Definitions
- the invention relates to a dewatering screen for the production of paper with a watermark and a method for producing such a dewatering screen.
- multi-level In the production of paper with watermarks, a distinction is made between two-level watermarks with a strong light-dark effect and multi-level watermarks with smooth transitions between light and dark and detailed representation of a motif.
- multi-level is to be understood in contrast to two-stage light-dark watermark and includes all watermarks with more than two levels of brightness and includes in particular watermarks with continuous light-dark transitions.
- electrotypes metal wires or metal moldings, so-called electrotypes, are typically soldered onto the screen structure in order to completely close the dewatering screen at these locations. If image motifs with spaced-apart line-shaped picture elements are to be produced as two-level watermarks with the aid of electrotypes, this is because of the high levels of paper production Pressure loads required to stabilize the line-shaped sub-elements with each other by connecting webs. However, these connecting bridges are characterized in the finished watermark as unwanted image artifacts in the paper.
- WO 2013/140126 discloses a dewatering screen for making paper with a watermark in the form of a dot and line motif.
- the dewatering screen has a carrier screen on which a watermark insert is arranged.
- the watermark insert is a composite screen electronotype, in which the motif elements are connected to a fine screen.
- the fine sieve is of a specific size, which ensures that its structure in the finished paper is not visible to the naked eye.
- the invention has for its object to provide a dewatering screen of the type mentioned, which avoids the disadvantages of the prior art.
- the dewatering screen is intended to enable the production of paper with a watermark in the form of a given dot and line motif, without any connecting elements being visible in the watermark between the objected picture elements,
- the invention includes a dewatering screen for the production of paper with a watermark.
- the watermark according to the invention in the form of a point and line motif, which consists of points and / or lines, given.
- the dewatering screen has a carrier screen containing a screen surface on which paper is deposited and a perforated plastic watermark insert disposed in a portion of the carrier screen.
- the plastic watermark insert contains a base body and at least two spaced line or punctiform motif elements, wherein the base body is arranged in or below the sieve surface of the support screen, and the at least two spaced line or punctiform motif elements to form the predetermined point and line motif of Starting from base body to extend over the Siebober Chemistry. Above the sieve surface the spaced line or dot-shaped motif elements are unconnected.
- the surface of the carrier screen, on which paper is deposited is regarded as the upper sieve surface, the opposite sieve surface as the lower sieve surface, so that the indications "above the sieve surface” or “below the sieve surface” have a clear meaning ,
- dot and line motif means that the motif consists of dots and / or lines.
- the term includes mixed motifs of dots and lines as well as pure line motifs and pure point motifs.
- the spaced line or dot-shaped motif elements have a stroke width of 0.6 mm or less, preferably 0.4 mm or less.
- the stroke width is at the same time the stroke length, so that punctiform motif elements preferably have a size of 0.6 mm ⁇ 0.6 mm or less, in particular of 0.4 mm ⁇ 0.4 mm or less.
- the spaced line or dot-shaped motif elements are advantageously at least partially represent characters, in particular Latin, Cyrillic or Arabic characters.
- the spaced line or dot-shaped motif elements are formed integrally with the base body.
- a particularly high stability of the watermark insert can be ensured with simple production.
- the spaced line or dot-shaped motif elements extend starting from the base body perpendicular to and beyond the screen surface. They advantageously exceed the sieve surface by 0.1 mm to 2 mm.
- the main body is either arranged in the sieve surface or is advantageously 0.1 mm to 2 mm below the sieve surface. If the base body is arranged below the sieve surface, it is thus possible to selectively produce regions of greater paper thickness which, as a dark background, form a strong contrast to the linear or punctiform motif elements which appear bright in transmitted light.
- the watermark insert is an injection molding insert.
- the injection molding insert is expediently formed from a hydrophobic plastic, for example from polyoxymethylene.
- the plastic may be added with wear-reducing additives.
- the watermark insert may also be made by deep drawing or hot stamping.
- a separate watermark insert can first be produced and perforated, and the separately produced watermark insert then connected to the carrier screen, in particular welded or glued.
- a plastic plate can be inserted into the carrier screen, and a watermark insert can be produced from the plastic plate used in the deep-drawing process or in the hot stamping process.
