Description

    TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention regards a pellet stove or thermo-stove configured for promoting the viewing of the flame generated inside the combustion chamber during the operation of the stove or thermo-stove itself.
  • STATE OF THE ART
  • The pellet stoves of known type comprise a structure at whose interior at least one pellet space is provided that is associated with means for feeding such solid fuel inside a combustion chamber.
  • According to some versions, at least one heat exchanger can be provided inside the pellet stove, for the purpose of removing part of the heat generated inside the combustion chamber, during the operation of the stove, to be transferred to a carrier fluid to be heated.
  • Generally, the combustion chamber is delimited between lateral walls, of which the only wall placed frontally in use has a transparent portion in order to allow viewing the flame generated during the operation of the stove.
  • According to some versions, the front wall can be flat or have a slight curvature projecting with respect to the body of the stove in order to promote the viewing of the flame itself, even from frontal positions that are slightly off-center with respect to the transparent wall.
  • It is observed that the viewing of the flame inside the combustion chamber is in any case limited with respect to the frontal observation point of the stove itself, since the viewing through the remaining lateral walls is prevented.
  • For such purpose, it is underlined that the lateral walls of a pellet stove are made of sheet metal, and generally that between the combustion chamber and the lateral walls of the stove, the internal components such as the tank of the pellet, the forced ventilation means, a possible heat exchanger, etcetera, are interposed, which would however obstruct the viewing inside the combustion chamber.
  • Therefore, in the pellet stoves of known type, viewing inside the combustion chamber from an observation point that is lateral or rear with respect to the stove is simply not allowed.
  • EP 2386799 A1 describes a stove comprising two combustion chambers, one for the combustion of the wood and one for the pellet, placed in front of each other and separated by a part comprising at least one transparent portion, in which the chamber for the wood combustion is visible from the outside through a curved glass.
  • There is the need in the field to provide a pellet stove or thermo-stove that allows viewing the combustion flame during the operation thereof with a viewing angle greater than that allowed in the stoves of known type.
  • Simultaneously, there is the need to provide a pellet stove with a high thermal efficiency, intended as capacity to heat a carrier fluid through the heat generated during its operation, in the scope of a solution that can be easily positioned on the floor or possibly in hung configuration.
  • OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
  • The main object of the present invention is to provide a pellet stove or thermo-stove in which the combustion chamber is configured in a manner such to allow the viewing of the combustion flame from any observation point placed frontally and/or laterally with respect to the combustion chamber itself.
  • A further object of the present invention is to provide a pellet stove or thermo-stove with high thermal efficiency, intended as capacity to transfer at least part of the heat generated inside the combustion chamber to a carrier fluid to be heated.
  • Another object of the present invention is to provide a pellet stove or thermo-stove freely positionable inside a room, whether on the floor or in a configuration hung on a wall.
  • Not least, another object of the present invention is to provide a pellet stove or thermo-stove with overall reduced size still in the scope of a solution in which the access to the internal components is facilitated, in order to simplify the execution of the maintenance operations.
  • According to one aspect of the present invention, a pellet stove or thermo-stove is provided according to claim 1.
  • The dependent claims refer to preferred and advantageous embodiments of the invention.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • Further characteristics and advantages of the present invention will be more evident from the detailed description of a preferred but not exclusive embodiment of a pellet stove or thermo-stove, illustrated by way of a non-limiting example in the enclosed set of drawings, in which:
    • figure 1 is a top perspective view of a pellet stove according to the present invention;
    • figure 2 is a side view of the pellet stove pursuant to figure 1;
    • figure 3 is a view along the section plane III-III of the pellet stove pursuant to figure 2;
    • figure 4 is a front view of a pellet stove according to the present invention;
    • figure 5 is a view along the section plane V-V of the stove pursuant to figure 4;
    • figure 6 is a top perspective view of a further version of the pellet stove according to the present invention.
    EMBODIMENTS OF THE INVENTION
  • With reference to the enclosed figures, a pellet stove or thermo-stove according to the present invention is indicated overall with the number 1.
  • In the following description, with the term stove it is intended to indicate a stove in which the carrier fluid to be heated is a gas, preferably ambient air, while with the term thermo-stove it is intended to indicate a stove in which the carrier fluid to be heated is a liquid, e.g. water, oil, etcetera.
  • A stove or thermo-stove can comprise suitable operating means, not illustrated in detail, in order to allow the forced circulation of the carrier fluid to be heated in a respective circulation circuit or duct made inside the stove or thermo-stove. In brief, it is observed that if the carrier fluid is a gas, such as air, such operating means can comprise at least one fan V drivable by means of motor means (see figure 5). If however the carrier fluid to be heated is a liquid, the operating means can comprise pump means, drivable by means of respective motor means in a manner such to determine the forced circulation of the carrier fluid in a respective circuit provided inside the pellet thermo-stove.
