Definitions
- the invention relates to the field of belaying and climbing, particularly along a vertical cable.
- the invention relates more specifically to devices allowing a user to be held in a vertical position during the ascent of a vertical cable.
- harness The professionals working at height as well as the sportsmen in height sports generally protect themselves against the falls by means of a harness, connected to at least a cable.
- a harness consists of a lap belt, thighs joined on a ventral part and on a dorsal part by means of straps provided for this purpose.
- this type of harness called harness, mainly closes an area located in the vicinity of the user's pelvis, and is ideal for the use of sports such as climbing.
- additional straps are provided, for example at the shoulders or sternum of the user.
- the harness By making it possible to secure itself by attaching itself securely with a cable, the harness provides an essential security for the users moving at great height, but its use is not without drawbacks.
- such a harness allows a better distribution of the gravity efforts exerted by the user on the harness.
- the number of compression points a factor in the occurrence of a harness syndrome, is limited for the members of the individual in suspension with the use of such a harness, compared to a harness or harness. conventional without saddles.
- the duration of suspension without risk of occurrence of a syndrome of the harness is thus increased. Nevertheless, the risk of developing discomfort is not completely eliminated. In addition, nothing prevents a backward tilting of the user if such a situation occurs.
- Self-locking devices are devices able to slide along one or more cables, surrounded by the self-locking, in one direction, and able to lock on the cable or cables in a second direction.
- the cables are generally made of vegetable fibers, synthetic fibers or metal wires. Conventionally, the self-locking is achieved by a simple cord surrounding the cable, a part comprising teeth adapted to anchor in the cable, or a device comprising a set of rollers and springs.
- the individual slides, along the cable, upwards, a first self-locking connected to a first part of his body, for example the torso, while relying on a second self-blocking connected to a second part of his body, for example the feet.
- the individual then rest his weight on the first self-locking, and slide along the cable, upwards, the second self-locking.
- the document US 2015/0251057 (FRANKENHAUSER ET AL. ) describes a climbing system along a vertical cable, comprising a first self-blocking secured to a first foot of a first leg of an individual by means of an ascending device, and a second self-locking directly solidarity with a second foot of the individual.
- the ascension device comprises a sheath, able to work in tension, defining at a first end a stirrup, in which the individual inserts his first foot.
- the sheath is provided, at a second end, opposite the first end, of a fastening system to the first self-locking.
- the ascension device also comprises an elastic cord, present inside the sheath, and secured to the first end of the sheath and a pulley sliding on the cable, connected to the torso of the individual.
- Such an ascension device effectively makes it possible to climb along a vertical cable by the sole force of the legs of the individual, the latter remaining in a vertical position, the feet directed downwards while freeing the hands of the child. 'individual.
- the elastic cord tending, the force generated by the individual must allow, in addition to lifting one's own weight, stretching the elastic cord.
- the elastic cord is constantly subjected to variable stresses, risking to modify its mechanical properties, by fatigue.
- the stability of the user is ensured only by the harness. However, in the case of the use of a harness, neither the torso nor the back are maintained, which makes it less easy to support the user in a vertical position.
- a first objective is to propose a system of ascension along a vertical cable, making it possible to maintain the individual in a vertical position without the help of the hands, feet directed downwards.
- a second objective is to propose a climbing system along a vertical cable, easy to use.
- a third objective is to provide such a climbing system, equipped with a climbing system requiring only the strength of the legs of the individual to climb.
- a climbing system along a main cable comprising a back support means intended to be secured to the back of a user
- the system ascension device further comprising a retaining means comprising a first end portion and a second end portion, the first end portion being intended to be integral with the back support means, the second end portion comprising a light for receiving the cable main, so that the second end portion can slide along the main cable
- the retaining means comprising a bar, the first end portion being a portion of the bar to be secured to the backing means, the second end portion comprising a sliding device.
- the ascent system allows to maintain an individual position along the main cable, which allows him to release the use of his hands, but also to avoid being in a position likely to lead to a syndrome of the harness .
- a climbing device along a main cable comprising a stirrup, the ascension device further comprising a holding element configured to be integral, at a first end, with the stirrup and intended to be secured, at a second end, a first self-blocking adapted to be arranged on the main cable, the holding element comprising a rod adapted to withstand a compressive force exerted between the first end and the second end, so as to slide the first self-locking along the main cable.
