Description

Domaine techniqueTechnical area

The present invention relates to the field of watchmaking. It relates more particularly to a device for displaying the phases of the moon. The invention also relates to a disk correcting mechanism for correcting the angular position of a display disk.

Etat de la techniqueState of the art

On pourra se référer à l'ouvrage « Théorie d'horlogerie » de Reymondin et al., Fédération des Ecoles Techniques, 1998, ISBN 2-940 025-10-X, pages 201-202 .Moon phase display mechanisms are well known to those skilled in the art. In general, the phases of the moon are indicated by a mobile disk with two representations of the moon, diametrically opposed. An aperture of appropriate shape in the dial of the watch allows to leave visible a part of one of the representations of the moon, so as to show a shape corresponding to the phase of the moon (increasing moon, full, decreasing or new ). We can refer to the book "Clockwork Theory" by Reymondin et al., Federation of Technical Schools, 1998, ISBN 2-940-025-10-X, pages 201-202 .

Thus, the shape of the representation of the moon is directly dependent on the shape of the edges of the opening in the dial, also called window. The moon is represented in an approximate manner, relatively inconsistent with reality, especially when the moon is gibbous.

The document DE9205424 discloses a mechanism for displaying the moon phase, driven by stepper motors, and comprising, among others, a representation of the moon and three circular masks. These elements, as well as a representation of the firmament, turn at the back of a generally semicircular aperture, whose bottom consists of two relatively curved lines which represent the horizon. Therefore, the device displays the rising and setting of the moon, as well as its phase.

The documents DE3918647 , EP22392976 , JPS61139778 and US2006 / 221771 propose moon phase display systems to be closer to the actual shape of the moon as it is visible during its cycle.

The main purpose of the invention is thus to provide a device for overcoming this disadvantage by allowing the moon phases to be displayed in a more precise and realistic manner throughout the duration of the lunation.

Divulgation de l'inventionDisclosure of the invention

For this purpose, the invention relates to a moon phase display device for a timepiece which comprises:
  • a first disk bearing a representation of the moon and arranged to rotate about an axis with a first non-zero speed; and
  • a second disc superimposed on the first disc and arranged to rotate about the axis with a second speed different from the first speed, the second disc having a plurality of moon caches defining between them a series of openings arranged to reveal the representation of the moon in order to indicate successively the phases of the moon of a lunation through one of the openings.

According to the invention, all moon caches are visible simultaneously. The device is arranged so that the phases of the moon are indicated through adjacent openings. Therefore, the proposed device allows a display of the moon phases in a more precise and realistic way throughout the duration of the lunation, in particular thanks to the fact that the second disc comprising the moon covers is movable.

Advantageously, each moon cover has convex lateral edges extending in the direction of the adjacent moon cover. Each of said side edges follows a circular arc. The moon caps are evenly distributed and are equidistant from the axis of rotation of the second disk.

  • un premier mobile entraîneur en liaison cinématique avec le premier disque et comprenant une première étoile ;
Advantageously, the moon phase display device comprises a drive mechanism. This includes:
  • a first driving mobile in kinematic connection with the first disk and comprising a first star;
  • a second driving mobile in kinematic connection with the second disc and comprising a second star; and
  • a third driving mobile arranged to be rotated at a rate of one revolution per period of time predefined by a basic movement of the timepiece, the third driving mobile being arranged to drive the first star and the second star each of the same number of steps per predefined period of time.

Advantageously, the first star and the second star each have a different number of teeth. For example, the first star has 16 teeth, and the second star has 18 teeth.

Advantageously, the third mobile is arranged to drive the first star and the second star in a substantially simultaneous manner.

Advantageously, the display device comprises a disk correcting mechanism. The corrective mechanism comprises:
  • a first correction lever arranged to act on the first star in response to an action of a user on a first actuator,
  • a second correction lever arranged to act on the second star in response to an action of a user on a second actuator, and
  • a general corrector arranged to act in a substantially simultaneous manner on the first correction lever and the second correction lever in response to an action of a user on a third actuator.