  • In the following description, reference will be made to a pellet stove in which the carrier fluid to be heated is air drawn from the environment surrounding the stove itself.
  • With regard to a pellet thermo-stove, it is intended that considerations analogous to those set forth below are valid.
  • Furthermore, in the following description and in the enclosed figures, the components considered useful for understanding the structure and the operation of the pellet stove 1 according to the present invention will be described and illustrated, omitting the detailed description of the remaining components, deeming that the same are known by the person skilled in the art.
  • In the pellet stove 1 according to the present invention, the internal components are mutually aligned preferably along a front-rear direction, in a manner so as to limit the overall size of the stove 1 itself.
  • In particular, it is observed that a pellet stove 1 according to the present invention comprises a combustion chamber 2, at least one pellet space 3 arranged behind the combustion chamber 2 and a heat-exchanger group 4.
  • In particular, it is observed that the heat-exchanger group 4 is provided in a position interposed between the combustion chamber 2 and the pellet space 3.
  • The heat-exchanger group 4 comprises at least one heat exchanger 5, not illustrated in detail in the enclosed figures, which is configured as a device set to allow the heat exchange between two fluids that have different temperatures from each other. In particular, it is observed that in the at least one heat exchanger 5, the two fluids are maintained separate from each other, and therefore the heat exchange takes place in the absence of a mutual mixing thereof. In the heat-exchanger group 4, the heat exchange between the two fluids occurs along at least one heat exchange wall, not illustrated in detail in the enclosed figures, which is hit by the first and second fluid respectively on opposite sides.
  • The combustion chamber 2, below and above, has a perimeter edge P along which it is laterally delimited.
  • In particular, the combustion chamber 2 is laterally delimited, along the entire perimeter edge P, by at least one external transparent glass wall 6 and by at least one vertical wall 7. The latter acts as a separation element between the combustion chamber 2 and the heat-exchanger group 4. The at least one vertical wall 7 faces inside the combustion chamber and for this reason is made of a suitable material, capable of resisting the high temperatures reached therein during the operation of the pellet stove 1.
  • Analogously, the at least one glass wall 6 is made starting from a material resistant to the operating temperatures of the pellet stove 1.
  • It is observed that the at least one glass wall 6 and the at least one vertical wall 7 are both extended along a vertical direction between a lower portion and an upper portion of the combustion chamber 2.
  • The at least one glass wall 6 is extended along the perimeter edge P of the combustion chamber 2, occupying a first section 8 of the edge itself and, analogously, the at least one vertical wall 7 is extended along the perimeter edge P of the combustion chamber 2, occupying a second section 9 of the edge itself. According to one version of the present invention, the first section 8 and the second section 9 are consecutive one after the other and contiguous and, jointly, define the entire perimeter edge P of the combustion chamber 2.
  • According to a further version of the present invention, along the perimeter edge P at least one further section can be extended, not illustrated in the enclosed figures, comprising at least one junction element between the at least one glass wall 6 and the at least one vertical wall 7.
  • In detail, it is observed that the first section 8 has a greater extension than the extension of the second section 9.
  • If, along the perimeter edge P, at least one junction element is present, it is observed that the first section 8 has a greater extension than the sum of the extension of the second section 9 and the at least one further section.
  • As can be easily understood, the area along which the at least one glass wall 6 is extended, along the lateral surface of the combustion chamber 2, is greater than the area occupied by the at least one vertical wall 7. The pellet stove 1 is configured in a manner such that an observer situated frontally and/or laterally with respect to the pellet stove 1 is allowed to view the combustion chamber 2. According to one version of the present invention, illustrated in the enclosed figures 1-5, the combustion chamber 2 can have cylindrical or substantially cylindrical shape. In such case, the perimeter edge P is nothing more than an arc of circumference.
  • According to a further version of the present invention, with reference to the enclosed figure 6, the combustion chamber 2 can be configured as a parallelepiped and therefore the perimeter edge P corresponds with a portion of the perimeter of a square or rectangle.
  • It is intended that further shapes of a pellet stove or thermo-stove 1 according to the present invention are possible, not illustrated in the enclosed figures, in which the combustion chamber 2 appears as a polygonal solid extended in vertical direction, whose plan cross section can be configured oval, hexagonal, octagonal or polygonal or with any further geometric form, if desired also complex, without any limitation of the objects of the present invention.
