  1. Contact brush (1) of a rotary machine with commutator (7) for a motor vehicle, comprising:
    - a first part (21), called wearing part, comprising an active face (3) intended to be at least partially in contact with the commutator (7) so as to energize the winding of a rotor, the first part comprising a useful height (H) which is a dimension perpendicular to the active face which is in contact with the commutator, wherein a section of the first part (21) of the brush (1), in a plane parallel to the active face (3), called working section, diminishes in size, for example stepwise, along the useful height (H) of the brush (1) in the direction away from the active face (3),
    - a front face (13) adjacent to the active face (3) at a leading edge (9) and a rear face (15) adjacent to the active face (3) at a trailing edge (11), the front face (13) and the rear face (15) being connected by a first side face (17) and a second side face (19), wherein at least two of the faces from among:
    - the front face (13)
    - the rear face (15)
    - the first side face (17) and
    - the second side face (19)
    extend perpendicularly with respect to the active face (3),
    characterized in that the at least two faces (13, 15, 17, 19) extending perpendicularly with respect to the active face (3) comprise the front face (13) and the rear face (15).
  2. Brush (1) according to Claim 1, wherein the brush (1) also comprises:
    - a second part (23), called mounting part, situated opposite the active face (3) of the first part (21) and configured to allow mounting of the brush (3).
  3. Brush (1) according to Claim 1 or 2, wherein the reduction in size is continuous along the useful height (H) of the brush (1).
  4. Brush (1) according to Claim 3, wherein the reduction in size is linear along the useful height (H) of the brush (1).
  5. Brush (1) according to one of the preceding claims, wherein the ratio between the working section of the brush (1) at the end of the first part (21) opposite to the active face (3) and the working section of the brush (1) at the active face (3) is a function of the ratio of the force of the elastic element exerted initially on the brush on the force of the spring exerted on the brush in the worn state of the brush at the end of the first part (21) so as to reduce a variation in the pressure of the brush on the commutator during its working life.
  6. Rotary machine with commutator for a motor vehicle, comprising at least one brush (1) according to any one of the preceding claims.
