Definitions

  • the present invention belongs to the field of navigation, sports (boating) or leisure (boating). More particularly, the invention relates to a light boat of the canoe or kayak type. The invention is in particular relating to a boat comprising at least one backrest articulated on the deck of said boat.
  • Canoe or kayak type boats often have a bucket seat molded into the body of the boat. For reasons of space and manufacturing, the top of these seats is then often limited to the same height as the upper part of the deck of the boat. This results in a relatively small file height, not ensuring comfort to the user and supporting only a small portion of the lower back. Prolonged navigation in these conditions can cause muscle pain in the back.
  • Some devices more or less overcome the problem of back support during the practice of nautical activities. Folders of different shapes, sometimes with modular uses, have been incorporated into canoes and kayaks, either with removable seats or by direct mounting on the deck. Sometimes cans stored behind a seat play the role and provide the main functionality of a folder. However, when the inserts are fixed, their size can be problematic. For example when several boats must be stacked for transport or storage outside periods of use. In some solutions, removable folders, foldable or telescopic, are implemented to avoid this problem. These solutions often prove impractical and include an assembly of several mechanical parts. These folders often require deck fittings more or less important, including straps and attachment points. These components increase the vulnerability of the structure. This also results in a heavier boat and an increase in manufacturing costs. They also increase the risk of theft of these elements that are easily removable, which, as a precaution, leads to their disassembly whenever the storage conditions do not guarantee sufficient access security.
  • US 2013/0074760 discloses a boat with a seat with a mobile backrest.
  • An object of the present invention is to provide a solution to the problems of the prior art and proposes a boat whose movable backrest improves the comfort of the user without hindering a stacked storage of several boats, and which is kept secured to the bridge without being able to simply be removed.
  • the present invention claimed relates to a boat comprising a main body formed by an outer casing providing buoyancy, the hull, and a complementary casing, the bridge, and at least one seat with a movable backrest.
  • the mobile backrest has on its sides two lugs whose axes are substantially aligned.
  • the body of the boat has at its deck two housings made in the structure of said bridge and in each of which is placed a fixing lug, securing the mobile backrest to the bridge and forming a pivot connection that allows a rotation of the backrest movable between a raised position, in which the user can press his back on the backrest, and a lowered position, wherein the mobile backrest is mainly included in an interior volume of the bridge.
  • the boat thus obtained has a practical mobile backrest requiring no additional parts and guaranteeing an effective support for the back of the user and a free storage space of several boats in a pile.
  • the axis of the pivot connection between the mobile backrest and the bridge is substantially perpendicular to the vertical plane of symmetry of the boat. This allows the backrest to rotate transversely between the raised position and the lowered position. In addition, for a better stability of the mobile backrest, the axis of the pivot connection is located in front of the front of the mobile backrest when it is raised.
  • the mobile backrest In the raised position, the mobile backrest exceeds the top of the deck of the boat so that the support of the back of a user is improved in height.
  • the seat has a fixed backrest whose upper edge is locally at the same level as the deck of the boat.
  • the seat and the fixed back seat are formed integrally with the bridge to form a bucket seat. This increases the comfort of the user and limits the number of parts of the boat.
  • the deck of the boat has a bearing surface shaped so that the lower edge of the mobile backrest is supported on said bearing surface when the mobile backrest is in the raised position. It is thus obtained a stable position of the mobile backrest in the raised position. Therefore, the bearing surface forms a stop of the inclination of the backrest.
  • At least one bearing surface is substantially centered along a longitudinal axis of the bridge. It is thus obtained a support zone substantially in the central axis of the folder ensuring the stability and recovery efforts applied to the record in the raised position.
  • the bearing surface is formed with dimensions in a longitudinal direction X and a transverse direction Y, and a surface, so as to form a raised seat seat when the mobile backrest is lowered.
  • the user has a better field of vision when sitting on said raised seat.
  • the shape of the upper edge of the mobile backrest is complementary to the shape of the seat of the seat, the upper edge of the folder then marries the shape of the seat in the lowered position. This also limits the effects of repetitive shocks back against the seat that could lead to local damage to the seat.