Advantageously, the general corrector is arranged to rotate a ring capable of rotating with reference to said movement and comprising a series of correction pads.

Advantageously, a first correction pad acts on a flank of the first lever to actuate said first correction lever, a second correction pad acts on a flank of the second lever to actuate said second correction lever.

Mode(s) de réalisation de l'inventionMode (s) of realization of the invention

The figure 1 shows a first disc 1 bearing a representation of a moon 1A and a background making it possible to contrast with the representation of the moon 1A. This background may include representations of 1C stars. The first disc 1 has a central opening 1B and is arranged to rotate about an axis not shown with a first non-zero speed.

The second disc 2 has a central opening 2C having a smaller diameter than the central opening of the first disk 1 B. The second disk 2 is arranged to rotate about said axis with a second speed different from the first speed. The openings 2B are arranged so as to be able to show the representation of the moon 1A in order to indicate the successive phases of the moon during a lunation through one of the openings 2B. The moon caches 2A have convex side edges 2E, these in a form of a circular arc and extending towards the adjacent moon cover 2A. The moon caches 2A have an appearance allowing them to "extend" or merge with the bottom of the first disk 1. In the example presented, the moon caches 2A thus show representations of stars 1C. The person skilled in the art can choose and adapt the number and the size of moon covers 2A and consequently openings 2B.

In the example presented, six moon caches 2A are distributed equidistantly on an annular band centered on the axis of the second disk 2.

The figure 3 presents the moon phase display device 10 according to the invention showing the superposition of the first disk 1 and the second disk 2 to reveal the representation of the moon 1A, here in its full moon phase, visible between two caches- moon 2A adjacent. It will be noted that moon caches 2A are visible simultaneously.

Moon caches 2A having the same appearance as the bottom of the first disc 1, visible through openings 2B, they merge substantially with him.

The first disc 1 and the second disc 2 are concentric and rotate relative to each other at different nonzero velocities to display the representation of the moon 1A in its different phases, while the moon performs a revolution around from the center of the first disc, which preferably coincides with the center of the movement. In the example presented, the first disk 1 has a faster rotational speed than the second disk 2, and the first disk 1 and the second disk 2 are arranged to turn counterclockwise; however, the discs could also rotate clockwise.

The Figures 4 to 7 show the superposition of the first disc 1 and the second disc 2 to display successive phases of the decreasing moon 1A. So, the figure 4 shows a representation of the moon 1A gibbous appearance, the figure 5 shows a representation of the moon 1A of last-quarter appearance, the figure 6 shows a representation of the moon 1A of last crescent appearance and the figure 7 shows a representation of the moon 1A just before the new moon.

Thus, the representation of the moon 1A makes a movement of revolution around the movement, with the moon cover 2A which follows a kinematics adapted to allow to display the phases of the moon with a cycle of about 29.5 days (period synodic of the moon). By choosing the rotational speeds of the first disc 1 and the second disc 2, this display can be used to indicate the position of the moon around the earth, the latter being represented by the center of the movement. In the example presented, the first disc will be driven substantially at the rate of one turn in 27.3 days, and an additional ring may represent the position of the sun relative to the earth, performing a lap in one year and the phase The moon is aligned on the earth-sun axis, the moon making a revolution around the earth in 27.3 days.

In addition, the device according to the invention could comprise a drive mechanism of the two discs 1 and 2, and a mechanism for correcting the position of the two discs 1 and 2. figure 8 shows the support mechanism of the first disk 1 and the second disk 2, the drive mechanism of said disks 1 and 2, and the arrangement of the correction mechanism of disks 1 and 2 in an inactive state.

The support mechanism comprises a support ring 31 of the first disk 1, and a support ring 32 of the second disk 2. These are arranged to guide in rotation the first disk 1 and the second disk 2.