- the watermark insert integrated in the carrier screen is then perforated, optionally together with the carrier screen.
- a thermoforming process an already pre-perforated plastic plate can be used, so that the subsequent perforation can be omitted.
- the watermark insert can be injected with a corresponding tool shape directly into a cut-out portion of the mesh, so that a particularly intimate connection with the mesh arises.
- the dewatering screen may also have a plastic overmold or plastic backshell that connects the watermark insert to the carrier screen.
- the watermark insert is preferably arranged in a cut-out region of the carrier screen and connected thereto only in a preferably serrated edge region.
- a recess can be produced which is slightly smaller, for example 1/10 mm smaller than the desired shape of the watermark insert.
- the edge region can be designed in particular in the form of a pattern, preferably in a serrated form. In this cut-out portion of the watermark insert can be inserted or preferably injected, as described above.
- the support screen advantageously comprises a screen fabric with at least one system of interwoven, longitudinally extending warp threads and weft threads extending transversely thereto, the screen fabric advantageously comprising either a metal fabric, in particular a bronze fabric, a metal-plastic mixed fabric, in particular a bronze plastic Mixed fabric, or contains a pure plastic fabric.
- the watermark insert preferably has a plurality of perforations that ensure dewatering in papermaking.
- the dimensions of these drainage perforations are chosen so small that they do not adhere to fibers during papermaking.
- Typical perforation diameters are between 100 ⁇ m and a few 100 ⁇ m, for example about 500 ⁇ m.
- the perforations preferably taper towards the upper design surface of the watermark insert.
- the point and line motifs described herein may be combined with design elements known from conventional watermarking designs, such as a history watermark.
- the associated watermark insert may contain, in addition to the described spaced-apart line-shaped or punctiform motif elements, a relief area extending in a planar manner for generating the history watermark.
- the carrier screen is cut out in the region of the watermark to be generated, and the watermark insert is injected in the cut-out region of the carrier screen.
- Fig.1 shows a schematic representation of a banknote 10 with two watermarks 12,14 according to the invention, which are each in the form of a dot and line motif.
- the first watermark 12 consists of the value "10" of the banknote (reference numeral 20-1), an inner frame 20-2 concentrically surrounding the denomination 20-1 and an outer frame 20-3 surrounding and surrounding the inner frame.
- the second watermark 14 represents the Arabic version of the name "Giesecke &Devrient" using Arabic characters.
- the watermarks 12, 14 are in the schematic view of FIG Fig. 1 Drawn black for illustrative reasons on a white background. However, it is understood that the watermarks 12, 14 actually represent thin areas in the banknote paper 16, which, as usual for watermarks, are barely recognizable or not at all and which are recognizable in transmitted light as bright areas in front of the darker background of the surrounding paper substrate 16 ,
- the peculiarity of the watermarks 12,14 consists in the fact that they each show a picture motif of dots or lines, in which the individual picture elements (dots and lines) have a very small line width of only about 0.4 mm and in which these fine picture elements are also spaced apart without any watermarking of any connecting elements between the picture elements being visible.
- Fig. 2 Prior art
- the watermark 30 is made in a conventional manner by means of electrotypes.
- electrotypes metal wires or metal moldings, so-called electrotypes, are conventionally soldered or welded onto the screen structure of the paper screen in order to completely close the paper screen at these locations.
- electrotypes are conventionally soldered or welded onto the screen structure of the paper screen in order to completely close the paper screen at these locations.
- the paper accumulation is obstructed in these sections of the papermaking screen and thin spots form in the paper, which appear very bright in transmitted light.
- connecting bridges are between the inner frame 32-2 and the digits "1" and “0", respectively, of the value 32-1 leading to image artifacts 34-2, and a connecting bridge between the digits "1" and "0" is required leads to an image artifact 34-3.
- Fig. 3 shown schematically drainage screen 40 used. It shows Fig. 3 (a) a top view of the drainage screen and Fig. 3 (b) a cross section along the line BB of Fig. 3 (a) ,
- the dewatering screen 40 comprises a carrier screen 42 with a screen fabric 44, which is cut out in a partial region 50.
- the height level of the paper facing surface of the support wire is in Fig. 3 (b) indicated by the reference numeral 52.