  • the diameter of the fixing lugs and the distance separating them are respectively consistent with the diameter and the distance between them. housings so that the mobile backrest pivots between the raised and lowered positions without excessive resistance or play.
  • the movable back has a generally convex rear surface and having a central concavity that guides the bow of another boat during stacking.
  • the invention also relates to a method of assembling a main body and a mobile backrest to form a boat according to the invention.
  • the body of the boat is formed of a thermofusible polymer material which is heated to be melted or softened and then cooled.
  • the body of the boat is deformed to temporarily increase the distance between the housing, at a stage of its manufacture in which the material is not sufficiently cooled to maintain a desired final shape of the body, and then the previously made movable backrest is placed with the fixing lugs in the housing of the bridge, then the body is reformed entirely in its desired final form before complete cooling.
  • the deck and the mobile backrest are thus assembled in the boat without any particular effort and without risking damaging the deck, or the backrest, or both, if it was plausible to assemble them when the body of the boat is cooled because of the stiffness that he then acquired.
  • the figure 1a shows by way of example a boat 100, here a canoe, comprising mainly a body, formed by a bridge 20 and a hull 30, and two bucket seats 21a and 21b formed in a bridge structure, each seat further comprising a movable backrest 10 attached to said bridge.
  • a boat 100 here a canoe, comprising mainly a body, formed by a bridge 20 and a hull 30, and two bucket seats 21a and 21b formed in a bridge structure, each seat further comprising a movable backrest 10 attached to said bridge.
  • the deck 20 of the boat is composed of a main structure and has an overall vertical symmetry plane.
  • the bridge of the illustrated example comprises two bucket seats, the front seat 21a forming the front seat according to the usual direction of travel of the boat which corresponds to the direction of the X croissants on the figure 1a and the rear seat 21b behind the front seat.
  • Said seats are each formed, by a seat and a lower part of the backrest, integrally in the bridge structure and each further comprise a movable backrest 10 articulated on the bridge.
  • the figure 1b illustrates a bucket seat 21, which may be the front seat 21a or the rear seat 21b of the boat of the figure 1a , with its mobile backrest 10 in the raised position and leaving visible the other parts of the seat.
  • the seat 21 comprises an ergonomic seat 211, hollow and curved providing ergonomic support for the thighs of a user, and a folder composed in the illustrated example of two separate parts.
  • a fixed back 212 for a lower part, forming the bottom of the file and located in a continuity of the seat 211, essentially under the upper part of the deck of the boat, and a movable backrest 10, for an upper part, forming the top of the backrest when it is in the raised position as on the detail of the figure 1b .
  • the mobile file 10 shown separately on the Figures 3a and 3b , is substantially symmetrical with the same plane of vertical symmetry as the body of the boat and comprises a front face 11 of shape adapted to serve as a support for the back of a user, and a rear face 12, the opposite of the front face.
  • the mobile backrest 10 also has an upper edge 13 forming the top of the folder, and a lower edge 14 forming the bottom of the folder.
  • the top and bottom of the mobile backrest are conventionally defined, in the sense given above supra, when the mobile backrest is raised and in a position of use as a folder by a seat occupant 21.
  • the backrest 10 has two sides, 15 and 16, on each of which is a fixing lug, respectively 17 and 18.
  • the mobile backrest 10 has a slightly trapezoidal and concave shape for better support of the user's back.
  • the bridge 20 comprises two housings, 22 and 23, associated with the seat 21 to maintain the mobile backrest 10 by the attachment lugs 17 and 18 of said movable backrest inserted in said housing. In each of said housings is placed a fixing lug.
  • the figure 4 shows one of these housing, the movable backrest being shown with the fixing lug 17 clear of the housing 22 in which it is normally inserted.
  • Each housing is, in the illustrated example, a cylindrical cavity of circular section, made in the bridge structure, of a diameter adapted to receive a fixing lug of the backrest during assembly and form a pivot connection.
  • the axes of the two pivot links thus formed are substantially merged and determine a transverse axis A of rotation of the mobile backrest substantially in the direction of the Y axis perpendicular to the vertical plane of symmetry XZ of the body of the boat, as shown in FIG. detail of the figure 2b , so that the backrest is able to rotate around these axes.