The drive mechanism comprises a first driving mobile 41 in kinematic connection with a driving wheel 33 integral with the ring 31 of the first disc 1. The first mobile 41 comprises a first wheel 44 and a first star 45, showing 18 branches in the example presented. The drive mechanism comprises a second driving mobile 42 in kinematic connection with a drive wheel 34 integral with the ring 32 of the second disk 2. The second mobile 42 comprises a second wheel 46 and a second star 47, showing 16 branches in the example presented.

The driving mechanism comprises a third driving mobile 43 arranged to be rotated at a rate of one revolution per period of time predefined by a basic movement of the timepiece, typically at a rate of one revolution per day. The third driving mobile 43 is arranged to drive the first star 45 and the second star 47 each with the same number of steps per predefined period of time. Thus, the third mobile 43 is arranged to drive the first star 45 by a first elastic finger 48 of known form. It is arranged to drive the second star 47 by a second elastic finger 49 of known form. The driving of the first star 45 and the second star 47 is performed substantially simultaneously.

The mechanism for correcting the position of the discs 1 and 2 comprises a first correction lever 5 arranged to act on the first star 45. It is pivotally mounted on the frame (not shown in the figure) around a first axis 53. comprises a first activation zone 51 on which a user can act via a first actuator, pusher type. A first guide opening 54, in the form of an arc of a circle centered on the axis 53, in which is engaged a first pin (not shown in the figure) integral with the frame, to guide and limit the stroke of the first lever 5. The first lever 5 also comprises a first sidewall 52, forming an additional activation zone, arranged to cooperate with a first correction pad 8 (described below).

The mechanism for correcting the position of the discs 1 and 2 comprises a second correction lever 6 arranged to act on the second star 47. It is pivotally mounted on the frame (not shown in the figure) around a second axis 63. comprises a second activation zone 61 on which a user can act via a second actuator, pusher type. A second guide opening 64, in the form of a circular arc centered on the axis 63, in which is engaged a second pin (not shown in the figure), integral with the frame, to guide and limit the stroke of the second lever 6. The second lever 6 also comprises a first side 62, forming an additional activation zone, arranged to cooperate with a second corrector pin 9 (described below).

The disk correcting mechanism further comprises a general corrector 7 for acting substantially simultaneously on the first correction lever 5 and the second lever 6 in response to an action of a user on a third actuator.

The general corrector 7 comprises a ring 74 rotatable and is provided with a series of correction pads 8 and 9 mentioned above. The ring can be rotated by the action of a third lever 4 pivotally mounted on the frame (not shown in the figure) around a third axis 73. It comprises a third activation zone 71 on which can act a user via a third actuator, push type. A third guide opening 74, in the form of a circular arc centered on the axis 73, in which is engaged a third pin (not shown in the figure). In this case, the pin is secured to the ring and the rotation of the third lever, allows to push the ring and rotate around the movement.

Thus, the actuation by a user of the general corrector 7 rotates the ring 74. The first correction stud 8 is arranged on the ring 74 to cooperate with the first side of the first lever 52 and actuate the first correction lever 5, having the same effect as an actuation of the first actuator. The second stud 9 is arranged on the ring 74 to cooperate with the first side of the second lever 62 and actuate the second lever 6, having the same effect as an actuation of the second actuator. In this way the first disc 1 and the second disc 2 are corrected in a substantially simultaneous manner by the general corrector 7.

As mentioned, the first disk 1 and the second disk 2 could be individually corrected respectively by the corrective effect of the first lever 5 and the second lever 6 in response to an action by a user on the first individual pusher 51 and / or on the second individual pusher 61. In addition, the discs 1 and 2 could be corrected substantially simultaneously by the effect of the general corrector 7 on the first 5 and second 6 lever in response to a user action.

In the example presented the general corrector 7 rotates clockwise, the corrector 7 could also be arranged to turn counterclockwise. The general corrector 7 could be arranged to correct other elements in a synchronized manner, for example a corrector for a display of the day and / or the date, a corrector for a display of the different time zones, or a corrector for the display other indications such as tides or astrological signs. Although not specifically claimed, the general corrector 7 could be the subject of a patent application for him alone.
