An upper door armature assembly (30) of a sliding door (10), said assembly comprising a housing (34) having a lower bottom panel (37) and a housing lid (35) secured thereto, as well as a pair of transverse guide rollers (31, 32) each mounted for rotation on an axle trunnion (81), with the axle trunnions (81) arranged to be parallel with each other and symmetrically relative to a vertical central longitudinal plane of the door armature assembly (30), with both axle trunnions (81) rigidly secured in the housing (34), with the pair of transverse guide rollers defining an insertion opening (36) of the housing (34) and with the axle trunnions (81) mounted immovably in a freely cantilevered relationship and secured at one end thereof in the housing (34), characterized in that
    - the housing (34) extends beyond the free ends of the axle trunnions (81) and in that the housing lid (35) extends over a section of the transverse guide rollers (31, 32) in a spaced relationship thereto and without contacting the axle trunnions (81).
  2. Upper door armature assembly (30) as claimed in claim 1, characterized in that the transverse guide rollers (31, 32) are journalled on axle trunnions (81) by rolling-motion bearings (77) sealed on both sides and lubricated for long service life.
  3. Upper door armature assembly (30) as claimed in claim 1, characterized in that the transverse guide rollers (31, 32) protrude from the housing (34) by at least 10 % of their diameter in a direction normal to said central longitudinal plane.
  4. Upper door armature assembly (30) as claimed in claim 1, characterized in that the transverse guide roller (31, 32) extend to protrude from the housing (34) in the longitudinal direction (5) of the door armature assembly (30).
  5. Upper door armature assembly (30) as claimed in claim 1, characterized by comprising an accelerating and retarding mechanism (41).
  6. Sliding door (10) comprising a door armature assembly (30) as claimed in claim 1.
