Claims (8)

  1. Climbing equipment with a foldable platform and a foldable guardrail, said equipment comprising:
    a main climbing section M having its uprights (2) interconnected by rungs (3);
    two stabilizer legs (6), hinged close to the tops of respective ones of the two uprights (2) by hinges (7) enabling them to take up a stowage position, in which they are placed against the uprights, and a stabilization position, in which they are spaced apart from said uprights, forwards and sideways,
    ties (10) controlling the spacing-apart of the legs (6), each tie being disposed between the leg (6) and the upright (2) to which said leg is hinged;
    a platform (4) hinged relative to the main climbing section with the possibility of projecting forwards or of being folded away against said main climbing section; and
    a U-shaped guardrail (13) disposed at the top of the main climbing section M and suitable, with the assistance of control rods (16), for taking up a folded-away position in which it is folded away against the uprights (2) and an active position in which it is substantially parallel to the deployed platform and projecting backwards, said guardrail being hinged, close to its transverse bar (14a), to the tops of the uprights (2) of the main climbing section, and constituting, via its parallel branches (14), runners for sliding collars (19) hinged permanently to the top ends of the control rods (16);
    characterized in that each control rod (16) is independent of the platform (4) and its bottom end is hinged (at 30) against the inside face of the corresponding upright (2), each of the rods (16) carrying the hinge bearings (31, 32) for a gate (33) extending transversely towards the gate of the other rod.
  2. Climbing equipment with a foldable platform and a foldable guardrail according to claim 1, characterized in that each of the branches (14) of the guardrail (13) is equipped, close to its end, with manually unlockable means (36) for automatically locking the sliding collar (19) hinged to the corresponding rod (16), when the collar reaches its work position.
  3. Climbing equipment with a foldable platform and a foldable guardrail according to claim 1, characterized in that at least one of the two hinge bearings (31, 32) for hinging a gate to its vertical rod (16) is equipped with means allowing it to be pivoted through a fraction of a turn only, between its closed position and a retracted position above the platform (4), and resilient return means for urging it back into its closed position.
  4. Climbing equipment with a foldable platform and a foldable guardrail according to claim 1, characterized in that each stabilizer leg (6) is telescopic and is made up of an upper portion (6a) and of a lower position (6b) that are mounted to slide on the outside of the upper portion (6a), said lower portion being equipped with a longitudinal slot (42) provide with positioning and bearing recesses (43) suitable for co-operating with at least one finger (44) that projects radially from the upper portion.
  5. Climbing equipment with a foldable platform and a foldable guardrail according to claims 1 and 4 taken together, characterized in that the lower portion (6b) of the stabilizer leg surrounds the upper portion (6a) on which it slides, while the upper portion (6a) carries the sliding collar (8) to which the tie (10) and the spacer arm (22) are hinged.
  6. Climbing equipment with a foldable platform and a foldable guardrail according to claim 1, characterized in that the uprights (2) of the main climbing section M are constituted by shaped-section members of rectangular cross-section, each of which has, projecting from one of its large faces (2a), a longitudinal fin (50) that, extending a small face (2b) and facing outwards, is suitable for bearably receiving the fin (150) of an identical shaped-section member constituting the upright (102) of a booster climbing section R, which upright (102) is pressed against the upright (2) of the main climbing section by outside bearing rollers (151) projecting radially and rolling against the shaped-section member (2) of the main climbing section.
  7. Climbing equipment with a foldable platform and a foldable guardrail according to claim 6, characterized in that the fins (50) of the shaped-section members (2) of the uprights of the main climbing section carry bearing shoes (54) made of a material having a good coefficient of sliding friction and distributed over the adjustment length along which the booster section R can be adjusted on the main climbing section M.
  8. Climbing equipment with a foldable platform and a foldable guardrail according to claim 6, characterized in that each of the uprights (102) of the booster section R has, hinged against its inside face, a locking lever (55) provided with return means for urging it back into the locked position, and a locking finger (60) passing through an opening in the fin (150) of the upright and suitable for engaging in one of the notches (160) provided in the fin (50) of the main climbing section.
