Claims (14)

  1. A protective device (4, 5, 6) for a region of the human body, that comprises a first shell (1) called the inner shell positioned against the said region of the human body that is rigid, curved and of a suitable shape to cover the said region and a second shell (1') called the outer shell, also rigid and curved, superimposed over the first shell that extends in its immediate area, spaced away from it and can move flexibly relative to it, the protective device being characterised in that the outer shell (1') is less rigid than the inner shell (1).
  2. A device according to one of claim 1, in which the inner shell (1) is smaller than the outer shell (1') in the transverse direction.
  3. A device according to one of claims 1 or 2, in which the said shells (1, 1') are of different thickness, the inner shell (1) having a thickness less than that of the outer shell.
  4. A device according to one of claims 1 to 3, in which the inner and outer shells (1, 1') are linked together by a set of rivets (2) with rubber bushes (23, 23a, 23b, 23', 23") fitted in the space between the shells (1, 1') which tend to keep the said shells (1, 1') spaced apart from each other.
  5. A device according to claim 4, in which each rivet (2) has flexible bushes made from a deformable material (23, 23', 23"), preferably of high strength.
  6. A device according to claim 5, in which the deformable material is chosen from a group comprising foam, natural or synthetic rubber, deformable composites and springs.
  7. A device according to one of claims 4 to 6, in which the flexible medium comprises at least one bush (23a, 23b).
  8. A device according to claim 7, in which the flexible medium comprises two bushes (23a) separated by a washer (23b).
  9. A device according to one of claims 4 to 6, in which the said part made from deformable material (23') is in the form of a strip enclosed between the inner shell (1) and the outer shell (1') and houses the stems (20) of the rivets (2).
  10. A device according to one of claims 4 to 9, in which there is clearance between the rivets and the outer shell (1') and/or the inner shell (1).
  11. A device according to one of claims 1 to 10, in which the said inner shell (1) is provided with means (130) for attaching it to clothing.
  12. A device according to one of claims 1 to 11, comprising a tibia protector, an ankle protector, a breastplate, a knee protector, an arm protector or a shoulder protector.
  13. A combination of at least two parts (4, 5, 6) according to one of claims 1 to 12, of different shapes fixed to each other and designed to cover nearby regions of the human body.
  14. Protective clothing to which at least one part (4, 5, 6) is permanently attached according to one of claims 1 to 12, or at least one combination of parts according to claim 13.