- the holding member thus allows an individual to mount the first self-blocking along the main cable using only a first foot inserted into the caliper.
- the holding member also allows an individual to ride along the main cable without using his or her upper limbs.
- a climbing system along a main cable comprising an ascent device as presented above, the ascension system comprising a first self-locking configured to be secured to the second end of the holding element.
- the system includes a footrest, configured to be secured to a second self-locking able to be arranged on the main cable.
- FIG. 1 to 5 a system 1 of ascension along a main cable 2 , according to a first embodiment.
- the climbing system 1 is intended to be worn by a user 3, as illustrated on the figures 5 and 6 .
- the main cable 2 as well as the other cables are made of plant fibers, synthetic or metal son.
- the main cable 2 is positioned substantially vertically, and fixed at its upper end.
- the user 3 is shown in the figures provided with a harness 4 of the shoulder-belt type, comprising a ventral band 5 connected to two turns 6 of thigh.
- the harness 4 comprises a saddle, disposed at the buttock of the user 3, so as to limit the appearance of pressure points, a factor promoting occurrence of a syndrome of the harness.
- the terms “longitudinal” or “longitudinally” refer to a direction coincident with the X axis
- the terms “transverse” or “transversely” refer to a direction coincides with the Y axis
- the terms “vertical” or “vertically” refer to a direction coincident with the Z axis.
- Absolute position terms such as “forward”, “backward”, “high” , “down”, “left”, “right”, or relative like “above”, “upper”, “below”, “lower” are defined with respect to the position of a user 3 on the main cable 2 , the positive direction of the Z axis is by going in the direction of ascending the user 3 along the main cable 2 .
- the ascension system 1 comprises a back support means 7 as well as a retaining means 8 .
- the retaining means 8 has a first portion 9 extreme, to be secured by means of back support 7.
- the retaining means 8 also comprises a second end portion 10 intended to receive the main cable 2 sliding.
- the means 7 of back support is secured to the back of the user 3, that is to say, able to accompany the movement of the back of the user 3. In this way, the means 7 of back support is constantly in contact with the back of the user 3, which allows to guide it in all circumstances, including in the case where the user 3 is a victim of a failure resulting in loss of consciousness, as shown on the figure 6 .
- the back support means 7 comprises a plate 11 provided with a front face 12 , intended to come into contact with the back of the user, and a rear face 13 , opposite the front face 12 .
- the plate 11 also has a sufficient rigidity not to deform in torsion along the Z axis, under the action of the bearing force exerted by the back of an adult user 3 .
- the backing means 7 comprises a reinforcement 14, intended to be positioned on the opposite side to that in contact with the back of the user 3.
- a reinforcement 14 prevents the torsion of the plate 11 along a vertical axis, allowing to increase the rigidity of the means 7 of back support.
- the plate 11 and the reinforcement 14 are for example made of aluminum alloy.
- materials such as carbon fiber or fiberglass are used.
- Such composite materials allow the plate 11 a warp of limited amplitude, giving a flexion movement to the plate along the Y axis at the level of the kidneys of the user, which improves its comfort when wearing the means 7 back support.
- the plate has a geometry matching the back, for example having a periphery 15 narrowed near the size of the user 3.
- the plate 11 then has in the vicinity of the shoulders and lumbar of the user 3 a width greater than the portion of the plate 11 intended to come into contact with the dorsal. In this way, the comfort of the user 3 is reinforced.
- the plate 11 is provided with a damping element, for example a padding in the form of a damping polymer foam, disposed between the means 7 of back support and the back of the user 3 .
- a damping element for example a padding in the form of a damping polymer foam.
- the back support means 7 is made integral with the back, by means of straps 16, fixed for example on the plate 11. In this way, the establishment and use of the system 1 ascension is simplified.
- the straps 16 are adjustable by the user 3. The means 7 of back support is then adaptable to the morphology of the user.
- the straps 16 are connected between using at least one adjustable sternal strap 17 .
- an additional fixation is obtained at the level of the user's chest 3.
- the adjustment makes it possible to adapt the means 7 of back support to the morphology of the user 3, while at the same time making it possible to increase the maintenance of the back of the user 3 against the means 8 of restraint.