  • The pellet space 3, provided behind the heat-exchanger group 4, comprises at least one tank 10 for storing the pellet, an opening for introducing the pellet inside the tank 10, possibly selectively interceptable by a closure door 11 provided on the top of the tank 10.
  • The pellet space 3 also comprises means 12 for feeding the pellet inside the combustion chamber 2. According to one version of the present invention, the pellet feeding means 12 can be configured as a screw 13 and comprise motor means 14 adapted to place the screw 13 in rotation around an axis along which the same is extended lengthwise, not illustrated in detail in the enclosed figures.
  • The pellet space 3 also comprises an inclined duct 15, inclined with respect to a horizontal direction, for the supply of the solid fuel inside the combustion chamber 2.
  • More in detail, the inclined duct 15 has a first end 16 operatively associated with the feeding means 12 and a second end 17, opposite the first, leading inside the combustion chamber 2.
  • The at least one vertical wall 7 has a first through opening 18 that can be engaged, during use, by the inclined duct 15.
  • According to a preferred version of the present invention, the at least one first through opening 18 is made at the lower portion of the at least one vertical wall 7. The first through opening 18 is configured substantially complementary to the external section of the inclined duct 15.
  • According to one version of the present invention, between the first through opening 18 and the inclined duct 15, sealing means can be provided, not illustrated in the enclosed figures, in order to ensure the sealing between the first through opening 18 and the inclined duct 15 and prevent leaks outside the combustion chamber 2 from occurring.
  • As stated, the first through opening 18 is during use engaged by the inclined duct 15, in a manner such that the second end 17 thereof leads inside the combustion chamber 2.
  • According to one version of the present invention, the second end 17 can be flush with the at least one vertical wall 7.
  • According to a further version of the present invention, the inclined duct 15 can extend beyond the at least one vertical wall 7, in a manner such that the second end 17 is more or less spaced from the at least one vertical wall 7 and comprised within the combustion chamber 2.
  • As stated, the duct 15 is inclined with respect to a horizontal direction in order to facilitate the supply of the pellet inside the combustion chamber 2 via drop, hence exploiting the force of gravity acting on the pellet itself.
  • The inclined duct 15 thus configured allows preventing undesired stagnation areas of solid fuel at its interior which could cause obstructions of the duct and compromise the supply of fuel to the interior of the combustion chamber.
  • The combustion chamber 2, the at least one vertical wall 7, the heat-exchanger group 4 and the pellet space 3 are configured in a manner such to allow viewing inside the combustion chamber 2 through the at least one first glass wall 6, not only from an observation point that is frontally placed with respect to the combustion chamber 2 itself but also from observations points that are lateral with respect thereto.
  • According to one version of the present invention, not illustrated in the enclosed figures, the at least one vertical wall 7 is flat.
  • According to a further version of the present invention, the at least one vertical wall 7 can be shaped and have at least one raised portion which is extended inside the combustion chamber (see figure 3).
  • In any case, the at least one vertical wall 7 is configured in a manner such to facilitate the viewing inside the combustion chamber 2 from various frontal and/or lateral angles with respect to the at least one vertical wall 7 itself.
  • The interior of the combustion chamber 2 can thus be observed from different observation points with respect to the stove or thermo-stove 1 itself, such as a frontal observation point and/or lateral observation point, or if desired in part rear, thus allowing a user to observe the combustion flame generated during the operation of the pellet stove or thermo-stove from different perspectives. The possibility to observe the interior of the combustion chamber 2 during the operation of the stove or thermo-stove, and hence in the presence of a combustion flame, is aesthetically pleasant and moreover allows verifying the presence of the combustion flame during the operation of the pellet stove or thermo-stove 1.
  • In practice, the possibility to observe the interior of the combustion chamber 2 both frontally and laterally signifies greater safety of use of a stove or thermo-stove 1 according to the present invention, since an observer can verify the presence of the combustion flame, and hence the correct operation of the stove, even if he/she is positioned laterally or even in partially rear position with respect to the combustion chamber 2 itself.
  • In the solutions of known type, as stated, the interior of the combustion chamber can only be observed from the frontal position, thus requiring that a user position himself/herself in front of the stove in order to monitor the presence of the combustion flame 2 during the operation thereof.
  • On the contrary, in the pellet stove or thermo-stove 1 according to the present invention, the combustion chamber 2 lacks, along most of its perimeter edge P, obstacles that can limit the viewing of the flame at its interior.
  • According to one version of the present invention, the at least one glass wall 6 can comprise a single shaped glass whose plan extension substantially corresponds with the configuration of the first section 8 of the perimeter edge P.
