Description
- The present invention relates to a heat exchanger assembly for a refrigerator that has two separate heat exchange circuits associated with individual compressor and condensers.
- It is well-known that in the refrigerant cycle effected in refrigeration appliances, the thermal energy absorbed from the inner cabin of the appliance is discharged to the surrounding room by means of a condenser. The refrigerant fluid is accordingly circulated between a condenser, an expansion device such as capillary tube and an evaporator. The refrigerant fluid undergoes a phase transition from the liquid phase into the gas phase by way of absorbing the ambient heat of the foodstuff preserved within the cabin while passing through the evaporator. Subsequently, the pressurized refrigerant fluid releases its heat to the ambient through the condenser surfaces.
- A condenser may be a static one that is operable by natural heat convection or a forced heat convection method can alternatively be adapted. Heat transfer from the condenser to the outer environment can therefore be accomplished in a more efficient manner such that removal of the heat by enforced convection is provided via a fan blowing air over the condenser.
- On the other hand, a refrigeration appliance having two separate heat exchange circuits associated with separate compressors such that two condensers are mounted on the rear wall of the appliance to be conventionally extending one above the other may exhibit a structural problem in regards to the heat exchange capacity of the system as the air heated by the thermal energy released from the lower condenser passes around the upper condenser to impact its heat exchange capacity in an unfavorable manner.
- Among others, a prior art patent publication relevant to the technical field of the present invention can be referred to as
CN201731689 , disclosing a conventional structure in the form of an external condenser for a refrigerator, which comprises a condenser coil fixed on a back plate or a side plate of the refrigerator, wherein a radiating steel wire is arranged on the condenser coil. -
DE 20 2005 006118 U1 discloses a refrigerator according to the preamble ofclaim 1, said refrigerator comprises two condensers with refrigerant flow tubes in serpentine form that extend vertically and parallel to each other on the rear wall of the refrigerator. The flow tubes are connected to each other by two holders. - The present invention, on the other hand, proposes a refrigeration appliance with a plurality of condensers associated with independent heat exchange circuits as provided by the characterizing features defined in
Claim 1. - Primary object of the present invention is to provide a refrigeration appliance with a plurality of condensers associated with independent heat exchange circuits such that thermal interaction in between the two condensers causes no heat exchange capacity loss.
- The present invention proposes a heat exchanger structure comprised of separate condensers, each being associated with a separate heat exchange circuit in a household cooling appliance such as a refrigeration appliance. Separate heat exchangers typically has refrigerant flow tubes in serpentine form serving to the purpose of circulating the refrigerant fluid pressurized by a compressor in each circuit such that thermal energy is dissipated by the heat exchanger, i.e. a respective condenser of the refrigeration appliance.
- The condenser in each heat exchange circuit is disposed parallel to the rear wall of the appliance along the longitudinal axis of the same. The rear surface of the appliance is divided by a condenser fixation device extending in the middle longitudinally perpendicular to the base of the appliance. The condenser fixation device is in mechanical connection with the two condensers at two sides.
- The condensers are fixed to the refrigeration appliance's body by connection means at the outer sides thereof, i.e. at the edges remote from the condenser fixation device. The latter has a continuous slit receiving inner side ends of the condensers in the manner to be enclosing the same. The latches within the condenser fixation device maintain the condensers in a fixed position.
- Further, a fan is provided by which the cooler air sucked from around the lower part of the refrigeration appliance is circulated through the closed inner volume of the condenser fixation device and only discharged through lateral cooling openings to be directly delivered onto the condensers.
- Accompanying drawings are given solely for the purpose of exemplifying a refrigeration appliance with a plurality of independent heat exchange circuits whose advantages over prior art were outlined above and will be explained in brief hereinafter.
- The drawings are not meant to delimit the scope of protection as identified in the claims nor should they be referred to alone in an effort to interpret the scope identified in said claims without recourse to the technical disclosure in the description of the present invention.

- The present invention proposes a refrigeration appliance (1) having a plurality of independent heat exchange circuits associated with a first (2) and a second condenser (3), said condensers (2, 3) having refrigerant flow tubes in serpentine form allowing circulating of a refrigerant fluid pressurized by a compressor in association with each heat exchange circuit such that thermal energy is dissipated by a respective condenser (2, 3) of the refrigeration appliance (1).
- The condensers (2, 3) are disposed side by side in parallel along a rear wall of the appliance (1) to be separated by a condenser fixation device (4) extending longitudinally perpendicular to the base of the refrigeration appliance (1). The inner lateral sides of the condensers (2, 3) are fixedly secured to the condenser fixation device (4) such that the condensers (2, 3) are partly covered by the outer surface of said condenser fixation device (4), said surface extending in parallel with the rear wall of the appliance (1).
- The configuration of the two condensers (2, 3) in the form to be partly enclosed by a central longitudinally extending condenser fixation device (4) which supports and carries the condensers (2, 3) is advantageous in that it affords preservation of the heat exchange capacities on the part of each condenser while the air heated by the thermal energy released from a first condenser (2) does not directly impact the heat exchange capacity of the other in an unfavorable manner.
- According to an embodiment of the present invention, the first and the second condensers (2, 3) are secured to the refrigeration appliance's (1) body by any appropriate condenser connection means (5) such that the condensers are laterally carried and attached to said body in supported and fixed manner at the outer sides thereof.
- In a further embodiment of the present invention, the inner lateral sides of the condensers (2, 3) are fixedly secured to the condenser fixation device (4) by means of a continuous slit (6), into which inner lateral sides or tubular inner side ends of the condensers (2, 3) are insertable.
