Abstract

A system for protecting an operator on an aerial work platform (10; 110) from a crushing hazard includes a sensor (e.g.: 402), such as opto-electric sensor, positionable adjacent the control panel area (e.g.: 124). A control system (12) is programmed to control operation of the driving components based on signals from the sensor.
