Definitions
- the present invention relates to a superconductive coil device comprising a coil winding of at least two superconducting strip conductors and contacts for connecting the coil device to an external circuit.
- HTS high-temperature superconductors or even high-T c superconductors
- band conductors often have further layers such as stabilization layers, contact layers, buffer layers and in some cases also insulation layers.
- the most important material class of the so-called second-generation HTS conductors (2G-HTS) are compounds of the type REBa 2 Cu 3 O x , where RE stands for a rare-earth element or a mixture of such elements.
- the substrate tape is typically either steel or alloy Hastelloy.
- the electrical contact to an external circuit is usually made via a contact layer of copper, wherein this contact layer is either applied on one side over the superconducting layer or can surround the entire band conductor as an enveloping layer. In both versions, it is better to produce the contact on the top, that is on the side of the substrate strip, which carries the superconducting layer. When contacting on the back side, ie on the side of the substrate facing away from the superconducting layer, higher contact resistances occur, which leads to greater electrical losses and an increased need for cooling in these areas.
- a filler such as Teflon must be used first to keep the point to be contacted of adhesive free. After removal of the filler can be made for contacting this point, for example, a solder joint to a contact piece of copper. But since this contact is within the winding, the contact area must be subsequently fixed with bandages of glass fiber reinforced plastic and epoxy adhesive to produce the necessary mechanical stability.
- JP 2008-140390 A discloses a superconducting coil of superconducting thin-film wires, one surface of which is that of a superconductive layer and the other surface of which is a substrate layer. After the lamination order on a change joint is changed, an electrode disposed on the innermost turn and on the outermost turn may be provided on the side of the superconductive layer, respectively, as the turn-away side.
- the object of the present invention is to provide a superconducting coil device which avoids the disadvantages mentioned.
- the coil device according to the invention comprises at least one coil winding with a first and a second strip conductor, wherein each of the two strip conductors has a contact side with a contact layer. Furthermore, the coil device comprises at least a first contact between the first strip conductor and a first contact piece and a second contact between the second strip conductor and a second contact piece for connecting the coil device to an external circuit. Within the coil winding, the first band conductor and the second band conductor are electrically connected via a third contact between their contact layers.
- the first and second band conductors differ in orientation of the contact side to a center of the coil winding. With contact side while the above-mentioned top is called.
- the creation of additional contacts within superconducting windings is avoided because with such an additional contact point always an ohmic resistance is inserted into the winding.
- the structure of the coil device according to the invention is based on the recognition that such an additional ohmic contact within the winding can nevertheless be advantageous if the production of the external contacts is simplified thereby.
- the total series resistance can even be lower than in the case of a conventional coil winding, since the contacts to the external circuit can be made on a larger area and thus with less resistance if no contact pieces have to be inserted into the interior of the winding at the ends.
- the mechanical stability of the coil according to the invention is also higher, since the additional contact in the interior of the winding can be glued either directly during the production of the coil in a wet winding process or can be enclosed in a subsequent encapsulation of the coil of potting compound.
- the bonding or the casting of the additional contact point can be carried out in the same process step as the gluing or casting of the remaining turns, so that fewer process steps are required to achieve the same mechanical stability than in known coil devices with a contact piece at the outer end of the winding.
- the coil device according to the invention comprises a stack of several superimposed layers, wherein each layer of the stack comprises at least two band conductors interconnected via at least one contact. It is advantageous within each layer of the stack, the number of interconnected strip conductor straight and the number of contact points odd.
- the coil device may additionally have the following features:
- the first contact may be arranged on a side of the first strip conductor facing away from the turns of the first strip conductor, and the second contact may be arranged on a side of the second strip conductor facing away from the turns of the second strip conductor.
- the first contact may be formed between the first contact piece and the contact layer on the contact side of the first strip conductor
- the second contact may be formed between the second contact piece and the contact layer on the contact side of the second strip conductor
- the first contact may be on the inside of the coil winding and the second contact may be on the outside of the coil winding.
