case therein which filled with cosmetic power. The puff is put on the cosmetic powder case, and the cover is threadedly connected to the base. When in use, the cover is removed from the base, and the puff attached with the cosmetic powder is then applied to the skin of desired positions.
- However, the user applies different levels of force to press the puff onto the cosmetic powder, so that the cosmetic powder is not evenly attached to the puff during each time of use. The uneven amount of the cosmetic powder on the puff makes the application to be not well controlled.
- The present invention intends to provide a powder puff assembly wherein the puff is normally in contact with the cosmetic powder when the cover is mounted to the base, so as to improve the shortcomings mentioned above.
- The present invention relates to a powder puff assembly and comprises a base having a recess defined therein. The base has an open top which communicates with the recess. A puff is received in the recess. A cover has a room defined therein which communicates with the open bottom of the cover. The open bottom faces the open top of the base when the cover is connected to the base. A case is received in the room, and cosmetic powder received in the case. A resilient member axially biased between the inner end of the room and the case so that the case is movable within the recess.
- When the cover is mounted to the base, the case is moved to compress axially the resilient member, and the puff is in contact with the cosmetic powder in the case. When the cover is removed from the base, the puff is separated from the cosmetic powder. The resilient member is released and the case is pushed by the resilient member.
- Preferably, at least one guide portion is formed on the inner periphery of the room of the cover. The case includes a guide member which is located corresponding to the at least one guide portion. The case is moved axially by the at least one guide portion.
- Preferably, there are two guide portions which are located symmetrically to each other.
- Preferably, the at least one guide portion includes a flat face and an inclined face which is located opposite to the flat face. The flat face extends radially and outward from the outer periphery of the case. The flat face faces the open bottom of the cover. The guide portion includes a flange which is located corresponding to the flat face. When the cover is removed from the base, the resilient member is released, and the flat face contacts the flange.
- Preferably, the case includes a positioning portion. The resilient member has one end thereof contacting the positioning portion.
- Preferably, an outer periphery of the puff protrudes beyond the open top of the recess of the base when the cover is removed from the base.
- Preferably, a center top of the puff is higher than the outer periphery of the puff.
- Preferably, the puff has a dome-shaped top.
- Preferably, the recess includes a seat on which the case is put.
- Preferably, a first connection portion is formed on the open top of the base. The cover includes a second connection portion which is connected to the first connection portion.
- The advantages of the present invention are that, when the cover is mounted to the base, the puff contacts the cosmetic powder, and the case is resiliently moved axially and the resilient member is compressed. The resilient member keeps the contact between the puff and the cosmetic powder.
- When removing the cover from the base to use the present invention, because the puff is not in contact with the cosmetic powder, and the case is moved in the direction away from the resilient member so that the resilient member is released. The case moves toward the open bottom of the room, and the flat face contacts the flange so that the case does not drop from the cover.
- When the user use the puff to touch the cosmetic powder and pushes the puff to the cosmetic powder, the case is resiliently and axially movable in the room to compress the resilient member, so that the cosmetic powder is evenly attached on the puff. The user can evenly apply the cosmetic powder to the skin. Because the puff has a dome-shaped top so that the puff can perfectly touch the face and the dome-shaped top is easily to control.
- The present invention will become more obvious from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings which show, for purposes of illustration only, a preferred embodiment in accordance with the present invention.

Figs. 1 to 3 , the powder puff assembly of the present invention comprises abase 1 having arecess 11 defined therein. Thebase 1 has anopen top 111 which communicates with therecess 11. Apuff 12 or a sponge is received in therecess 11. Thepuff 12 can be secured in therecess 11 by adherent. Therecess 11 includes aseat 13 on which thecase 13 is put. Theouter periphery 12a of thepuff 12 protrudes beyond theopen top 111 of therecess 11 of thebase 1 when thecover 2 is removed from thebase 1. Thecenter top 12b of thepuff 12 is higher than theouter periphery 12a of thepuff 12, and thepuff 12 has a dome-shaped top. - A