  • the position of the transverse axis A is on the mobile backrest 10 offset towards the front relative to the front face 11 of the mobile backrest, when the mobile backrest is in the raised position, so that the greater part of a volume of the mobile backrest 10, and its mass, is behind the transverse axis A in the raised position of said mobile backrest and is in front of the transverse axis A in the lowered position of said mobile folder.
  • the mobile backrest 10 is naturally stable in both raised and lowered positions. as will be understood from the subsequent description of the implementation of the boat and said mobile record.
  • the fixing lugs 17 and 18 are cylindrical in shape with a circular section, chamfered at their free ends to facilitate their insertion into the housings 22 and 23.
  • the mobile backrest 10 is hinged loosely on the bridge 20 so as to be pivotable about the transverse axis A, shown in FIG. figure 5 , with a minimum game.
  • the cylindrical housing opposite an opening 222 opening on a surface of the bridge 20 and through which is inserted the fixing lug, ends with a bottom 221 materialized by the base of the cylinder, see figure 4a .
  • a depth of the housing h l is substantially equal to a length h d of the lug.
  • the mobile backrest 10 is hollow in shape, delimited by a wall defining the outer surfaces of said mobile backrest, which considerably limits the amount of material forming said mobile backrest, and therefore its mass, and contributes to the buoyancy of the boat.
  • the mobile backrest 10 is advantageously provided with a capillary opening 142 opening on the lower edge 14 of said mobile backrest, see figure 3b . Said capillary aperture prevents water from filling the interior volume of the backrest while allowing air to circulate between the inside and the outside of said backrest in order to preserve the structure of the backrest against the fatigue caused by the dilations and compressions internal gas under the effect of the temperature cycle.
  • the mobile backrest 10 is for example made of a material having a mechanical strength adapted to the forces experienced by the boat and the environment of its use.
  • This material is, for example, a polyethylene material which may be the one with which the body of the boat 20 is also made.
  • the backrest 10 pivots around the transverse axis A between two extreme positions.
  • the raised position is used to support the back of a user. This position is achieved when the lower edge 14 of the mobile backrest 10 is supported on a bearing surface 24 of the bridge 20 formed behind the fixed backrest 212.
  • the bearing surface 24 forms a rear stop for the pivot connection between the backrest mobile and the bridge, see Figures 1b and 2b .
  • the lower edge of the mobile backrest and the bearing surface of the bridge have substantially similar shapes.
  • the bearing surface 24 has a width at least equal to that of the lower edge 14 so that the latter can rest stably and resume the efforts more effectively.
  • the bearing surface 24 on which the mobile backrest 10 is resting in the raised position is offset rearward with respect to the locations of the pivot links, in accordance with the geometric shape of said mobile backrest, for a better stability and to better resist the torque generated by the back of the user.
  • the support surface 24 on which the mobile backrest 10 in the raised position rests has sufficient rearward extension to form a raised seat 27 of sufficient surface area when the mobile backrest 10 is lowered, see figure 8 .
  • a user of the boat can sit on the raised seat 27, when the mobile backrest 10 is placed in the lowered position, so as to benefit, by its elevated position, a better field of view.
  • Such a configuration is very useful for example for a monitor to monitor students, especially distributed in several boats.
  • the mobile backrest 10 In the lowered position the mobile backrest 10 is tilted forwards and the upper edge 13 of the mobile backrest 10 rests on the surface of the seat 211 of the seat 21 of the boat, figure 2b .
  • the upper edge 13 of the mobile backrest has a shape optimized to match the shape of the seat 211 at a contact area which reduces the impact of repeated shocks of said upper edge of the mobile backrest on the surface of the seat 211.
  • a boat record is obtained comprising the fixed backrest 212 of the bucket seat 21 and the mobile backrest 10 which is then the extension in height of the fixed backrest.
  • the comfort of the user is mainly ensured by the additional height of the backrest that provides the mobile backrest 10 in the raised position.
  • the lower edge 14 of the mobile backrest 10 has a rib 141 substantially in the vertical plane of symmetry in the example shown in FIG. figure 3b .