- the means 7 of back support has a fastening belt 18 , able to surround the size of the user 3, offering the user 3 the possibility of dispensing with the use of a harness 4.
- a such fixing belt 18 allows to oppose the force exerted by the main cable 2 on the second part 10 end, and thus avoid any risk of tilting of the back support means 7 over the user 3.
- the fastening belt 18 is positioned above the ventral band 5 , and does not interfere with the harness 4, nor with any other device. ascent or descent.
- the establishment of the means 7 of back support by the user 3 is also not hampered by the use of the harness 4.
- the climbing system 1 comprises a means 19 for holding the head.
- the head and the neck of the user 3 are maintained, avoiding the extension of the head of the user 3, which can cause compression on the carotid sinus , and thus promote the occurrence of the harness syndrome 4.
- the back support means 7 conforms to the shape of the head, having dimensions similar to those of the head.
- the means 19 for holding the head is integral with the means 7 of back support, but according to other variants not shown, the means 19 for holding the head is assembled on the means 7 of back support.
- the means 19 for holding the head is provided with a damping element promoting comfort of use, and damping possible shocks on the fragile cervical area of the user 3.
- the climbing system 1 has a connecting device 20 , such as a spring ring, adapted to connect the harness 4 with the means 7 of back support.
- the connecting device 20 is disposed on the rear face 13 , preferably in a region located at the lumbar level, so as not to hinder the movements of the user 3.
- the means 7 of back support is thus able to be easily connected to the harness 4, which facilitates its implementation.
- such a connection between the backing means 7 and the harness 4 promotes the attachment of the back support means 7 on the back of the user 3, in particular in the vertical and horizontal direction.
- the means 7 of back support comprises additional connecting devices 20 , able to allow the attachment of tools, accessories, bags, or water bag.
- the retaining means 8 is intended to be secured to the backing means 7 , through the first part 9 extreme.
- the retaining means 8 is thus fixed to the rear support means 7 on the rear face 13 and is able to extend outside the back support means 7 , advantageously upwards.
- the second end portion 22 includes a slot 22 for receiving the main cable 2 .
- the light 22 is open, and comprises a closed contour adapted to form a closed loop 21 , shown in bold lines on the figure 3 .
- the closed loop 21 is able to be opened, in order to make the main cable 2 easily insertable or removable from this closed loop 21, which facilitates the mounting of the system 1 ascent.
- the main cable 2 is slidable along this lumen 22, leaving a functional clearance between the main cable 2 and the loop 21. In this way, a sliding pivot connection is formed between the main cable 2 and the cable 2.
- second part 10 extreme which allows the displacement of the user 3 along the main cable 2 .
- the ascension system 1 is able to protect the user 3 against the risk of a syndrome of the harness 4 consecutive, in case of loss of consciousness.
- the retaining means 8 comprises a bar 23 and a sliding device 24 , both linked by a quick coupling means, for example a carabiner 25.
- a quick coupling means for example a carabiner 25.
- a portion of the bar corresponding to the first 9 extreme part integral with the means 7 of back support.
- the 24 sliding device corresponding to the second extreme portion 10 of the means 8 incorporated.
- the retaining means 8 and the backing means 7 are slidably connected with the main cable 2 .
- the bar 23 advantageously has a tubular or polygonal section, for example rectangular, advantageously profiled to facilitate its obtaining.
- the bar 23 extends above the user's head 3, and defines a curvature configured so that the second extreme portion 10 to reach the main cable 2. Sufficient clearance is left between the head of the user 3 and the bar 23, so as to avoid any collision between the user 3 and the bar 23.
- the backing means 7 is for example provided with a hollow rod 26 , fixed on the back support means 7 , for example by welding, or by means of the reinforcement 14.
- the hollow rod 26 has a circular cross section, or polygonal, slightly greater than the cross section of the bar 23, making it able to slip into the hollow rod 26 .
- the bar 23 is advantageously adjustable relative to the hollow rod 26 .
- the bar 23 thus comprises first latching means, for example spring-loaded balls 27 , adapted to snap into second latching means, such as holes 28, arranged on the hollow rod 26 .
- first latching means for example spring-loaded balls 27
- second latching means such as holes 28, arranged on the hollow rod 26 .
- the implementation of the bar 23 fast, and achievable without tools.
- the holding system 1 is then removable and reassemblable by a single person.
