Definitions
- the invention relates to a high-pressure fuel pump according to the preamble of claim 1.
- the high-pressure fuel pump according to the invention eliminates the need for a diaphragm can for damping pressure pulsations. Instead, an already compelling component, namely a housing wall and / or a seal carrier, is used to provide deformations and thus to damp the pressure pulsations.
- the housing wall or the seal carrier can, so to speak, "breathe”.
- the high-pressure fuel pump according to the invention thus has fewer parts and can therefore be produced inexpensively. The required parts are also structurally very simple, which also reduces the manufacturing costs and also increases the reliability and thus the life and stability of the high-pressure fuel pump.
- the damping volume in a non-pressurized rest state ie when the damping volume is approximately atmospheric pressure
- a volume of 60 cm 3 to 140 cm 3 in particular from 80 cm 3 to 120 cm 3
- the housing wall has a wall thickness of 0.8 mm to 2 mm, preferably a wall thickness of 1 mm to 1.7 mm, in particular a wall thickness of 1.2 mm to 1.5 mm.
- An embodiment of the high-pressure fuel pump with a damping volume in the range of the specified values or a housing wall with wall thicknesses in the range of the indicated values has the advantage that pressure pulsations occurring in customary common-rail fuel systems are sufficiently effectively damped.
- the figures given refer to a high-pressure fuel pump for a normal passenger car.
- the values given may be adjusted accordingly.
- a further development of the high-pressure fuel pump provides that the jacket-like region of the housing wall has a wavy executed section. By means of a corrugated design of a section of the jacket-like region, this section becomes particularly flexible and can therefore damp pressure pulsations particularly efficiently, while at the same time having a long service life.
- the coat-like area thus becomes a kind of corrugated bellows, which can provide a large damping volume by its construction and inherent elasticity.
- a further development of the high-pressure fuel pump according to the invention provides that the housing wall and / or the seal carrier are at least partially made using plastic and / or steel sheet.
- Plastic offers the advantage of a cost-effective method of production.
- Sheet steel is corrosion resistant, particularly elastic and robust.
- a combination of plastic and steel sheet allows a particularly advantageous embodiment, in which an inner layer of the pump housing can be made of sheet steel, while an outer layer of plastic can be produced. This offers the advantage that the corrosion resistance and elasticity of the steel sheet can be combined with the noise damping properties of plastic.
- a further development of the high-pressure fuel pump according to the invention is characterized in that the parts of the jacket-like region of the housing wall and / or the seal carrier, which are used for the pressure pulsation damping, are rotationally symmetrical.
- Rotationally symmetric outlines offer the advantage of a favorable production, for example by means of a deep drawing process. Rotationally symmetrical outlines are furthermore advantageous with regard to installation dimensions of the high-pressure fuel pump according to the invention.
- the pump housing has a connection device for connection to a low-pressure line of a fuel system.
- the arrangement of a connection device to the pump housing has the advantage that fuel which is sucked from a low pressure line, the damping volume flows through in a suitable manner. As a result, an efficient damping of the pressure pulsation is ensured.
- a fuel system of an internal combustion engine contributes in FIG. 1 overall, the reference numeral 10. It includes a fuel tank 12 for receiving fuel. With this fuel tank 12, an electric feed pump 14 is connected. In turn, a low-pressure line 16 is connected to the prefeed pump 14. This leads to a total of indicated by a dash-dotted line high-pressure fuel pump 18, carried out in this example in the form of a piston pump. From this leads a high-pressure line 20 to a fuel rail 22 to the fuel rail 22 a plurality of injectors 24 are connected. A fuel delivery flow in this fuel system 10 is directed from the fuel tank 12 toward the injectors 24.
- the high-pressure fuel pump 18 comprises an inlet valve 26 designed as a check valve and an outlet valve 28 designed as a check valve, as well as a displacement chamber 30, which in FIG. 1 represented by the known pump symbol.
- a damping device 32 is arranged, which is designed in this example as part of the high-pressure fuel pump 18, as will be explained in more detail below.
- the damping device 32 in turn is fluidly connected to the low-pressure line 16, as will be explained in more detail below.
- the high-pressure fuel pump 18 is in FIG. 2 shown in more detail.
- the high-pressure fuel pump 18 includes a pump body 34, which is made in one piece in this example.
- the displacer 30 is formed in the form of a cavity.
- a piston 48 is movably arranged.
- a support member 50 is attached at one end of the Piston 48.