  • the bearing surface 24 of the bridge comprises in this embodiment a groove 241 as shown in FIG. figure 2b whose position, shape and dimensions are adapted to accommodate the rib 141 when the mobile backrest is in the raised position. As a result of this arrangement, the lateral stability of the backrest is increased.
  • a boat 100 ' similar in shape and dimensions to the boat 100 of the invention, can be superimposed on said boat of the invention, for example in the case of storage in a stack of superimposed boats, without the mobile backrest 10 causes any congestion due to the additional height it adds in the raised position.
  • the backrest pivots to the lowered position, as indicated on the figure 2b , so that boats equipped with movable files are stored as in the usual case of stacking canoe-kayak type boats.
  • a mobile backrest 10 of a boat does not exceed, at least in the plane of symmetry of the boat, the bearing surface 24 associated with said mobile backrest, so that a boat placed above the boat considered rests locally on said support surface without being hindered by said mobile folder.
  • the lowered position allows this storage of boats in a stack by reducing the height of the stack and without specific handling on the mobile folders and without said mobile records are detached from the bridge.
  • the mobile backrest 10 is previously placed in the lowered position, it is already included in an interior volume 26 of the bridge, as shown in FIG. figure 7 , and does not oppose the sliding of the upper craft.
  • a concavity 121 is formed on the rear face 12 of said movable backrest, figures 3b and 5 .
  • the concavity 121 brings rigidity to the mobile backrest 10 in the zone impacted by the bow 25 and provides initial guidance of the bow 25 of a boat 100 'above which pushes said mobile backrest during stacking and avoids a possible lateral sliding of said bow on the convex surface of the rear face 12 of the mobile backrest.
  • An advantage of the boat 100 according to the invention is that the mobile backrest 10 is inseparable from the bridge 20.
  • This inseparable nature is particularly advantageous on low boats, intended to navigate in more or less agitated conditions and capsizing, the mobile record can not then be lost.
  • the inseparability of the mobile backrest 10 and the bridge 20 does not present any major operational disadvantage because said mobile backrest, being made of a material having characteristics similar to or identical to those of the bridge material 20 , has a durability similar to that of said bridge which it shares stress cycles (exposure to cold, heat, water, ultraviolet radiation ).
  • the assembly is made at a stage of manufacture during which it is possible to deform said mobile backrest and or said deck without risking to damage one or the other.
  • the bridge 20 is deformed at a manufacturing stage where the body of the boat has not yet reached the final rigidity that it must have, the moving backrest. 10 being in its final state with a clean rigidity such that its deformation would lead to damage to said moving backrest.
  • the assembly of the bridge 20 and the mobile backrest 10 is performed in a step following the demolding of said body, before the total cooling thereof, and before it has acquired its final rigidity which makes it dimensionally stable to assemble the mobile file.
  • the boat may comprise a single seat or on the contrary may have more than two seats distributed along the length of the boat, all seats or only a portion of them being provided with a mobile folder as described.
  • the boat may comprise seats arranged side by side and or seats offset longitudinally and laterally.
  • At least one seat of the boat comprises a tub whose fixed backrest 212, made integral with the bridge 20, is of limited height substantially at the edge of said deck, or even whose tub is limited at seat 211 without fixed backrest.
  • the mobile folder 10 is equipped with protrusions in the form of ailerons 19. Said fins, determining at least in part a lower edge 14 of the mobile folder, allow said mobile folder to rely on one or more support surfaces 24 formed on the deck of the boat and arranged laterally at a distance from a longitudinal vertical plane of symmetry of the bridge at the rear of the mobile backrest.
  • a mobile backrest 10 can find support in the raised position on one or a plurality of bearing surfaces of the bridge, located behind the axis A pivot link of said mobile folder.
  • the backrest can be in different variants: rectangular, variable thickness, flattened or curved, with angular or rounded edges.
  • the backrest can also be of solid shape, made with a honeycomb core, for example, provided that the backrest is shaped to perform the functions described in the detailed embodiment.
  • the invention is also presented with a seat whose seat is integrally formed with the bridge, but it is also possible to realize the invention with a seat attached to the bridge, the mobile backrest being in this case still fixed and pivoting on the bridge.