- the sliding device 24 comprises a pulley 29 and a flange 30, both linked by the carabiner 25.
- the light 22 is formed by the rim of the pulley 29, the flange 30, and the carabiner 25.
- Such an arrangement facilitates the sliding of the main cable 2 relative to the bar 23, but also allows insertion or release of the main cable 2 within the light 22.
- the user 3 can therefore pick up the cable means 7 of back support, with respect to the main cable 2 , without scrolling the entire main cable 2 within the light 22.
- a single intervention on the carabiner 25, so as to achieve its opening, allows the attachment or the stall of the retaining means 8 relative to the pulley 29 and the flange 30.
- the establishment of the means 8 of retaining relative to the main cable 2 requires only a reduced number of movements.
- User implementation of the ascent system includes the following steps.
- the user puts on his back the means 7 of back support, in this case the plate 11.
- the user passes the main cable 2 within the light 22 provided for this purpose, that is to say in the device 24 sliding member, which connects to the means 8 retained by the carabiner 25.
- the user puts the rod 23 therein.
- the harness 4 is connected to the plate 11.
- the ascension system 1 as described above, is provided with a device 31 for ascending along a main cable 2 .
- the ascending device 31 comprises a stirrup 32 having a section with closed contours defining an opening 33 delimited by a lower side 34 and a facing upper side 35 , and lateral sides 36 which connect the lower side 34 to the upper side 35 .
- the stirrup 32 preferably comprises a clamping means 37 .
- the clamping means 37 comprises, according to the embodiments described, a female fastener 38 and a male fastener 39 , each connected to one of the lateral sides 36 .
- the female fastener 38 comprises a pawl closure 40 and the male fastener 39 comprises a notched strap 41 capable of coinciding with the pawl closure 40 .
- the upper side 35 of the stirrup 32 includes a carrier 42 defining fastening, according to the variants of the second embodiment shown, a first point 43 of fastener 44 and a second point of attachment.
- the ascending device 31 also comprises a holding element 45 configured to be integral, at a first end 46, with the first attachment point 43 of the stirrup 32.
- the holding member 45 comprises a rod 47.
- the rod 47 extends from the first end 46 to a second end 48 of the holding member 45 .
- the rod 47 has, for example, a general shape of circular section tube, or polygonal.
- the rod 47 comprises several segments 49 which, assembled end to end, define the general shape of the rod 47.
- the rod 47 is, according to the embodiment shown, divided into five segments.
- the rod 47 also includes sleeves 50 adapted to be arranged between each segment 49 and configured to assemble the segments 49 to each other.
- the sleeves 50 are capable, according to one embodiment, of centering the segments 49 with respect to one another. According to a different embodiment, the sleeves 50 are able to fix the segments 49 between them.
- the sleeves 50 and the segments 49 of the rod 47 form a monobloc element.
- the holding element 45 comprises an elastic cable 51 configured to be integral with the first end 46 and the second end 48 of the holding element 45 .
- the elastic cable 51 is disposed inside the segments 49 of the rod 47.
- the elastic cable 51 thus allows disassembly of the segments 49, as shown in FIG. figure 9 for a variant of the second embodiment of the ascension system 1, without mislaying a segment 49 and a quick assembly of segments 49 .
- the ascending device 31 comprises a traction cable 52 , configured to be integral, in a first end 53, of the second point 44 for fixing the stirrup 32.
- a user 3 desiring to climb upwards along the main cable 2 using a climbing device 31 as described above, secures the second end 48 of the holding element 45 and a second end 54 of the Cable 52 traction to a first self-locking 55.
- the first self-blocking 55 is disposed on the main cable 2 .
- the segments 49 of the ascension device 31 are previously assembled. Such a configuration is represented, for the variant of the second embodiment of the system 1 of ascension, on the figures 10 and 11 .
- the first self-locking device 55 is a device capable of sliding along the main cable 2 , surrounded by the first self-locking device 55, in one direction and able to lock on the main cable 2 in a second direction.
- the first self-locking 55 is achieved by a simple cord surrounding the cable, a part comprising teeth adapted to be anchored in the main cable 2 , or a device comprising a set of rollers and springs.
- the user 3 inserts a first foot 56 of a first leg 57 into the opening 33 of the stirrup 32.
