Description

    Background
  • The present invention relates to a marine growth removal system for cleaning an erected open ended pile prior to coupling the pile, by using grout, to a construction to be founded, like a windmill.
  • In case of installing a wind turbine, a delay of more than a few days between mono pile installation and grouting operations is not uncommon. The grouting operation has for its purpose to firmly couple the mono pile and the windmill possibly with a so called transition piece. This delay between mono pile installation and grouting operations can be costly as marine growth and other surface debris can often quickly appear on the mono pile surface. The surface cleanliness of the pile is critical for effective grouting and therefore all loose debris and marine growth needs to be removed quickly and effectively to prevent a poor coupling or any costly grout removal operation.
  • US2010180915 A1 relates to cleaning of subsea pipes in general. The invention described therein is directed to a skid for cleaning subsea conduits, such as strakes and fairings, and a method of cleaning subsea conduits. This invention may be utilized for the removal of marine growth from subsea conduits. The disclosed skid and method of cleaning subsea conduits leaves room for improvements.
  • JP H01 98000 U relates to, referring to its figures, a device for spraying the interior surface of a tube.