  • If the combustion chamber 2 is configured as a cylinder, the first section 8 can correspond with a circumference sector, and consequently the at least one glass wall 6 can be shaped as a cylindrical sector (see figures 1 and 2).
  • If the combustion chamber 2 is configured as a parallelepiped, the at least one glass wall 6 can be configured as a lateral portion of a parallelepiped open on at least one side.
  • It is intended that the number of the glass walls 6 - between which the combustion chamber 2 is laterally delimited along the first section 8 of the perimeter edge P - can be at least equal to one or more, without any limitation.
  • According to one version of the present invention not illustrated in the enclosed figures, along the first section 8, multiple glass walls 6 can be provided in succession one after the other in order to define a continuous transparent surface through which the interior of the combustion chamber 2 can be observed.
  • If the pellet stove or thermo-stove 1 comprises two or more glass walls 6, the same can be mutually connected by means of a frame element or the like not illustrated in the enclosed figures, configured so as to ensure the seal of the combustion chamber 2.
  • According to one aspect of the present invention, the at least one glass wall 6 can be movably connected with respect to the combustion chamber 2. More in detail, according to one version, the at least one glass wall 6 can be configured as a door hinged to the pellet stove or thermo-stove 1, such that it can be opened/closed and thus facilitate/prevent the access inside the combustion chamber 2 itself. According to a further version, the at least one glass wall 6 can be removably connected to the combustion chamber 2 by means of a slide guide or the like, for the purpose of being removed, if necessary, and allow the access inside the combustion chamber 2 itself.
  • Further types of connection between the at least one glass wall 6 and the combustion chamber 2 are nevertheless possible, which are adapted to allow a removable connection of the at least one glass wall 6 with the stove or thermo-stove 1.
  • If the combustion chamber 2 is laterally delimited along the first section 8 by a plurality of glass plates 6, at least one of the plates 6 can be removably or movably connected to the stove or thermo-stove, in order to facilitate an easy access inside the combustion chamber 2.
  • As stated, also the heat-exchanger group 4 and the pellet space 3 are configured so as to optimize the field of vision around the stove or thermo-stove from which the interior of the combustion chamber 2 can be observed.
  • In particular, the at least one first glass wall 6, the at least one vertical wall 7, the heat-exchanger group 4 and the pellet space 3 are configured so as to allow an observer to view inside the combustion chamber 2 with a field of vision whose plan width, defined with respect to an observation point that is in front of the vertical wall 6, is comprised in an arc of circumference subtended by an angle A whose width is greater than 180°.
  • According to one version of the present invention, the pellet stove or thermo-stove 1 is configured such that the vision angle A is greater than or equal to 240°. According to a further version of the present invention, the pellet stove or thermo-stove 1 is configured such that the vision angle A is greater than or equal to 310°. According to a further aspect of the present invention, the pellet stove or thermo-stove 1 comprises an exhaust duct 19 for the exhaust fumes, in fluid communication with the combustion chamber 2, which is extended from the top of the pellet stove or thermo-stove 1.
  • The exhaust duct 19 is positioned above the combustion chamber 2 in order to not interfere with the viewing inside the same.
  • The pellet stove or thermo-stove 1 according to the present invention comprises means for suctioning the exhaust fumes coming from the combustion chamber, 2 indicated overall with 20, such as an aspirator (see figure 5).
  • It is intended that such suction means 20 are placed upstream of and in fluid communication with the exhaust duct 19 in order to allow the evacuation of the exhaust fumes coming from the combustion chamber 2 to outside the pellet stove or thermo-stove 1.
  • According to one aspect of the present invention, it is observed that the use of suction means 20 allows the operation of the combustion chamber 2 in slightly reduced pressure with respect to the pressure of the external environment, thus preventing a possible and undesired leaking of the exhaust fumes to outside the combustion chamber 2 itself.
  • The at least one vertical wall 7 has at least one second through opening 21 leading to the combustion chamber 2 in order to allow the outflow of the exhaust fumes coming out from the combustion chamber 2 itself.
  • The at least one second opening 21 can be delimited by at least one first duct or manifold 22 which departs rearward from the at least one vertical wall 6.
  • The first duct or manifold 22 is in fluid communication with the suction means 20.
  • Preferably, the at least one second opening 21 is made at the upper portion of the at least one vertical wall 7, above the at least one first through opening 18.
  • As better described hereinbelow, the at least one second opening 21 is placed at the upper portion of the at least one vertical wall 7 in order to be able to increase the extension of the surface through which the heat exchange occurs between the hot fumes and the carrier fluid to be heated.