- the first foot 56 rests on the lower side 34 of the stirrup 32 which, according to the illustrated embodiments, has a flat surface larger than the size of a surface of the upper side 35 and lateral sides 36.
- the user 3 thus has a large and stable support.
- the stirrup 32 is preferably made of a sufficiently rigid material, not to deform under the weight of the user 3 and its equipment.
- the first foot 56 of the user 3 is thus not compressed by the deformation of the stirrup 32, which reduces the compression points, for example during a malaise.
- the user then closes the three means 37 of the stirrup clamp 32 against the first leg 56, so as to secure the first leg 56 to the yoke 32.
- the risk of separation of the first leg 56 of the yoke 32 which can cause a limb in suspension is thus reduced.
- the user 3 inserts a second foot 58 of a second leg 59 into a footrest 60.
- the footrest 60 comprises a stirrup 32 identical to the stirrup 32 of the ascending device 31 .
- the footrest 60 is secured to a second self-locking 61 disposed on the main cable 2 .
- the user 3 bases his weight and that of his equipment on his first foot 56.
- the weight of the user 3 and his equipment is then supported by the first self-locking device 55, by means of the device 31 of ascension, the first self-locking 55 preventing a sliding of the first foot 56 along the main cable 2 .
- the ascending device 31 transmits the force exerted on the stirrup 32, downwards, to the first self-locking device 55 by means of, according to the second embodiment illustrated on FIGS. Figures 7 and 8 , the holding element 45 and the traction cable 52 , according to the variant of the second embodiment illustrated in FIGS. Figures 9 to 11 .
- the holding element 45 for the second embodiment, or the towing cable 52 , for the variant of the second embodiment, is thus able to withstand a tensile force, respectively exerted between the first end 46 and the second end 48 or the first end 53 and the second end 54, so as to block the first self-locking 55 and prevent slippage of the ascension device 31 along the main cable 2 .
- the user 3 then folds his second leg 59, sliding the second self-locking 61, upwards, along the main cable 2 and mount his second foot 58 and the footrest 60, secured to his second foot 58, along of the main cable 2 , as shown on the figure 10 .
- the user 3 then rest his weight and that of his equipment on his second foot 58.
- the weight of the user 3 and his equipment is then supported by the second self-locking 61, through the footrest 60, the second self-locking 61 preventing a sliding of the second foot 58 along the main cable 2 .
- the user 3 then folds his first leg 57, sliding the first self-locking 55, upwards, along the main cable 2 and mount his first foot 56 and the ascension device 31 , integral with his first foot 56, the along the main cable 2 , as shown on the figure 11 .
- the ascension device 31 transmits the force exerted on the stirrup 32, upwards, to the first self-locking device 55, via the rod 47 of the holding element 45 , integral with the first end 46 and the second end 46. end 48.
- the rod 47 is thus able to withstand a compressive force exerted between the first end 46 and the second end 48, so as to slide the first self-locking 55 along the main cable 2 .
- This rigidity combined with the back support means 7 and the retaining means 8 , gives the user 3 a position hold, enabling him to avoid being in a suspension situation, which is favorable for the appearance of a harness syndrome.
- a third self-locking device is arranged around the main cable 2 or around a belay cable, to prevent a fall of the user 3 if the first self-blocking 55, the second self-blocking 61 or both self-locking 55, 61 no longer provide their function of blocking the main cable 2 .
- the holding member 45 thus allows a user to climb along a main cable 2 arranged substantially vertically, the user 3 being in a substantially vertical position, the feet 56, 58 directed downwards.
- the holding member 45 allows a user 3 to mount the first self-locking 55 along the main cable 2 , using only his first foot 56 inserted in the stirrup 32.
- the holding member 45 also allows a user 3 to climb along the main cable 2 by the sole force of his legs 57, 59 without using his upper limbs.
- the ascension system 1 has applications in the work of cordists, or mountaineers of the building, cordist-nacellists, and more generally persons performing work at height, for industry, building, public works, events. eg during construction, repair, restoration, cleaning, control or expertise, brushing or cutting trees, installing systems safety or scaffolding, the installation of advertising tarpaulins, or even the work of fumiture, the laying of nets.
- the ascension system 1 also finds applications in sporting activities, for example climbing, caving, or in shooting activities during sporting events, or shooting in environments with difficult access, for example in cliffs. .