- spring 52 of the piston is clamped against a seal carrier 44. Due to the tension of the piston 48 is pressed by the spring 52 from the displacement chamber 30.
- the piston 48 is moved via camshaft, not shown, in the displacer 30 up and down. This movement is indicated by a double arrow 54. Control signals go to the inlet valve 26 via a control input 56 and indicate its opening.
- the high-pressure fuel pump 18 further has a pump housing 40, which comprises a housing pot 42 and the fluid-tight (for example by welding) associated with this seal carrier 44 (see also FIG. 3 ).
- the housing pot 42 is in an opening (not numbered) in an engine block 46 (in FIG. 2 indicated by a dot-dash line) used.
- the housing pot 42 in turn comprises one in the Figures 2 and 3 radially outer jacket-like portion 60 and one in the Figures 2 and 3 upper lid portion 58 of a not further provided with a reference numeral housing wall.
- a central opening 57 is present, which is connected to a connecting device, not shown, for example in the form of a welded connection piece.
- the opening 57 is thereby connected to the low-pressure line 16.
- the seal carrier 44 is used to hold a piston seal, not specified, and extends from an in FIG. 2 bottom edge of the sheath-like portion 60 of the housing pot 42 downwardly and radially inwardly.
- the housing pot 42 and the seal carrier 44 form an outer boundary of a damping volume 38 of the damping device 32, which is connected via the opening 57 on the one hand to the low pressure line 16 and on the other hand to the inlet valve 26 and therefore filled with fuel during operation. Its function is to dampen pressure pulsations during operation by changing the volume.
- the material thickness of the sheath-like region 60, its material type and constructive shape are selected such that portions of the sheath-like region 60 form a radially movable wall of the damping device 32 in the present case, such that this movable wall predominantly contributes to the variation of the operating mode Damping volume 38 contributes.
- the damping volume 38 in a pressureless rest state has a volume of 60 cm 3 to 140 cm 3, in particular of 80 cm 3 to 120 cm 3.
- the jacket-like region 60 of the housing wall preferably has a wall thickness of 0.8 mm to 2 mm, preferably a wall thickness of 1 mm to 1.7 mm, in particular a wall thickness of 1.2 mm to 1.5 mm.
- the high-pressure fuel pump 18 and the damping device 32 operate as follows: via an up-and-down movement of the piston 48 corresponding to the double arrow 54 in FIG FIG. 2 and one and corresponding controlled opening of the intake valve 26, the fuel from the low-pressure line 16, via the damping volume and the inlet valve 26 is sucked into the displacement chamber 30, compressed by the piston 48 and conveyed via the outlet valve 28 into the high-pressure line 20. From there, the fuel reaches the injectors 24 and further into the combustion chambers associated therewith.
- pressure pulsations occur in front of the inlet valve 26, i. an actual pressure in the low pressure line 16 deviates periodically from a desired pressure in the low pressure line 16.
- These pressure pulsations are caused by the discontinuous delivery of the high-pressure fuel pump 18 designed as a piston pump and attenuated by means of the damping device 32, i. an amount of a periodic deviation of the pressure in the low pressure line 16 from the target pressure or an average value is reduced.
- This damping is made possible by a radial movement of the movable wall of the jacket-like region 60, which moves radially outwardly at a pressure increase and moves radially inward at a pressure drop due to the inherent elasticity and thus contributes a predominant proportion to a variation of the damping volume 38 ,
- the sheath-like region 60 is only where it is not prevented from such movement by, for example, connection to the pump body 34. This movement is therefore more likely to occur in those areas that are outside the cutting plane of the FIG. 2 and, in particular, in those areas which are the subject of the FIG. 3 shown and to Cutting plane of FIG. 2 lying at an angle of 90 ° cutting plane.
- the part of the jacket-like region 60 shown there forms a movable wall in the sense of the definition of the damping device 32 and is designated by the reference numeral 66.
- seal carrier 44 can be added to the movable wall 66, since it is dimensioned to be in the Figures 2 and 3 lower section, which has a smaller diameter than the upper section, moves downwards at a pressure increase, which is in FIG. 3 is indicated by a dashed line.
- FIG. 4 is an alternative embodiment of the pump housing 40 from FIG. 3 shown.
- the sheath-like region 60 has in the embodiment of FIG. 4 having a lid portion 58 adjacent circumferential wavy executed section 64. This facilitates a "breathing" of the movable wall 66 of the housing pot 42 similar to a corrugated bellows or a bellows.

Description

- In