  • According to one aspect of the present invention, the heat-exchanger group 4 comprises the at least one first duct or manifold 22 for the passage of the hot fumes coming from the combustion chamber 2 and at least one second duct 23 for the passage of the carrier fluid to be heated.
  • The at least one first duct 22 and the at least one second duct 23 can be configured in a manner so as to ensure a mutual thermal contact, and hence a mutual heat exchange.
  • With reference to the heat-exchanger group 4 illustrated in the enclosed figures, it is observed that the same has a plan configuration that is substantially V-shaped, and comprises two lateral branches that are joined together at a vertex portion which, during use, is placed inside the combustion chamber 2.
  • An exchanger group 4 thus configured allows a wide field of vision within which an observer can observe the combustion chamber 2 through the at least one glass wall 5.
  • It is intended that the heat-exchanger group 4 can assume different configurations with respect to that described above, while in the scope of a solution with limited size and optimized in a manner so as to facilitate the viewing inside the combustion chamber 2 through the at least one glass wall 5, without departing from the protective scope of the present invention.
  • By way of a non-limiting example, according to a further version of the present invention, the heat-exchanger group 4 can have a plan cross section substantially of a "T" or "I or "U" or rectangular shape elongated towards the rear portion (rear during use) of the pellet stove or thermo-stove, without any limitation.
  • The heat-exchanger group 4 is in fluid communication with the combustion chamber 2 through the at least one second opening 21 and with the exhaust duct 19 through the suction means 20.
  • The positioning of the heat-exchanger group 4, provided in a position interposed between the combustion chamber 2 and the pellet space 3, allows optimizing the extension of the useful section of the heat-exchanger group 4 itself, intended as portion or wall along which an effective heat exchange can occur between the hot exhaust fumes and the carrier fluid to be heated.
  • According to one version of the present invention, the heat-exchanger group can comprise a heat exchanger 5 which is extended in vertical direction for a length at least equal to the extension of the combustion chamber 2 in vertical direction. The heat exchanger 5 can comprise the at least one first duct or manifold 22 whose extension in vertical direction, therefore, can be at least equal to the extension in vertical direction of the combustion chamber.
  • According to one version of the present invention, the at least one first duct 22 can comprise at least one section upstream of the suction means 20 and at least one section downstream of the suction means 20, not illustrated in detail in the enclosed figures.
  • The section of the at least one first duct 22 upstream of the suction means 20 is in communication with the combustion chamber 2 through the at least one second opening 21 while the section of the at least one first duct 22 downstream of the suction means 20 is associated with the exhaust duct 19.
  • In practice, the exhaust fumes coming from the combustion chamber 2, through the heat-exchanger group 4, are placed in thermal contact with a carrier fluid to be heated, which is made to circulate in a forced manner inside at least one second duct 23 within the pellet stove or thermo-stove 1.
  • A pellet stove or thermo-stove 1 according to the present invention therefore has a combustion chamber 2 laterally delimited by a wide transparent surface, which allows viewing the flame during the operation of the stove from various angles. Moreover, the particular shape of the components constituting the pellet stove or thermo-stove 1, with particular reference to the configuration of the heat-exchanger group 4, allows obtaining high performances in terms of thermal efficiency, intended as the capacity to heat a carrier fluid which is introduced inside the stove itself.
  • In addition, the configuration of the single components of the stove or thermo-stove 1 according to the present invention allows optimizing the overall sizes of the pellet stove or thermo-stove itself, in order to facilitate the free positioning thereof in a room.
  • As stated, the particular configuration and mutual positioning of the components of the pellet stove or thermo-stove 1 according to the present invention allows limiting the overall sizes, even in the scope of a solution in which the access to the internal components is facilitated.
  • Indeed, since the components are arranged aligned with each other according to a front-rear orientation, if it is necessary to carry out a maintenance operation for the stove or thermo-stove it is possible to access the internal components by means of accesses provided laterally or on the rear of the stove or thermo-stove, not illustrated in detail in the enclosed figures. For such purpose, the pellet space 3 and/or the heat-exchanger group 4 can each comprise panels that are removable or they can be included inside a removable housing in order to facilitate the access to the internal components of the stove or thermo-stove itself.
  • As stated, the fumes exhaust duct 19 is provided projecting above the top of the stove or thermo-stove 1 which, therefore, since it can have the rear portion free, can be positioned hung from a wall.
  • The above-described pellet stove or thermo-stove 1 are susceptible of numerous modifications and variations within the protective scope of the following claims.
