  • the method includes at step 810 providing a sensing device mounted on a lance. At least a lower end of the lance is positioned or lowered into the molten bath towards a submerged position at step 820.
  • Sensed signals are generated in response to movement of the lance at step 830 and transmitted to a receiver at step 840.
  • the sensed signals are processed to determine at least the magnitude and direction of lance movement.
  • the magnitude and direction of lance movement is indicative of one or more operating conditions in the molten bath at step 860.
  • the method is iterative such that the sensed signals are either generated continuously, or at regular, or even random intervals to provide ongoing monitoring of the operating conditions in the molten bath.
  • the sensing device of the present invention confers various advantages and benefits to the operation of top-submerged lancing injector reactors.
  • the operation of the lance itself acts as a sensor to indicate the conditions in the molten bath by means of the sensing device.
  • By measuring lance motion various reactor operating characteristics are obtained and can be measured, recorded and compared with desirable or optimal plant operating conditions to enable corrective action to be taken in a timely manner responsive to sensed conditions which are sub optimal. Therefore the efficiency of the reactor can be optimised.

Claims (14)

  1. Système de réacteur à lance d'injection immergée par le haut (100), comprenant :
    un bain de fusion (116);
    une lance (114) déplaçable entre une position immergée et une position non immergée, ladite lance (114) ayant une extrémité inférieure (304) et une extrémité supérieure (306), ladite extrémité inférieure (304) étant configurée pour être abaissée dans le bain de fusion (116) en position immergée; et
    un dispositif de détection (302) monté sur la lance (114) et configuré pour détecter un ou plusieurs mouvements de, ou forces appliquées à, la lance (114) en position immergée, lesdits mouvements ou forces détectés indiquant un état de fonctionnement dans le bain de fusion (116).
  2. Système de réacteur à lance d'injection immergée par le haut (100) selon la revendication 1, dans lequel la lance (114) est montée sur un dispositif de levage opérable pour positionner la lance (114) entre la position immergée et la position non immergée, ladite lance (144) étant montée sur le dispositif de levage à un point intermédiaire entre l'extrémité inférieure (304) de la lance (114) et une extrémité supérieure (306) de la lance (114), ledit dispositif de détection (302) étant monté à proximité de l'extrémité supérieure (306) de la lance (114).
  3. Système de réacteur à lance d'injection immergée par le haut (100) selon la revendication 1 ou 2, dans lequel le dispositif de détection (302) est un capteur d'orientation.
  4. Système de réacteur à lance d'injection immergée par le haut (100) selon la revendication 1 ou 2, dans lequel le dispositif de détection (302) comprend un ou plusieurs parmi un accéléromètre, un gyroscope et un magnétomètre.
  5. Système de réacteur à lance d'injection immergée par le haut (100) selon l'une des revendications 1 à 4, comprenant également un récepteur configuré pour recevoir une pluralité de signaux détectés.
  6. Système de réacteur à lance d'injection immergée par le haut (100) selon la revendication 5, dans lequel le récepteur comprend un moyen de traitement configuré pour analyser les signaux détectés afin de déterminer au moins l'ordre de grandeur et le sens du mouvement de lance.
  7. Système de réacteur à lance d'injection immergée par le haut (100) selon la revendication 5, dans lequel le récepteur est communicativement couplé à une station de base située à distance comprenant un moyen de traitement configuré pour analyser des signaux afin de déterminer au moins l'ordre de grandeur et le sens du mouvement de lance.
  8. Système de réacteur à lance d'injection immergée par le haut (100) selon la revendication 6 ou 7, dans lequel le moyen de traitement génère une sortie pour indiquer visuellement l'état de fonctionnement du bain de fusion (116) en fonction des signaux détectes.
  9. Système de réacteur à lance d'injection immergée par le haut (100) selon la revendication 8, dans lequel la sortie a la forme d'une ou plusieurs représentations graphiques pour fournir un indicateur visuel du déplacement de la lance (114) dans au moins deux dimensions.
  10. Procédé de détermination d'un état de fonctionnement dans un bain de fusion (116) d'un système de réacteur à lance d'injection immergée par le haut (100), ledit procédé comprenant les étapes suivantes :
    prévoir un dispositif de détection (302) monté sur une lance (114);
    abaisser au moins une extrémité inférieure (304) d'une lance (114) dans le bain de fusion (116) vers une position immergée;
    générer un ou plusieurs signaux détectés en réponse à des mouvements et/ou forces agissant sur la lance (114) en position immergée; et
    transmettre les signaux détectés à un récepteur;
    traiter les signaux détectés pour déterminer au moins l'ordre de grandeur et le sens du mouvement de lance ou une force y appliquée;
    ledit ordre de grandeur et ledit sens du mouvement de lance ou ladite force appliquée à la lance (114) indiquant un état de fonctionnement dans le bain de fusion (116).
  11. Procédé de détermination d'un état de fonctionnement dans un bain de fusion (116) selon la revendication 10 dans lequel l'étape de traitement des signaux détectés pour déterminer au moins l'ordre de grandeur et le sens du mouvement de lance comprend la détermination d'un déplacement de la lance (114) dans les axes X, Y et Z.
  12. Procédé de détermination d'un état de fonctionnement dans un bain de fusion (116) selon la revendication 10 ou 11, dans lequel le traitement des signaux détectés pour déterminer au moins l'ordre de grandeur et le sens du mouvement de lance comprend la détermination d'une accélération de la lance (114).
  13. Procédé de détermination d'un état de fonctionnement dans un bain de fusion (116) selon la revendication 10 ou 11, dans lequel le traitement des signaux détectés pour déterminer au moins l'ordre de grandeur et le sens du mouvement de lance comprend la détermination d'un mouvement rotatif de la lance (114).
  14. Procédé de détermination d'un état de fonctionnement dans un bain de fusion (116) selon la revendication 10 ou 11, dans lequel le traitement des signaux détectés pour déterminer au moins l'ordre de grandeur et le sens du mouvement de lance comprend la détermination d'une vibration et/ou déformation.