- the third contact between the first band conductor and the second band conductor may be formed via a solder joint.
- Advantageous solder materials for producing a low-resistance contact are indium-based solders.
- the contact resistance of the third contact can advantageously be less than 1 ⁇ Ohm, particularly advantageously less than 100 nOhm.
- the third contact between the first and second strip conductors can advantageously be formed over a length of 1 cm to 5 cm.
- the coil device may comprise a cooling device for cooling the windings.
- a cooling device for cooling the windings.
- Such cooling is expedient to ensure an operating temperature of the superconductor below its transition temperature.
- the thermal connection to the cooling device can be more pronounced than in the other inner regions of the winding. Since there is an ohmic resistance in the region of the third contact, it will cause heat to develop at this point.
- the coil means may comprise a superconductive layer.
- the superconductive layer may contain a second generation high temperature superconductor, especially ReBa 2 Cu 3 O x .
- RE stands for a rare earth element or a mixture of such elements.
- the contact layer may contain copper.
- the first and the second contact piece may contain copper.
- the first and second strip conductors may each comprise a substrate, which in particular contains steel and / or the Hastelloy alloy.
- the first and the second strip conductor may also each comprise a contact layer on the side of the substrate facing away from the superconducting layer and / or be enveloped on all sides by a contact layer. Even if on the Superconducting layer facing away from the substrate is a contact layer, it is advantageous to contact the band conductor on the side of the superconducting layer, since in this case the ohmic resistance is lower than when the contact through the substrate band or around the edge of the band around are realized got to.
- the coil winding can be designed as a disk winding, in particular as a racing track coil, as a rectangular coil or as a circular disk winding.
- the turns of the coil device can be mechanically fixed with potting compound and / or with an adhesive. This is particularly advantageous for applications in engines and generators where high centrifugal forces occur and for applications in solenoids where high Lorentz forces occur.
- the encapsulation and / or the bond protects the coil winding against mechanical loads. Especially when using high-temperature superconductors with sensitive ceramic materials protection against such mechanical stress is appropriate.
- Advantageous materials for the encapsulation or the bonding of the coil winding are epoxy materials.
- the coil winding may comprise an even number of ribbon conductors interconnected by an odd number of contacts. If more than two band conductors are connected to each other via more than one contact, in the presence of an odd number of contacts, nevertheless a turning of the band conductor on the length of the coil winding can be effected, which in turn enables a simplified contacting at the ends of the coil winding.
- Fig. 1 shows a cross section of a superconducting strip conductor 1, in which the layer structure is shown schematically.
- the strip conductor comprises a substrate strip 2, which here is a 100 ⁇ m thick substrate strip made of a nickel-tungsten alloy. Alternatively, steel bands or bands of an alloy such as Hastelloy can be used.
- a 0.5 ⁇ m thick buffer layer 4 is arranged, which here contains the oxidic materials CeO 2 and Y 2 O 3 .
- the actual superconducting layer 6, here a 1 ⁇ m thick layer of YBa 2 Cu 3 O x which in turn is covered with a 50 ⁇ m thick contact layer 8 made of copper.
- the material YBa 2 Cu 3 O x it is also possible to use the corresponding compounds REBa 2 Cu 3 O x of other rare earths RE.
- another 50 microns thick cover layer 10 is arranged made of copper, followed by an insulator 12, which is formed in this example as 25 microns thick Kapton band.
- the insulator 12 may also be constructed of other insulating materials such as other plastics.
- the width of the insulator 12 is slightly larger than the width of the remaining layers of the strip conductor 1, so that windings that come one above the other are reliably insulated from one another in a winding of the coil device.
- an insulator strip in the coil device only as a separate strip during the production of the coil winding. This is particularly advantageous when several strip conductors are wound in parallel, which need not be isolated from each other. Then, for example, a stack of 2 to 10 superimposed strip conductors without an insulator layer can be wound together with an additionally inserted insulator tape in common turns.