cover 2 has aroom 21 defined therein which communicates with theopen bottom 211 of thecover 2. Theopen bottom 211 faces theopen top 111 of thebase 1 when thecover 2 is connected to thebase 1. Each of thebase 1 and thecover 2 is a cylindrical member. Afirst connection portion 14 is formed on theopen top 111 of thebase 1, and thecover 2 includes asecond connection portion 22 which is connected to thefirst connection portion 14. The first andsecond connection portions case 23 is received in theroom 21, andcosmetic powder 231 received in thecase 23. Thecosmetic powder 231 can be in a form of pressed powder or any suitable cosmetic material. Aresilient member 24, such as a compression spring, is axially biased between the inner end of theroom 21 and thecase 23 so that thecase 23 is movable within therecess 21. At least oneguide portion 212 is formed on the inner periphery of theroom 21 of thecover 2. In this embodiment, there are twoguide portions 212 which are located symmetrically to each other. Thecase 23 includes aguide member 232 which is located corresponding to the at least oneguide portion 212. Thecase 23 is moved axially by the at least oneguide portion 212. The at least oneguide portion 212 includes aflat face 232a and aninclined face 232b which is located opposite to theflat face 232a. Theflat face 232a extends radially and outward from the outer periphery of thecase 23. Theflat face 232a faces theopen bottom 211 of thecover 2. Theguide portion 212 includes aflange 212a which is located corresponding to theflat face 232a. When thecove 2 is removed from thebase 1, theresilient member 24 is released, and theflat face 232a contacts theflange 212a. Thecase 23 includes apositioning portion 233, and theresilient member 24 has one end thereof contacting thepositioning portion 233. - As shown in
Fig. 3 , when thecover 2 is mounted to thebase 1, due to that thepuff 12 is made by resilient material, thepuff 12 contacts thecosmetic powder 231. Thecase 23 is moved to compress axially theresilient member 24, and thepuff 12 is in contact with thecosmetic powder 231 in thecase 23. - As shown in
Fig. 4 , when thecover 2 is removed from thebase 1, thepuff 12 is separated from thecosmetic powder 231, theresilient member 24 is released and thecase 23 is pushed by theresilient member 24 and moves toward theopen bottom 211 of theroom 21. Theflat face 232a contacts theflange 212a to prevent thecase 23 from dropping off. - As shown in
Fig. 5 , when the use applies a force to thepuff 12 to press thecosmetic powder 231, thecase 23 is moved within theroom 21 by the resilient feature of theresilient member 24. Thecosmetic powder 231 is able to be evenly attached to thepuff 12. When thepuff 12 is moved away from thecosmetic powder 231, theflat face 232a contacts theflange 212a so that the user can attach thecosmetic powder 231 to thepuff 12 properly. Thepuff 12 has a dome-shaped top so that thepuff 12 is able to perfectly touch the face and the dome-shaped top is easily to control. - It is noted that if the
resilient member 24 is installed in therecess 11 of thebase 1 to bias thepuff 12, when the user holds thebase 1 and touch thecosmetic powder 231 by thepuff 12, the force is not easily controlled so that the cosmetic powder cannot be evenly attached to thepuff 12. When puffing thepuff 12 on the face, theresilient member 24 will be compressed improperly and the angle and force to thepuff 12 are not easily controlled. Therefore, theresilient member 24 is installed in thecover 2 and biases thecase 23. - While we have shown and described the embodiment in accordance with the present invention, it should be clear to those skilled in the art that further embodiments may be made without departing from the scope of the present invention.
Claims (10)
- A powder puff assembly comprising:a base having a recess defined therein, the base having an open top which communicates with the recess, a puff received in the recess;a cover having a room defined therein which communicates with an open bottom of the cover, the open bottom facing the open top of the base when the cover is connected to the base, a case received in the room, cosmetic powder received in the case, a resilient member axially biased between an inner end of the room and the case so that the case is movable within the recess, andwhen the cover is mounted to the base, the case is moved to compress axially the resilient member, and the puff is in contact with the cosmetic powder in the case, when the cover is removed from the base, the puff is separated from the cosmetic powder, the resilient member is released and the case is pushed by the resilient member.
- The powder puff assembly as claimed in claim 1, wherein at least one guide portion formed on an inner periphery of the room of the cover, the case includes a guide member which is located corresponding to the at least one guide portion, the case is moved axially by the at least one guide portion.
- The powder puff assembly as claimed in claim 2, wherein there are two guide portions which are located symmetrically to each other.
- The powder puff assembly as claimed in claim 2, wherein the at least one guide portion includes a flat face and an inclined face which is located opposite to the flat face, the flat face extends radially and outward from an outer periphery of the case, the flat face faces the open bottom of the cover, the guide portion includes a flange which is located corresponding to the flat face, when the cover is removed from the base, the resilient member is released, and the flat face contacts the flange.
- The powder puff assembly as claimed in claim 1, wherein the case includes a positioning portion, the resilient member has one end thereof contacting the positioning portion.
- The powder puff assembly as claimed in claim 1, wherein an outer periphery of the puff protrudes beyond the open top of the recess of the base when the cover is removed from the base.
- The powder puff assembly as claimed in claim 6, wherein a center top of the puff is higher than the outer periphery of the puff.
- The powder puff assembly as claimed in claim 1, wherein the puff has a dome-shaped top.
- The powder puff assembly as claimed in claim 1, wherein the recess includes a seat on which the case is put.
- The powder puff assembly as claimed in claim 1, wherein a first connection portion is formed on the open top of the base, the cover includes a second connection portion which is connected to the first connection portion.