- the screen fabric 44 has at least one system of interwoven, longitudinally extending warp threads 46 and weft threads 48 extending transversely thereto.
- the screen fabric may for example contain a metal fabric, in particular a bronze fabric, a metal-plastic mixed fabric, in particular a bronze-plastic blended fabric, or even a pure plastic fabric.
- the support screen 42 may include both a single-layer and a multi-layer mesh, with the simpler view being shown in the figures only single-layer mesh.
- a plastic watermark insert 54 is arranged, which is connected at its edge to the mesh fabric 44.
- the connection can basically be manifold Way done, for example, by a plastic encapsulation or back injection, using a plurality along the edge arranged mounting studs, or by welding or gluing.
- the plastic watermark insert 54 is an injection-molded element which is injected directly into the cut-out portion 50 of the screen fabric 44 with a corresponding tool shape and thereby enters into a particularly intimate connection with the screen fabric.
- the injection-molded watermark insert 54 has a main body 56 which is arranged completely at 0.1 mm below the sieve surface 52 of the carrier screen 42. Starting from the base body 56, spaced line-shaped motif elements 60-1, 60-2 and 60-3 extend vertically upwards and project beyond the sieve surface 52, in the exemplary embodiment by approximately 1.5 mm. Above the screen surface 52 there is no connection between the line-shaped motif elements 60-1, 60-2 and 60-3.
- Fig. 3 (a) As best in the supervision of Fig. 3 (a) to recognize the subject element 60-1 in the form of the value number "10", the motif element 60-2 in the form of surrounding the value number inner frame and the motif element 60-3 in the form of the rotated outer frame.
- the base body 56 and the motif elements 60-1, 60-2, 60-3 are made of the same plastic material and are produced simultaneously in the injection process, are for better distinctness in Fig. 3 (a) only the motif elements are shown cross-hatched, while the main body is shown unfilled.
- the watermark insert 54 despite the narrow line shape of the motif elements 60-1, 60-2, 60-3 an excellent stability and shows a high durability even with the high mechanical loads of paper production. At the same time it is ensured by the described construction of the watermark insert 54, that the stabilizing base body 56 is always in or below the screen surface 52, so that no disturbing image artifacts occur in the generated watermark 12.
- the main body 56 is provided with a plurality of perforations 58.
- the diameter of the perforations 58 is chosen so small that they do not adhere to fibers in paper production. Typical perforation diameters are between 100 ⁇ m and a few 100 ⁇ m, for example about 500 ⁇ m.
- the motif elements 60-1, 60-2, 60-3 contain no perforations.
- Fig. 4 As a further embodiment of the invention in a plan view of that section of the Entskyssansssiebs 40, the generation of the watermark 14 of Fig.1 serves. Also in this embodiment, a portion of the mesh fabric 44 was cut out and a plastic watermark insert 70 is injected directly into the cut portion of the mesh fabric 44.
- the injection-molded watermark insert 70 has a main body 72, which is arranged completely by approximately 0.5 mm below the sieve surface 52 of the carrier screen 42.
- the watermark insert 70 further contains a plurality of motif elements 74-1, 74-2, which are partly line-shaped (motif elements 74-1), partly punctiform (motif elements 74-2), and extending from the base body 72, vertically upwards extend beyond the screen surface. Above the screen surface there is no connection between the point and line-shaped motif elements 74-1, 74-2, so that in the generated watermark 14 no disturbing image artifacts occur ( Fig. 1 ).
- the motif elements 74-1, 74-2 represent Arabic characters and together form a lettering with the Arabic version of the name "Giesecke &Devrient". How out Fig. 4 Immediately apparent, such a representation can not be meaningfully realized with conventional electrotypes, since the image artifacts always visible in the watermark in the form of connecting lines between the individual line and dot elements would lead to a barely legible and visually unacceptable appearance of the Arabic word.
- the base body 72 of the watermark insert 70 is provided with a plurality of perforations 76, which are shown in the figure for clarity, but only in a small portion of the base body 72.
- the dimensions of the drainage perforations 76 are chosen to be small enough that they do not adhere to fibers during papermaking and are preferably between 100 ⁇ m and several 100 ⁇ m.