- a contacting of the strip conductor 1 is advantageously possible via the contact layer 8.
- the upper side of the strip conductor 1 is therefore also referred to as the contact side 13.
- FIG. 12 is a highly schematic view of a prior art coil winding 15.
- a strip conductor 1 is wound in two turns W 1 and W 2 to the coil winding 15.
- the number of turns is only to be understood as an example here. In typical applications, the number of turns is usually between 10 and 500.
- the strip conductor 1 is wound so that the contact side 13 is inside.
- two contacts 17, 21 with two contact pieces 19 and 23 are required. The first contact 17 lies on the outside of the coil, and the second contact 21 lies on the inside of the coil. Since the contact side 13 of the strip conductor 1 is located inside, a simple contacting in an exposed region of the strip conductor is possible with the second contact.
- the first contact 17 is produced by inserting the first contact piece 19 into the coil winding.
- this area must be kept free of adhesive.
- a subsequent bonding and / or reinforcement (not shown here) must be carried out to ensure the mechanical stability of the coil.
- the contact pieces 19, 23 are typical solid copper pads having a high cross-section to provide the very high operating currents for the superconducting coil means available.
- the inserted into the winding first contact piece 19 has a lot of space, which is usually much larger than in the schematic view of Fig. 1 shown.
- Fig. 3 shows a highly schematic view of a coil winding 25 according to a first, not inventive embodiment. Again, only two turns W 1 and W 2 are again shown, which are to be exemplary of a much larger number of turns, for example between 10 and 500 turns.
- the coil winding 25 is in turn connected via two contacts 17, 21 and contact pieces 19, 23 with an external circuit.
- the coil winding 25 includes a first band conductor 31 and a second band conductor 32, which are connected to each other via a third contact 33.
- the third contact 33 is realized in this example via a solder connection between the contact sides 13 of the two strip conductors, with indium-based solder as solder material. The connection thus takes place between the contact layers 8 of the band conductor.
- the contact resistance of the third contact is less than 100 nOhm.
- the third contact is formed over a length of 3 cm.
- the connection of the first and the second strip conductor causes the contact side 13 is freely accessible both on the inside and on the outside of the coil winding.
- Both contacts 17 and 21 for connection to an external circuit can be easily provided.
- Both contacts 17 and 21 can be created, for example, by making solder connections to the contact pieces 19 and 23, without having to introduce a contact piece into the winding.
- the coil winding 25 can be fixed either during or after the winding of the coil with an adhesive or a potting compound. The fixation can be done before or after production of the outer contacts 17 and 21. In a gluing or potting before making the contacts only need the freely accessible contact surfaces for the contacts 17 and 21 are kept free of adhesive or grout.
- Fig. 4 shows a highly schematic view of a coil winding 35 according to a second embodiment of the invention.
- a stack 37 of two layers of tape conductors is wound into a coil.
- W 1 , W 2 are shown, which are to represent a larger number of turns.
- the two layers within the stack are also representative of a higher number of layers, for example 3 to 10 layers.
- Each of the layers comprises a first ribbon conductor 43, 44 and a second ribbon conductor 41, 42 which are interconnected within each layer via a third contact 38, 39.
- the third contact is again realized as a solder connection on the contact sides 13 of the respective band conductors 41 to 44.
- the connection thus takes place between the contact layers 8 of the band conductor.
- the band conductors each comprise a substrate 2, a buffer layer 4, a superconducting layer 6, a contact layer 8, and a capping layer 10, similar to FIG Fig. 1 shown.
- the individual strip conductors expediently do not comprise a separate insulation layer 12 Production of the coil not shown here, a separate insulator tape inserted into the winding.

Description
- Fig. 1
- einen schematischen Querschnitt eines supraleitenden Bandleiters zeigt,
- Fig. 2
- Fig. 3
- Fig. 4
Fig. 1 dargestellt.
